Transcripts
hey folks today is Friday July 12th 2024
as usual my name is Jake Baldo here to
talk about all the video game news that
is going on this week I'm here at home
there's a lot to talk about uh so we
should just Jump Right In First with
this game that has been grabbing
headlines and I've seen it get talked
about a lot online it's this flashy
trailer for this like very graphically
intensive third-person shooter called
what what is it called black
State just the most generic name okay so
yeah while I did immediately forget the
name uh this has been making an
impression on people because it is an
Unreal Engine 5 game uh it is from
motion blur Studios a Turkish game
Studio who they haven't done too much
before this and what they have done is
very different but this took a lot of
people by storm and a lot of people
saying it's a bunch of things like it's
Metal Gear Solid meets portal from what
I see with this it looks to me more like
Metal Gear Solid 5 Phantom Pain more
kind of like open combat scenarios meets
something like black in term of type of
scenarios meets something like fear uh
in terms of like the slow motion effects
and explosions and bodies flying
everywhere seems a little creative with
those abilities now with this game
though I I will say off the bat I have
grown cynical of these Unreal Engine
Tech demo looking style games where you
can look very closely and see that
there's not a lot of substance there
other than what is immediately shown on
screen I know a lot of people have been
talking about like the fact that it's
like a stealth third person action game
but the stealth looks very simple but I
I will say the shooting and and some of
the creativity uh with like the subway
sequence does look pretty cool and uh in
the marketing for this uh officially put
out by Nvidia it says and I quote this
trailer provides an enticing preview of
the photo realistic world and the
real-time door mechanics that promise to
redefine the genre so again my
skepticism is like Nvidia will just put
out stuff like they they'll put get
they'll feature games it doesn't really
matter too much I'm like how far along
is this project really is this more of
just a conceptual thing thing is there
actually substance here other than just
the style we see on screen here I will
say cool enemy types I like that big
enemy guy that shows up at the end that
just has like a raincoat on I don't know
that's cool I will defend one thing with
people saying that this just looks kind
of old school like it like oh it feels
like an early 2000s shooter that's what
I want that's those are the types of
games I love so while I'm still
skeptical of this thing actually ever
becoming a full game I'll certainly root
for it because I just like regular old
single player third person action
adventure games especially that feel a
little old school like this is giving me
almost like binary domain Vibes but
we'll just have to wait and see what the
deal is with this one but we figured
we'd highlight this one front and center
because it was one of the biggest
headlines this week but if you want to
check out the full trailer and
everything else I talk about it'll all
be linked in description down below of
course in other news uh Concord
PlayStation's big hero shooter thing uh
it seems like a lot of the dates have
been moved up so if if you've been
looking to check it out the beta early
access is July 12th now to the 14th and
then the open beta for everybody is July
18th to 21st so you can try it and check
it out for yourself me personally when
this game was announced I felt nothing
nothing at all um I'm just like there's
a lot of these games now at this point
but I think betas and open betas are
important so you can at least try and
judge it for yourself which I am
certainly going to be doing and at least
everything up here seems pretty upfront
and transparent uh preload times PC
system requirements stuff like that all
that is here but in other news something
really cool something I didn't expect a
new planet coaster game yes it's been
years since the original Planet coaster
now so Planet coaster 2 has officially
been announced with water park stuff and
slides now this is significant for some
of you who don't realize because Planet
coaster I think was pretty underrated
and it was kind of like the spiritual
successor to Roller Coaster Tycoon if
we're not getting big crazy new Roller
Coaster Tycoon games this is the next
big thing so just a short sweet little
announcement but we know that it's
coming fall 2024 next up in case you
missed it Xbox game pass is making some
big changes um it's kind of complicated
I will link it in the description down
below like an explainer but essentially
the tiers have kind of changed with a
lot of the Lesser tiers uh essentially
having less value in some ways uh but
ultimately the bigger headline here is
price increases so now Xbox game pass
ultimate which is the main one with all
the features the thing that presumably
has the most users that is going up to
$20 us per month uh you are going to be
able to stack subscriptions and stuff
like that if you get them on sale or you
get a gift card they have stated that
but along with that PC game pass is also
getting a price increase from 10 bucks a
month now up to 12 bucks a month for
users that have like recurring billing
uh apparently the prices are going to
take place uh on September 12th so
buckle up if you are paying for those
subscriptions there's that I think the
bigger news with this is not necessarily
all the little changes and tweaks to the
smaller tiers or anything like that but
the price increase generally indicating
that yes Xbox game pass and paying for
all those games and Microsoft acquiring
all these Studios is expensive I
attribute this almost directly to the
fact that Call of Duty the next Call of
Duty Black Ops 6 is going to be day and
date available on Game Pass so because
now they're not getting everybody going
out and buying the game for $70 or
whatever on Xbox this is the kind of
their way of recouping that somewhat
obviously it's a big bet for Microsoft
to try and get more Game Pass
subscriptions but we're going to have to
wait and see how that goes either way
whether you're a Call of Duty fan or not
if you're a Game Pass user the price is
going up so what do you think I mean
everybody's wallet everybody's economic
situation is different does that jump
hurt you are you finally cancelling are
you jumping on board how do you feel how
did I say that how how do you feel I'm
stumbling over my words so much today
how do you feel let me know hey now
jumping over here real quick to talk
about sh shoes what if there was a shoe
you could throw on anytime any day that
let you go anywhere regardless of the
weather or conditions well that's where
our sponsor of today's video vessie has
you covered we've been recommending them

important thing is that all their

awesome and so powerful rainy day in a

adventure at work you're covered you're
basically Unstoppable and these shoes
keep your feet cool in the summer and
warm in the winter with the summer here
I've been trying to touch grass actually
go outside go by the water go in nature
a little bit and vessie has been keeping
me ready for anything but specifically
with their newer stormburst low top uh
These are nice and comfy easy to slip on
but they have a little bit more of a
grippy soul if you're adventurous and
they're the ones I get the most
compliments on they're a little dirty
right now cuz I use them constantly but
you can blast them with water and rub
them right off again because they're
waterproof most importantly though
they're comfortable so if you want to
experien this summer with complete

head to vessie decom game ranks over
there you get an instant 15% off your
first order upon checkout so once again
that's vessie decom game ranks click it
down there there's a QR code up here but
either way big thanks to vessie for
sponsoring our videos next up in
something cool what is 2K remaking so uh
MP first caught a game developers
LinkedIn profile that stated that
they've worked on a bunch of things
under the 2K Banner be it the mafia
Definitive Edition remake an upcoming
unannounced title of course an upcoming
Bioshock title the heavily rumored new
BioShock game that we've talked about
forever now I'll talk about that more in
a little bit as well as an upcoming
unannounced title that we don't know
what it is but I think I do actually
know what that one is uh it is a sequel
uh to a long running franchise but all
that stuff we've seen that on resumรฉs
before or LinkedIn profiles before but
the bigger thing here is the upcoming
unannounced remake leading to people
going what what else is 2K remaking
under their Banner speculation could be
a bunch of things MP first smartly
caught maybe it's spec Ops the Line
because that had been delisted from
online storefronts recently uh but it
also could be like maybe a remake of the
original Bioshock 2K owns a lot of [ย __ย ]
I I think the interesting thing is how
they approach it if it's a remake like
Mafia Definitive Edition that's awesome
cuz that was a from the groundup Remake
but also with this news just take that
the remakes just keep coming people are
saying the game industry is running out
of ideas I don't agree with that but I
do think they are playing it safe right
now because of economic uncertainty and
apparently how the corporations borrow
money and use money right now things are
kind of locked up tight so you see
companies taking less risks on new IP
and big creative bets and more on the
stuff that they know is going to sell
the safe already proven stuff so that's
probably going to be some sort of remake
of something we've seen before and with
that news uh it is worth pointing out
another headline this week is that that
next Bioshock developer uh that we we
know this studio it's called 2K Cloud
chamber apparently they're still ramping
up they're hiring more people with Euro
gamer highlighting that there are 30
positions now open at the development
studio in Montreal so we've known there
is a Bioshock in the works for many
years now but there's probably still
some work to be done if they're still
Staffing up to this high of a level but
we're just going to have to wait and see
I'm waiting for like the return of
Bioshock at a thing whether it's the
final release of this thing or Ken
LaVine the Bioshock creators next game
Judas you know we need something soon
I'm hungry next up in terms of game
releases this week uh there was the
first ascendant that dropped kind of at
the end of last week but then this week
we got another free-to-play live service
game it's once human so I checked this
out because I thought this looked a
little bit more interesting than the
first descendant I did a before you buy
On It ultimately it is very much a
free-to-play game with all those
elements it's got some cool monster
designs and some cool world design bits
here and there but if you're a gamer
with very Discerning tastes and you're
not into these types of like Mo like
mobile free-to-play feeling things
probably not for you but I figured I'd
talk about it here and Link the video we
made in the description maybe it'll have
long-term potential I've been proven
wrong before I don't know but anyway
also check out the trailer for this game
it's simply called Norse this is like a
narrative turn-based Adventure game set
very strictly and almost like
realistically in an ancient ient Viking
setting and it seems like they're going
for accuracy but also good real proper
storytelling I know this is just a
flashy trailer but it seems like they've
actually got some of the sauce here we
have to see it to believe it of course
you know don't pre-order it or anything
I don't really pre-order anything but
this is interesting and then the
gameplay looks kind of like a balers
Gate 3 turnbas style thing this was
actually announced like two weeks ago we
missed it it flew under our radar it
kind of flew under everybody's radar so
I figured I'd give it a mention here
next up other news some small Star Wars
Outlaws updates uh because it is
releasing in August there are preview
sessions going on right now so in in
another like week or so I believe you're
going to be hearing from some of the big
outlets and content creators their
Impressions on playing some of the game
I have played it behind the scenes
months ago and I actually am cautiously
optimistic I'm very skeptical and and
I've criticized a lot of Ubisoft games
and there's still some weird elements
here but I don't know I I think they
might be on to something at least fairly
decent I think Star Wars games have had
a pretty good run recently but now we
are starting to get a glimpse of how big
Star Wars Outlaws will actually be in
terms of size so we know that there are
five planets and now new reporting from
IGN is that three of the five planets in
the game can be crossed in four or five
minutes while riding a Speeder bike now
some people hear that and think that's
really small I feel like some people
will hear that and think wow that's
really big I lean on the side of that's
pretty big cuz four or five minutes of
just driving it in a game feels like a
while also a speeder is fast I mean if
you know Star Wars you know those things
zip still we'll have to see this is of
course from the creative director Julian
gity he's going to try and say all the
right things including in an interview
reiterating that like four or five
minutes non-stop which doesn't sound
like a lot but once you're committed
it's a fairly large amount and you're
always going to be distracted so we
don't want things to be just big for big
sake we need it to be contained always
fun always proposing different
activities I like hearing that from
Ubisoft game going for actual quality
over quantity but again with all this
we're just going to have to wait and see
when it releases next month we'll do it
before you buy video on it and stuff we
got you covered but in some cool news
the possibility of a Sonic RPG not
something I really had on my bingo card
but holy [ย __ย ] so Sonic Team head takishi
lizuka if I'm pronouncing that correctly
I did an interview with Good Vibes
gaming and he said and I quote
personally I really like role playing
games the RPG game format is a lot of
fun and I've even thought to myself you
know for the past 30 years we haven't
done a Sonic RPG why haven't we done a
Sonic RPG in all this time how have we
gotten to 30 years with no RPGs and he
went on to say that hopefully he would
like to work on a Sonic RPG before he
retires from Team Sonic and Sega and I
would love to see that it just feels
like it makes sense and in terms of like
an actual business move I think it's
kind of proven at this point with the
Resurgence of Super Mario RPG and
presumably the success of stuff like
that smaller scale success but still
something means a Sonic RPG could be a
thing and I think that would be really
cool sorry if I'm getting a little like
nerdy over the prospect of something
like that but I don't know for me that
just it's something different dude
different is always good and and Sonic I
think as a franchise can always use
different and sticking with Japan for a
second uh the the people behind the
yakaza series or the like a dragons
series rgg Studios has teased their next
thing very very small bit of news but
essentially they have confirmed their
next game and they apparent said at this
event and I quote we can't tell you what
kind of game it is but I will tell you
you'll be surprised and this apparently
is directly referring to their next game
which is going to be a like a dragon
game it's not like a new series so
leading to a lot of speculation of
saying like are they changing up the
gameplay mechanics again is another new
character coming by is another old
character returning is it still going to
be an RPG Style game what's the deal
here I will say with infinite wealth
just feeling so different I like that
they are really starting to annually
like really refresh these games in very
smart creative ways so we're just going
to have to wait and see what exactly
that means here but that's it that's the
gaming news this week that we wanted to
highlight for you guys just everything
kind of worth talking about so let us
know in the comments what you think
about everything going on uh whether
it's the Xbox game pass price increases
to that game called I already forgot
what it was called again what is it
called black State black State uh do you
think that's a real game are you
intrigued by something just a regular
old third person shooter but with really
good graphics are you going to jump into
those Concord betas are you jumping into
once human what are you playing this
weekend let us know in our pinned top
comment down there it helps us figure
out what types of videos to make but if
you're looking for me you can always
