Transcripts
would you think that sometimes a
extrinsic motivation can become
intrinsic motivation
well yes uh there are people uh who are
extremely motivated initially and then
slowly they actually develop intrinsic
motivation I can give you one example
right I used to be a basketball teacher
in charge and uh you know I look for
those students with very good height and
force them to join my basketball team
right now and then they try to run away
you know and so on because they are not
intuitively motivated towards the sports
right so initially I
close them right because some of these
students to to join on the sport and you
know 20 years later right this the same
student that of course into the
basketball team actually thanked me for
it he's left yeah because he actually
became a county he's in UK right he's a
vet now in UK and he still play
basketball up to today and he wrote an
email to thank me for introducing him
into basketball so it's very rare it's
very rare uh but as I say right uh the
nature of sport is slightly different
compared to subject matter so if we want
to promote long-term learning it is
still best to influence them through
your passion Through Your Love in the
subject right that you can actually
influence the students to go very far uh
in terms of that subject
