Q & A
What is the primary goal of the training process described in the video?
-The primary goal is to help players master basic football techniques, make them muscle memory, and increase their speed of play through natural training methods, enabling them to compete in a professional environment.
What is the first step in the training method, according to the video?
-The first step is mastering the basics, which involves acquiring the correct techniques in various aspects of football and reinforcing them until they become automatic or instinctive.
What is meant by 'Progressive Overload' in this training process?
-Progressive Overload refers to starting with basic drills and gradually increasing the difficulty to challenge the player's technique, which helps solidify the techniques into muscle memory.
Why does the speaker emphasize using laces while dribbling?
-Using laces while dribbling is highlighted because it is the right technique to drive into space, and reinforcing this habit through drills ensures players perform the technique correctly and efficiently during games.
How does the speaker suggest players eliminate bad habits?
-The speaker suggests overloading football by constantly challenging techniques and reinforcing the correct ones. This method helps eliminate bad habits while instilling new and better ones.
What is 'unrestricted training,' and why is it important?
-Unrestricted training involves exercises where players don't think and instead rely on their instincts. This method is important because it helps players become instinct-driven, allowing them to react faster in game situations without overthinking.
How does unrestricted dribbling differ from regular dribbling drills?
-Unrestricted dribbling takes place on a full field, allowing players to visualize game scenarios and defenders, letting their instincts take over as they perform various moves without consciously thinking about them.
What is the purpose of the 'unrestricted positional' drill?
-The 'unrestricted positional' drill involves players practicing in their specific game positions (e.g., winger, striker) and visualizing themselves in real game scenarios. The goal is to reinforce instincts in these specific roles and situations.
What does the speaker suggest about incorporating this type of training into a weekly schedule?
-The speaker advises doing these unrestricted drills on days without team training, as they are taxing on both the body and mind. The drills should be used to reprogram a player's instincts.
How does the speaker suggest players transfer these skills into real games?
-The speaker recommends applying these principles in real games by playing small-sided matches and being part of a team. This ensures the work done in training translates directly into game performance.
Outlines
π Mastering Football Techniques
The speaker shares his journey from a beginner to a professional football player, highlighting a two-step process to master football techniques. The first step involves acquiring the right techniques and turning them into muscle memory through a principle called Progressive Overload. This method starts with basic drills and gradually increases in difficulty to challenge and rewire the player's technique. The speaker demonstrates dribbling drills as an example, emphasizing the importance of using the laces to drive the ball into space. The goal is to make the game easier by relying on subconscious technical abilities.
πββοΈ Becoming Instinct-Driven
The second paragraph delves into the concept of becoming instinct-driven on the football field, contrasting it with basic technique training that requires conscious thought. The speaker introduces 'unrestricted training' as a method to rely on natural instincts during play. This includes exercises like unrestricted dribbling, positional play, and shooting, where the player visualizes game scenarios and trusts their instincts without overthinking. The aim is to train the mind to operate on autopilot, similar to professional players like Neymar and Messi, who rely on their instincts rather than conscious thought during gameplay. The speaker suggests incorporating these exercises into a weekly training schedule to enhance performance and prepare for real-game situations.

Transcripts
today you're going to learn how to
master the basics and get yourself to a
level where you can actually compete in
a professional environment it is a
Formula I discovered at the age of 16
which helped me jump three levels in a
single year which eventually got me to a
level where I can compete in a
professional environment how I went from
a complete beginner to playing against
the Canadian national team and being in
a professional club's Youth Academy I'm
going to take you through a two-step
process that ens show you master the
right technique and have it become
messal memory then drastically increase
speed of play through natural training
that'll get you to the professional
level but before I do earlier this year
I made a video that broke down exactly
how I went from being 12 and a refugee
in a brand new country to playing for
one of the most elite clubs in the world
at the age of 18 but more importantly
how I played against Alonso Davies with
the Canadian national team came to train
with us let's go first is mastering the
basics mastering the basics simply means
acquiring the right technique in all
aspects and having you become muscle
memory you don't think you just do and
it just comes naturally to you the best
footballers in the world don't have to
think when they're EX exting a technique
they just do simply based on their
training and their experiences that
they've acquired over the years of
playing the game the right technique is
simply part of their play style this
makes the game a whole lot easier as
your body subconscious knows how to do
what you want with speed and precision
overall it's your technical ability so
let's build that we're going to do this
through a principle called Progressive
overall through difficulty which means
simply starting with the very Basics
then gradually making it harder to
challenge technique so it becomes muscle
memory this is a football overload as we
are rewiring our system to execute
patterns in a specific different way
than what we have been taught before so
we need to overload football to rewire
our system and reprogram it the way we
want it to be with the right technique
and program it into our play style to
make the game easier and more effortless
plus while we're overloading football is
to get rid of bad habits and instill new
ones let's go for this demo we're going
to be targeting one group which is
dribbling and this will be level one of
dribbling very basic fundamental drill
just emphasizing technique so here I
would just dribble with laces which is
the right technique to drive into space
with let me show you just use your laces
I'm going to go with my right foot there
left foot back remember to work on both
feet very important so right foot laces
just dribbling with speed going there
stopping the ball and coming back with
the left foot just like this stopping
the ball and I'm going to repeat this
for however many sets I wish to do now
the next progression in difficulty is
going to be the zigzag drill which again
we're reinforcing the right technique
which is driving to space with laces but
now there's an element of changeing
Direction This is to gradually make the
exercises harder so the right technique
becomes muscle memory so again driving
with laces right technique change
direction again driving laces right
technique change direction same thing
again and again obviously go faster than
I am but this is just an example now the
next progression which I like to call
tier three is going to be the plus Dr
many different changes in Direction and
more element of creativity added into
this one which is gradually more
difficult
than the zigzag drill let me show you so
you go in this order a much more
challenging much more difficult and
different elements added and
Incorporated in it whilst maintaining
the driving into space with laces which
is the right
technique remember the main element of
these drills is to drive the ball with
laces always always reinforcing the
right technique otherwise even though
you're doing the drill you're not really
getting the most out of it finally the
fourth and last last progression for
this demo is going to be this I don't
know what it's called but it's something
I created and there's an element of 1 V
one into this one plus many changes of
Direction so let's get into it so right
here One V one go through
it
back again just going through it as fast
as I
can and when you get to the beginning
it's going to go
around all the way
around
and you repeat going the other way at
the end always working on both feet but
this will be the last progression for
dribbling now I just showed you a
four-step gradual progression for
dribbling you'll do the exact same for
passing receiving One V ones and
shooting this is what a weekly schedule
will look like in the week you have 5
Seconds to
screenshot then every month you go into
the next step I like to break it down to
5 months and if you do it correctly 5
months is enough to build a solid
technical Foundation this alone isn't
going to get you to a level where you
can compete with professionals or kids
who have been in the system simply
because their speed of play is much
faster than yours and it is because of
this these footballers are Instinct
driven meaning they do not think when
they play they just do and after looking
at the study it clearly stated that
instincts work faster way faster than
the thinking State of Mind even prime
Hazard talked about it just watch this
video what you're telling me is what you
do most of the time is instinct in yeah
he's Instinct even Man City Riad
morz um never trained it's just like
since I'm young uh yes like instinct I
know how to control the ball since I'm
young that's why I have the best touch
in the
world there's also a study done on
Neymar by Japanese neurologist that
stated that he's on autopilot meaning
he's Instinct driven even Messi stated
himself I do not think about the player
visualiz anything I do what comes to me
at that moment instincts it has always
been that way so what does that mean for
you first stop the basic cor ju as that
reinforces a thinking State of Mind as
you're are thinking throughout the drill
the opposite of what we want to achieve
let me show you guys how to actually
become Instinct driven I found a
Training Method called unrestricted
training which is gism exercises where
you do not think and you just rely on
your instincts letting your Natural
Instincts flow and learning to trust
your body and mind to trust your
instincts here are three exercises I do
now every time I go out to train let's
go first I'm probably the most helpful
says is unrestricted dribbling which I
like to use the full field because it's
more game realistic as I can visualize
myself in different situations you can
use visualization to your advantage here
visualize Defenders coming at you and
beating them and just let your instincts
flow do not think that is very important
I'm going to visualize the fer right
here beat him with the one step over
another one right here double step over
driving to space
now reverse elastical cut back go for
however long you want but remember this
drill is only as effective as the effort
you put into it don't think just
visualize different scenarios and just
let your Natural Instincts flow very
[Music]
[Music]
important music keeps
[Music]
second is literally the most game
realistic drill I can think of which is
unrestricted positional so you go in the
position that you would find yourself in
a game for me I'm a Winger so right now
I'm on the by line so I'm a Winger I'm
on the by line I visualize myself in a
game literally going through game
realistic scenarios visualizing myself
in these scenarios beating a player
Crossing it searching the ball taking a
shot beating a player and cutting in and
finishing literally whatever comes to
mind you may need a couple balls for
this
but let me just show you guys a little
demo so right now I'm a right winger def
right here I'm going to beat him there's
another def right here cut in take care
of him one V one I'm approaching I'm
approaching beat him and then finish
wo have fun with it that's the whole
point of this but learn to trust your
instincts and just let your instincts
flow don't think that is not what we
want like I said with the basics
training you have to incorporate the
right technique but for this the right
technique would be just letting your
instincts flow that's how you make the
most out of these
[Music]
sessions now into the third drill let's
go third is unrestricted shooting
whichever position you're in you have to
be able to score and not just score open
Nets but be able to create your own shot
and score and finish pretend as the
defender right in front of you visualize
him coming in and you're GNA beat him
based on that visualization so pretend
the defender right here he's forcing me
out wide I'm just going to cut in and
finish it I'm going to do the same thing
on the left and right side to work on
different aspects of my game get many
balls and do this a lot because this is
what's helped me get to that next level
especially when I was 18 years
[Music]
old
[Music]
when trained this way you only want to
do this on days you don't have team
training because this is very taxing on
the body and psychologically as well as
we are reprogramming our mind to rely on
instincts remember what I said in Basics
training football overload now we're
emphasizing on performance this is my my
weekly schedule now you have 5 Seconds
to
screenshot anyways this type of training
Al L will not get you to a level where
you can compete at a pro environment you
need to be applying these principles
against real people so play small side
games and be on a team so this work
transfers directly to the real game I
hope you guys enjoyed the video and
