Outlines
🎨 Evolution of the Artist's Role
The first paragraph discusses the evolution of the artist's role from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. Initially, artists were viewed as craftsmen with little recognition for their creative input. However, during the Renaissance, there was a significant shift, with artists gaining more recognition and independence. The transformation included the emergence of artists from craftsmen to independent creatives, a shift in focus from solely religious to secular art, and the development of artists' individuality and self-expression. The Renaissance period marked a time when artists began to sign their work, asserting their identity and contribution to society.
🖌️ The Artist's Studio: A Creative Haven
Paragraph two delves into the significance of the artist's studio as a space for creation and experimentation. Historically, the studio served as a personal space for artists to negotiate with patrons and develop their work. Over time, studios have become more public, with people showing interest in the environment where art is created. The studio is considered an extension of the artist, reflecting their inner world and creativity. The paragraph also contrasts the traditional division of the studio into a contemplative 'studiolo' and a practical 'bottega', with the latter being the workshop for creating art. The modern trend sees a merging of these spaces into a singular studio.
⚙️ The Industrial Revolution's Impact on Art
The third paragraph explores how the Industrial Revolution influenced the art world by making materials more accessible and portable. This shift reduced artists' dependence on wealthy patrons, allowing them to create art based on their own desires rather than solely on commission. The newfound freedom led to the emergence of various art styles and a more liberated approach to art creation. The paragraph also touches on the questioning of traditional artistic training and the rise of academies and art salons in France, which supported both the creation and discourse around art, influencing the standards and development of art.
🌐 The Art World as a Complex Network
Paragraph four introduces the concept of the 'art world' as a complex network of interconnected individuals and institutions that contribute to the creation, distribution, and appreciation of art. Howard Becker's sociological perspective is highlighted, emphasizing that art is a collaborative effort involving numerous people, each playing a role in the art's existence and experience. The paragraph outlines key points such as the involvement of multiple actors, the continuous evolution of art, the importance of both aesthetic ideas and professional skills, and the global network of institutions that support the art world.
🏛️ The Roles Within the Art World Ecosystem
The fifth paragraph focuses on the diverse roles within the art world, including artists, curators, buyers, collectors, art dealers, gallery owners, and museum curators. It discusses the importance of each role in nurturing artists, promoting their work, and making art accessible to the public. The paragraph also provides examples, such as the renowned curator Dr. Patrick Flores and the art collector Jaime Ponce de Leon, to illustrate the impact of these roles on the art world. The functions of galleries and museums are also explained, with galleries serving as places for art exposure and sales, and museums as educational and cultural preservation institutions.
🌟 The Dynamic Interplay of Art World Participants
The final paragraph summarizes the dynamic interplay between various participants in the art world, each contributing to the ecosystem in unique ways. It reiterates the importance of the collective effort in defining, maintaining, and evolving art. The paragraph also touches on the educational aspect of art, suggesting that the art world serves as a form of education for those involved, from the artists to the collectors and the public. The report concludes by acknowledging the complex and interconnected nature of the art world, where each participant plays a crucial role in shaping the artistic landscape.

assalamu Alaikum warahmatullahi wakat
and good day everyone I am City hawa a
abas your third reporter for the lesson
5 and we are going to tackle the artist
and his studio moving back to Europe the
change or the advancement or yung naiba
yung role ng artist mas naimprove ba
yung role n artist in the society and
specifically in art was dated back
during the middle age up to the
Renaissance period so we have here
evolution of the artist role in the arts
from the middle ages to the Renaissance
period so first the transformation of
the craftsman into an artist or an
independent artist so back then sa
prehistoric period and Classical Period
kilala ang mga artist as a um they are
primarily known as craftman that are
executing specific task only and they
are not seen as an individual or
creative individual with unique voices
meaning na underestimate masyado yung
mga artist back then kilala lang sila sa
pagiging craftman nila not as an
individual that has creative mind and
creative ability ganon so nung middle
age and renaissance mas nabigyang
emphasis pa yung role nila sa
society So next is the widespread
patronage of secular art alongside the
continued production of works with
religious
subjects ngayon dati kumbaga Focus and
centered yung mga artworks nung mga
artist sa religious matters specifically
Christianity yyung mga church nila ganon
yyung mga design sa church gumagawa is
mga artist ngayon mas nag-bow din and
artwork nung mga artist nung middle age
and the renaissance nagkaroon na ng oil
painting ng mga portrait ng ibang mga
tao hindi lang siya centered sa
religion lastly the assertion of
cognition the will and
individuality so back then artists are
often seen simply following an
established skills and techniques
leaving them with little room for
personal interpretation or innovation
that is why the renaissance emphasizes
the artist intellectual capacity to use
their mind to create and make their own
artwork and also Dati rin ang may say sa
Artwork or such as yyung Styles the
subject matter and the execution of the
pieces of the artworks ay yyung customer
or the patron sila yung nagdi-date kung
ano yung gagawin at kung ano yung
kalalabasan nung piece of art ngayon
wala masyadong will and say ung artist
kasi nga binabayaran sila nng Patron or
the customer and ito namang isa itong
individuality matatalakay natin yan siya
sa next slide before and during
Renaissance before renaissance artworks
were left unsigned during Renaissance
artists were able to affix their Mark
onto the surface of their paintings
considering it as a big milestone to the
history of the artist ngayon ' ba
napag-usapan natin kanina na yung artist
is um wala masyadong say sa Artwork niya
solly lahat ng um may lalagay niya doon
is um dependent sa kung ano yung gusto
nung customer niya so even signature or
Mark na nagpapatunay na gawa niya yun is
bawal niyang ilagay but that is before
renaissance And during the renaissance
nagkaroon na ng empowerment of artist
There's no um ano anonymous artist um
status na nagkaroon na ng empowerment
and They were able to affix their Mark
or sign signature in the surface or onto
the surface of their painting It is a
big milestone kasi malaking um
improvement or Achievement na Iyun kasi
it is like they have been given the self
identity nagkaroon na sila ng
self-identity within the society that
they are the artist that are making an
exceptional and a beautiful piece of art
and kung mapapansin natin yung sa taas
ng during the renaissance merong mga
signature diyan or mga sulat that is the
example of the signature na makikita
natin sa mga paintings nandiyan yyung
signature ni picasso nandiyan yyung
signature ni gustav clim and many other
painters so iun yung mga example nung
mga um signature nung mga painters na
nilalagay nila sa mga painting nila nila
mostly sa baba ng painting so with all
this Evolution the um change of the
artist role in the society the artist
empowerment were All witnessed by
specific site namely the studio studio
is a space used to produce paintings
drawings paty sculpture ceramics you
name it any artwork or in simple term
yung studio yung workroom nung um artist
doon niya ginagawa yung mga artwork niya
studio is a place where artist could
experiment and express themselves freely
back then artist studio is the artist
personal space their comfort zone and
their um space for negotiation for
within the customer But today artist
studio are being placed as the center of
interest and amusement within the public
it is also said here that artist studio
is the Extension of the artist himself
so Extension Reflection you name it so
because the artist studio reflects the
artist inner World The
organization The Chaos the specific
arrangement within the um the studio
reflects the artist inner self and also
excited yung mga tao na mabisita kung
saan ba yung Sanctuary of creativity
yung studio mismo kung saan ba
pinanganak yung mga masterpiece nung
artist excited silang makita yyung
environment na nakapaligid sa artist so
specifically yung studio mismo kung saan
niya ginu-good yung buhay niya para
gawin yung amazing Piece na
ginagawa Moving On artist workstation so
dati ang studio is naka-close into two
yung workstation ng artist first is the
studio law a room for contemplation so
studio law or the study room it is where
the um artist contemplate nagiisip
nagmumuni-muni nagre-relax at nag-iisip
ng um ibang idea sa next na gagawin
niyang artwork and next is the botega it
is the workshop where the artwork was
created or the workroom so Ito naman
yung workroom kung saan ginagawa na yung
mga artwork dito na ginagawa nung artist
yung mga paintings niya yung mga
sculpture niya and such So um yun yung
pagkakaiba nung studio law and botega
studio law kung saan nag-study
nagco-contribute the person assisting
their masters with minal task or the
preparation of the painting
surfaces ngayon yyung mga apprentice is
in simple term the assistant of the
artist or what they call here The
Masters so ang ginagawa lang nila is
nag-a-assist lang sila sa maliliit na
bagay like yung pag-prepare nung mga
paint brush nung gagamitin sa pagpipinta
or anything na gagamitin n Master sa
paggawa ng artwork niya So by that
natututo sila doon mismo sa skilled
Master so sila rin mismo yung mga
apprentice mismo is di kalaunan nagiging
magaling din silang mga artist so let us
say for example si Leonardo da Vinci
kung napapansin niyo yang um rebulto
that is Leonardo da Vinci the painter of
the famous painting Mona Lisa so
Leonardo da Vinci himself was once an
apprentice so His Father enjoying his
High reputation in Florence community
decided to send his son Leonardo which
is at that time 15 years old pa lang si
Leonardo to Andrea del vero Andrea del
vero is a famous um artist na magaling
sa painting and sculpture so sa kanya
natuto magpinta si Leonardo da Vinci and
di kalaunan naging sikat na ngayon si
Leonardo
going back sa usaping studio so in 17th
century wala ng studio law and botega
pinag na lang sila at ang meron na
lamang ay ang studio or artist studio so
one of the reason is the development of
the oil painting ang oil painting
kailangan niya ng mahabang proseso and
matagal ma dry yung oil painting ngayon
need siya palaging i-check n painter so
hassle masyado na pupunta siya sa ah
Pupunta siya sa studio law para
magmuni-muni mag-relax or mag-isip then
mamaya-maya pupunta na naman siya sa
botega para i-check yung painting niya
So napaka hassle sa part nung artist
kaya pinagsama na lang kaya meron na
lamang ay ang studio so moving forward
the beginnings of Industrial Revolution
industrial revolution affected arts by
making arts materials more read
available and portable and this fre
artist from dependence on wealthy
patrons Who authen dictated the
materials and Styles that were used more
painters enjoyed painting on their own
behalf creating works they wanted to
create now sa industrial revolution
diyan Diyan na yyung emergence of
steamed engine yung mga um um factories
unting nadi-discover na yyung technology
nade-develop na yyung technology now mas
naging portable and readily available na
yung mga art materials just for example
the foldable eel ung eel ung ah
pinaglalagyan nung blank slate kapag
nagpa-panic ng mga artist so mas
na-freeze sila nagkaroon sila ng freedom
in a way na hindi na sila masyadong
umaasa sa customer na magdikta kung ano
ba yung gagamitin nilang
materials sa pagpipinta so since na
Nawala na ung limitations Hindi na
masyadong nalim Han yung um ang king
galing nung mga painters mas nag-enjoy
na sila sa passion nila doun na rin
nabuo yung iba't iba or doon na rin
pinanganak yung iba't ibang style ng
paggawa ng artwork or painting such as
yung um symbolism and the um other style
of
painting during the latter part of 18th
century the artist Began to question the
traditional artistic training and
education so par nag Nagsasawa na sila
sa traditional way ng pag-aral ng art
and yung mga training and ah Paano
matutunan ang iba't ibang bagay
patungkol sa art so Not until nung 19th
century na na nagkaroon na talaga ng
liberation or Liberated
art so moving on in France academies and
art salons became popular as they did
not only support the production of art
but also discourse around them
so in France yung mga art academies and
art salons is naging popular na So
academies alam naman natin yung
tinatawag na academies so dito tayo sa
art salons yung nasa picture yan yung
example nung art salon kung saan um
nilalagay sa dingding dinidikit sa
dingding
that will be a um medium Para makahanap
siya ng customer kasi mga pupunta doon
maaari merong mga potential customer
doon and also um the analysis and
criticism is an integral part of art
engagement that is why the academies and
art salons are continually building the
standards of Uh the art nowadays so sa
art salon kasi may pumupuntang mga art
critics and which is nagbibigay sila ng
sarili niang opinyon and judgment sa mga
paintings wherein painters is ma-improve
pa nila yung painting nila based sa
judgment nung mga art
critics so moving forward we are now
going to tackle The Other players in the
world of art kung dati pag sinabing art
is ang meron lang artist the apprentice
and the customer ngayon there is what we
call world of art na kung saan
mapapansin nyo naman sa picture is para
silang spider web connected sa isa't isa
at marami masyadong tao nandun yung
artist nandun yung um critic creator
gallery assistant art handler each one
is connected to one another and lahat
sila
is nabuo because of art and their goal
is para mas ah mabuhay pa and mas
mag-improve mapalago pa ung art
so Later on um We are going to discuss
some of that personality But not all of
them yung iba
kasi understandable naman yung mga
storage manager yung gallery assistant
but yung i pag-uusapan natin mamaya is
yung mga very important person in the
world of art na kung wala sila hindi
gagalaw or magiging passive yung world
of
art in how sers art 1982 he asserted
that all artistic work like all human
activity involves the joint activity of
a number often a large number of people
Through Their cooperation the artwork we
eventually see or hear comes to be and
continues to be the work always shows
sign of that cooperation the forms of
cooperation may be emeral but often
become more or less routine producing
patterns of collective activity we can
call an art world the existence of art
Worlds as well as the way their
existence affects both the production
and consumption of artworks suggest a
sociological approach to the arts it is
not an approach that produces aesthetic
judgements Although that is a task m
sociologist of art have said for
themselves so ang ibig sabihin ni Becker
dito Sabi nga ni all artworks like all
human activity requires or it
involves collaboration of many people
Hindi kaya ng isa lang and this
cooperation is What brings the artwork
into existence and it allows it to be
experienced by
others and sinabi niya rin dito or
napag-usapan niya rin dito sa passage
niya yung tungkol sa art Worlds which is
the social Networks and institutions
that surround and support the art
creation so we have here four key points
that is extracted from the book so first
is multiple actors numerous people
contribute to defining and maintaining
art through their actions and
interactions whether agreeing or
disagreeing with current definitions So
um marami ang nag-in within the art
world hindi lang si artist marami so
their interaction their actions are what
define and maintain the art so since
Marami sila they have diverse
personality and intellect so minsan
nag-aagree sila sa isang bagay and
minsan hindi naman but then they have
one goal which is to let the art be
known to the world so they are
continuously defining and maintaining
art so next is continuous Evolution the
concept of art is constantly being
redefined challenged and negotiated by
various players in the art world so Sabi
ko nga kanina because art world is
composed of various people many people
diverse personality they are the one
accountable of redefining the Art And
making a continuous evolution of art So
kung mapapansin natin ' ba dati from
cave car
Nandito na tayo sa digital world kung
saan Um yung makikita natin sa mga art
salons and mga museums is hindi lang
basta mga painting meron ng mga pictures
mga um at iba't iba pang u ng art so ang
art is patuloy na nag-evolve that is
because of the people within the art
world sila yung gumagalaw um gumagawa ng
mga art
exhibits gagawa ng art Uh um artwork
auctions para um patuloy yung flow nung
art sa mundo so Third is Bean esthetics
so sa art world hindi lang artist ang
kailangan hindi lang yung
Uh idea artistic ideas and sentiments
nung artist hindi lang um creative ideas
nung artist but also professional skills
nung ibang tao Like for example the um
buyer the collector the creator The
Gallery Director the manager so hindi
yan sila lahat is artist but then they
have professional skill to um do certain
tasks that is needed in art auctions in
art
exhibit so next is global network so
schools museums galleries and other
institutions form a global
infrastructure for distributing and
legitimizing art So yung mga places
Marami na ngayong mga places kung saan
showcase yung art or yung Artwork sa
like for an instance yung nasa picture
yung art basel in Hong Kong
2015 that is an art ex basel or exhibit
in Hong Kong kung saan um
sho-shoot of Medium na nagiging dahilan
para makilala pa masyado and mapalaki pa
masyado yung pangalan ng art or mapalaki
pa masyado yung reputation nung art the
art world involves people a managing and
operating institutions like museums and
galleries these rol such as board
members directors and creators are not
restricted to those with formal art
Education artists who choose not to work
with galleries table artist often seek
artist Manager to handle their careers
and promotion within the art world so
Sabi nga kanina art world is composed of
um different people so hindi lang siya
restricted only to those people that had
a formal art education or artist or
anything such as ung directors Director
has the skill to direct and the curators
maybe hindi siya nagkaroon ng formal art
Education but then nag-research siya nag
kumbaga nahiligan lang niya yung art
tapos nag-research siya ng patungkol sa
art and such hanggang sa naging
profession hanggang sa ah naging mas
maalam na siya sa art kaya siya naging
curator mostly ah art artist lalo na
yung mga renowned artist na nagbebenta
ng mga artworks nila is meron silang mga
manager So yun nga yung sinasabi ko
Hindi necessarily na magkaroon ng formal
art Education yung taong um
mag-participate sa art world kundi mga
manager mismo yung pinag-aaralan nila
but then they are not artist Magaling
sila in terms of managing So yun nga
some artists are um kumukuha sila ng
manager and some are not so yung manager
is para sa mga para i-handle yung career
nung mga artist and yung mga promotion
within the art world so moving forward
Dito naman tayo sa curator so Isa siya
sa UM tao within the art world so
creator from the Latin word cura meaning
to take care they plan an organized art
exhibitions at museums galleries and
other institutions so kumbaga sila yyung
mga organizer nagpa-planong um exhibit
mga art exhibit within the Museum
galleries and other institutions sila
yung nag ah Nag kung Saan ilalagay yung
specific art na artwork na ito kung Saan
ilalagay yung artwork ni Leonardo da
Vinci kung anong artwork ang magiging
highlight ng exhibit ngayon so sila
yyung mga curator ang bahala doon there
are Institutional curator and
independent or freelance curator so
yyung Institutional curators Iyung fix
na kung saan sila nagtatrabaho sa
specific gallery or institution kumbaga
doon lang sila nagtatrabaho kung mga
professional na sila doon yung mga
freelance naman or independent yung pa-
rocket rocket yung ah ah iung gawain
nila so wala silang fixed hindi sila
nagtatrabaho in a fixed institution or
gallery so nagkakaroon lang sila ng
trabaho kapag mayong nagha-hire sa
kanila some of the roles expected of
curators are the ability to research and
write as an arbiter of design and layout
and designing for the display and
hanging of materials for exhibition So
yun na nga yung sabi ko sila Iyung
nagde-decide kung saan ilalagay Iyung
certain artworks and such so expected na
magaling sila meron silang ability ng
pag-research and write so pagre-research
in terms of art
also they know how to layout and alam
nila kumbaga maganda rin yung pag-design
nila So yung nasa picture that is one of
the famous creator in the Philippines Si
Dr Patrick Flores one of the Philippines
foremost art creators and cultural
scholars best known for his incisive
work on Southeast Asian art he sits as
the curator of the up Vargas Museum and
the national art gallery of Singapore so
yan yung isa sa Filipino well known
Filipino creators in the Philip
so we have here the buyers and
collectors first is the collectors
formly ascribed as Patron key player in
making or breaking an artist career or
shaping a course of a museum's
collection so yyung collector sila yung
nag-college
ng isang artist kasi sila ung mga
collectors sila ung customers nung
artwork and the buyers Sila naman yung
naghahanap nung mga painting or na mga
artworks na gusto nung collectors sila
yyung um pumupunta sa Market at
naghahanap nung pumunta sa market or sa
galleries at naghahanap nung gusto nung
collector and the reason for collecting
artworks first is appreciation and
enjoyment of art they appreciate and
they enjoy art
yun yung dahilan kung bakit sila nag-ol
co-college
So kung mapapansin niyo sa lik sa
picture yung lalaki yung nasa likod nung
lalaki is painting siya ni Juan Luna na
ang ang pangalan is o jimene o hene So
um yang lalaking yan is a known art
collector and auer si Jaime Ponce de
Leon so yyung painting na iyan is binili
niya sa Europe family matagal na yung
nawawalang painting ni Juan Luna at
nahanap niya sa isang auction dati doon
sa Europe so binili niya and iniuwi niya
sa Pilipinas and it is also being
displayed in his gallery known as Leon
gallery So um Philippine based auction
um auction house yan siya dito sa
Pilipinas and yun naging form of
Education na yyung um pagbili niya and
next is preserving a Legacy so kagaya
nung pagbili niya nung pagc niya nung
painting ni Juan Luna So um na-preserve
niya yung Legacy ni Juan Luna na Um yung
history ng Pilipinas is napreserve niya
and lastly communicating their taste or
lifestyle so understandable naman siya
So next is art
dealers moving forward to art dealers
are those who distributes and circulates
artwork through various channels such as
direct sales galleries and auction
houses they are expected to have
knowledge and expertise in various areas
such as art form Styles markets and
relationships with other players in the
art world so art dealers sila yyung um
upper hand sila yung nakikipag-negotiate
pagdating sa mga art sila yyung
nagigiging middleman between the artist
or the painting and to the buyer So um
art dealers are expected to have
knowledge enough knowledge and expertise
pagdating sa art Dapat alam nila and of
course alam nila kung Iyung certain art
bch Just Like for example Monalisa is
original ba siya or hindi kasi they are
the one accountable to that kasi sila
ung art dealer sila ung nagbebenta nng
mga
art and ung makikita natin na sa picture
is isa siyang um famous art dealer si
Larry gagos yan
so so next is gallery um the primary
purpose of an art gallery is to nurture
visual artists promote their work and
expose them to the public collectors
media and cultural institutions So um
nakikita nung sa baba y dalawang yan yan
ung example nung gallery so ang Main
Purpose ng gallery other than for
amusement is para ma-expose yung mga um
paintings sa mga possible um customers
collectors and the media kumbaga for
Business purposes so dito nagpupunta
yung mga art collectors yung mga buyers
naghahanap sila ng mga paintings na
gusto nila and possible na bilhin nila
dito sa art gallery na' And next is the
Museum Museum displays artworks for the
education of the public and it is the
place for entertainment So kung ang
gallery is para place of amusement and
kung saan bumibili rin iyung mga
collectors sa Museum naman is
um kung saan dinidisplay yung mga
artworks na hindi binebenta but it is
only there for Education purposes or
preserving the um culture or um history
and Heritage Just Like for example yang
nasa taas
yung picture ng national Philippine
Museum this an my report for today Thank
you for watching and I hope you learn
something
