Outlines
📦 Unboxing Birkenstock Sandals
The speaker begins by welcoming viewers back and introducing the unboxing of Birkenstock sandals. The sandals were ordered from the official Birkenstock website and arrived in about four days. The speaker mentions that they are a size 12 and finds that Birkenstock sizes match well with Nike or Adidas running shoe sizes. For boots, they suggest sizing down one full size. A foot guide and a sizing chart are included in the packaging, which also features a blue label indicating soft footbeds. The sandals come with matching buckles and faux leather straps, which Birkenstock claims are more durable than real leather. The speaker shares their experience with the faux leather, noting that it has held up well over a few months with only minor wear. They also demonstrate how to measure foot size using the provided guide and suggest ordering a size 45 for a European size 46 foot, which fits them comfortably with about an index finger's space to spare.
👟 Discussing Sandal Fit and Maintenance
In this paragraph, the speaker discusses the fit of the Birkenstock sandals, recommending to strap them tightly for a secure and comfortable fit without the heel lifting. They suggest that if one is typically a size 12 to 12.5, they should stick with that size for Birkenstocks. The speaker then compares different Birkenstock materials, such as nubuck suede, which has a coarse texture but lacks support structure, causing it to collapse. They recommend using a specific kit for maintaining suede shoes, which includes a protector spray, freshener, cleaner, and conditioner, as well as a chalk and brush for removing stains. The speaker emphasizes the importance of using the right products to maintain the quality and appearance of the nubuck material.
👣 Material Comparison and Personal Preference
The speaker compares different Birkenstock materials, including real leather, synthetic leather, and nubuck. They express a preference for darker, more durable materials that can withstand wear and tear better. They note that real and synthetic leathers maintain their shape and are easier to clean compared to nubuck, which is lighter and more prone to attracting dirt and water stains. The speaker ranks their material preferences as burko floor (a type of synthetic), oiled natural leather, and finally nubuck due to its lack of structural support and higher maintenance requirements. They also mention the aesthetic issue with the nubuck's loose grain and the flap that resembles a piece of bacon, which they find unappealing. The speaker concludes by reiterating their personal preference for materials that are heavier and require less maintenance.

welcome back
today we're going to be unboxing some
birkenstocks
these came in
about four days after ordering which is
decently quick ordered directly off of
the birkenstock website
that said let's start with the
this is the shipping box that it is sent
in so
pretty compact almost the size of the
actual
packaging
in birkenstocks i'm a size 12 i noticed
the most accurate size
to match these sandals
or
either your nike running shoes or your
adidas running shoes those are going to
be very similar sizes
for boots i tend to size down one full
size
so again this is a size 12.
here's a foot guide
so we have
the tissue paper that wraps it
and for you german speakers
then there's a sizing chart here on the
bottom
shows you in millimeters euro us
children us ladies u.s men and united
kingdom sizes
you'll know they're soft footbeds
because it's embedded here in this in
the heel but also because the label is
blue
for this particular pair we have the
[Music]
buckles that match the color of the
sandal
let me buckle these up really quick and
then for comparison let me show you my
other birkenstocks they're more of a
brushed metal color
so this is going to be the
faux leather that birkenstock makes
they say this faux leather lasts longer
than the actual leather so i gave it a
try it's holding up pretty well
there's a little bit of wear here
immediately but it hasn't changed since
i've had these a few months already
so they're holding up well
these are also the soft footbed
they have since faded
let's test out the foot size
i'm going to mark our heel on the edge
and i'm almost at the limit here which
is
between
290
and 300
and 300 would put me at
size 46
which is the european size
and in men's that would be a size 13.
so i ordered a size 45
and
i think
for example he's already broken in but
personally i love how these 45s fit i've
worn them a lot already
and all the way towards the edge i'm
gonna have
about one index finger space
here
i think it's perfect if
if you guys order any bigger um again
this is just personal preference for me
but i feel like my foot rests very well
so
if there's any more space i feel like
there's just more space for your foot to
slide but also
i strap these
all the way at the end of the
the holes here so i have it the tightest
you can possibly go and i think this
fits extremely comfortable it's not
choking my foot
feels secure and when i walk
it's not my
my heels not lifting out of the sandals
on a lot of the websites they'll have
them listed 12 to 12 and a half
i would go with
that size i think i i'm hardly ever a
size 13 in anything maybe one pair of
shoes
this new birkenstock
and you'll see there it's a one index
finger
space
and i think they fit incredibly well
[Music]
for some of you looking to get the
nubuck suede upper
you can see that it has more of that
coarse texture which people might enjoy
my issue with this is that it does not
have as much support structure
so it's going to keep collapsing
for reference i have my
burkle floors here
you're gonna see how
stiff they are i mean they're still
very flexible but they're they keep
their shape and so it's very easy to put
on as a slipper those of you that do go
the nubuck route
slash suede
i've been using this kit for a lot of my
suede
shoes
and it doesn't have to be ugg but this
is the one i've had for years
for example this is what it'll have
inside
so i tend to spray this
protector on so it's going to help
create a barrier between debris and dirt
and any grime
so this will be a barrier between the
the nubuck and that grime so i'll spray
that on
the freshener is more for like a shoe or
a moccasin but you can put it on every
so often i don't like to add stuff that
i don't need to
and then
this cleaner and conditioner you'll kind
of rub it on
and you're going to need this
chalk
special brush to remove stains so that's
the thing with suede it's very it's like
kind of delicate as well so you want to
use this chalk and then you rub it out
and that's how you get some some water
stains out on nubuck material but yeah
so there's this kit i'm sure you can
find similar ones available for suede or
new book
again i'm not against these but for my
money i would rather get something
darker
and
either synthetic
or even the real leather because these
are going to take the abuse much better
and you can see
so this is the real leather this is the
synthetic leather and then this is the
nubuck these are going to keep their
shape much better they're thicker
in ranking order i would probably go
with the burko floor
then i would go with the oiled leather
natural and then i'd go with the burko
buck which is this
nubuck the reason why this is my last
option is i mean in this particular case
it's also a lighter color
so this is going to be a magnet for any
dirt debris
even water this could cause some stains
and
with these other two options you can
pretty much wipe it off and it's a very
durable material these are a bit lighter
because it's synthetic versus the
leather they're still i mean they're
still like high quality sandals they're
gonna have that weight to them
but the
nubuck upper option would be my last
option due to the fact that i mean as
you can see here it's already caving in
and it doesn't have that rigid
structural support so these you could
put them on as slippers and this one you
have to fight a bit more
watch people
you can see there it's
it takes a little more effort to like
slide your foot in and you know you
could imagine one day you're trying to
put these on quick you might trip on
them or something
and then my other issue is
this flap it's like a piece of bacon
you know you're walking that thing's
gonna be jiggling and i don't think that
looks high quality i understand that the
nubuck is a more loose grain so it
doesn't have that rigid structure but
yeah these look good on the foot don't
get me mistaken but
i think for the
high maintenance of these sandals
since it's an
a more open fiber
it's going to attract
a lot more debris so
again these aren't
these aren't my first choice they look
good but i would go with the brico floor
than the natural leather since these are
a little heavier
and then this would be my last choice
hope you guys enjoyed take it easy great
day great evening bye
