Baker um first I'd like to say good
evening and um I haven't been to this
event in about 20
years and uh I'm proud to say I still
see some of the same faces that I've
seen um that I saw 20 years ago and I
see a lot of new faces lot of young
people which I'm glad to see that the
game of baseball is healthy by having so
many young people on so many um faces
here that hopefully I'll see in the
future but um I wasn't supposed to um
present this award actually I'm I'm
pinch hitting for um will
phell and uh I don't know eight jokes so
I'm not going to I'm not going to make
it laugh trust me but you know um I've
uh seen two-way players before in my
career I've seen about everything and um
I had one of the best two-way players in
baseball and Michael Owens and uh I've
seen Bruce Kik uh with the Milwaukee
Brewers but I've never seen anybody this
is talented um as one time and U I saw
it firsthand many many times um I um
I've seen the best in baseball
especially from from Japan uh I know uh
masori marami I think I'm pronouncing
his name right was uh with the Giants um
and I was like okay I was talking to him
I also had um the pleasure of
managing uh what I've seen each Ro you
know who I thought was one of the best
of all time I mean this guy was a
magician with the bat um I've seen Lil
matui who I thought was a musician and
it's short stop I've seen big Matt suie
uh power hitter that was with the
Yankees and
uh it's very hard for me to like appla
the Yankees take
CH cuz they used to beat on my teams all
the time as a kid the Dodgers and they
beat on me when I was on the Dodgers
but you know you got a call Spade to
spade and he was great and u u noo was
great I mean noo was outstanding when I
was in San Francisco he was tough on us
and um last but not least I had a CO cjo
I don't know if anybody here seen s s Jo
had the blonde chip hair and all this
stuff but this guy um is one of the best
I've ever seen he's a combination of all
of them and he's humble uh sometime he
he used to make me mad because he used
to um look at me right before he went to
the home plate and he' always like and
I'm trying to act like I'm writing
something down and I peek up like this
and he's still looking at me so he'd go
like this he noded to me I noded to him
and then he did a
home I look up in the stands my wife
who's Filipino she's taking a picture of
after get home run
then he'd go out on the mound he'd
knocked to me again I knock back to him
then he strike out the first three guys
that came to the play so I mean this is
uh I mean this guy is one like I said
he's one of the most talented players
I've ever seen and I told him I said man
you are a bad man
see I don't think he really understood
what I was talking about I think a bad
bad I mean if you one of the bad cats
that I ever seen play this game and I
see seen a whole bunch of them so I just
