Photoshop will determine the distance to auto-connect the loop and fill it in,

making the Remove tool more efficient and faster to use.

In this video, I will show you the top

seven new features in Adobe Photoshop 2024.

Make sure you like and subscribe if you learn something new.

When you're going to Filter and choose Camera Raw, you will see a new panel

called Lens Blur, which allows you to apply a realistic optical blur and bokeh

to your photo by clicking on the Apply box.

You can then use the Blur Amount slider to increase the blur and

choose the type of bokeh Photoshop applies by clicking on these options.

And you can use the boost slider to control the bokeh effects intensity.

By default, Photoshop automatically sets

the Focal Range using AI-powered subject detection.

This is what this icon indicates.

But you can manually set the Focal Range

by enabling this button and clicking or dragging over the photo.

The Focal Range box adjusts the range of areas that are in focus.

Make the box wider to have more areas in

focus and make it thinner to blur more areas.

The Focal Range box

shows yellow to blue colors indicating the near and far Focal Ranges.

To see this representation over your image, click the Visualize Depth box.

This is the synthetic depth map Photoshop created.

It uses this 3D depth estimation to apply the lens blur.

Anything in yellow and warm is close to

you, and anything blue or cool is reserved for things that are further away.

When you adjust the Focal Range in this mode, a white overlay will appear

indicating the areas that are currently in focus.

If you need to adjust the Depth Map, click Refine to expand the Focus and Blur tools.

These brushes allow you to blur an area or bring them back into focus.

So far, we looked at two new features in Photoshop 2024.

That is version 25.0. But I wanted to share with you one feature available to

you now in the Photoshop beta, which is currently version 25.2.

You can install it from your Creator Cloud app under Beta apps.

When you go into Filter, Parametric

Filters, you will see a list of new incredible filters in Photoshop 2024.

They include Oil Painting, Glitch, and Scratch Photo.

These filters have an incredible set of

options for total control and customization.

I recommend going through the presets of

each filter first to get a better idea of what they do.

Then use the corresponding controls to fine-tune the results.

Once you apply a filter, Photoshop will

duplicate the selected layer and apply the parametric filter as a Smart Filter.

If there's already a Parametric Filter

applied, then Photoshop will replace it with the newly selected one.

But you can stack multiple

Parametric Filters by holding the Alt key as you click on a filter.

These Parametric Filters use similar

technology to the Substance materials released last year in Photoshop 2023.

When you go into Window, Materials, you

will see the substance materials in this panel.

They have similar controls to the Parametric Filters.

When you apply one, you will see that it

also creates a Parametric Filter, Smart Object layer.

The Contextual Taskbar has new features and behaviors.

First, the Pin Bar Precision option now works even after you restart Photoshop.

You no longer will need to reapply the pin.

Also, you will see new buttons and options when masking and cropping, including the

Generative Expand feature, which we will look at in a moment.

Photoshop 2024 is the first version of Photoshop where the Generative AI

technology is out of beta and available for commercial use.

The Generated Fill allows you to create a selection over your image and use the text

prompt in over 100 languages to fill in the area.

Photoshop will automatically recognize the content of your image and it will attempt

to match the lighting, perspective, and depth of your scene.

The results are placed in this new Generative Fill layer.

Notice the icon on the bottom right of the thumbnail.

From the Properties panel, you can click

on the Variations to see which of the three gives you the best results.

If you like, from here, you can type a new

prompt and generate something completely different.

The Generative Fill layer keeps all Variations.

When you select one, you will see the

prompt you use to generate that specific piece of content.

Best of all, the Generative Fill works on

all types of images, including illustrations and drawings.

Another incredible Generative AI feature

in Adobe Photoshop 2024 is the Generative Expand.

From the toolbar, click on the Crop tool.

Then in the Options part, choose Generative Expand from the drop-down.

Now, whenever you use the Crop tool and

change the aspect ratio of a photo, like going from vertical to wide screen,

Photoshop will use artificial intelligence to fill the transparent areas.

The results are mind-blowing.

It's incredible how fast and accurate the generations are.

Just to compare, here's the same image but using the old Content-Aware Fill.

The differences are night and day.

There is no comparison.

Photoshop 2024 will automatically add content credentials to

the metadata and images you generate using Generative Fill and Generative Expand.

This is to help prevent the spread of

misinformation online and to provide transparency on who created an image.

To control what information will be

shared, you can go into Window, Content Credentials.

From this panel, click on the blue Enable Content Credentials button.

This is the information that will be shared.

You have to include Generative AI information, but you can disable other

things like social media or the edits you made.

To see how all this information will be

displayed, you can click on the Preview button.

This window shows the Content Credentials for this image.

Also, if you would like to see the Content Credentials of any file, you can

go into contentcredentials.org/verify, then upload any photo.

On the right side, you will see all the

Content Credentials metadata this file contains.

This next one is not a new Photoshop

feature, but is something you should definitely know.

Generating content with AI models requires

tremendous computational resources, which makes it impossible for Adobe or any

other company to run GenAI tech for free or without limitations.

To help alleviate the computational

resource issue, starting November first, 2023, Adobe will have a monthly allocation

of credits that provide priority processing.

In other words, you will get a number of

monthly generated credits based on your subscription.

For example, an all app Creative Cloud subscription will receive 1,000 monthly

credits that allow you to generate images without any limitations.

The credits will be shared between

all Adobe apps and services that utilize Generative AI.

When you run out of credits, the

Generative AI features will still work, but they will run slower.

How much slower? I don't know.

At the time of this recording, Adobe has not released that information.

We'll just have to wait and see.

However, they did mention that you can purchase additional priority generative

credits through a new subscription plan starting at 4.99 for 100 credits.

I have been keeping track of how much content I generate per month, and it's

usually far below the 1,000 credits, so at least for me, this shouldn't be an issue.

Let me know if you think you will need more than 1,000 credits per month, or if

you don't mind the slower generations once you run out of credits.
