🏆 Achieving High Profit Margins with Select Couches
Daniel highlights his highest profit couches, which yielded $700 to $1,000 in profit, and attributes these successes to getting excellent deals on navy blue and gray sectionals in excellent condition. He shares a story of a particularly profitable 'big gorilla' gray U-shaped sectional bought for only $200 and sold for $1,250, resulting in over $1,000 in profit. Daniel stresses the importance of resourcefulness over resources, using the example of a family friend who successfully flips couches with minimal investment, utilizing regular cars, trailers, and home storage.
🚗 Flipping Couches Without a Truck
Daniel shares creative solutions for transporting couches without a truck, such as using a car with a trailer hitch or renting a U-Haul truck. He recounts a story of a friend, Jaden, who used a Toyota Camry to pull a massive trailer filled with couches. Daniel suggests renting a truck for a few hours to pick up and sell couches, offering delivery as a service to offset the rental cost. He emphasizes that starting a couch flipping business does not require a significant upfront investment in vehicles or storage.
📊 The Importance of Tracking and Investing in Better Couches
Daniel emphasizes the importance of tracking every aspect of the couch flipping business, including expenses, profits, and details about each couch. He offers a free tracking sheet on his Instagram and explains how it helped him reach over $10,000 in monthly sales. He also advises investing more in better quality couches to reduce the amount of work needed and increase profit margins. Daniel suggests that once a flipper has some capital, they should spend more on higher-quality couches to ensure better resale value.
🎨 Staging and Listing Techniques for Higher Sales
Daniel discusses the importance of staging and listing in the couch flipping game. He explains that staging involves setting up a scene around the couch to help buyers envision it in their home, while a well-crafted listing creates value by providing detailed information, high-quality pictures, and professional cleaning. He suggests using tools like a tape measure and offering delivery to enhance the buyer's experience and increase the perceived value of the couch.
📘 Outsourcing Tasks with a Virtual Assistant
For those doing over $5,000 to $10,000 a month in sales, Daniel recommends hiring a virtual assistant from the Philippines to handle backend tasks. He shares his personal experience with a virtual assistant who helped with sourcing couches, setting up deliveries, sales, pickups, and updating profit and loss sheets. Daniel explains that the cost of hiring a virtual assistant is minimal but can greatly increase efficiency and allow the flipper to focus on growing the business.
🛷 The Essential Role of Dollies in Couch Flipping
Daniel stresses the importance of having high-quality dollies for moving couches efficiently. He shares his experience of buying sturdy dollies with large rubber wheels from Facebook Marketplace, which drastically improved his ability to move couches by himself. Daniel advises against using cheap dollies with plastic wheels and insists on having multiple dollies in the car for easy transport.
📦 Storing Couches Upright to Maximize Space
The final lesson from Daniel involves storing couches upright to save space. He demonstrates how this method allows for more couches to be stored in a smaller area and makes it easier to move them around. yo what is up fellow couch flippers my
name is Daniel and over the last year I
have done over
$100,000 in used couch sales with
multiple five figure profit months so in
this video I'm going to be sharing with
you the 10 steps and lessons that I've
learned personally that I think could
help you on your journey especially if
you're a new flipper get to that next
level start making money start achieving
Financial Freedom so let's get right
into it really quick before I start this
video I just want to shout out my in
stagram page really quick @ couch flip
aan I'm going to be posting daily on
their Instagram reels just tips and
tricks on Flipping couches so if you
want to find me daily go follow me over
there so one of the first things that I
want to share with you is the average
price that I bought a couch and the
average price that I sold a couch for so
over the hundreds of couches that I've
sold doing the numbers the average cost
that I've spent on a couch is $250
now that's not too high and too low and
I think for me personally I've
definitely been spending more on the
higher end I've spent upwards of $4500
on many couches because I believe in
spending more for better product but
I've definitely gotten my fair share of
great deals
now the average profit margin for my
couches is around $350 profit so that
means I I'm on average selling couches
for around $600 so 250 to 600 with a
$350 margin and that that's about the
average over the hundreds of couches now
I've had $1,000 profit couch and I've
had $80 profit couches it all depends on
the market the
couch everything that goes into a sale
really depends on so many different
factors but overall of that that is kind
of the average so if you're getting into
flipping right now if you're new if you
don't know what to price your couches at
that is the average across the board now
number two my highest profit couches
ever that's $700 profit $900 profit
$1,000 profit couch guys they are out
there these couches you can get them a
super good deal now you're not going to
get those every day but a couch like
that you can get they are out there and
I just wanted to share my highest profit
couches are either navy blue sectionals
or gray section sectionals and they're
both going to be in excellent condition
now the way to get such a high profit
margin on just a single couch is getting
a a killer deal so this couch right here
I call it the big gorilla I bought it
for only $200 I cleaned it up and it was
in really really good condition the gray
u-shaped sectionals are very high in
demand and I was able to sell that couch
for
$1,250 so that couch alone netted me
over $1,000
in pure profit so I just wanted to share
navy blue and gray sectionals if you're
looking to make the most money I would
stick with those
two the third lesson that I learned is
that resourcefulness is better than
having
resources now what do I mean by that so
if you're just getting into couch
flipping you can start to get ideas
right of what you might want to do later
down the line what you think you need to
start flipping couches and so I just
want to share a story really quick I
have a family friend that I'm that I
helped start flipping
couches they make around $1,500 to
$2,000 a month just flipping couches out
of their house so they can have extra
cash it's truly a side hustle for them
but all they do is they pick up couches
with their normal cars they got trailers
for their cars they pick up couches and
they store them in their garage and in
their back
room and with that they're able to make
a lot of money and they hardly invested
anything to get started as opposed to
just feeling like you need resources to
get started you feel like you need to go
buy a truck and that you immediately
need to get a storage unit it's not like
that I've heard so many stories of
flippers and just using the most random
places to store their couch in some
random Vehicles if you are creative and
you really want to make it work you can
make it work now that kind of goes into
my next Point number four if you have a
regular car you can still flip couches
don't think that you need a pick up
truck or a box truck in order to start
flipping couches I I scaled up to
$10,000 a month over $15,000 in sales
some months with just a car and a
trailer so what you can do is you can go
to U-Haul and you can rent a or you can
have a trailer hitch put on the back of
your car I remember remember when I
first started flipping couches my buddy
Jaden he had this V or this uh 4cylinder
Toyota Camry and he was pulling this
massive massive trailer like this thing
was like tilted like this CU it was so
low and it he could fit four or five
couches on that thing it was absolutely
insane I would not recommend that but if
you need to you can absolutely do that
I've seen tiny cars pulling big weight
so you can go that route you can get a
$500 trailer it cost to get a hitch on
and boom you have a couch mobile or what
you can do is if you don't want to put
wear and tear on your cars you can just
rent a U-Haul truck from U-Haul Home
Depot budget whatever and so you can
align three two to three four pickups
for a couple hour period pick up couches
list them clean them whatever and then
when it's time to sell them you can just
offer delivery for whatever it's going
to cost you to rent the U-Haul so you
don't even have to to pay again now
that's going to eat into your margin but
if you don't want to come out of pocket
if you don't want to put wear and tear
on your car you're literally using
someone else's
vehicle taking this couch cleaning it up
selling it and you didn't
even have to buy a vehicle so it's going
to eat at your margin a little bit but
you're going to be able to get started
faster and start making money the number
five tip is to track everything I mean
everything I can show you my sheet right
here I used to track every dollar that
came in every dollar that went out every
couch that I bought the color the
description the size the condition how
much I bought it for how much I plan to
sell it for how much I did sell it for
my profit goal everything like that and
over the months and months if you
consistently do that you'll have so much
data to back your decisions when
flipping couches that you won't even
need to like think too much you can just
say this is what worked this is what
didn't work this is what we're going to
keep doing this is what my finances look
like and and everything starts to come
together and make sense if you really
stay on top of this and track everything
that data that you get is so valuable
and so important so make sure you're
tracking everything really quick if you
want a free tracking sheet the same
thing that I used to get to over $10,000
in sales every single month before I
made a brand new one you can head over
to my Instagram @ couch flip Dan and
click on this little highlight right
here that says free tracker
and I linked it right here this is
literally the same exact thing that I
used all the way up to $10,000 in sales
every single month it will work great
for you it has an inventory sheet a
profit and loss sheet and a couch
scouting sheet so while you're scouting
if there's a couch you want to keep
track of you can put it in
there and collect all that data that you
need the number six tip I have is to pay
more for better
couches I see a lot of new flippers that
pick up literally crap like they'll pick
up this free $30 couch or this free
couch that's red and it's like a little
futon and they got it on the side of the
road and it has dog pee on it and
they'll spend six hours cleaning it and
all this and taking pictures of it and
listing it to sell it for $3 to
$50 when it would be better once you
have the money obviously if you're
starting off just do what you got to do
but once you have the money I would 100%
100% recommend spending more on a couch
like I said my average purchase price is
$250 but I easily spend $400 $500 on
couches because the less work you have
to do to them the better condition that
they're in the more you can sell it for
the more profit you can make so if
there's a really good couch and it's
like a gray uh recliner sectional and
it's going for 600 and you get them down
to
$400 that couch you can just pick up and
flip it for $800 and there's $400 right
there you barely did any work you just
picked it up and listed it as opposed to
a $100 couch that has uh that it was a
pet friendly home and they smoked and so
you have to spend three days cleaning it
and because of all this stuff maybe
there's damage or whatever you can only
make a $200 $300 profit on it so once
you have the funds 100% I recommend that
you invest more to make more it just
makes things so much more simple now
number seven might be one of the most
important tips but it's that staging and
your listing is everything in the couch
flipping game what do I mean by that so
staging is the act of creating a staging
setup around your couch like this one
here I have the table I have the
painting because it puts it into the
buyer's mind that what it might look
like in their home and then your listing
as well guys you are in the job of
creating value and so if you take really
good pictures you you want to create as
much value as possible for the customer
because the reason you can sell this
$200 couch for $800 is because of the
added value you cleaned it you have
really nice pictures you showed them the
dimensions your description is really
neat and set out you offer delivery and
all these things they create value and
allow you to profit on the work that
somebody else was not willing to do so
if you're going to do anything couch
flipping you can even take medium
couches and flip them for more if you
just nail down these two things so you
don't have to spend a ton of money get a
cheap rug on Marketplace you're you're
already on Marketplace all day so get a
rug get a table get some plants get a
painting in the background if you're
flipping couches out of your house dude
bring them inside take a nice picture of
it take a bunch of pictures if you have
a tape measure which you should have a
tape measure like take pictures of all
the dimensions put it in the description
tell them in the description you just
professionally cleaned it guys and
professionally clean it don't lie okay
but clean it well clean it well because
you're you want to bless somebody with a
a nice couch people don't want su's like
dogs butt scratching couch they want a
nice clean couch in their new home and
they don't want to Shell out $3,000 for
a couch so people are like how how are
you just going to you know relist my
couch but we're creating value here
we're value creators we're not just
arbitraging the difference per se so
nail down your staging nail down your
listing and you will sell a lot more
couches and it's always a process I
haven't pic found the perfect listing or
the perfect staging setup people are
even using AI to Stage their couches
like this one here that I was able to
use AI to put a nice background so it
looks nice on the Facebook page people
want to click on it more increases
engagement now the number eight tip is
for the more advanced people if you're
doing over like 5 to 10K a month what I
did was hire a virtual assistant from
the Philippines now if you want to learn
more about that DM me on Instagram and
that's for the more advanced flippers
but my virtual assistant was honestly he
was awesome what I would do is I would
hop on a call with him once a week and
we would talk I wrote him all the
standard procedures
but he would set up he would Source
couches for me he would set up
deliveries he would set up um sales and
Pickups he would update my profit and
loss sheet he would list my couches for
me like he did all of the backend
computer stuff that nobody wants to do
and these guys in the Philippines that I
only paid him $2.50 an hour you're
probably thinking dude that's like effed
up like 250 like that's that's nowhere
near minimum wage but in the Philippines
the minimum wage is like
75 so $2.50 an hour is more than enough
for these people they're super thankful
I remember this guy dude I'm an
18-year-old kid and this guy is telling
me I I'm not 18 anymore but at the time
I was and he was telling me like dude
thank you for paying me I can take my
family out to lunch after church like
thank you so much and so they're
actually blessed with a couple hundred
dollars a month because it goes a lot
longer way here than it would here in
the US so hire virtual assistant it's
worth the $2 to $300 a month honestly
that's the only employee I would get up
until like 20 or 30k a month you really
don't need anyone to clean your couches
or to whatever you can do all the moving
yourself that brings me into the ninth
tip and lesson that I learned is dollies
dollies dollies dollies dollies you
can't have enough of these dollies man
I'm telling you I would I would ride
them around I would sit on them I would
stack couches up on them right and I
I'll get into that in a second I would
have one one or two in my car always so
I could always move a couch by myself I
never had any help I didn't split my
profit with any business partner I was
able to do it myself because I had
plenty of dollies and I was I learned
how to use them by myself to get couches
out of homes dude the homeowners half
the time wouldn't even help me cuz
they're just like the wife like
stay-at-home wife and they're selling
the couch uh cuz they have a new one
coming in or someone has a bad back or
like old man and so you want to be able
to move couches by yourself dollies
you're going to be moving them around
your storage unit in and out all day so
dollies are super important what I did
you don't want these crap dollies with
the little plastic Wheels I went on
Facebook Marketplace and I bought 15
dollies for
$120 that's less than $10 a dolly and
these were like the Big Kahuna dollies
they had these massive rubber wheels and
honestly I don't I don't know if
anyone's ever going to get a deal like
that again again but that completely
changed the game for me so the last
lesson is to store your couches upright
and I'll show you a video here of what I
mean by that but by doing that you can
save so much more space you can
literally roll couches around and trust
me I've had couches like fall on me
while I'm working so be careful but if
you store couches upright on dollies or
even if you just like lay down a plastic
sheet and store them U right you can
maximize your space rather having a
stack of couches on top of each other
like this you can fit four five or six
couches in a small storage unit in my
warehouse I would hold up to 15 20
couches at one time and it was like
completely full of couches I had
everything stacked up and whatever but
it worked for me and it saved me a ton
of time and space so those are my 10
lessons that I learned from getting to
over
$100,000 in used couches sales now I
know that's kind of a lot a lot of
information to take in but what I would
recommend to you is just get started
couch flipping it's the best side hustle
anyone can do right now it's super easy
you don't need a lot of resources you
don't need a lot of startup and it's
super cheap you can take failures you
can learn you can grow so I would
recommend anybody right now get into
couch flipping it's only going to get
more popular only more people are going
to do it so the best time to start
something is 10 years ago the next best
time is right now again my name is
danielowski you can find me on Instagram
ouch flip Dan if you want to learn more
feel free to shoot me a DM and
eventually in the future I'm going to be
releasing a community that we can all
get together where I can mentor you guys
and it's going to be awesome but for the
time being I just want to provide value
and help you guys get started flipping
couches so go find me on Instagram and
I'll see you guys in the next video
