lot of grumpy old bluecollar guys were
commenting bitching uh so now that I
have this longer format video I can go
into it a little better good help is
hard to find that's a common thing you
hear especially in the blue collar
trades that good help is hard to find uh
and I found it funny that the people
that had a problem with this I would
click their and it was just like
some old grumpy looking guy
uh not all of them but a lot of them and
some people some people commented and
were like yeah you're exactly right all
right if you're the type of person that
says good help is hard to find do you
know what that tells me about you it
tells me that you're a shitty boss it
tells me that you're not committed to
your employees that you don't take uh
being an employer serious you don't take
the responsibility of having employee
serious it shows me that you're not
really committed to Growing your
business or professionalizing your
business or making it a good place to
work um it shows me that you're probably
a little lazy you probably overd
delegate when you don't deserve to be
delegating as much as you're
delegating it probably shows me
that um you haven't you haven't created
systems for your employees where they
can just work the systems you're you're
probably trying to rely on everybody to
be Superstars while underpaying them it
tells me a lot about you because I don't
care what business you're
in say say you're a
painter and you're one of these painters
that's bitching because good help's hard
to find and you constantly have this
revolving door of painters that don't
stay with you or this revolving door of
office employees that don't stay with
you ask yourself this question is there
a large successful Painting Company in
your area

wait I'm sure there is do you think that
the owner of that company is complaining
every day that good help is hard to find
I promise you he's not I promise
you he's not he probably has very little
turnover obviously you're not going to
eliminate turnover but if he's a large
successful business in your local area
he's got people that have been there for
a long time and the reason he has people
that have been there for a long time is
that on some level he's a good employer
he treats his people good he invests in
his company he buys trucks for his
people he gives his people raises he
treats his people good if they need help
he probably helps them whether it be in
their work life or their personal life
their family life he probably helps them
the company has probably grown in front
of a lot of the team members eyes so
they're excited to be a part of what
this guy is doing he probably makes it
easy for people to do their jobs meaning
like the painters when they show up to a
house everything is ready to go for them
they have the proper equipment they have
the proper tools all the materials on
site everything runs smooth he probably
doesn't miss days so like his guys work
every single day there's a lot of things
that guy's doing that you're not doing
and that's why he doesn't struggle to
find good help I have roofers that show
up in my office constantly for work uh
do I know that they're all good or not
not yet cuz I've never tried them but
there's plenty of good roofers in my
area there's thousands of them so for me
to sit here and complain good help is
hard toine you have to look at yourself
why don't people want to work for me and
if you're not committed to making it a
good place to work for your employees
why would anyone want to work for you
cuz you should and there's other places
there's competitors in your area that
are committed to making it a good place
to work and business is
competitive so why would I come work
work for your company when your company
is unorganized you make it hard for me
to do my job uh maybe you don't have
work for me every day maybe the office
is unorganized if I work in the office
maybe you have no systems in your
business you just hope to hire some
Superstar to clean up your business for
you instead of you hiring someone and
saying look this is how it goes this is
how we do this when this happens you do
this if you can't do all that for your
employees then you're always going to
say Good Help is hard to find and it's a
cop out you're trying to make yourself
feel good like there's a problem with
the labor market but really there's a
problem with you and I still hear this
to this day and like people people talk
to me like uh they always say it like oh
well you you you know you're a roof and
good help's hard to find and like I just
let them say it I don't really like come
at their throat for saying it although I
kind of want to I just kind of yeah yeah
I know good helps hard to find the truth
is I've never felt like that not one day
in my business never once I've never
felt that in my entire career in
business that good out was hard to find
I feel like I have great people I feel
like I have the best
team and simultaneously I have people in
the same business as me in the same area
as me complaining that good help is hard
to F I'm like no man it's you it's you
you don't work hard enough you're not
committed enough you want to take
weekends when you you haven't earned the
right to take weekends yet you don't fix
your website you don't fix your office
systems you have no uh like balls or or
hope to grow your business nobody wants
to be in a dead business nobody wants to
be a secretary in your business for
their entire life nobody wants that but
if that's what you offer well then of
course people are going to leave you
there's not a person on the
planet I feel well that's not true most
people don't want to do the same job for
their whole life but that's the type of
opportunity you give them
for small pay because you're sitting
there trying to save all your pennies
because you don't want to grow your
business you don't invest in your
business you're just trying to make as
much money as you can out of your little
dinky
business meanwhile you're not taking
care of the people that you employ the
people that are supposed to do the job
for you you treat them like and
then you you make yourself feel good
like it's like it's everybody else's
fault but really it's your fault so if
you say that good help is hard to find
uh I I just know that you're a terrible
employer and you're probably not cut out
to own your own business and this this
video will probably piss people off Al
this isn't Tik Tok this is YouTube so
not that many people will see it but if
you've ever said that in your entire
life that good help is hard to find you
need to look at yourself and need to ask
these questions am I clearly on a
trajectory of growth in my
business do I have all the systems
implemented in my business to make this
as seamless a place to work work as
possible do I treat my employees good
with respect will I help them in their
life will I help them in a family
emergency will I give them a loan will I
do all those kinds of
things do I have steady work for these
guys or are they only working three days
a week is everything always ready to go
for these guys do I work hard alongside
them because I have this small business
or do I expect everybody to do
everything for for me and I'm like this
absentee owner even though I haven't
built a real business
yet um all these questions you know do I
put people in a truck or do I make them

nice truck or do I put them in a piece
of like all these things are in the
minds of an employee like an employee is
going to be judging you from day one as
soon as they
start you have to know that they're
going to be skeptical of you they're
going to be watching you and if when
they're watching you and when they're
skeptical of you you don't rise to the
occasion they're not going to respect
you and they're going to look for
somewhere else to go and you know where
they're going to go they're going to go
to the competitor down the street that
has a large successful business because
he's always taken care of his employees
he's always been invested and growing
his company and that's who gets the good
people business is competitive and if
you don't compete you're going to be the
guy sitting there Grumpy in your rocking
chair yeah I had a business one time but
none of these want to work
