not too long ago I came home from school
with this long list of Works to do I had
to do homework I had to study for a test
I had to edit a video for my personal
brand I even had to work on a program
for my business so you know I came home
did the normal thing threw my backpack
by the couch came to my room to actually
work and I decided that it was the smart
thing to do work right after school like
no nothing in between school and work
because it'll prevent procrastination of
course but the problem was that 30
minutes into editing a video my head
hits my desk that's right I I fell
asleep at my desk while doing work at
like 4:00 in the afternoon this was
common at the time this would happen a
lot I fallen asleep on the floor I've
fallen asleep on my desk I fallen asleep
on the couch while eating a meal like I
was on a horrible sleep schedule and I
just wasn't feeling good so how do I do
this how do I manage the gym my coaching
business and my personal brand and how
do I overcome that massive lack of
energy from a long day at school if you
don't already know me I'm Trey a
16-year-old entrepreneur running a
remote creative company in La where we
help business owners grow their presence
on social media and most days I work
from the time I wake up to the time I go
to bed with school being in there as a
big roadblock and not having any time to
do anything else so the first thing I
did was become very intentional with
what I consume and consumption isn't
just food water like things you put into
your body but also like music videos you
watch all those things across the board
that you actually intake which affect
your outputs so first thing is just eat
Natural Foods right avoid the processed
foods at least so anything with more
than one two three ingredients is
probably horrible for you let's be
honest you know I eat ribey steaks eggs
fruit and then whatever my mom makes me
for dinner but you get the deal it's all
pretty simple foods like it's
straightforward I'm not eating gummy
snacks and bars and whatever else people
eat I don't even know what people eat
anymore it's like all 20 ingredients all
of them are chemicals they're all
horrible for you they're not helping you
with your work you know if you're trying
to manage school and a business or
school and a sport or something and
you're not consuming good foods that are
going to help you do those things and
that in fact they're taking away from
your performance then you're just
harming yourself like I can't imagine
being in that position where you're
trying to manage all these things and
you're already struggling and then you
don't take advantage of what you consume
and the consumption of your foods are
just completely destroying your
performance so that's the first thing I
cleaned up it was just what I ate I also
took it very specific like no carbs
before work so throughout the majority
of my day I'm not eating carbs and then
at the end of my day I just eat a bunch
of carbs just because there's no more
work to do I don't know the scientific
reasoning behind it but whenever you
consume a lot of it you start to lose
energy if you eat it right before work
your work's going to be completely
destroyed because you just ate carbs so
your focus is going to be thrown off
however that works I can't really
explain it so but I know that's a proven
fact because I've tested it and that's
exactly how it works and then also water
consumption is very important so
whenever I'm at school I drink about
half a gallon of water I come home drink
another half gallon probably more so I'm
ending up drinking over a gallon of
water every single day but during school
I'm making sure I'm getting my water in
and I'm bringing my own water because
you know water fountains aren't the
cleanest water I don't know if you've
seen But if you fill up your water
bottle with the water fountains at your
school for long enough the inside of
your water bottle is going to turn like
dirty and black like it's going to get
all nasty so I started bringing my own
water which is filtered and that just
allows me to get the cleanest water in
as possible then lastly do not do not do
not eat the school lunches unless your
school is some super healthy school who
serves one ingredient natural lunches
which is going to cost them a l lot of
money because that stuff's expensive
then you probably shouldn't even touch
it because that's going to severely
impact your health and your focus and
your energy which after school is going
to come into effect and that's just
going to ruin your whole day after
school and probably during school like
you're not going to be able to focus at
all throughout the rest of the day so
not worth it at all avoid that and then
with consumption like I said it also
includes what you consume in terms of
videos and music so do not have that
like high stimulating break after school
I know a lot of people they they come
home they get on Tik Tok they come home
they start trolling on Instagram they
start snapping their friends they start
texting everyone like don't even come
home and throw on rap music or anything
you want to come home and be in a very
focused state where all you care about
is the one task you're going to do for
the rest of the day like the next task
you're going to do that should be the
only thing on your mind it should be how
can I get myself in the best position to
perform in the next task that I'm going
to do for me that's just eating a simple
meal of like eggs or ground beef which
will ensure that I'm not getting a lot
of carbs in at all I'm in a very focused
state so whenever it's time to work I
can sit down I can focus you know I'm
drinking a lot of water before I work
also and then I'm getting to work as
soon as I can but I'm getting food in
still so I can actually survive the rest
of the day all right so that fixed a lot
of problems right what you consume is
going to fix a lot of your problems but
the next three things are what changed
it all for me and the second tip is to
prioritize your sleep and this one's
pretty obvious of course you should
prioritize your sleep to get more energy
and everything but what people don't
understand is how important it is you
know if you get bad sleep one night the
next day is completely ruined and you
have to really OV exaggerate that so the
way I think about it is if I have work
to do and let's say it's 10:00 and I
wanted to go to bed at 9:00 but I still
have like an hour of work to do I'm just
going to stop the work push it to the
next day and go to bed that would still
be like 7 hours of sleep I'm still
losing sleep but at least I'm not
staying like way way overtime and then
completely ruining my next day like I
can survive off of 7 hours of sleep with
pretty good focus and energy but if I
were to do 6 hours of sleep the whole
day would be gone so it's smarter to
just push that one hour to the next day
losing the completion of that task in
the first day but the task is going to
get completed anyways because you know
you're pushing it to the next day and
you're going to have enough energy to do
that task plus more things the next day
versus if you were to do it the first
day the whole next day is ruined
hopefully that makes sense that was kind
of a confusing explanation but hopefully
you get that so a big tip for you would
just be to set rules of your sleep like
what time you going to go to bed what
time you going to wake up and be really
strict on that so you don't ruin your
next day and set rules as well like if
you have work to do and it hits a
certain time you stop that work as long
as it doesn't need to get done that
night and you'll be able to push it to
the next day saving yourself a lot of
wasted time and energy so the third
thing I did was prioritize Focus over
hours rather than making time I used my
time more intentionally so this is just
like creating strict routines so you
know exactly what tasks you're going to
do at certain times creating a schedule
plan out your whole day I plan out every
30 minutes of my day so I'm able to
visualize the day also focus on one task
at a time so no rap music nothing going
on no phone next to you at your desk
while you're working get into Flow State
like I talk about a lot just focus on
the one task and then ensure that you
have no tabs open on your computer
besides the tab you're working on make
it as easy as possible ble to do one
thing and not have to worry or think
about anything else if something pops up
in your mind like oh I have to do my
laundry later today don't even write
that down cuz if it's important enough
you're just going to remember to do it
later it's going to pop up in your mind
and you just have to think I don't care
I'll figure that out later and stick
with your work so if you want to improve
that skill of losing focus and coming
back to it then meditate more but big
tip there is to just focus on one task
focus on one assignment of work and
every time something pops up in your
head every time something distracts you
go back to the work like don't don't
even worry about it so lock your doors
put your phone in the different room
only have one tab open and focus on the
work itself you can also set a timer so
I have this like kitchen timer here and
if you like wind it up let's say I was
working for yeah s 18 minutes right you
hit that hit start and there we go 18
minutes on the clock it helps you stay
on track so if you plan out your day and
you're like I'm going to script videos
for an hour you said an hour timer on
here hit go and you don't have to worry
about missing the time or anything cuz
this does it all itself so that's one
less thing to think about and you can
put that energy into the work itself so
I live with my family so of course
there's stuff going on outside of my
room so I just put my headphones on
blast Brown noise or I use a website
called brain.fm I'm not sponsored by
them or anything it's just a it's a
really good website if you want to check
it out it plays like focus music so it's
going to help you to focus and it's
going to tune out everything outside of
the headphones so also like noise
cancelling headphones will help a lot
whatever you can do to just only focus
on the task itself self which is the
work and the fourth thing that I did was
take advantage of the weekends you know
a lot of people spend their weekends
hanging out with friends doing fun
things and I'm not against that right
like that's that's fine you're taking
advantage of your childhood you're
having fun you're enjoying it while it
lasts but for what I'm doing I can't do
that with the business I'm running I
have to put a lot of time into it and
whenever I have time I ideally put that
time into the business if that makes
sense so not against having fun I'm not
against doing those things I think it's
totally fine but for what I'm doing it's
just not possible for me to manage both
at once or at least at the rate that
most people do it at you know I can do
it here and there but not constantly so
the weekends I take advantage of I wake
up get to work right away the weekends
is when I do sales calls I have meetings
with people I work with I film stuff I
plan stuff I do all the backend work and
then I prepare for the next week as well
so I'm planning videos out I'm getting
ready to just get into the week of
school when I have less time so use the
weekends to catch up on work from the
week and plan for the next upcoming week
so it's just going to help you get ahead
of everyone else so yeah the weekend is
really where I tap into my new company
which is helping business owners grow
