Outlines

Transcripts
hello and welcome to the Gunpla Network
I'm your host Zeta Chi and this time
we're going to be looking at this kit
the high grade universal century vo or
vo to be more precise but were
uncultured Westerners so we're going to
call it the Bo this is of course from
the series Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and
is based on the Mobile Suit piloted by
Camille's nemesis everyone's favorite
lilac Ida sociopath PAP Thomas Schirach
o or if you're so inclined masterpath
Denise and I'll get this right out of
the way this is a thick boy this this a
thick Mobile Suit it's big its chunky
it's huge it's definitely inspired by
the Japanese Sumo culture however
despite the fact that it is a rather big
boy it's yen price of two thousand six
hundred and forty yen suggests that it's
not as detailed as you might think this
was released in 2002 and it is kind of
an older model kit so let's see how it
stacks up so you're going to see that
that coloration first of all it's a very
unique color for a Mobile Suit that
desert II sand yellowy green kind of
color which I found is very susceptible
to subtle changes in lighting as you go
through the review you'll see that I
apologize for that
you also get some gray blue kind of
gunmetal color to green bits there on
the front skirt armor and some red
piping here and there you also get a
plastic pink mono eye which I think
might be the only hguc with a plastic
mono eye what to look that up let me
know down below if you have a plastic
mono I'd high-grade I'd love to know so
the details are abundant all over the
kit it's mainly comprised of giant
yellowy armor pieces and a lot of small
little thrusters all over the kit which
makes sense because the conceit of the O
is is heavily armored it's ostensibly a
space type mobile suit so it needs a lot
of thrusters to move it around and it
does move around quite well in the show
the beam saber hilts store on the side
skirts right there very nicely and you
get a lot of detail here in the ankle
area
in a multicolored ankle which used by
plastic might be a first in the hguc
line the details are abundant throughout
the kit there are some places where
panel lighting might be a little tricky
but for the most part the panel lighting
opportunities afforded by this kit are
very very nice and you could take
advantage of that quite simply the kit
itself is rather simple and construction
there isn't a high part count especially
with those Armour pieces most of the
parts come from the little gray
thrusters you're putting all over the
kit and as such it kind of suffers from
its age and its simplicity you get a
giant seam line through the middle of
the head
you get seam lines across the tops of
the shoulders here through the top of
the torso on the backpack you get some
really bad ones on the forearms and you
get one on the Front's of the ankles but
that's it it's not too bad so let's talk
articulation but first let's talk about
Canadian Gundam Canadian Gundam comm has
all the greatest Gunpla that you could
ever hope to imagine they are constantly
replenishing their supply getting in new
kits old kits vintage kits anything you
would want make sure you check out
Canadian Gundam comm use our coupon code
Gunpla Network check them out often use
their private warehouse to stock up on
all the kits that you want and then ship
them to you all at once and check them
out on Facebook so articulation again
this is 2002 but the articulation isn't
too bad especially given the fact that
this has all these gigantic armor pieces
all over it that can inhibit
the articulation it's pretty
straightforward all around and most of
the joints are pretty tight which which
surprised me this joint I really like I
really like this thruster moving it
feels very nice the way that it's
constructed and engineer I just I don't
know I just really like my favorite
joint on the kit
so everything else is pretty basic bicep
swivel the head on a ball-joint the
torso is on a nice ball joint which is
good the arm can spin 360 degrees you'd
have to watch out for the giant kind of
backpack thing but you can get it to go
all the way around it does only have a
single bend in the elbow and it does
about 90 degrees exactly
so there is that the skirt armor moves
around and gets out of the way pretty
well although the front skirts are just
on a single ball joint well each side is
on a single ball joint and the back
skirt is really it's one peg on a poly
cap and I know that's not going to hold
up over time
the legs are pretty articulate I don't
know what else you could do here the the
armor kind of all runs into itself it
has a double joint in the leg it's not
really a double knee because the one
joints clear up in the hip and the other
ones down in the knee it moves around as
much as you could expect it I don't know
what else you could do at this size and
price point to increase that
articulation movable leg flap a nice
ankle ball joint that gives you a lot of
mobility in the ankles but doesn't
sacrifice the stability those gigantic
feet give you a lot of stability just a
ball jointed hip old style hip so you
don't get a great spread out of it or
anything
and the secret sub arms from the button
wouldn't spoil anything for you there
the sub arms work really well I like
them a lot the only unfortunate thing is
that ball joint just doesn't hold them
up very well and that's gonna droop over
time the other thing I don't understand
is why these weren't molded in red I
would much rather have these molded in
red and then have to paint the gray bits
then have them molded in gray but oh
well what can you do so what they look
like on the other side that plastic
armor and you have some accessories for
those sub arms and the regular arms to
wield you get four beam saber hilts and
beam saber blades the master grade only
has two so the high grade Universal
century is superior in that regard
the hilts are very unique and the beam
saber blades are super unique they're
curved they come to a point I love them
you get a trigger finger hand and you
get one beam rifle it's not a lot of
accessories but it's everything that the
OU has in the show the OU is again
heavily armored and made for CQC
battling and you can see that with these
four beam saber blades equipped this is
definitely the killer shot for the oh it
looks so impressive with four beam
sabers the only other one that I can
think of off the top of my head that
compares to this is the CeraVe another
chunky boy with six beam sabers the nice
thing is that the sub arms hold the beam
sabers very securely a lot more securely
than the actual hands do they tend to
slip and fall out of the regular hands
all the time and unfortunates indicator
that this is from 2002 the beam rifle
only other hand when equipped to the
other hand is super stable super secure
looks great with the contrasting piping
in the yellowy color and is a weird beam
rifle design it's a giant slab but it
looks good I like it another indicator
of the age is the fact that there is no
adapter for an action base there's
nothing included for an action base
you're gonna have to get one of these
kind of cradles this is the one
centimeter one with the kind of square
adapter to put it on a modern action
base but once it's on there it holds it
very stable it's secure it's in the air
as the o is meant to be vo doesn't
really look crazy dynamic in the air but
if you really think about space it's
doesn't have to but you know physics
sync on them so let's talk size
comparison shall we the chunk
a funny boy
chump
[Music]
the chalk
mega Chokin okay so what you're gonna
really want to see the Oh whiff is
paired up with the Zeta Gundam camille
vs master captain is in a face-off and
they look really good together however I
will say that my first instinct was that
the Zeta Gundam or the O wasn't quite as
large as I remembered in the show and
we'll talk about that in a second let's
compare it to the real grade rx-78 - -
and then we have the high grade
universal century revive and the Oh
should come up to about 7 and 3/4 inches
but it's only about seven and a quarter
it should be in scale much taller than
it is it should be up to there where the
beam saber is to the top of that
stabilizer and it just seems very small
in fact here's the bureau land and the
beer land is perfectly in scale with the
Zeta Gundam however it should be much
shorter than the O it should be almost a
full inch and a half shorter than the O
and it's just about the same size head
height this is probably my biggest
complaint about this kit is just the
scale is a little off here it is with
path to misses other mobile suits the
Pallas Athene and the masala and again
both of these kits should be smaller
than the Oh actually the O should be
larger than that because they are pretty
much in scale with these a2 Gundams so
I'm gonna harp on that the scales a
little off the Oh should be bigger it's
interesting to note that these are both
master pap Tomas's designs but they are
not designed by the same designer in
fact each one of these mobile suits is a
different designer the O being designed
by makoto kobayashi the Pallas Athene
being designed by Nagano and the masala
being designed by Fujita who designed to
Zeta Gundam so let's compare it to the
Master Grade vo when they Master Grade
the O came out everyone said it was a
giant high grade it was overpriced and
after building the high grade I have to
say I'm I'm inclined to agree there
isn't a whole lot of extra detail on the
Master Grade that the high grade doesn't
possess yes there are some green
thrusters here and there and there's
a little bit more interframe detail
although there's and a lot more inner
frame but all the external detail is
there only high-grade the biggest
difference to me is the master gate is
much more accurate in color and is
definitely a higher quality plastic
finish and is definitely heftier but if
you're really looking between the two of
them I say go for the high-grade the
master gate also incidentally is out of
scale it should be larger than it is
technically but they do look great
together you can tell they're both
trying to represent that same mobile
suit the Odette the master grade one
definitely looks a little better that
that plastic is more of a matte finish
and the color is more accurate and
deeper and more rich but I think if they
made the high grade Universal century
the Oh nowadays it would look the same
so all in all who is this kit for well I
highly recommend it for anyone who's
into Zeta Gundam it's definitely a fun
and simple build this could be one of
your first high grade kits you ever
built and it would be super impressive
because it would be large it definitely
stands apart as far as design so I
recommend it to anyone who's interested
in Zeta Gundam and who may be looking
for something different that is kind of
an easier build that will look great on
their shelf they look wild and weird and
quite different has a good shelf
presence so that's it for me make sure
