I'm super happy to be here this is this

is so exciting we've spent a lot of time

putting this together there's a ton of

people watching live there's a lot of

you here in person I'm really excited

that you're all here today

um for those of you I haven't gotten a

chance to meet I'll do a quick

introduction my name is Lee Byron I got

a day job my day job is to work at a

company called Watershed where I'm an

engineering lead I support a team who's

building a climate platform which is a

suite of tools to help large companies

understand and manage their climate

impact in addition to that and relevant

to this crowd here today I was one of

the co-creators of graphql helped open

source it and founded and direct the

graphiel foundation which is the host of

this event

thank you all for coming this is great

um we have a lot of awesome stuff to get

to today

it's going to be great

and I really want to introduce graphql

conf as a thing because this is kind of

our inaugural event as being a solo

thing we've done meetups we've attached

to other events we've done many things

that the graphql foundation has

sponsored to help bring the community

together but this is the first time that

we've had our own Standalone event and

I'm really really pleased with how it's

coming together a huge thank you to

everyone who's helped organize this

including the LF events team our

graphical Foundation board members

particularly a handful of folks on a

committee that was putting this together

if you like this event let us know if

you've got feedback for how to do it

better next time let us know that too

we're going to keep doing this we're

going to keep getting better at it this

is the event to have a broad tent

this is the vendor-wide ecosystem-wide

place to talk about all things graphql

from Hobby projects

to interesting experimental bleeding

edge crazy stuff to stable Enterprise

ready tools and everything in between

all of you folks are building those

tools using those tools you are the

community that's making this whole thing

to come together to talk about all of

this is all of you getting to meet each

other and learn from those of you who

are actually making this stuff work and

having it interconnect and create

something larger than some of its parts

unconference and the Meetup event

oh yeah okay at least half probably more

than half fantastic I thought that was

just an amazing way to kick things off

Community oriented at its hub making

sure that there is ample time for

everyone to come together and meet each

other it's what this event is all about

but we've got lots and lots of stuff to

get to today and tomorrow as well

today's theme is much more of the Here

and Now what is getting built today

tomorrow's theme is looking ahead into

the future

roughly some boundaries at the seams but

I really hope that you all enjoy it
