play00:00

welcome back to today's video today is

play00:01

Saturday September 14th 2024 and today

play00:04

we are going to be talking about the

play00:05

2024 presidential election forecast from

play00:08

538 5 days after the first and only

play00:11

presidential debate between vice

play00:13

president kamla Harris and former

play00:14

president Donald Trump this presidential

play00:17

debate comes at a time where both sides

play00:19

of the aisle have been in a very

play00:20

competitive presidential election the

play00:22

odds have been tightening over the past

play00:24

two weeks and it has come to a point

play00:25

where any and all impacts on the left

play00:27

wing on the right wing have started to

play00:29

change the trory of the race in one

play00:31

candidate's favor over the other now K

play00:33

Harris had been at 60% roughly 3 to 4

play00:36

weeks ago she had been riding high and

play00:38

had been graining in terms of the

play00:39

overall forecast 538 initially had her

play00:41

losing against Donald Trump when she

play00:43

first became the presumptive and then

play00:44

the eventual nomin for the Democratic

play00:46

party but as we got closer to the

play00:48

Democratic Convention and as we got

play00:50

closer to that first presidential debate

play00:51

she had maintained a lead Nationwide but

play00:54

just around a week ago in fact less than

play00:55

on Monday evening 538 had KLA Harris at

play00:58

just a 55% chance a victory Nationwide

play01:01

now you might be thinking 5% really

play01:02

doesn't make a difference but in an

play01:03

election as close as this one it

play01:05

absolutely does and what we've started

play01:07

to see is that this impact in terms of K

play01:09

Harris gaining and support isn't

play01:11

necessarily saying that she's here to

play01:13

completely run off the map but she is in

play01:15

fact doing better tremendously better in

play01:17

some of these Battleground States

play01:18

especially compared to that of President

play01:20

Joe Biden Across the Nation and so 538

play01:23

forecast what I really want to unpack

play01:24

here is the impact of this presidential

play01:27

debate as we've started to see new major

play01:29

headlines and in terms of national polls

play01:30

from the morning consult and Reuters and

play01:32

ipsos that are showing KLA Harris

play01:34

expanding her National lead not a single

play01:36

poll released nationally over the past

play01:37

four days that has been conducted post

play01:39

debate has shown Donald Trump in the

play01:41

advantage over KLA Harris and in a

play01:43

number of battleground State polls to

play01:45

what are we finding KLA Harris is

play01:46

starting to to do better and so it isn't

play01:49

just that either right the polls are one

play01:50

thing the other big part of elections

play01:52

are finances and KLA Harris raising $47

play01:54

million after the first and only

play01:57

presidential debate this is a huge sum

play01:59

of money with just two months to go in

play02:00

the election when Democrats are already

play02:02

sitting on a war chest of half a billion

play02:04

dollars not to mention that the

play02:06

political betting markets have started

play02:07

to change in favor of KL Harris today

play02:08

she stands as the favorite over Donald

play02:10

Trump despite being uh in the losing

play02:12

category for the past month on the poly

play02:14

Market forecast and so overall here what

play02:16

we have found is that KLA Harris is in

play02:18

fact receiving a debate bump while it

play02:20

isn't something that would say KLA

play02:22

Harris has guaranteed the presidency it

play02:24

puts her closer to matching uh that

play02:26

magic number of 270 whereas previously

play02:28

it looked a little bit more difficult to

play02:30

get to so I want to unpack the 538

play02:32

forecast here showing KLA Harris with

play02:34

nearly a 20% Delta between her and the

play02:36

former president 60 to 40 is arguably a

play02:39

position that Democrats would have

play02:40

killed for a year ago and are probably

play02:43

very happy that they're at this point

play02:44

now but it's still not a point of

play02:46

complacency but 60 to 40 does in fact

play02:48

show a clear Advantage for one political

play02:50

party over the other and in this case

play02:52

that political party of course is the

play02:54

Democratic party and we can take a look

play02:55

too looking at the forecast over time

play02:57

right up until this presidential debate

play02:59

September 10th was debate day KLA Harris

play03:02

was at 54% in terms of her odds

play03:04

Nationwide and so in the immediate

play03:05

aftermath of the debate it didn't look

play03:07

like at least we were on track for an

play03:09

uptick until New debate numbers so

play03:12

showed differently the day after the

play03:14

presidential debate her numbers stayed

play03:15

roughly the same on the 12th they stayed

play03:16

roughly the same but then our two new

play03:18

sets of national polls came out showing

play03:20

KLA Harris in a better position some new

play03:22

Statewide polls and now today she has

play03:23

inched up to a 60% chance of Victory

play03:26

this November election and like I was

play03:28

saying this has been driven by some

play03:30

Battleground states that have

play03:31

historically been very positive for the

play03:34

Republican Party States like North

play03:35

Carolina and Georgia and Arizona that

play03:37

have started to Titan in a positive way

play03:39

for KLA Harris and put her in a really

play03:41

strong position when it comes down to

play03:42

these Battleground States not to mention

play03:44

States like Wisconsin showing her at a

play03:46

64% chance of Victory States like

play03:48

Michigan showing at a 61% chance of

play03:50

Victory States like Pennsylvania showing

play03:52

her a 56% chance of Victory because when

play03:54

you take a look at some of these other

play03:55

states Nevada for instance has KLA

play03:58

Harris at 55 to 45 Arizona for instance

play04:01

has her tied with Donald Trump 50 to

play04:03

5050 Georgia has K Harris up narrowly 51

play04:06

to 49 and North Carolina state that

play04:08

Democrats really really want has her

play04:10

tide against Donald Trump the overall

play04:14

electoral map here and the math here is

play04:16

strong for Democrats especially given

play04:18

that this Advantage has now started to

play04:20

increase right what it would look like

play04:21

translating to an actual electoral map I

play04:24

mean you're looking more at something

play04:25

like this right taking away uh not even

play04:27

taking away we haven't even given it yet

play04:28

but not including Arizona which was a

play04:30

Biden state in 2020 but if you include

play04:32

Georgia and the State of Arizona I mean

play04:34

chances are Democrats are set in this

play04:36

election right they're at 292 electoral

play04:39

votes uh give them Nevada give them

play04:41

Colorado give them New Mexico give them

play04:42

Georgia they're at 292 electoral votes

play04:45

more than the magic number of 270 even

play04:47

if you take away a state like Georgia

play04:49

for instance Democrats still maintain at

play04:51

276 and so Democrats really aren't in a

play04:53

position where uh you know they're

play04:55

losing nationally with the current 538

play04:57

forecast and so a good example of this

play04:58

would be a state like for instance that

play05:00

prior to the debate Donald Trump was not

play05:02

necessarily what I would call the Clear

play05:04

favorite but was still in the advantage

play05:06

right when you take a look at her

play05:07

numbers now KLA Harris is at 51% but

play05:09

right up until that debate the numbers

play05:11

started to turn away from KLA Harris in

play05:12

fact they're roughly at the highest

play05:14

point they've ever been on the 538

play05:15

forecast because from the beginning

play05:17

Donald Trump has been in the advantage

play05:18

on the moment they started tracking

play05:20

these data points Donald Trump had a 59%

play05:22

chance of Victory and you can see that

play05:23

over time it started to Chip and Chip

play05:25

and Chip and K Harris started to get

play05:26

into a better position but even up until

play05:28

that debate Donald Trump had a 54%

play05:31

chance of Victory KLA Harris had just

play05:32

46% across the state so Democrats now

play05:35

with KLA Harris being in the advantage

play05:37

in Georgia really only have the debate

play05:39

to thank for that there hasn't been some

play05:41

type of massive Reckoning on the

play05:42

national scale as to uh you know who's

play05:44

supporting Who besides the fact that

play05:46

there are voters in the swayable states

play05:49

that are changing their minds after

play05:50

seeing KLA Harris's debate performance

play05:52

not to mention that the national numbers

play05:54

of course impact some of these down

play05:55

ballot races if comml Harris tomorrow

play05:57

was to win the national popular vote by

play05:58

nine points she's winning Georgia and a

play06:00

whole lot of other states if it's a

play06:02

onepoint Advantage chances are she's

play06:04

losing Georgia and a whole lot of other

play06:05

states and so when you start to see

play06:07

kamla Harris have a impact and a

play06:09

positive one nationally it does

play06:11

translate to down ballot residual

play06:13

effects or uh swing state residual

play06:15

effects where KLA Harris is starting to

play06:17

do better and so I think this is

play06:18

something that we have seen roughly

play06:20

across the country right Arizona is now

play06:21

50-50 whereas Donald Trump was in the

play06:23

advantage North Carolina is 50-50

play06:25

whereas Donald Trump was in the

play06:26

advantage and the key Point here is the

play06:28

word was because it is at this point

play06:31

comml Harris at a 60 to 40 advantage

play06:33

that puts her well within a reasonable

play06:35

chance at winning almost all of these

play06:37

Battleground States if she can do

play06:38

everything correctly it's going to be

play06:40

close and this feels a lot more like the

play06:41

2012 election in terms of how close the

play06:44

poll makes it actually feel but we will

play06:46

see what the actual result ends up being

play06:47

on Election night because it could feel

play06:49

a lot like 2020 where we're waiting for

play06:51

days for polls to be counted or for

play06:53

votes to be counted or we waiting on

play06:55

absentee ballots or waiting whatever it

play06:56

might be we are in for the long run here

play06:59

in this ction and things might not be

play07:00

immediately clear because of how

play07:02

competitive it is but the good news for

play07:04

KLA Harris is that she is coming into

play07:06

this after this debate using it to her

play07:08

Advantage I mean think about the media

play07:10

narrative and the media coverage so far

play07:12

of Donald Trump since he decided that

play07:13

he's not going to be running uh not

play07:15

rather not going to running not going to

play07:17

be debating any future debates right and

play07:19

so the mainstream media has picked that

play07:20

up the Democrats have started to turn

play07:22

this into a Donald Trump's scared type

play07:23

of moment they're even trying to bait

play07:24

him back into a second debate trying to

play07:27

uh poke and prod at his ego it might not

play07:29

work it might work though we don't

play07:30

really know what's going to happen with

play07:31

that part but Donald Trump probably

play07:33

isn't debating again which is good news

play07:34

for KLA Harris because it means that he

play07:36

has no real opportunity with all eyes on

play07:39

him no re opportunity with you know a

play07:41

focus on his candidacy or any of his

play07:43

ideas or anything that he can say

play07:45

directly to the people because between

play07:46

now and election day it is nearly just

play07:48

all crunch time it's about visiting

play07:50

state to state to state to state to

play07:51

Rally to Rally to Rally to Rally to

play07:53

voter to voter to voter to voter to door

play07:55

to door to door to door to election day

play07:57

and so that's how it's going to be it's

play07:58

going to be as fast-paced as I said it

play08:00

because that's where we are this

play08:02

election is so close to being over that

play08:05

any type of bump in the scale here

play08:07

benefiting KLA Harris is something that

play08:09

will have an impact on this election

play08:11

whether Republicans like it or not and

play08:13

this debate was in fact that and so I

play08:15

think we've seen a lot of the Republican

play08:17

and the mainstream media from the

play08:18

rightwing say that this has had no

play08:20

positive impact for KL Harris that

play08:22

nobody cares about this debate but what

play08:23

we are seeing here in terms of the data

play08:25

is in fact that there is a positive

play08:27

impact now I touched briefly on the

play08:29

betting markets and the money that KLA

play08:31

Harris raised in the aftermath of the

play08:32

debate and I have to say this right we

play08:34

talked about how she raised $47 million

play08:35

earlier on in this video but at the same

play08:37

time we do need to understand that this

play08:39

election has become so exceptionally

play08:41

expensive I mean we saw that Forbes

play08:43

before the 2024 election season got into

play08:45

full gear we saw this last year I

play08:46

covered it in 2023 they were projecting

play08:49

you know billions of dollars being spent

play08:51

across many many election races and

play08:53

typically speaking right both candidates

play08:55

in 2020 combined raised around a billion

play08:57

dollars just off of Grassroots

play08:58

organizing and small dollar donations

play09:00

and so it was at that time that we

play09:02

started to realize that this was at a

play09:03

point of no return the amount of money

play09:04

in politics was in fact going to be the

play09:06

most important and driving factor of the

play09:08

presidential race and for KLA Harris

play09:10

she's winning that battle $47 million

play09:13

after the debate matters right 47

play09:15

million to spend in just seven

play09:16

Battleground States when the Biden swing

play09:18

state strategy from 2020 contained 10 11

play09:21

12 Battleground States the Comm haris

play09:23

campaign is investing in the states that

play09:25

they need to invest in and focusing on

play09:26

the states they need to focus on they

play09:28

aren't using their money to spend in

play09:29

states that don't make sense right

play09:31

Donald Trump announcing just two days

play09:32

ago that he's holding another rally in

play09:34

the state of New York City I sorry in

play09:36

the state of New York specifically in

play09:37

New York City I mean we are at a point

play09:39

where the Trump campaign isn't holding

play09:41

as many rallies as KLA Harris or Tim

play09:42

Walls whereas the Donald Trump campaign

play09:45

sorry where it's the Comm Harris

play09:46

campaign they're doing a significant

play09:47

number of stops but they're also

play09:48

investing in the states right when

play09:49

Donald Trump goes to some of these

play09:51

rallies like he did one in New Jersey

play09:52

and he did another one in Bronx now he's

play09:54

doing another one in New York City these

play09:55

are things that don't help your

play09:56

candidacy right voters in Pennsylvania

play09:58

are not to in to your New York city

play10:00

Rally they're not going to your New York

play10:01

city Rally they're not making it up out

play10:03

of the state it is important to note

play10:05

that it is the most influential thing as

play10:08

to where you spend your money in a

play10:10

presidential Congressional gubernatorial

play10:11

whatever it might be any race in

play10:13

American politics where you spend your

play10:15

money is how you win an election and so

play10:17

for KLA Harris their campaign team seems

play10:19

to be very tapped into the fact that

play10:21

because they have so much money they can

play10:22

really flood the airwaves in these

play10:24

Battleground States they can expand the

play10:26

number of field offices in States like

play10:27

Pennsylvania Michigan Wisconsin Arizona

play10:30

Georgia North Carolina and Nevada the

play10:31

seven states that they are slated

play10:33

starting after Labor Day they have

play10:34

already started to spend over $250

play10:38

million a quarter of a billion dollars

play10:40

in advertisement spending on these

play10:42

Battleground States they are drowning

play10:45

Donald Trump in cash they are drowning

play10:48

Donald Trump's campaign by outspending

play10:50

and outpacing and out organizing and out

play10:52

fundraising they are at a point too

play10:54

where because of all the money they

play10:55

raised up until that Democratic

play10:56

Convention they could easily make it to

play10:59

November without running out of money

play11:01

even by investing in all of the states

play11:02

they need to invest in so KLA Harris not

play11:04

only now is building up where she is for

play11:06

this election but potentially for a

play11:08

future one I don't imagine there will be

play11:10

that much money raised after the 2024

play11:12

election but all I can say is this the

play11:14

money that is being spent now and will

play11:16

continue to be spent is being spent in

play11:18

the states that matter KLA Harris's

play11:20

campaign team knows where to invest and

play11:23

it looks like they're using that seven

play11:24

State strategy to win the election and I

play11:26

genuinely believe it when I mean when I

play11:28

say this that I believe it's going to

play11:29

pay off based on where we are right now

play11:32

based on what we've seen and how the

play11:33

Democratic party has taken this debate

play11:35

and boosted their odds at winning

play11:37

nationally right taking the way that

play11:38

Democrats have taken where they were in

play11:40

some of these swing States and boosted

play11:41

their odds in those and so what I think

play11:43

has been just really really clear over

play11:45

the past 6 months is that the Biden

play11:47

Harris campaign turning into a Harris

play11:49

walls campaign they knew what they were

play11:51

doing they at least knew how to invest

play11:53

their money and they knew how to raise

play11:54

the money was the candidate at the top

play11:55

of the ticket the person that was going

play11:56

to bring them over the Finish Line with

play11:58

Biden Harris chances are no that's why

play12:00

Biden dropped out of the race but KLA

play12:01

Harris very seemingly much can do it and

play12:04

that's why you're starting to see people

play12:05

when they watch her on the debate stage

play12:06

when they watch her interact with former

play12:08

president Trump when they watch her just

play12:10

generally speaking at rallies right on

play12:12

advertisements online they take a liking

play12:15

to her we've seen her favorability

play12:16

rating completely rebound ever since she

play12:18

became the Democratic nominee right just

play12:20

right before uh we saw the swap out

play12:22

right around the time of July 15th we

play12:24

saw that Donald Trump had a higher

play12:25

favorability rating than that of KLA

play12:27

Harris today that is absolutely not the

play12:29

case in fact what we did see right

play12:31

before she became the Democratic nominee

play12:33

for president and was endorsed by Joe

play12:35

Biden when he dropped out of the race

play12:36

was that she hit one of her lowest

play12:38

favorability ratings in the entire

play12:40

history of her vice presidency so three

play12:42

and a half years hitting almost her

play12:44

lowest point right before she became the

play12:46

Democratic nominee and now today she is

play12:48

nearly tied even with her unfavorability

play12:50

rating and favorability rating she was

play12:52

down 15 20 points today she has narrowed

play12:55

that up and that only happens because

play12:57

the candidate at the top of the ticket

play12:59

has a campaign team that knows how to

play13:01

campaign that only happens when the

play13:03

person at the top of the ticket receives

play13:04

the support necessary to get across the

play13:07

finish line or get exceptionally close

play13:09

this election is no longer about the

play13:11

less or two evil situation that it

play13:13

turned into in the Biden versus Trump

play13:15

matchup voters are inspired on the left

play13:18

about kamla Harris in a way that they

play13:19

were not inspired about Hillary Clinton

play13:21

and in many ways even were not inspired

play13:24

about Joe Biden in the 2020 election and

play13:26

when we take a look at the political

play13:27

betting markets who people believe are

play13:29

going to win she actually wasn't doing

play13:32

as well as she is doing today when you

play13:33

take a look back at the history since

play13:35

around the time of the democratic

play13:37

convention around the time of the DNC

play13:38

she started to see a bump but after that

play13:40

it really started to dwindle poly Market

play13:42

started to turn away from K Harris and

play13:44

she ultimately never reached that

play13:45

majority back up until today when we saw

play13:47

her tick back up just actually yesterday

play13:50

in fact so yesterday and today all

play13:51

because of what the presidential debate

play13:54

and when I take a look at the national

play13:55

forecast with States like Georgia on the

play13:57

538 forecast and North Carolina Within

play13:59

Reach Arizona Within Reach it seems to

play14:02

be a very realistic possibility that

play14:04

based on what we're seeing in the data

play14:06

that in this post debate bump should the

play14:08

election be held today Comm Harris could

play14:10

win 319 electoral votes that's a

play14:12

non-insignificant number and that would

play14:14

be a massive victory for vice president

play14:16

Harris I mean that would be rewriting

play14:18

the electoral map from the 2020 election

play14:19

when Democrats have largely been focused

play14:21

on playing defense right when we take a

play14:23

look at those states that Democrats are

play14:24

investing in with commet Harris it very

play14:26

much is not taking anything for granted

play14:28

they're focusing on Wisconsin Michigan

play14:29

and Pennsylvania all states that Biden

play14:31

won they're focusing on Arizona Georgia

play14:33

and Nevada all states that Biden won and

play14:35

the only swing state they're focusing on

play14:37

that they lost in the 2020 election is

play14:39

the state of North Carolina Democrats

play14:40

aren't heavy investing in States like

play14:42

Florida or Texas or Ohio or Iowa and in

play14:45

a perfect world maybe they would be but

play14:47

they are realizing to meet this moment

play14:49

they need to solidify their base in

play14:51

those seven Battleground states that

play14:52

truly will determine the future of this

play14:54

nation states like New Hampshire and

play14:56

Virginia and Minnesota and Colorado and

play14:58

New Mexico States the Democrats you know

play15:00

Republicans rather would love to invest

play15:02

in but aren't investing as much in as in

play15:04

the seven Battleground States because

play15:05

Democrats know they're going to win

play15:06

there and so do Republicans too same

play15:08

thing with Ohio and Iowa and Florida and

play15:10

Texas Democrats would love to invest

play15:12

there but Republicans know they're going

play15:13

to win there so they don't need to spend

play15:15

much money there and Democrats know

play15:16

Republicans are going to win there even

play15:17

in their perfect scenario they would be

play15:19

winning there too and so KLA Harris's

play15:21

debate performance doesn't exactly shake

play15:23

up the race in a way that means all of a

play15:25

sudden she has guaranteed the presidency

play15:27

but what she did on that debate stage

play15:29

was completely halted any conversation

play15:31

around her momentum ending but rather

play15:33

expanded on that momentum that came from

play15:35

the announcement that came from the VP

play15:37

announcement that came from the

play15:38

convention and now is coming from the

play15:40

debate and she's setting herself up to a

play15:42

Pathway to Victory where she's gaining

play15:44

in terms of overall odds her polling

play15:46

numbers are starting to do better and

play15:47

while I do believe in around a month I

play15:49

wouldn't be shocked if we got sets of

play15:51

polls that showed this race just as

play15:53

close as it is today because I don't

play15:55

think we're on track for k Harris to

play15:56

have a blowout election I still believe

play15:58

between now and November not much really

play16:00

is going to change but there is in fact

play16:02

a benefit of being up 60 to 40 instead

play16:04

of 51 to 49 and KLA Harris's campaign

play16:07

and herself will know this very well on

play16:09

Election Day as the results come in as

play16:11

we start to see what happens in these

play16:13

Battleground States as we start to see

play16:15

who's the eventual winner in the

play16:16

presidential election because what we

play16:18

know about our presidential race this

play16:20

time is sure it absolutely is close but

play16:23

when you are moving the needle even

play16:25

slightly it matters when you look at

play16:27

States like Georgia that would just

play16:28

decided by 11,000 votes in the 2020

play16:31

election when you take a look at States

play16:32

like Arizona that were decided by

play16:34

roughly a similar amount of electoral

play16:36

votes when you take a look at States

play16:38

like Pennsylvania that were decided by

play16:40

just under a 100,000 votes in a state

play16:43

with millions of Voters same thing in

play16:45

Wisconsin same thing in Michigan you

play16:48

know that every little moment good or

play16:51

bad matters in a presidential election

play16:53

and Democrats know that all too well and

play16:55

so KL Harris right now expanding her

play16:58

advantage on the National 538 forecast

play17:00

isn't too much of a shock we saw in the

play17:02

immediate aftermath that voters did

play17:04

positively respond to KLA Harris's

play17:06

debate performance but now we have the

play17:08

actual quantifying numbers to prove that

play17:11

the forecast here has improved for KLA

play17:12

Harris and has set her up for a higher

play17:14

chance of Victory than she has ever been

play17:16

in the past two weeks which really goes

play17:18

to show that this debate while seemingly

play17:20

marginal on the grand scheme of things

play17:22

actually does make an impact all in

play17:24

favor of Vice President Harris so thank
