Transcripts
hi there Selena Woodward here again your friendly education nerd to talk more about
chat GPT reflective practice and of course those Teaching Standards in this one we're going to
focus on standard five and assessment I'm going to share with you how you can teach chat GPT success
criteria give it a passage of text and ask it to assess it against those criteria now this is a
great way to explore another formal informal formative summative assessment practice how
watch and let me know in the comments below how you could use this in your classroom
see how you can use chat GPT with assessment we're going to use
success criteria and this is something I would actually ask my students to use
um to proofread so say for example we have come up with some success criteria for a piece of
descriptive writing I go hey uh can you learn this this success criteria now bearing in mind
that chat GPT remembers what you teach it okay and it doesn't mind if I spell it wrong so one
um must have five sentences two must contain a an adverb I'm going to make this up an adverb
um three um must use a simile or metaphor at least once
okay
and now it's giving me an example right so I'm teaching a lesson this is Success criteria and
now it's giving me my example the sun rose slowly over the horizon casting long Shadow
like fingers all right so now imagine I'm a student and I have been typing my work so
here's my version it was a cold night the wind moved slowly through the trees I was scared
um the moon was like a silver light in the dark um so let's do that and I'm going to put it in quotes
like this and I'll go um rate this paragraph from one to five for each of the criteria
oh it's a little bit harsh but you get the idea here you can do this with any criteria
whatsoever so I know that I'm doing this for descriptive writing but you know you
could use this for the process of scientific thinking must have these things now you would
of course Define those success criteria in your class as you're teaching and then
you can use Char GPT to assess your kids and tell them whether or not they have met these
criteria how could you use this in your classroom today let me know when it comes
to standard five we're always looking for more formal informal formative summative yes standard
five assessment practices what do you think could chat GPT become a part of the way you
work with your students what impact would that have and what do you think that might do for the
way the students use chat GPT is this critical in creative thinking share your thoughts below
don't forget to tune in to our full episode on chat GPT over at edufolios.org forward slash
one five nine where I explore this and lots more and of course subscribe to our YouTube channel
so you never miss another video of reflective practice and growth because we're all about
helping you see the impact you're making so you can celebrate every difference you make take care
thank you
