Q & A
What is Google Discover and how does it provide traffic to websites?
-Google Discover is a personalized content feed that shows users news, articles, web stories, and videos based on their browsing history and profile. It is available on mobile devices in the Google app and Chrome browser, and is soon to be available on desktop. The traffic comes from users clicking on content in the feed, which can significantly increase visibility and traffic to websites that appear there.
How can I ensure my website gets featured in Google Discover?
-To get featured in Google Discover, you need to follow certain best practices such as using high-quality images that are at least 1200 pixels wide, setting the max image preview robots meta tag to 'large', using the website's logo appropriately, ensuring the meta title matches the content, avoiding exaggeration in titles and descriptions, and creating content that is either trendy or unique.
What is the significance of the 'max-image-preview' robots meta tag in relation to Google Discover?
-The 'max-image-preview' robots meta tag is crucial for Google Discover because it determines how Google can display your images in search results and the Discover feed. Setting it to 'large' allows Google to use a large, full-width image, making your webpage more visible and clickable in the feed.
Why should I avoid using my website's logo excessively in social media sharing cards?
-Excessive use of the website's logo in social media sharing cards can reduce the chances of your content being clicked on in the Discover feed. Google aims to make the feed exciting and click-worthy, and using the logo excessively can lower the perceived quality of the feed, making it less likely for users to engage with your content.
How important is the meta title in getting traffic from Google Discover?
-The meta title is very important as it is often used in the Discover feed. It should accurately match the content of the page to encourage clicks. If the title is misleading or doesn't match the content, users may not be satisfied with the page, leading to higher bounce rates.
What role does the content's relevance to current trends play in appearing on Google Discover?
-Content that is relevant to current trends or provides unique information is more likely to appear on Google Discover. Users browsing the feed are not typically searching for a specific topic but are more likely to click on interesting or trending content.
Why is having an RSS feed enabled beneficial for appearing in Google Discover?
-An enabled RSS feed is beneficial because it allows Googlebot to easily access and index new content from your website. This regular updating increases the chances of your content being fresh and relevant, which can help it appear in the Discover feed.
What should I do if my website's RSS feed is not showing up in Google Discover?
-If your RSS feed is not showing up, ensure that it is enabled and not blocked by robots.txt. Also, verify that the feed URLs are not being cached by a caching plugin, and that the feed includes proper title and link elements.
How can I ensure that my content adheres to Google's policies for appearing in Discover?
-To adhere to Google's policies, ensure that your content is free from vulgarity, hate speech, extremism, scams, dangerous content, and harassment. Additionally, clearly disclose sponsored content and provide clear information about the author, publisher, and website.
Why is it important to provide clear information about the author, publisher, and website on my webpage?
-Providing clear information about the author, publisher, and website adds credibility and transparency to your content. It helps users understand the source of the information and can increase trust, which may lead to higher engagement and visibility in Google Discover.
What should I do to make sure my contact information is accessible to users and advertisers on my website?
-Ensure that your contact information is up-to-date and prominently displayed on a 'Contact Us' page. Include this page in your primary menu and footer so that anyone who wants to get in touch with your organization can easily find the necessary details.

Transcripts
Google Discover was only available on mobile and it used to
give a lot of traffic Now it's going to be available on
desktop
You can imagine how much traffic it's going to give
If Google search results give us a lot of traffic then
Google Discover gives us a lot of traffic
But how do we get into Google Discover?
And if we do, how do we get rid of it?
Well, I have the answer to this riddle
In fact, there are two answers
You have two options
Either you keep guessing or watch this video till the end
and learn the secrets of getting into Google Discover
Otherwise, your competitors will cut traffic from both
mobile and desktop
And you think, I'll start the video till then Hello
everyone, I'm Amit Tiwari from amittiwari.net
And in today's video, we are covering Google Discover
completely
From top to bottom
Now, I think I don't need to give an introduction to Google
Discover
But let's show the new SEOs in a couple of lines Google
Discover is a long feed
It's a personalized feed
In which the user is shown news, articles, web stories and
videos on the basis of their favorite history and profile
This feed is shown in Android phones in Google app
It's shown in Chrome
And it's shown in the first screen of the home screen
The minus one screen
Go to the home page And if you swipe left after this then
it's shown in some phones
This feed is shown in iPhones in Google app
And it's also shown in Chrome browser
After a few days, you'll be able to see this feed on Chrome
browser in desktop
And the traffic coming from this feed will also increase a
lot
So let's see what all should be done to come to Google
Discover
Now, you know that we don't leave any topic on this channel
at a cheap price
We cover it in full detail
That's why there are a total of 15 points which you have to
cover on your web page and website But if you do it, then
no one can stop you from coming to Discover
Let's look at the points one by one
Number 1
Your web page should have high-quality, good images whose
width should be more than 1200 pixels
There is no Google guideline for height
But obviously, if there is a correct and useful image of
1200 pixels then the height will also be fine
Neither will you put a ribbon like this nor will you make a
tower on your web page
But what do I mean by high-quality image?
The image should not be blurred or pixelated It should not
be in low light
There should be no noise like this
It should be properly lit
It should match with the content
It shouldn't be that the content is something else
The image is telling the story of someone else
There shouldn't be images like this
And after this, you have to see that the width of the image
should be at least 1200 pixels
It's okay if it's more than 1200 pixels but it should be at
least 1200 pixels
Number 2
The max image preview robots meta tag on the web page
should be set to large
Don't get confused by the name robots meta tag
The no-index you put on the page is also a type of robots
meta tag No-follow is also a type of robots meta tag
This is the code
You might remember it by looking at it
Similarly, the max image preview is also a type of robots
meta tag which has three options
None, standard, and large
If you select none then Google won't show your image in the
preview
Many people use this setting so that Google doesn't pick up
the image from your website and start showing it directly
on the search results page
And more than the search results page the effect is that
Google doesn't show your image on position 0 in rich
results like this
Now, the second option after this is standard
If you use standard then Google can use a small image But
if you set it to large then only Google will be able to use
a large full-width image in the Google Discover feed and
your web page will be visible in the feed
Because if you go to the Google Discover feed then you will
see that the biggest element is the thumbnail of that page
If Google doesn't have the permission to use that thumbnail
in a large size then your page will never be visible in the
Google Discover feed If you want to check what is the
setting on your page then right click on your page and
select view page source and in the source page press CTRL F
or CMD F and search max-image-preview and search
max-image-preview
If you see any line like this then it means that this code
is set on your page robots meta tag is being used and if
you don't see any line then it means that you have to use
max-image-preview you have to use and setup but if you see
this line then also you have to check what is written in
front of the column none, standard or large if it is
written large then you don't have to do anything you can
skip this point but if it is written none or standard then
you have to change this setting Now how
change this setting it depends on the platform of your
website
If you are using a WordPress website then you can go to
your SEO plugin and change this setting you don't have to
change anything this plugin will automatically change this
setting to large if you are using RankMath then you can use
this process you just have to click here and your setting
will change
All-in-one SEO plugin for users screenshot of this setting
is showing on your screen if your website is on any other
platform or is a custom coded website then talk to your
developer and tell them that all the pages that you want to
show in your website this line in the header is compulsory
Third point is the right use of logo you stop using your
website's logo your company's logo on your website as a
social media sharing card or as a normal image keep your
website's logo sacred and use it if you are using it
everywhere in the graphic then you can use it as a small
element but if you are making your website's social sharing
cards instead of a normal image or a feature image if you
are using the logo then you should stop using it instead of
your website's graphic use the logo in a
size this is also a wrong idea and also in footer, sidebar,
content of the page, don't use the logo use the logo only
on the header use it as a small element on the graphics and
don't use the logo in social media sharing cards this will
reduce the chances of you losing your content the reason
for this is that
Google wants to make discover feed exciting and click
worthy in which the user can see the image get excited and
click on it and read the content so if you are using the
logo in a big size and the logo is being displayed on the
discover feed then the quality of the feed will be down
that's why Google recommends that you don't use the logo
fourth point is meta title the title of your page should
match with the content of your page this title is mostly
used in the discover feed and if it is not
then the user won't click and if after clicking the user
understands that there was something else in the title but
there is no such thing in the content then the user won't
be satisfied with the page that's why match the title of
your page fifth point is exaggeration don't bring too much
sensationalism in your title, description and thumbnail
this is true that in the discover feed if you keep it click
bait style then the CTR increases and more views come but
this works like salt in the dal if
put dal in salt then people will run away the title, meta
description and thumbnail of your page don't claim too much
don't make it sensational don't cheat for views if you keep
it more accurate then it will be more correct be creative
the creativity in SEO comes here you won't be click bait,
you won't exaggerate you won't claim too much but still you
can make your title interesting if you think creatively
then you will understand next is content either make the
content on the latest trend or
some unique information in your content discover is a feed
in which the user is crawling like an insta feed he is not
searching for any specific topic he is not looking for any
specific point if the user will see something interesting
and knowledgeable then only he can click on it or if he
sees something which is in trend then also he can click on
it like Big Boss has just started or you can write a piece
on Big Boss and give the title the past of BB contestants
that you don't know then this
get a place in the discover feed and this will work because
people can click more on this or you can write an article
or you can make a video in which you can give details about
Big Boss house that how this house operates like we all
just look at the camera view but the 10-12 people who live
inside how many people arrange their food and drink where
does all this come from, where is this set how is it
managed this type of content can come in the discover feed
overall keep it interesting and
or whatever latest trend is going on make content on it and
you will come in the discover 7th point is RSS feed
RSS feed should be there and it should be enabled in
wordpress websites or in bloggers by default RSS feed or
atom speed is there and it is enabled we did a video in
wordpress websites about how to block RSS feed but it was
only for business websites which don't want to come in the
discover in fact I said in that video that if you need RSS
feed and you are using it then don't disable it so to come
in the discover feed it is necessary to enable the RSS feed
function now this is an issue that all
RSS feed
URLs, Google does crawl but doesn't index because the
content in the RSS feed is of the same page, that's why
Google doesn't index it again, there is no need to index
the page, that's enough so in your search console, all the
currently not indexed or discovered currently not indexed
section of the URL, the feed URLs that are visible, you
have to ignore them there will be no loss every single
message, every single thing is not an issue that needs to
be solved some things you can ignore next
is to block RSS feed You don't have to block or disallow
your RSS feed URL from robots.txt.
Because if you block or disallow feed URLs from robots.txt,
then Googlebot won't be able to visit it.
Disallow means disallow, not allowed.
If it won't be able to visit, then it won't be able to read
the content.
And if it won't be able to read the content, then what will
it show in the feed?
Also, keep the feed updated.
Make sure that your caching plugin, which increases the
performance, is not caching the feed URLs.
Next point is, you should have a feature to follow RSS feed
or Atom feed on your page.
The feature to follow RSS feed or Atom feed on your page
should be available on your page.
It looks like this.
Visit your page and see if there is a feature to follow on
your page and if there is an option for RSS feed or Atom
feed or not.
This feature allows users and bots to update your page
without visiting it.
Googlebot uses this feature and shows the content of your
site in the Discover feed.
This is why it is important to use this feature.
If this feature is not available on your website, then
WordPress and other themes have a lot of plugins that can
be added.
Use the free plugins.
Next point is, there should be a title and link element in
the RSS feed.
Open any feed URL on your website and check if the title
and link element is visible or not.
You can see it here in the screenshot.
In the Google Discover feed, the title and link element is
visible.
The link element is important because whenever a user
clicks on your Discover feed thumbnail,
Google cannot show them the feed URL.
They have to show the URL of the real page.
If the link element is not visible in the feed URL, then it
can be a problem for Google.
Check the RSS feed URL.
This issue does not occur in most websites.
But it is important to verify it.
Only then your page will be visible in Google Discover.
Next point is, there should be Google policies in the
content.
I don't have to say this.
But still, keep Google policies in the content of your page.
If there is vulgarity, hateful, extremist, scammy,
dangerous, and harassment in the content, then Google will
not allow your pages to appear in Discover.
Most of these issues are such that you need to fear the
police more than Google.
Next point is to give disclosure of ad disclosure or
sponsored content.
You should mark all the sponsored content on your page
separately.
So that users can understand at a glance that this
particular content is available on your website because
someone has sponsored it.
Sponsorship is not a bad thing.
But you just have to tell your page's visitor clearly.
So that users can differentiate between sponsored and
organic content.
Similarly, all the links on your page, if they are
sponsored, then it is important to give them a sponsored
attribute.
We have already done a lot of videos on this.
If you want to come to Google Discover, then it will not
work by just marking this type of link as nofollow.
You should use the sponsored tag.
So that Google Discover can recognize your sponsored link
properly.
Next point is related to political content.
If your website is affiliated with a political party or the
content of your website is in favor of a political party,
then you should clearly mention in the content of your page
that you are a member of this particular party or
affiliated with it.
That's why your content is being written related to them.
Next part is to inform the user about your website.
You should give clear information about the author,
publisher and website of that content on your page.
Who is writing the content of a page? Who is that author?
There should be clear information about this.
It is important to have the profile of that author there.
If we add the social media links of that author together,
then there is a lot of benefit.
Apart from this, who is the publisher?
Who is publishing this content?
If that publisher is your website, then you can give
details about that publisher.
And the last is the information about the website.
There should be detailed information about the website's
about us, contact us, etc.
Last but a very important point is contact information.
Whoever is publishing or running your website, after all, a
website is an organization.
And how can any reader, viewer or advertiser contact that
organization?
You should publish the updated contact information of your
website on the contact us page.
And you should keep that contact us page in your primary
menu and footer.
So that whenever anyone wants to contact your website, they
can clearly see that information as soon as possible.
So these were all the points that can help in bringing your
website, your webpages into the Google Discover feed.
If you follow these 15 points to the point, then there is
no doubt that Google Discover will start showing your
website and pages.
Google does not give any such guarantee in its documents or
policies.
But thousands and millions of websites are added to the
Google Discover feed per day.
And if you follow these 15 points,
then your website can also be one of those millions of
websites.
Your content is good.
We have covered the technical issues.
Now you can come to the Google Discover feed and publish.
Thank you so much for watching this video.
My name is Amit Tiwari from itiwari.net.
And I will see you next time.
Take care.
