Transcripts
hello everyone in this video we will
talk about the structure of an
introductory lesson and I will share
some tips on how to make it really cool
so let's get started
when you begin your introductory lesson
please start with a brief
self-presentation and self-introduction
and your self-presentation should be
adjusted to the age of your students
let's say that you are giving an
introductory lesson to coordinate
students these are students between five
to seven years old and for them it is
not really interesting to learn
something about your University degree
or about companies where you have had
internships
more interesting to learn something
about your favorite cartoons or maybe
your favorite ice cream and if you give
a lesson to White and students for them
the information about your University
background or maybe your experience in
ID companies will be much more
interesting however if you see that
parents are attending your introductory
lesson please make sure that you include
in your presentation box and facts
adjusted to the age of your students and
some facts that prove you to be a
professional as for parents this
information is really important
by the way speaking about parents when
you start your lesson please make sure
that you establish some limits and
framework what do I mean you say that
the duration of the introductory lesson
will be 45 minutes and then you explain
to parents their role
they shouldn't interfere in the lesson
they shouldn't give hints for maybe even
answer questions instead of their
children
you can tell them that you believe in
their children and that you are sure
that they are smart enough in order to
complete all their tasks on their own
and even if they have some problems or
difficulties you will be there in order
to help them
and if parents have some questions about
the course or the learning process they
will have a chance to ask all their
questions at the end of the introductory
lesson
you might have a question how should I
deal with parents if I give an
introductory lesson online
in this case please ask your students if
their parents are listening to you and
if they are sitting somewhere in the
room
if you understand that parents are
listening to you you can instruct them
accordingly and ask them to
ask all their questions at the end of
the lesson
so let's go to the next stage
at this stage we meet the group and make
them get acquainted with each other
the main objective of this stage is to
break the ice and create a warm and
friendly atmosphere
I will share my favorite activity which
I usually use at this stage
after presenting Myself And discussing
some rules I ask my students guys
I shared three facts about myself some
minutes ago
can you please remember these three
facts
and if I see that children have some
difficulties or some problems it's a
sign for me
maybe I should be more interactive in
order to engage them and make them
follow me or maybe I should speak a bit
slower
anyway I should change something in my
performance or I will lose the attention
of my students so this activity is fun
for kids but it also helps us teachers
to check if everything is going right
so when children have remembered all
three facts I tell them all right good
job and now I will tell you that two
facts are true and one fact is alive can
you guess
and when we finish this activity you can
ask children to come up with three facts
about themselves and to get acquainted
with each other in this way
after completing this stage we are
moving to the next one which is theory
and you don't need to create your own
materials where to create your own topic
everything is ready for you your task is
just to read carefully the
methodological guidelines and follow
them
I usually start this Stitch with
pre-assessment activity what does it
mean I usually ask my students what they
know about this topic already and this
helps me to understand if I can explain
the theory quickly and move on and spend
more time on practical tasks or whether
I need to give them a very detailed
explanation
after presenting and explaining in
theory we are moving to the next step
which is practice
where students do some tasks on the
platform your task as a teacher is to
monitor their progress instruct them
remind them of the time and of course
help if they need it
after completing tasks on the platform
we are moving to another stage which is
reflection please make sure that you
include this stage and don't skip it it
is really important because it helps you
as a teacher to evaluate the progress
and the impressions of your students
and it is also extremely important for
kids because they will talk once again
about their achievements about what
they've learned and it will really boost
their motivation
if you give classes online you can ask
children to send a number from 1 to 10
to the chat in order to rate the lesson
or you can ask them to send their
favorite emoji to the chat
and also at this stage it would be great
if you try to build a bridge to the next
lesson and tell the students what they
are going to do next time this will also
motivate them to join the course
and the next stage is communication with
parents where we can again introduce
ourselves very briefly say some words
about the course in general and invite
them to ask their questions
we will talk more about communication
with parents and how to deal with some
of their questions in another video
that's all for now thank you for your
attention
