Transcripts
so I came out of another copy shop this
morning and guy was challenging me on we
were having a discussion about I was
actually having a discussion about Jesus
with somebody else and this guy chimed
in he said you know I think Jesus was
actually just a myth to begin with I
think he was kind of put together
together after the fact 3rd 4th century
AD so why are you telling me about all
the specifics of Jesus when I don't even
think he existed in the first place game
is because you only find Jesus in the
Bible so therefore where else is he
who's the greatest guy of all time
shouldn't we find him all over the place
and say well first of all let's look at
the Bible itself it's not just one book
I mean you had Matthew Mark Luke John
Paul Peter James and Jude alright
separate ancient texts about this guy
named Jesus so first and foremost let's
look at the power of eight separate guys
maybe 9 the author of Hebrews that wrote
about the man Jesus Christ next let's
just talk about every major world
religion deals with Jesus the Jewish
people you know a great rabbi a great
teacher you know there's even a
tradition and in the Buddhist world as a
as a Baha'i Eva and in the Indian world
or the Hindu world as a guru
obviously the Muslim world views Jesus
as a great prophet sure we'd separate
the entire eras by BC right before
Christ and and you know in the year of
our Lord ad so where did that come from
but I needed to dig in so I did I dug in
I said come on we have to have other
outside sources I was blown away you
know I ended up counting 40 separate
ancient sources for Jesus Christ within
a hundred and twenty years of his life
that's huge pales in comparison to the
ten I found for the Caesar of the time
basically the known leader of the world
of the time Tiberius only ten sources we
don't mean about mean by this I have
Josephus I have plenty of the younger I
have Suetonius I have all sorts of
writers that that talk about Jesus talk
about a religion that grew in his name
and these aren't really flowery expose
Zahn Jesus in this in this religion
these are actually adverse
witnesses in a sense see what I mean by
that is I'm I'm a lawyer so if you're
gonna get some great testimony on the
stand it's great when you have an
adverse witness turn testimony for you
see when you get an adverse witness to
corroborate your story
that's sometimes the most powerful
evidence you have so when I've got like
plenty asking you know the the Ceasar
hey how do I persecute these crazy
Christians I mean what are the rules of
engagement you know at one point at what
point when they don't disclaim their
their religion at one point that they
don't proclaim their allegiance to
Caesar when do I get to kill them you
know you have all of these incredible
stories of that that are not really
glowing stories of Jesus and and this
these these people called Christians and
so anyway my point here is that we have
a huge amount of evidence for Jesus
Christ outside of the biblical text we
have a number of historians and even
people that wrote satires and comedies
and and again I view this as dramatic
evidence for at least the man Jesus
Christ there is no myth or legend there
indeed was a great man Jesus Christ it's
what you do next that ultimately really
matters it's what you do with this man
Jesus Christ that will ultimately mean
everything
you
