since I was a kid in fact here's a

self-portrait of me when I was 6 years

old and I know what you're thinking

pretty good right let's not laugh let's

not laugh we all had pretty bad drawings

as a child so it's normal let normalize

not laughing at drawings made by

children so one of my last videos I did

was I learned a new thing every day for

7 days so I spent one day trying to

learn one thing and it was really fun it

got me itching to wanting to learn more

things and I thought what if I do it for

a longer time what if I learn to draw

then I can compare what I drew at the

beginning and then compare with the end

and be like wow at least that's what you

want to see right are you guys ready to

cringe it's all in here be nice okay I'm

a sensitive artist I want only good

feedback all right so day one I drew a

bunch of eyes because I thought every

day I'm going to learn to draw a

different body part that was a bad idea

which is precisely something that holds

a lot of beginner artists back from

improving focusing on trying to draw too

many things too soon makes it pretty

hard to learn anything at all I always

benefited from learning how to draw one

thing at a time and then practicing it

until I was comfortable enough to draw a

good representation of it without

looking at the reference my goal with

this was to get better right so yeah I

drew a bunch of stuff from my favorite

manga blam you can kind of tell it's

just a mess I don't even know the goal

of this was not to just draw a lot but

rather just draw a little bit every day

so day four I watched a tutorial I

watched a draw Along by akihito yoshii

uh really cool style so drawing along

yeah I guess it helped but it still

looks how it look looks like cool now I

know a lot of artists do this as well

where you find an artist you enjoy watch

a bunch of their tutorials and try to

draw along and I think it's a really

great way to practice and learn learning

the basics and fundamentals of any skill

is the only way to see progress if

you're trying to improve and get better

at it sometimes I see artists jump right

into learning how to paint like their

favorite artist or practicing drawing in

a certain art style just because their

favorite artist draws that way but then

they ignore learning about the basic

structure of the face and the body or

even learning about forms and how to

turn them around and draw them in

three-dimensional space Which is far

more important than learning to draw in

a certain art style or trying to learn a

fancy new drawing technique once you

learn the basics and understand how to

draw them from different angles you can

literally draw anything in any art style

without having too many problems I'm

cringing so

hard looking at

these I just can't seem to get it they

all look like elves

I don't know why day eight Drew my

second merch it's bad I erased parts of

it cuz I hated it that much Day N I

guess I felt like I did a little better

that one's kind of fun I'm not following

any refs or anything I'm just drawing

based on what I learned uh so sometimes

they turn out one what's really

interesting to note here is that he only

took 10 days practicing to draw faces

Which is far from what I would expect

from anyone learning to draw for the

first time but I'd say he did make a

little bit of progress from where he

started on day one to where he is now at

day 10 if this was me I would have still

taken more days to practice drawing the

head from different angles and just

learning about the ples of the face

since that will make learning how to

draw the features of the face much more

easier but he's just a beginner so no

pressure I guess day 11 I felt like okay

I should probably know how to draw a

body right so I practiced that a lot it

looks like I did a lot but I I drew this

so quickly that that I don't know just a

lot of bodies started adding heads to

them and it was extremely hard to for me

to get the proportions of the head and

the body right as you can see here on

the right that's not it now this was a

problem I ran into as well when I was

learning how to draw the figure and why

this kept on happening was because I was

learning how to draw each part separate

from the other so when I tried drawing

everything together it always looked out

of place the proportions were off

because I did not learn to draw taking

note of the proportion of each of the

features and then comparing them with

one another I think a better way to do

this is to draw with a box for the head

since it allows you to visualize the

proportions for the head while learning

to draw the body without having to focus

too much on drawing all the features of

the face after going nearly 20 days into

the challenge PewDiePie still continued

drawing and kept on being persistent

even during times where he looked at his

art and felt it was bad and he wasn't

improving a lot of other people

including Young Artists will just give

up at this point Point especially if

they were new to artart because seeing

yourself make little or no improvement

in something you have been practicing

hard at for weeks is pretty depressing

not going to lie but I guess having

someone tell you you're doing okay and

reassuring you to keep going helps to

ease the stress of self-denial and keeps

you focused and motivated now before we

artists who are also sharing their Art

will actually help them improve but

instead all they get is people laughing

at them for how bad their art is and

bullying them just because they can and

that somehow makes them feel better and

safer for their own lack of skill like

what imagine if you spent that time

learning how to draw instead of bullying

other artists do you realize the amount

of progress you would have made by now

anyways maybe that's just me you do you

I guess I randomly picked up this manga

to study Japanese but I really like the

character it's called Kindergarten Wars

it was really fun to draw this character

I really really enjoyed it just like

goofy style chbi or whatever but also

kind of cute some stuff day 28 I

couldn't believe it I could felt like I

could finally

draw I'm not saying these are great

right but they're so much better than

they used to be all of a sudden it just

kind of clicked I was so happy I feel

like it's a bit cringe for a 34y old man

to draw anime but at least I felt like I

was improving and that was all I was

going with these are all from different

anime or Manga but I feel like they're

quite good I don't want to sound like

arrogant but I looked at these and I was

like I couldn't believe I drew them I

drew these how there's two things we can

learn here the more you practice from

reference by copying other artists or

photos or drawings that you like without

tracing it becomes second nature for you

to remember the shapes of what you're

trying to draw but for you to actually

learn and have it ingrained in your head

you need to attempt drawing what you

have learned without looking at the

reference or copying from it that way

you can practice what you have learned

and try to push yourself to draw it on

your own but the most important thing is

always keep trying to improve keep

practicing keep studying even after you

see improvement keep drawing and keep

striving to be better than you were

yesterday that's a secret that not a lot

of you are using which is such a shame

but not for PewDiePie because after his

initial challenge of forcing himself to

draw for 30 days and making a video

about it was successful he decided to

keep going and push himself to draw for

100 days after seeing the reactions of

everyone on the first video in my last

video I decided to try and practice

drawing every day for 30 days and I

realized this is amazing I'm having so

much fun and I could compare the result

when I started to at after 30 days and

it was a big difference so it really

made me motivated to keep going and

especially with everyone in the comments

being so supported therefore I continued

and we're at day 100 I drew every day

for 100 days so let's look at the result

this is where I started off at day Zero

and this is where we left off at day 30

I really didn't like these I bought

these markers or pens to fill in I

thought it would automatically make it

better but it was just really hard you

know 5 days after I had done my video I

felt like I just lost sort of what I had

gained like I was so mad about it and I

felt like a fraud like oh did I just

trick everyone cuz I couldn't draw

anymore I think it's pretty normal to

feel this way especially because he was

just starting out drawing and he was

pretty much consistent for the most part

so I believe he just needed a break from

drawing all the time and focusing on art

to focus on other things and rest his

brain a little of course when you come

back your drawings will sucker bit but

once you start to practice again for a

while you'll be able to remember most of

what you had learned before kind of like

muscle memory but for artists what I

like the most about this part of

PewDiePie's video is that even after

having so many bad drawings he just

never gave up and still kept on going

with the challenge having bad days is

pretty normal for every artist some days

you could wake up and literally feel

like you have forgotten how to draw no

matter how hard you try but it's also

part of the learning process and is a

stage I think every artist will get used

to eventually embrace the ugly stage it

doesn't last forever but you have to

understand that the ugly days are as

important as the days where you feel

motivated and inspired to draw so you

have to get through all the shitty

drawings first before the good drawing

start to show up so my favorite rhythm

game is called tuni them sun and they

have these characters that are really

interesting cuz they're so detailed and

fun and weird so I really like drawing

these and I feel like I got the

proportions decent enough which I

couldn't do before so yeah I love

drawing these it's fun to try out

different styles I have not developed my

own and I'm just trying to draw

different things that I see and like as

much as possible and that's what

everyone told me as well the best way to

improve is draw from reference so I feel

like to draw with reference or without

reference debate you have died out by

now it's obvious that everyone knows how

important reference is for artists

having a reference and using it to draw

not only makes your draw drawings look

way better but it also teaches you about

the forms you're trying to draw and

forces you to take into consideration

little things like proportions shapes

and other things that make your drawings

look better in the long run also can we

just take a minute to appreciate how

much improvement he was able to make

with his art I for one hate the advice

of drawing every day but it appears

PewDiePie somehow managed to make it

work while staying consistent and

finding ways to motivate himself all

through the challenge another thing I

started to noticed was how confident his

lines were becoming after he started

getting comfortable drawing a lot now he

could fill up pages instead of making

tiny little drawings and his Strokes

were much more solid and less shaky his

drawings were beginning to look and feel

like someone who had already been

drawing for a while which makes me

wonder pens the green one it was really

bad in the beginning but I used the

other end of it and I think it's it was

just too strong I never used a marker

before so I I wasn't sure how to do it

so I bought my own markers just to kind

of try it out and obviously takes more

time to color stuff but I really enjoyed

doing it and it sort of makes them come

to life more and I was trying out

different things sometimes it doesn't

work to jump straight into using pens

and markers like that that was a little

too fast for an absolute

beginner do you realize how many artists

on Tik Tok have been struggling to draw

and have barely made any significant

progress in their work and P is already

drawing with clean strokes and inking

with pens yellow which I really try out

different me too scared to color this

one

oh my new favorite I love this one this

is on day 84 this is nice to look at I

think it works so it took

me 40 days to feel like I drew something

I like

again wow I'm I'm really impressed with

all the progress he has made I I can't

even lie man has probably made more

progress than almost half of the art

community in less than 100 days and he's

still going at it like he just did

nothing it's really impressive and goes

to show that anyone can do it if you're

determined enough and consistently show

up for yourself and practice I forgot to

do the comparison so this is where I was

at 30 days and this is where we're at

now maybe you can't tell a massive

difference but I I I can tell a massive

difference I feel so much more confident

drawing now and I can draw quicker less

attempts and also just to be able to

incorporate color I hope in a year I can

develop my own style more uh but we'll

see you guys then I definitely spent

more time this time around than just 10

minutes a day which is kind of the point

you know it's just a way to make you set

a goal to do something for 10 minutes a

day it's a great way to make you keep

going at it and I was having so much fun

doing it anyway whatever goals you have

I believe in you you can do it I think

we can learn a lot from PewDiePie's

determination and persistence in

learning a new skill for every artist

who's struggling and is confused as to

why they're not improving as much as

they should well it's really simple it's

not about drawing aimlessly every day

and throwing at the wall hoping

that something will stick you have to

have a decent plan of approach for

things like this there needs to be a

structure to how you approach in

learning how to draw and practice it

create a study routine where you learn

and practice the fundamentals of art

each week and then when you start to see

progress you can move on to the next one

and start practicing that keep it simple

you don't need to learn any fancy

techniques or art styles at the

beginning and neither do you need any

fancy equipment to start out with find

an artist you enjoy or an art style you

like and draw using that from time to

time just to try and get into the artist

head and learn from them but as you're

doing that also remember remember you're

learning the artist's mistakes as well

so also go back and practice the

fundamentals too from life and from

photos make sure you have a solid basic

foundation and understand the

fundamentals of art once you learn them

you can literally draw in any art style
