📝 How to Start Making $10K a Month as a Beginner
The speaker shares advice for beginners interested in making $10K a month by focusing on skills that generate revenue for businesses. Highlights
The speaker shares advice for beginners, focusing on selling to businesses rather than consumers because businesses have more money.
To make money, get good at something that can make someone else money, ideally something you can sell to a rich business owner.
The three key skills needed are writing (for sales and appointments), verbal sales skills, and a third skill that generates revenue (e.g., websites, Facebook ads, etc.).
Beginners should focus on skill acquisition, starting with free resources like YouTube to get context and learn.
The speaker recommends investing 30-60 minutes per day improving key skills like sales, copywriting, and lead generation.
Approaching agency owners to offer freelance or employment opportunities is a practical way to gain real-world experience and mentorship.
Start by working for an agency, which offers feedback and the chance to hone skills through client work.
Outreach is crucial. Beginners should aim to contact at least 100 agency owners daily to find freelance work and improve their outreach skills.
Skill improvement combined with outreach will eventually lead to paying clients, even if some initial efforts fail.
Working within an established agency helps beginners understand the dynamics of online organizations and client management.
After learning and honing skills, transition from working for agencies to securing direct freelance clients.
Constant feedback, mentorship, and real-world practice help build confidence and competence in selling services.
The speaker shares their own experience of cold messaging potential clients, landing their first email marketing job, and figuring out how to deliver on the fly.
Selling to wealthy clients is preferable because they can afford higher-priced services, unlike restaurants or lower-margin businesses.
Ultimately, success comes from not giving up, constant outreach, and continually improving one's core skill set.
Transcripts
so uh I don't usually make videos for
beginners specifically mostly because I
don't sell to them but a guy from
Australia messaged me and he was selling
websites to restaurants so I thought I'd
just get on here and try and give him
some advice uh and you know what I
thought I may as well post it if I'm
going to record it cuz I'm ass sure
there's you know there's a lot of people
that could use this sort of information
from someone that's actually done it
before and doesn't really have a vested
interest in selling you something
something um if you are a beginner to be
honest the only value that you are to me
is if you make a lot of money and then I
can work with you later so you know
incentives
aligned uh basically when I'm looking at
just trying to start making 10K a month
really the only thing you need to do is
get good at something that you can make
someone else money because the problem
is that when you're like when you're
trying to sell something ideally you
want to sell something to a business cuz
they've got money you don't really want
to sell to Consumers and you want to
just sell to rich people cuz obviously
they've you know they've got the biggest
wallets so that's what I'm thinking
first of all it's like what can I do
that's going to make someone else money
well it's kind of tough because if
you've got no money you don't know how
to make someone else money so I would
kind of scroll YouTube and I would just
look for one skill that I can then
couple with two other skills the skills
you you're going to need are going to be
number one is writing like you're going
to need to be able to sell via the
written word and set appointments that's
number one number two is you're going to
need to learn learn how to uh sell with
your your actual words so you're going
to need to learn sales you're going to
need to learn a little bit of lead gen
and then you're going to need a third
thing that can make someone money so you
might be able to do copywriting you
might be able to do um you know you
might be able to do sales or Le genen
for other people you might be doing
websites you might be doing Facebook ads
whatever it is you just need one thing
that you can sell to some rich person to
make the money that is it everything
else is complete [ __ ] like whether
you do growth operating or Drop Shipping
I wouldn't do Drop Shipping but whether
you do growth operating or email
marketing or Google ads or Facebook ads
or AI Automation in reality they're all
the same [ __ ] you're just trying to get
an outcome for another person and then
sell them that
outcome simply put don't need to get it
too complicated the next thing that you
need to focus on so you've got your
three skills you need to focus on
improving these three skills so I would
schedule 30 to 60 minutes per day
getting better at those things if you
have no [ __ ] idea what those things
are and you have no idea how to get good
at them the first part of getting good
is going to just be getting context so
I'd want to be flooding my brain with
information ASAP as possible what that
means is if you've got money I would
just buy a course like that's what I did
that's what a lot of people I know have
done um it's you know it's could be a
scam so I would be careful um about you
know people you trust and stuff if
someone's trying to flex too hard that's
usually a good sign sign that it is a
scam so I wouldn't go that hard with
people like that the next thing is that
you want to go to YouTube so you have
courses you have books you have YouTube
to me YouTube is the best place to start
because obviously it's free it's easy to
learn and you can just Spam YouTube
videos on 2x speed so you're scheduling
time every single day to get better at
sales writing and your third skill that
you
choose do 30 to 60 minutes per day
initially watching YouTube videos
answering questions that you have about
that thing if you don't have questions
just go abroad if your skills
copywriting watch the whole first page
of search results for copywriting write
down in a book like this every single
question you have that comes up while
you're looking for information about
that skill like what's a headline what's
a Fascination what's a bullet what's
some good examples of copy all of these
things are going to be coming up and
you're going to write them down as
you're watching that first page then
you're getting this context you're
getting this context you need to
practice now so you're kind of mixing uh
the acquisition process between getting
that initial context and then uh actual
you know applying it something you can
do that's really underrated is going and
approaching an agency owner or someone
who sells that service already and
offering to be an employee for them or a
freelance contractor an employee or
whatever a lot of people that if you if
you're actually good like if you're
actually getting good and you want to
get
good of course they'll pay you if you're
actually you know decent and you should
be decent if you do the YouTube and
applying uh the stuff and getting your
work in I would do my initial Outreach
to people already selling that thing
because you need to get better you need
feedback you need a little bit of
mentorship you probably don't have that
much money to pay someone who's actually
good to teach all this stuff so you need
to bring value to them by working for
them you're probably not going to get
paid that much might be you know 2 2 to
5K a month if you're lucky 5K but that's
a great place to start just get a job at
an agency all the while you're improving
your skills uh you learn Outreach
because you're probably going to have to
reach out to a bunch of agency owners to
learn how to do the actual
skill but all of a sudden instead of
just doing the skill into the void
you're doing client work you're speaking
with clients you're learning from the
the agency own you're learning what a
what a real business looks like you're
learning what it's like to even be in an
organization that's an online
organization and how it works cuz then
you're going to learn slack taking
meetings that sort of [ __ ] and most
importantly you're going to get feedback
on the stuff you're creating so if
you're doing copyrighting you're going
to get told if you're [ __ ] sucks you're
going to get told if it's good you're
going to hone in that skill and you can
probably stack two or three of these and
get an insane amount of reps over 90
days and probably get to 10K a month
that way just by helping people already
selling the skill to uh basically
fulfill for their
clients what that allows is it just let
you get your skills up really well get a
lot of of reps and understand that you
can actually fulfill that thing like you
can actually do it and you you can be
good at it uh because a lot of beginners
have problems with um not knowing if
they can fulfill the service so they
don't even want to sell clients so you
can just sell to a someone already
selling that service they can just teach
you get your skills up and I don't
necessarily endorse just kind of like
rumping the business owner for all their
information and then leaving but it's
actually a good ide you know if you know
you want to run your own thing the best
thing you can do is work in a business
that's already doing that thing so get
your skills up stack a couple of
freelance jobs like that get really good
and you're learning Outreach like I said
CU you're going to have to reach out to
the agency owners just do like 100 a day
so you're doing your skill acquisition
then you're doing 100 outreaches per day
to agencies who already sell that skill
stack two or three of those uh it's
basically like applying for a job so it
shouldn't be shouldn't be too hard then
over time you're going to actually be
pretty good like you're going to
actually get decent at the skill and
then the Outreach skills that you
learned from dming or emailing all of
those agency owners all you have to do
is do Outreach for clients and you're
already going to be decent at the skill
you're going to learn more about
Outreach and sales because you're doing
that skill acquisition you're going to
know do your out for clients and that is
how you make money like you only make
money by selling especially at the start
money doesn't just fall in your lap so
you got to think how am I going to sell
some stuff oh [ __ ] well I need to learn
how to DM I need to learn how to email I
need to learn how to do a sales call I
need to download Zoom I need to do all
this stuff so you do
that and by this time probably about 3
months 6 months you're going to have a
lot more
context you're probably going to learn
that a lot of the DM strategy you used
completely sucked they didn't get any
replies but you're just constantly
improving this and learning the
skill eventually you're going to get
clients and you're going to [ __ ] up and
maybe one will churn and you're going to
lose all your money and then you're
going to get more clients you're going
to constantly be doing Outreach every
single day and you're constantly going
to be getting better at your skill every
single day and maybe you just keep
selling to agencies because you find out
you like that and that's just what you
want to do but that will work that will
work that's exactly I've I've had a
couple friends that I've um helped and
they they just did that and they made
plenty of money they eventually went out
on their own made even more money so
that's where I would start that's all
you need to do get your initial skills
get a couple of um retainers and just do
Outreach so the stuff you're doing every
day is maybe 2 to 3 hours of skill
acquisition making a mock portfolio with
all your practice stuff doing Outreach
every single day getting feedback
improving and then switching your
Outreach from getting freelance clients
to just getting agency clients and it's
the exact same thing it is that simple
like people online love to make it more
difficult than it is they love to say
you need to do some AI [ __ ] but the
truth is business owners want to make
money and they want to save time so you
just have to figure out how to do that
and then figure out how to speak to
business owners figure out how to sell
which is all stuff that's available on
YouTube that is more than enough to get
to 10K a month I've seen people get to
10K a month with less than that knowing
nothing and they just sell the first
time I ever got a client all I did I DMD
five people and said hey do you want
some emails done for you got on a call
with them and closed the first guy he's
actually like kind of famous which I
know now like at the time I obviously
knew he was famous but I didn't know him
I just dmed him got on a call with him I
said uh yeah the price is
2K I'll do half up front and half
afterwards and I just I didn't even know
what I I didn't didn't know email never
done it before I just
decided you know it's not rocket science
I can figure it out I can watch a few
Chase Diamond videos and figure out how
to do email marketing
then I did it and you know the emails
were okay and that was what it was I
never even sold another email client I
just wanted to sell something um and
that's kind of how it is you know that
you just have to go you just have to do
Outreach sell a skill that's it like
people really over complicated a lot and
they really go in the wrong direction
like selling to selling to restaurants
it's going to be hard they don't make
any money like they don't have they
don't have any margin so you want to
sell to rich people like that's like I
would just be thinking even just that at
a base level like who do I know that's
rich like who do I know that makes a lot
of money and I'll just talk to them and
just see they'll give you advice like
people are really generous with their
time when someone's really um genuine
some people aren't but a lot of people
will be so I would just start with that
uh and go from there because once you've
got your initial money you start
learning about the space and your
awareness really goes up and that's
almost the most important thing is that
you starting to just understand [ __ ] a
little bit better um and yeah of course
you [ __ ] up but you're not going to go
through anything without making mistakes
so really it's all the stuff I said in
this video and then just not giving up
and doing a [ __ ] ton of Outreach and
getting better at your
skill as much as I don't want to say
like learn a high income skill because
that's what everyone says um that's kind
of what you have to do and then you
stack more skills on top of that with
the sales the writing and all that other
stuff um and then you wake up one day
and you're like oh [ __ ] I actually make
money now that's pretty cool um and you
keep having that realization every time
you go to a new place or meet a new
person and it goes pretty well for you
so yeah hopefully this video helped bit
of a change of pace but yeah now I can
send this to everyone when they ask me
how to make 10K month so that's good
