Transcripts
To be honest, I didn't make use of my iPad Pro.
I was so excited to welcome you one day.
My life would change ! I believed I could create something.
But I was wrong. Nothing came out of a dry rag.
There was nothing to create...
Somehow I gave up touching you.
I want to save you (iPad) like that.
Cheerful music...
Hi, welcome to Fantastic Workspace. Bow with my hands.
I think there is a case that iPads delivered to desk people are left unattended or turned into toys for kids.
To get out of such situation, Let me introduce you to the hellish trial and error I have tried for more than two years all at once.
My conclusion is that you can dramatically increase the utilization rate of your iPad by using it as a sub-monitor.
If you mount it on a monitor arm, you can use it almost infinitely.
I have also completed a checklist of issues to avoid making mistakes of choosing a case/stand again.
This video is sponsored by Wondershare. Thank you so much!
I'll show you more about Wondershare's PDF editing apps in detail later on.
First, we will discuss how to turn your iPad into a sub-monitor.
Actually, I guess 90% of your work is done on your PC, right?
So I recommend using your iPad as a sub-monitor while working on PC too.
If you set it in the air, you can save the space for it on your desk, so, it's more beneficial for the rent.
It can be linked to a monitor, its angle can also be adjusted, it is also compatible with your backward leaning posture.
There is almost no cursor delay problem, It is perfectly fine for normal desk work.
The pincer method is more common, but the magnet is 8,000 times more convenient.
There are only 3 steps to realize it.
Step 0, the mounting part of the monitor, technically VESA mount. I set a Nyoibo (magical stick) in order to stick out from there.
It's easy. Just fix SmallRig's rod clamp
to VESA expansion item by Nagano Seisakusho, a thoroughbred in the sheet metal fabrication world. and stick the rod into it.
If you are interested in the details, guys, please check out the previous video later.
Step 1, Make a mount to support the iPad.
Try to apply a magnetic field observation sheet.
Oh my, you can see through the position of the magnet in the back of the iPad.
Yes, attack that point.
In case you don't have a magnetic field observation sheet at home, you can just put a magnet on the back of the body.
It is very easy to identify the pressure points that are strongly attracted.
By the way, this magnet with a 1/4" screw can be purchased on Amazon.
The cheese plate has two roles: working as a visual guide for installation, and preventing the iPad from sliding down.
Step 2, Dock the mounting parts to the Nyoibo.
The angle can be adjusted by loosening the clamps on the joined parts.
If the monitor tilts due to the weight, you can put items on the opposite side of the monitor to take a balance. or take a balance with a counterweight of photographic equipment .
Step 3, all that is left is to connect it to your PC.
With a horizontal screen, you can use the standard Mac Sidecar function.
I want to use it in portrait mode, so I use an app called "duet".
I just launch the duet app on my iPad, it is instantly connected and movement is stable. I like it very much.
Both Sidecar and duet can be connected wirelessly, but connecting by wire stabilizes much more and you can charge the iPad at the same time.
The magnetic connector can be attached and detached in an instant, When not in use, it can be clipped to the back of the monitor.
By the way, you may think "This guy looks like a pain in the ass! You have a sense of decency, please don't worry.
The German Zelal mount is much easier to fix magnetically. The fixing force is also perfect.
Zelal mounts are compatible with the international VESA standard, so it can be attached to almost any monitor arm or stand on the planet.
With a monitor arm, you can adjust the position of the monitor freely and smoothly.
You can connect it to a keyboard and focus completely on writing,
It works well with Japanese Sonshi Style.
However, there are two fatal weaknesses in this operation.
The first, The Zelal mount weighs 390g, and the iPad Pro 12.9" with just the film on it weighs 707g. The total weight is only about 1kg.
Therefore, it may be too light for this powerful monitor arm.
For example, in the case of Ergotron LX, a very standard monitor arm, specifications require a minimum weight of 3.2kg.
As far as I have tried, it seems to work normally, But there is a possibility that it will slowly rise later on.
And the second one. This one is more problematic.
If you try to move it just like a monitor, your iPad will fall off at a high rate.
It cannot cover both holding power and ease of attachment.
It's nuisant to grab the arm on the back and move it, and you have to touch the iPad directly to move to swing or rotate.
While eliminating these weaknesses, I have reached a way to make it even more convenient.
If you combine the VESA expansion plate by Nagao Seisakusho, a sheet metal fabrication technician,
and the camera mount for monitor arm,
It can be used as a handle for moving it while adding bulk to the weight. There is no need to worry about dropping it since you don't touch the iPad
There are plenty of screw holes, I mounted a shotgun mic and a wireless mic,
I've created the condition that I can record the sound of my handiwork at close range.
In addition, you can use a counterweight to keep it balanced, you can move it smoothly and stop it exactly where you want it to be.
To sum up, for those who want to mount a sub-monitor floating next to the main monitor, there is the monitor interlocking mount,
For those who want to add a monitor arm and want to move your iPad more freely, there is the VESA magnet mount,
For the perverts who use the iPad hard enough to exceed the utilization of it on the two desks, I recommend the both of them.
Sorry, I finally got the front end out of the way.
Now for the heart of this video, I introduce you to my two years of experience seeking for an iPad case/stand like a refugee. We are now entering the summit battle in hell.
Let me be clear at the outset, There is no all-around perfect of perfect solution.
What do you want from your iPad, what do you want to do with it, how do you want to live? These will completely change the "answer".
My own use for the 12.9" is, to think on the Infinite Campus app freeboard,
or to use it to make DIY plans for my room with the concept of Infinity Campus,
to review the day and organize tasks for the next day with GoodNote every night ,
to edit photos in Lightroom, or to monitor video recording, etc.
Another important use at work is to check documnts darely with my iPad
It's really strange that I don't notice careless mistakes on my PC, but I can find them on my iPad. Strange.
By the way, the absolute king of document files is PDF.
You can use PDF files more conveniently with Wondershare's all-in-one PDF Converter app "PDF element10".
I've been using this legendary software 'UniConverter' by Wondershare. I make use of this for certain classified personal activity
that can download the videos on the internet and convert it as I like.
Since then, I have an image that the software by Wondershare has a clear UI and easy to use.
This time I have a chance to try PDF element. I guess all the desk workers had a hatred for the desires
such as annotate with underlines, comments,
edit the text or images easily,
rotate, delete or merge the pages.
All of those things can be done with PDF element as a matter of course.
On top of that, let me introduce three features that I found particularly beneficial from the point of Fantastic Workspace.
First, You can activate the combo of spread view and continuous scrolling. This is great for reading dozens of pages of material at once.
Second, the OCR function. It is a function that converts text in an image or scanned data into text data that can be copied, searched, and edited.
I'll show it to you, I convert a piece of paper to PDF with the iPad camera, and import it into PDFelement and apply OCR.
That's all it takes to turn a photo into text data. You can convert it to Word and edit it.
Paper again? Please give me data!
Hey, I'm in a hurry.
But I need to edit it!
I even gave you a printout.
It took a lot of time to staple them together !
So send me the original data as soon as possible.
If you have OCR, you can fight against such a horrible situation. It can be converted with multiple languages like English and Japanese.
I have tried it in various ways in my environment, I have an impression that very small characters and symbols are not readable so far.
And the third one, It's the AI assist function, which is the highlight of the newly released Ver. 10.
I found the assist function for translation is really good and practical at this point.
AI Translation" translates the selected part in real time. You can also create sticky notes to look back on later.
Moreover, "PDF Translate" translates the entire document.
As for the quality of the translation, which is the most important thing, in conclusion, I think it is good enough.
By the way, the AI assist function will be implemented in the IOS and Android versions of PDFelement in the near future. 00:08:57,745 --> 00:09:00,831 So, if you are interested, please check out the overview section.
Now let's look at carefully selected items such as cases, stands and accussories which boost the usability of your iPad..
PITAKA's MagEZ Folio. It's a right shape and reasonable, the best choice for the first one.
But compare to other cases, the stand occupies the space more in the back in handwriting position.
Fingerprints tend to leave on the case compared to others.
MagEZ Folio 2 by PITAKA. The biggest advantage is that it can be placed vertically.
It can be used in 4 different formations, It's great for minimizing the installation area on the desk.
Its weakness may be a little uncomfortable when handwriting due to its steep angle.
And this is my personal situation, but I was shocked that it cannot be placed vertically when the magnetic connector is attached.
Those who want to stick a hub or a wired keyboard on it, you have to give up using it vertically.
Moft's Snap Float Folio. Floating mode that can raise the height by 9cm is the best feature.
It's perfect for Sidecar operation or using it like a PC.
However, the case itself is quite heavy.
Also, the viewing mode is almost a right angle, It may be a little bit difficult to see for a tall worker like me.
It seems there is no microfiber for inner protection.
Ultra-thin laptop stand, non-adhesive type, also by Moft.
You can create an angle just by placing it. It can be used vertically, and the angle can be switched between two levels, which is very convenient.
There is a magnet built in, It can be stuck to the wall when not in use.
Honestly, this color is not my favorite one, though.
Native Union's foldable laptop stand. It is folded very compactly.
The shape and softness of the lower support part is ingenious, It doesn't bother when handwriting, it's great.
The texture is also fantastic.
But it has only one angle, 15°, If the ceiling light is reflected in the image, it will be a dead end.
Finally, Zugu case. It is one of the best in terms of functional quality.
It can be angled in 10 different ways, It is really easy to use in various positions and situations.
The design of the pen holder is also excellent, It holds the pen securely, yet is easy to remove,
The buttons are soft and easy to press, icons are carved and the volume control is easy to use,
The microfiber inside is very soft and smooth,
It can be hung on the wall with a magnet, It's all so wonderful and perfect. It has a long history in the market.
I used it with my magnetic connectors without any problem.
As for the weak points, first of all, depending on the size or postion where is attached, of the protective film, the case may interfere with the film.
Compared to other magnet type cases, it's not easy to detach.
Also, it is heavy as it looks.
So I have put together a checklist of issues that I have just told you about.
And I myself...
After 24 rounds, including the items I couldn't introduce this time, I've reached the conclusion that I use it without any case. Alas...
I use my 12.9" only inside the house, because mounted operation is the key to increased utilization.
And I use Moft's non-adhesive stand most often. It is really nice that it can be used in portrait mode as well.
Upside down, I can write notes while charging.
It's excellent to have two angles. Handwriting is done at a low angle,
When referring to my iPad, I can use it at a higher angle. It's very flexible.
If you have any more great items or important issues to add to the checklist, please feel free to comment. I would be very happy.
By the way, you can clean the screen with Elecom's cleaning liquid for LCD by spraying it on a cloth or Kimwipe.
In addition, I like to lean back, so I mount it next to the monitor,
If you want to work in an upright position, I recommend placing your iPad under the main monitor.
Humanity is the only one creature, that can modify the given environment, sometimes even against our own instincts,
then, reach a higher level. One of my neighbors said.
Will we be able to ride this big, heavy board? Or will this board ride us over?
If you think you can ride it out, please give a 'like'. If you are about to be ridden out, please "Subscribe" to my channel.
Thank you for watching until the end today,
This is Fantastic Workspace.
