it's not going to be a full-blown review

quite yet we're going to be giving our

initial thoughts on the beta fpv cetus X

bet fpv just sent this over to me

literally got it this morning called Sam

and I was like we got to get out we got

to fly so let's just jump into it yeah

let's talk to own

get to this though yes beta fpv has had

a long-standing relationship with the

Drone geek been sending me a lot of cool

stuff lately especially uh we just

recently did a comparison video for the

droning company on our fpv our FP Vlogs

uh where we compared the beta fpv Pavo

20 with the G RC synal 20 so make sure

you check that out uh we'll be doing

something similar with the cetus X on

the droning company Channel as well so

so make sure you check that out in the

very near future but I just got this in

the mail this morning and I got to tell

you first of all a lot bigger than I

thought it was going to be it is in the

photos it definitely looks much smaller

much smaller much smaller but I brought

this out it fits in the Palm my hand but

it's almost the same size as the Pavo 20

yeah I mean it's really almost

pound-for-pound the same drone pretty

much so I I was surprised by that uh I

was also surprised by the power system

not in a bad way but it is run off of

two 1s batteries 450 amp 1s batteries uh

proprietary plugs on board as well so

they go into uh these ports right here

doesn't matter which order you plug them

in you just plug them in and go uh

because they are running in parallel and

you get four of these with the package

combo that I got yeah this is an initial

thoughts video so uh those are my

initial thoughts on the actual drone

before we put it in the air the other

things we want to talk about are the

peripherals here uh so we do have our

beta fpv seus headset some old school

box goggles some old school box goggles

and what I think is really cool about

these is and it's cool in a way but it's

not cool in another way they're analog

it runs on an analog system um so it is

just you select your channel um and what

I really liked about it is as far as

like setup goes all you have to do is

long press the S button on top of the

goggles when you do that it

automatically searches for the channel

That the Drone is broadcasting from so

power on the Cs X press and hold the S

button and it automatically locates the

the channel that it's broadcasting to so

you don't have to do any configuring if

you don't want to it's literally just

press button and go same with the

controller controller they send you uh

it runs on Express lrs uh so it's an lrs

connection uh that's what you're going

to be using for your Rx and then to bind

it all you have to do is press and hold

the bind button and uh as long as the

Drone is on it will bind to the Drone

too so it is as straightforward as you

can get um the only thing that I'll say

is during my initial setup of the Drone

you have to plug it into beta flight

which is not abnormal at all like I was

expecting to have to do that for some

reason and I don't know if it's just

mine or if this is everybody's the

propeller order or the propeller

direction or the motor Direction was set

to reversed interesting you have to

deselect reverse motor Direction in beta

flight they had the props installed the

props yeah go ahead like they had the

props installed and it in the

configuration it had it was just

reversed yes so they have the props

installed to actually be props out um so

when I was when I plugged it in it had

motor Direction reversed and when I

tried to take this off for the first few

times it just you know flipped over um

and didn't go anywhere as soon as I

deselected motor Direction reversed and

I made it so that it's going the right

direction or the intended Direction I

had it in the air like within seconds

interesting so you will want to get into

beta fpv and check that and if it is the

box is checked that the motor direction

is reversed uncheck it if you're having

trouble getting this thing in the air so

definitely something good to know

speaking of getting in the air this is

an initial thoughts video it won't be

super long we're just going to put this

in the air Sam's going to fly one pack

I'm going to fly the other and we'll

talk about what we find at the end so

let's get in the air I'm excited I

didn't go over this in the opening uh

the switch for the goggles the power

switch is just that little slider there

you just switch this over to the right

and you're powered on and then again you

just connect by pressing and holding

that s button if you want to expedite

the process but we do have a feed I am

recording to the goggles right now um so

we're going to go ahead and put this in

the air just going to hold the down

arrow and then your arm button by

default is this one on the back left

here so you're just going to press that

so it's a button it is a button uh they

do have flight mode switchers on right

in front of that the switch in front of

that switches you between angle Horizon

and Air modor we're going to just fly in

air mode um so we're going to take off

oo there he goes there he goes and we're

going to fly it around here now again

this is analog and I don't have a lot of

experience myself flying analog uh so

this will be a little bit of a learning

curve in terms of like understanding the

limits of the Drone itself we have a

pretty clear open Park here so you

shouldn't run into too much breakup no

and you know honestly like the break

that's the thing about analog is you I

had a hard time I was flying this a

little bit earlier I had a hard time

actually losing signal it's just the

breakup can become so severe that it's

like it makes it really hard to see but

I'm going to push it out a little

further here especially if you've never

flown analog before it's a little

jarring at times like you can be right

in front of yourself and all of a sudden

your your signal gets all messed up uh

but it doesn't it never completely goes

away it just kind of breaks up a little

bit that's exactly what I experienced

just a second ago I put it out into the

middle of the field there towards the

playground and I got to the point where

the signal was so you know fuzzy and

noisy uh I got a little uncomfortable

and had to bring it back so we'll go

ahead and we'll push it back out again

and then what kind up of uh what kind of

flight times you getting on this so the

first two flights that I had this

morning I got about three and a half to

four minutes per flight that's

respectable it's pretty good I have to

say that's maybe one of the most

impressive things about this little

drone is that um the flight times are

are pretty good considering the size

cell that you're working with and uh

everything that goes into it but now see

when I'm in the trees here I get a

little bit of a breakup of course and

then I noticed

it must be the tree the trees are

getting between me and the Drone because

when I go out to the right of the field

I get really bad breakup but as soon as

I bring it back to the left I sort of

get rid of that noise yeah you get to be

the one that figures out where all the

bad spots are yeah the bad spots are

definitely they become noticeable very

quick but it's not like I said it's not

an immediate cutout it is you know it'll

go a little bit noisy and then you just

turn it around and bring it back I do

like the maneuverability yeah it looks

really Nimble it's very Nimble for like

comparison to the the Pavo 20 where

would you rate it comparison like as far

as like its acrobatic so in terms of its

aerobatics I would say this is maybe a

half step below the Pavo 20 um it's it's

definitely not quite as uh responsive as

the popo 20 but man it's it's darn close

um I mean it's like I'm excited to fly

here but it just watching it here it

looks really impressive for a like a

budget offering it's yeah and we'll talk

about the price towards the end here but

before we do that and before my

batteries run out I do want to and

speaking of Acro I'm in air

mode it caught itself surprisingly well

there it did it had a little bit of a

wobble it did but like pretty good it's

not bad I was that's impressive Let's uh

let's try something else here let's do a

this is usually where my tiny whoops

mess up is when I try to do like a a

jump front flip oh no that caught itself

nicely that was nice I didn't get to see

that one but it it sounded really smooth

yeah no everything went here I'll do it

one more time wait hold on let me get it

so you can see it here I got to crouch

down a little bit you do Jolly Green

Giant over here all right can you see it

I can see her all right here we go I'm

going to do a jump flip dang not too bad

man pretty good not too bad all right I

did get a low battery warning we are

sort of towards the bottom of this we're

at three and a half minutes almost on

the nose damn so I'll bring it back and

I will land

it o can I catch it yeah go ahead go ha

we got it got it hey we're still

recording too so we can see all this so

yeah um we had first flight there I got

to say uh in terms of the peripherals

really love the goggles the way they fit

it's not it's not like a DJI V2 I mean

it's it's an analog box goggle it is but

uh the the foam on it or the padding on

it really comfortable on my face it's a

little warm today it's like 94 degrees

today so um it is a little bit hot here

in north central Pennsylvania so not

super breathable but overall very

comfortable even with the analog feed

though super clear like in terms of I

there's no smudging nothing weird going

on with the goggles like pretty good

goggles uh controller I was really happy

with really pleased with this and

actually I'm going to go ahead just so

we don't run these batteries down too

low just on the note of the controller

the fact that this has the option to

have like an external module on it for

Express lrs or or something else um I

mean that means you can have this

controller and once you've graduated

from flying this guy you can I mean you

could move on to to a larger drone like

a 5 in I'm pretty sure this controller

will work for um a simulator if you

wanted to do that so I'm going to go

tonight and double check that in the

next video we do I'll confirm whether

that's true or not but I don't see why

it wouldn't be it should yeah it should

work so um but the controller overall

super responsive I love the feel of the

gimbals themselves and it's for a

Gamepad style controller it fits nicely

in your hand it's not bad I'll be

interested to see how you do with it I'm

super pleased with the way that it flew

uh again the analog signal is difficult

especially if you've never analog to get

used to but the actual handling of the

Drone it was good one thing I'll note is

I am very used to Flying my synal 20 and

this thing screams especially with the

five-bladed props I have on here now

I'll show you later um this thing is

ridiculously loud that's really not that

bad not pry quiet it's it's it was not

super noticeable um which is great for

like stealthy flying not that we want to

encourage people to break rules or

anything but if you didn't want to

disturb a lot of people this would be a

great Dr you're out at a park like this

and maybe there's a handful of people at

the park you don't want to fly your 5 in

because you're going to disturb people

right something like this would be

perfect and like it comes back to again

between the noise and then the handling

we did uh a power Loop and the power

Loop did okay it was a little wobbly but

it wasn't too bad but front flips back

flips I'm assuming barrel rolls would

play in the same way there were no

issues it was actually very smooth uh to

do those tricks so if You' like to fly

Acro like I don't see why you couldn't

do a little bit of Acro with this it's

it it responded well I'll say

surprisingly this handles Acro better

than the pav 20 does really yep and

better than the Pavo Pico for that

matter I wonder because I remember

earlier you had me hold both of them the

the Pavo 20 is slightly heavier just

ever so slightly I wonder if that just

being it being lighter weight has

something to play into that I would

assume so it's not a super breezy day

today so taking this out on a windy day

might change the handling and the

characteristics because it may be a

little too lightweight but um that's

that's my opinion of the Drone itself

I'm excited to see what you think so

let's go ahead let's get the new

batteries out let's get Sam in the air

sick so I think the last time I flew

something of this kind of category

especially analog

was several several years ago the the

tiny Hawk 2 okay the tiny Hawk 2 was was

that's what I learned to fpv on Wow was

the tiny Hawk 2 a pair of um old fat

shark box goggles so so it's been a

while it's been a while since I've done

analog on a whoop well this will be a

nice little reminder as to how far we've

come in the world of drones especially

fpvs and then arm is this button you're

going to press that button down it'll

stay stuck in what mode am I in right

now you're in uh air mode right now and

that'll St on the bottom right hand

corner of the goggles it'll tell you

what it's in and you can switch again

it's air mode angle mode and Horizon

mode your basic flight modes haven't

done this in a minute Apes in advance if

I crash your drone you better not I just

got it this

morning well I

might oh there it goes oh yeah

now before you get into your evaluation

of it I will say I pitched the camera

forward a little bit um it it did it

does come with a really nice intuitive

little camera angle system uh it's just

a couple of uh Phillips head screws and

you just tighten them or loosen them if

you want to adjust it but I did have to

pitch It Forward because my first flight

was a little too aggressive uh and I

ended up crashing

it no this is handling really nicely

it's smooth like ridiculously smooth

now would you say this is a this would

be a good option for somebody just off

of the cough this would be a good option

for somebody that's looking to get into

fpv at a low cost oh definitely okay

um this thing flies like I'm actually

really shocked by how well this flies it

it handles really

well oh yeah you can totally do I mean

you can't do anything like crazy Acro

with it but you can do a little bit you

could do some Acro

all right I'm curious to see what the

range on the we might have to take a

walk is what you're saying

maybe I've got eyes on it so I'll see if

it goes into the road if it goes into

the road though I'm going to be sad no

I'm not I'll have to call Ellie at bet

fpv and have her send me a new one and

I'll blame you for it oh that gets

pretty bad right there oh it's back it's

back you bring it to the left a little

bit yep you get back I'm I'm over at the

the incident area oh where the the

original crash happened all right yeah

dude I hate finding a I will say that

the analog is a little rough that

way but you know what for this I think

this is the as much range as I would

really need I don't think I would

realistically need too much more range

than this I

can comfortably fly in and around these

trees I went out pretty far there

actually well when you consider too what

it's created for I mean this is and this

is straight out of beta fpv if you're

looking for a fun lowcost drone to fly

and to sort of get acclimated to how

manual drone flights are done mhm this

is the way to go so you're really not

going to be pushing the range on this

this isn't one of those types of drones

okay but I legitimately this is crazy

smooth it's super smooth though like

it's super

smooth now what did you just do there I

just did a barrel roll okay I was

wondering oh yeah she flies

nice I the only thing that I I really

have like a criticism about other than

the analog and it is what it is with

that is they didn't send me more

batteries like we're done after this

like that's it's over after

this but with as cheap as they are I'll

probably just go buy

some I got to say I'm having a blast

flying this this is so much fun it takes

the pressure off and I think that's a

good thing to note especially for folks

that are trying to get into fpv like the

base price on this I'm going to look it

up cuz I'm not sure off the top of my

head cetus X

price okay cus X fpv Flight kit you can

get on right now and purchase the entire

kit that I have here for $289 $289 y 289

bucks I was going to say like 500 bucks

no this is 289 bucks that is actually

kind of wild it's it is wild and like

when you consider it is analog um you

know it is limited in its capacity in

terms of flight time and things like

that it makes more sense but flying this

doesn't feel like a $300 drone no it

feels like something much more advanced

and

expensive but not in a bad way and

that's sort of I guess what I was trying

to say was and get to is flying this

drone takes a lot of pressure off

because it's so low

price that's the only thing I don't like

about the controller inter it's

difficult to find where the button is

because it's if this was reversed I

would like this better actually like I'm

sure you could swap it in beta flight so

that just because whenever it's down

here I'll unplug this so that we can see

but because whenever it's down it's like

flush with this and it's difficult to

feel on the controller where the D arm

switch is and you you can and that's

what I do like about this kit is it is

truly an entrylevel like fpv solution

because it they encourage you to plug it

into betaf flight in fact I wouldn't

have had an Airborne today if I didn't

know to plug it into beta flight and

adjust the motor Direction and things

you can get in and adjust the the inputs

and the so that your switches are a

little bit different if you so choose

and I think that's one thing that I will

end up doing is switching the arming

switch to something that's a rocker

panel instead because like you said it's

just not it's not intuitive to be able

to find that while you've got your

goggles on no okay so I was already

impressed with it whenever I saw you fly

it but I'm I'm impressed with this it's

pretty awesome pretty aw so you said so

under $300 under $300 9.99 right now on

BET site yep and you get four batteries

so two batteries really you get four

cells two batteries uh you get the

controller the goggles and the Drone

plus extra propellers a toolkit uh and a

carrying case which is off camera

legitimately whenever people start

asking me how to get into fpv I'm going

to start recommending why not I mean

it's really a great drone um because the

controller I mean okay so I'm not going

to say none of this is like the highest

quality no so the controller feels a

little plasticky but it'll work it it

works so long as the gimbals hold up um

which they feel they feel quality that's

the test of time though how will this

how will this controller be in a year is

going to be the question but as of right

now like you can we we're fairly certain

that you can use this on a simulator y

it works with this it's going to work

with future drones that you have um so I

mean this is relatively future proofed

the analog box goggles like they're not

my favorite to fly with but they work

they do work um and this guy is this is

a ton of fun to fly it's really a lot of

fun I wish we had more batteries that's

the only thing I'm mad about is that

they didn't send us more batteries beta

F send us more batteries all joking

aside like that is my biggest complaint

we don't have more flight time um but

but I mean that flight um I landed and I

was at 4 minutes 30 seconds that's

pretty good so that's so I could have

pushed it another like 45 seconds then

cuz I landed mine at like I think it was

between 3:30 and 4 like somewhere in

there for any fpv drone that's pretty

respectable it's really considering my

paavo 20 only gets marginally more than

that usually like that's I mean if I'm

ripping with a 5 inch like I wasn't

doing anything crazy with it but I'm if

I'm ripping with a 5 inch like I'm

probably going to get around four or

five minutes with it easy yeah so that's

that's impressive it makes sense and

what I really like about it you talk

about the price you talk about the

experience flying it both those things

are super important but really like what

I'm super happy with about this is the

setup like if you if you have have no

knowledge of fpv and you want to get

into it and you're just looking to get

your feet wet go with this I had it

plugged in and ready to go and aside

from the issue on beta flight where I

had to switch the motor Direction it was

it was so easy to set it up like I had

it plugged in and ready to go within 30

seconds of getting out of Bo and the

fact that the goggles have a channel

scanner yeah just to find what it's on

yep um that's pretty awesome it's

awesome cuz it takes all of that out of

it not that that's a difficult process

to go through but it's just another step

but if you have yeah if you have to SW

switch through eight different channels

to find which one your drone's on now

eliminate that and what I really like

about it is once it finds the channel it

doesn't switch so from now on as long as

I keep the settings the same with the

channel on the Drone every time I plug

it in and every time I turn the goggles

on it'll pair yeah so it's ready to go

that's awesome yeah um and I guess the

only thing I'd say is it's something we

can't really test uh is build quality

yeah um unless we want it to run this

into a tree over and over again we can't

really determine the durability of it

but I will say this feels similar to

that of whenever I flew my tiny Hawk M

and the tiny Hawk could take a beating

oh yeah um just because it weighs

nothing yeah so it weighs nothing and

you crash into it like oh there's no

momentum or weight behind it that crash

it it has a hard time hurting itself

once we get to the end of our review

process and we've gone through this a

few times with this drone and really

vetted it out I think we will go there I

think that we're going to bring it back

here we're going to run it into some

trees running into some objects because

I will say this as fun as this is to fly

for guys like you and me we've already

got the Pavo P we've already got the we

don't really need this um this is sort

of uh just it's fun and it's good for

people that are just getting into it but

if you've got experience already and

you've already got your own drones I you

know I don't know if I would recommend

it to those types of folks yeah I just I

can't get over like genuinely how smooth

it was like it super smooth and shocked

that's the that's I guess not to not to

take it back to a drawback on it but one

of the reasons it it is a super smooth

flight and it's a lot of fun so if

you're even if you're a guy that's

already got fpv and you're just looking

for something fun to beat around like

okay because I imagine you can get this

individually from the the whole kit I

believe so yeah I believe you can buy

just the Drone if that was the case I

mean you could pick it up have a little

fun Basher you could yeah you could it's

it the only downside to it aside from

the fact that it is analog and the

everything like that no room to mount

like like you can't use this

professionally I'm going to say that

only because you can't mount a camera to

it and you're certainly not going to use

the feed from the VTX like it's not

going to work so don't buy this with the

intention of okay I'm going to use it

then to earn money it's not going to

happen this is definitely a stepping

stone yes 100% so especially if you get

this whole kit then you can what I would

recommend is grab the controller plug it

into there are several free flight Sims

at this point um but the one I mostly

use is liftoff which I think is 20 bucks

on Steam yeah um put like 10 hours into

the into the flight Sim and then you'll

probably be comfortable enough to take

this outside fly it around a little bit

I would agree with with that I would

agree so all in all what's your what's

your thoughts on this I mean closing

thoughts this thing gets two thumbs up

for me I'll also give it two thumbs up

uh it is a great little drone and I want

to thank beta fpv for sending it over to

see if she'll send one to you so then we

can have two and then we can rip them

around a little bit so races we'll see
