all right my name is Jared Berg I am an
exercise physiologist and Sports
Nutrition register dietician and so
today we got we got Trevor into uh to my
my home lab here where we uh got him on
the bike and did a molic test to uh try
to understand how much carbohydrate
versus fat he's utilizing at his uh
specific training paces and his race
Paces try to dial in nutrition uh
training fuel racing feel we also uh we
wanted to get a good feel for uh
training intensities and racing
intensities so he start to build
strategy on uh what he's going to use
for for upcoming events and also how
he's going to program out his training
so it's uh yeah covers kind of the full
spectrum what we did uh we definitely
gained an understanding of his his goal
Iron Man Watts right um in the Baseline
watts and then also how to move in and
out of those Watts what kind kind of
efforts to uh to do um some higher level
attacks or um pushes on the race course
and what makes sense uh and then uh we
also yeah got a got a feel for the fact
that he is um just re really doing well
with fat utilization right but then we
also can ask the question was that fat
utilization from a little bit from
carbohydrate Avail lack of carbohydrate
availability from the race so we got a
chance to uh look at how much salt is in
uh every lader that uh that Trevor
sweats out and so um with that also that
information we also you know just very
simple sweat rate test which anybody can
do at home by just weighing themselves
before and after a workout right and so
we you know with that we G an
understanding that um there's potential
that Trevor was not uh hydrating well
enough during uh during his 1.3s and
especially Iron Man races so getting
that dialed in could honestly be above
and beyond more important than any of
the um the metabolic data that we got
for um setting him setting him up for a
uh successful long course racing
yeah yeah today is uh today is Monday so
two days after my first ever gravel race
say we did uh like metabolic lactate V2
test all that kind of fancy stuff
um quick rundown of the gravel race I
just did um yeah I did the how do you
say it s Ro Robo rubido rev Vu 100 mile
gravel race against um some really solid
competition I knew it would be good I
Target it targeted it
specifically because I would like to to
get into some gravel um this year I'd
like to I don't know maybe try to get on
the uh lifetime circuit next year uh I
think I could balance both pretty pretty
good and I think they're really good
training stimuluses for what I'm trying
to do in Triathlon so anyway new is
going to be a pretty good race cuz I had
a $330,000 price purse three-hour drive
from Boulder same course that I'm going
to do in two months at us gravelat so
all in all it's just a good nice fun
weekend getaway my dad was in town went
to and sof came and so was a fun little
thing to do got fourth place got paid at
a great four and a half hour Tempo on
the bike um I was supposed to do kind of
like four hours of like Tempo LT1
sometime during last last week and you
know way easier to go do it with you
know 200 other guys and make some money
doing it so anyway it was good um really
like looking forward to trying to do
some of that a little bit more and then
today Monday got into like I said just
some metabolic testing I've been
advising with a with a guy that Julie
debons uh recommended his name's Jared
um um so yeah today we just ran through
some V2 and lactate testing on the bike
we did a little bit of it on the run but
more so the focus was on the bike f
figured out kind of some good sweat rate
stuff how many carbs an hour calories an
hour on burning at XX and X Watts um
which is going to be really crucial for
like plid which is the big goal in three
weeks so yeah I think uh just still
trying to build this good team around me
I think we're sof and I are pretty
pretty set on moving to Boulder um
fulltime I really like it here um I have
so many good partners and Friends
teammates just a really good community
around me that I'm starting to build um
and they all talk they're all you know
invested in my my goals and and also too
I just I love it here like uh it's just
great riding it's great training
swimming you know again s loves it here
and I have good friends that are here um
so yeah it's just uh yeah I think we're
really starting to yeah like I said
build a good team and I think that's
just going to be really important I just
start getting into the latter parts of
my career as I start becoming more
professional and getting a little bit
more serious
uh I think I'm off to a really good
start this year I think I'm I'm you know
I'm in lifetime Best Fitness I think I
showed that in in Boulder I was I raced
super well and made the decision not to
do Tron blant it's a very adult decision
I'd say you know I really wanted to go
race especially against Lionel you know
because you know he's Lionel and I'd
love just to go you know tee myself up
with you know he's probably one of the
hottest guys in the world right now um
on the circuit so that would have been a
great Benchmark but we hit that
Benchmark in uh 20 days 20 days we get
to race you know 10 20 of the best guys
in the world and like blasted so um yeah
like I said today's test was great um
kind of putting in the final pieces of
the build in these last like 14 days of
training so I think we're going to have
a really good understanding of where I'm
at and honestly like knock on wood I
think I'm I'm pretty much where I want
to be um I just need to make sure I get
to the starting line in in one piece I
nail my nutrition and and you know if it
doesn't if it doesn't happen this is
something I if it doesn't happen to be
to go good I think it's just something I
did wrong on race day so I just need to
trust the training that this last 20
days and get to the race confident
trying to put together a good one and uh
get a KQ and get more good points up on
the pro series board so yeah it's been
great like I said super thankful for
everyone that's been helping me like I
said I think I'm a great team great
partners and really starting to feel
professional so thanks for all the

and then honestly you know two three
weeks after that we got Frankfurt so
it's just you know we're going to be
