day's top stories, and we do

play00:03

want to begin here with

play00:04

this breaking news. out of

play00:06

the Middle East as we're

play00:07

learning that 3 US service

play00:08

members have been killed

play00:10

in 25 others injured. in

play00:12

a drone attack targeting a

play00:13

base in Jordan a massive

play00:15

escalation. in the Middle

play00:17

East as Trey yingst

play00:19

reports here. We want to

play00:19

bring in retired Marine

play00:22

intelligence officer

play00:22

National Security expert

play00:24

Hal Kemper who always is

play00:25

so gracious. and is willing

play00:27

to join us during these

play00:28

breaking news situations

play00:29

all of these big stories,

play00:30

So how thank you so much

play00:31

for being here. Well,

play00:33

thank you, Lexi. Obviously,

play00:34

this is uh some tragic

play00:36

news that we are getting

play00:37

in this weekend of the 3

play00:38

US service members who have

play00:39

been killed. 25 others who

play00:41

have been injured and held

play00:42

I believe this is the first

play00:44

set of US troops who have

play00:45

been killed in the Middle

play00:46

East. since the start of the

play00:47

Israel Hamas War. Lexi

play00:51

is is near as I was

play00:51

checking this morning when

play00:52

I got the news. and I can't

play00:54

find another. instance

play00:56

where US troops are actually

play00:57

killed. injured is another

play00:58

story. Although I I'm

play01:00

getting a sense that the

play01:01

injuries that were

play01:02

suffered which are rather

play01:03

extensive. 25 injured on

play01:05

top of the 3 killed. um

play01:07

that those were uh, uh,

play01:09

probably very serious

play01:10

injuries Apparently a drone

play01:11

got in and got right in the

play01:14

midst of 1 of our troop

play01:15

concentrations. and uh and

play01:18

have obviously has has

play01:19

caused a great deal of of

play01:20

of damage. uh, not to

play01:22

mention death and suffering.

play01:24

uh that goes with that

play01:25

This is the first time

play01:26

we've seen something like

play01:27

this We've seen a number

play01:28

of these drone attacks.

play01:30

in the area. Uh, we

play01:32

certainly saw them in uh,

play01:33

Iraq and we've responded to

play01:35

those Syria we responded to

play01:37

those of course. uh, they've

play01:39

attempted to attack our

play01:41

warships. in the Red Sea and

play01:44

the Sea of Aiden uh, and

play01:46

we've responded to those but

play01:49

this is the first time.

play01:50

that we've seen. an Iran

play01:52

Well, it's an Iranian

play01:54

militia group. Uh attack

play01:56

US troops in Jordan and

play01:59

this is a big shift because

play02:00

up to this point. there

play02:02

have been no attacks on

play02:05

Jordanian. uh Sovereign

play02:06

territory. and uh, I'm I'm

play02:09

wondering how the Jordanian

play02:12

uh, uh how the king and how

play02:14

the Jordanian military is

play02:16

going to respond. to this

play02:17

incursion on uh in the

play02:19

into their Sovereign

play02:20

territory. Well, we've seen

play02:22

all of these, uh visits

play02:23

too on behalf of the Biden

play02:25

Administration. blinken

play02:27

making a couple of trips

play02:27

to meet with leaders

play02:28

in the Middle East and and

play02:30

to see things escalate to

play02:31

this point. how I think the

play02:33

big question for everybody

play02:34

is what does this mean

play02:35

for? us in the United

play02:36

States? We keep hearing

play02:38

that they've been trying

play02:39

to drag us into this war

play02:40

between Israel and Hamas and

play02:42

we really have been

play02:44

trying to to support Israel

play02:45

as an ally but obviously

play02:47

don't want this to

play02:48

escalate even further.

play02:49

that's been the point of

play02:50

a lot of these visits from

play02:52

leaders here in the US

play02:52

going to the Middle East.

play02:54

So what does that mean

play02:55

for us? Are we now fully

play02:57

brought in? well it it

play02:59

doesn't Force us to be quote

play03:01

fully brought in. uh further

play03:03

than what we are. Uh, but

play03:04

what it will do is uh

play03:06

this cannot we we can't

play03:08

have something like this

play03:09

happen and not respond to

play03:10

it. So uh, expect that

play03:12

there's going to be a uh,

play03:14

there should be a

play03:15

significant. response. Uh,

play03:19

heading positions, uh

play03:20

everywhere with the

play03:20

connected to this group.

play03:22

and probably uh any

play03:24

Iranian. uh, forces uh,

play03:28

irgc allowed. uh

play03:30

Representatives, uh

play03:31

connected to this group

play03:32

as well. Uh, I I'm I don't

play03:34

know what we're going to

play03:35

do. I mean, this is this

play03:37

is a threshold you know

play03:40

US troops have been killed.

play03:41

Not not just you know, um,

play03:44

uh mild TBI, uh injuries

play03:47

from uh, uh, explosive shock

play03:49

waves, but this is this

play03:50

is very different. and

play03:53

this also has hit a troop

play03:55

concentration. in a country

play03:57

we've normally considered

play03:58

something of A Safe haven.

play04:00

Uh We've operated in and

play04:01

out Jordan for a very long

play04:03

time. Uh, we have a a

play04:04

tremendous relationship

play04:06

with Jordan. and uh this

play04:09

is really changed. uh the

play04:10

math in terms of where

play04:11

troops are in the region.

play04:13

It's a very very

play04:15

provocative move by Iran.

play04:16

to allow this or to order

play04:19

something like this to

play04:19

happen, depending on what

play04:21

exactly occurred and now

play04:23

they have brought. Jordan.

play04:25

into this larger conflict

play04:27

and that is I mean, I'm not

play04:29

going to say it's like

play04:30

dominoes, Uh, but you do

play04:32

look around. the uh the

play04:34

Middle East and this is a

play04:35

significant shift. I mean

play04:37

you have you have brought

play04:38

in Jordan which

play04:39

geographically sits in a

play04:41

very key. strategic

play04:43

location? uh, it's no

play04:45

longer, you know. Syria. Uh,

play04:47

I think most would agree is

play04:49

a a rather failed State.

play04:51

It's a somewhat Lawless

play04:52

territory. uh Iraq uh,

play04:56

you know, it has a lot of

play04:57

internal issues that

play04:58

they're working on. It does

play04:59

have a government in

play05:00

place, but these militias

play05:02

do control uh significant

play05:04

swaths of land. uh in

play05:06

Iraq. and yes, we have a

play05:08

presence there, but we

play05:09

have a very different Force

play05:11

protection posture. and

play05:13

some of these places that

play05:13

we do in uh, Jordan

play05:15

Jordan is considered a

play05:16

place that normally much

play05:17

safer for US troops to

play05:19

operate. uh kind of a

play05:22

you know, the the

play05:23

quintessential rear area

play05:24

if you will within the

play05:24

Middle East not not like

play05:26

going into Syria or

play05:26

something like that. And so

play05:28

this is shifted. Uh how

play05:31

we're looking at and and

play05:32

whereas we're going to see.

play05:34

a dramatic increase in our

play05:36

Force protection posture.

play05:37

uh, wherever we are. in

play05:38

Jordan, that's gonna that's

play05:40

going to go around the

play05:42

Middle East and even uh

play05:43

further out. It's going to

play05:44

go to uh, wherever our

play05:46

forces are. certainly

play05:47

throughout the Persian Gulf.

play05:49

uh, Djibouti on the Red

play05:51

Sea, which is probably

play05:52

already at

play05:53

a pretty heightened alert

play05:53

status as it is. But it's

play05:55

going to really shift where

play05:58

US forces are in terms of.

play05:59

how they view the Potential

play06:00

Threat that that they're

play06:02

looking at And uh, I I I

play06:04

think this is going to be

play06:05

1 of those moments where

play06:06

we're going to use as a

play06:07

benchmark. of uh, where the

play06:09

US was. militarily. uh

play06:12

in the Middle East and so

play06:13

with at least with this

play06:14

conflict. Yeah, and I guess I

play06:16

want to ask you going off

play06:17

of that a couple of things

play06:17

that you said stood out

play06:19

there but mainly how is

play06:21

this going to do you

play06:22

think? really change

play06:24

operations in the Middle

play06:24

East like you said this

play06:25

is going to be a moment

play06:26

That won't be forgotten.

play06:27

of course, but how do you

play06:29

think that could impact

play06:30

things you know in the

play06:31

next? several weeks several

play06:33

months and Beyond? well, I I

play06:36

look at it 2 different

play06:36

levels, Uh 1 is the

play06:38

Tactical level. I can tell

play06:39

you for troops. uh anywhere

play06:41

in the Middle East now.

play06:43

uh, there's going to be a a

play06:44

much more. Um, it's it's

play06:47

what we call a uh, uh

play06:50

atfp any terrorism Force

play06:51

protection. Uh, but the uh,

play06:53

I'm not sure what status

play06:54

they were within Jordan

play06:56

but uh, I have a feeling

play06:57

that we're going to a much

play06:59

higher status across the

play07:00

board. We may end up, uh

play07:02

doing something. um,

play07:04

you know bilaterally with

play07:05

Jordan and also with other

play07:07

nations, to improve, uh

play07:10

air defense capabilities. uh,

play07:11

we may change some of the

play07:13

Rules of engagement on how

play07:14

we can use those

play07:15

air defense capabilities. uh,

play07:17

you know over their

play07:19

Sovereign territory. Uh,

play07:21

there's a lot of things that

play07:22

can be happen on the

play07:22

Tactical level. uh in

play07:24

that regard. on the more

play07:25

operational level. It's

play07:26

going to make us uh, uh,

play07:28

it's going to go into the

play07:30

planning side. of how we

play07:32

move forces in and out of

play07:34

the Middle East and where

play07:35

we put those forces in the

play07:36

Middle East. and that's

play07:39

something I I could only

play07:40

speculate on. but I can

play07:42

tell you right now that uh,

play07:44

you know, as we're sitting

play07:45

here. I know there's

play07:47

operational planning teams

play07:49

and Joint planning groups,

play07:50

you know. uh, in in the

play07:52

Middle East uh, and going

play07:54

up through Tampa.

play07:56

us Central Command. Probably

play08:00

up in Stuart. Uh or up

play08:02

in Germany with the um

play08:03

with Africa command. and

play08:04

uh and probably NATO

play08:06

as well. and and certainly

play08:08

Washington DC. all working

play08:10

on this issue, which is

play08:12

what's the proper response.

play08:14

uh both defensively and

play08:16

offensively. to what just

play08:18

happened and they're all

play08:19

weighing different courses

play08:20

of action or developing

play08:22

different courses of action.

play08:23

they're doing um, you know,

play08:25

my my uh history is as

play08:27

an intelligence officer.

play08:28

we would get tasks with uh,

play08:31

a fairly significant Deep

play08:32

dive if you will. looking

play08:33

at everything that's out

play08:35

there. Uh, building a a an

play08:38

array of possible targets

play08:39

for for a response. a lot of

play08:42

different things so and and

play08:44

then I I would be remiss

play08:45

if I didn't say there's

play08:47

another side which is the

play08:48

Diplomatic side. and there's

play08:50

the over diplomatic side

play08:52

and the less over

play08:53

diplomatic side And uh,

play08:54

whereas we don't have

play08:55

official. you know, we don't

play08:57

have a diplomatic presence.

play08:58

uh in Tyron. we have

play09:01

ways of communicating with

play09:03

Iran and I think that right

play09:05

now the Iranians are

play09:06

probably going to be

play09:07

getting some very very

play09:08

direct Communications. uh

play09:10

from the US some very

play09:11

direct Communications from

play09:13

Jordan. is my guess. Uh,

play09:16

and and I wouldn't be

play09:17

surprised to see other

play09:18

countries in the Middle

play09:19

East Saudi Arabia and

play09:20

others. uh expressing. Um,

play09:23

their strong concerns about

play09:25

this they'll be overt.

play09:26

things said, but then

play09:28

they'll also be things

play09:29

that are said more

play09:30

directly that are not

play09:31

overt. and I imagine that

play09:33

not overt stuff's going to

play09:34

be. uh, uh some pretty

play09:36

tough discussion with the

play09:38

Iranians and they've already

play09:39

had some tough discussions.

play09:40

So um, there's going to be

play09:42

some options on the table.

play09:43

Yeah, and when it comes to

play09:45

the response we heard from

play09:46

President Biden who put out a

play09:47

statement just a little bit

play09:48

ago this morning and we'll

play09:50

show viewers that again

play09:51

here in just a moment, but

play09:53

he has of course said that

play09:54

he's vowing to hold those

play09:55

responsible. for this

play09:57

attack that that this is

play09:58

not going to be taken

play09:59

lightly. Of course, we're

play10:00

going to respond so when

play10:02

it comes to the response

play10:03

hell and as things are

play10:04

being done behind the

play10:04

scenes right now working to

play10:06

figure out what what the

play10:07

US does from here. What

play10:09

does that scale of

play10:10

response look like really?

play10:12

right now that's what

play10:14

there's a there's probably a

play10:15

Planning Group in

play10:16

Washington DC. That's

play10:18

LinkedIn with every other

play10:19

Planning Group, but every

play10:20

other level and they're going

play10:21

through what can we do and

play10:23

what would be proper and

play10:24

and of course the most

play10:25

important 1 is what the

play10:26

White House? is going to

play10:28

direct to be done. and

play10:30

they're going to be looking

play10:30

at a variety of options It

play10:32

could be you know, we've

play10:34

seen where we've we've hit

play10:36

like a few. locations of

play10:38

the enemy militias. and uh,

play10:41

or and we've actually hit

play10:42

uh, irgc or Iranian. uh

play10:46

advisors, uh, Iranian Supply

play10:48

do things like that. Uh,

play10:51

in Syria, and it comes to

play10:53

mind specifically but we've

play10:54

also hit places in Iraq.

play10:56

Uh, these are all things

play10:58

that they'll be looking at.

play10:59

Of course you could go

play11:01

the other other end of the

play11:02

spectrum we could make a

play11:03

very very strong

play11:04

statement. Uh, you saw what

play11:07

the US did uh in Yemen.

play11:09

we we we crossed the

play11:11

threshold in terms of what

play11:12

the houthis were doing. and

play11:14

we launched a massive.

play11:17

attack. in concert with the

play11:19

United Kingdom. and uh,

play11:21

I think there was over a

play11:23

hundred different targets.

play11:24

Uh, or 100 or 100 different

play11:26

missions. I should say. uh

play11:28

on a a large array of

play11:29

targets, uh throughout

play11:30

Yemen. that were hit in

play11:32

the first 1 and we've been

play11:33

hitting them ever since.

play11:38

and so that is obviously

play11:39

something that will be

play11:39

discussed. uh, whether they

play11:40

choose to to go with

play11:41

something on a larger scale

play11:42

like that. That's uh,

play11:44

that's not just a military

play11:46

discussion. That's also

play11:47

very much a diplomatic

play11:49

discussion. and it's uh

play11:51

very much a a, uh,

play11:53

International and National

play11:54

Security discussion, which

play11:55

is if we do that what

play11:58

will be the response? are

play11:59

we opening this? Uh are we

play12:01

open up? this more

play12:03

broadly? the other thing

play12:04

too? Um, it's beyond just

play12:07

you know, kinetics Beyond

play12:08

just dropping bombs on

play12:09

targets. We're also

play12:11

going to be looking at the

play12:12

the backer of this militia

play12:14

Group, which is Iran. and

play12:16

what? levers do we have?

play12:18

What? pressure can we

play12:19

impose on Iran? And the

play12:21

fact that they went after

play12:22

Jordan? um May open up a

play12:26

few more uh routes

play12:28

diplomatically. or

play12:30

multilaterally. that we can

play12:31

do things. uh to really

play12:34

uh put pressure on Iran.

play12:36

uh to back down and I

play12:37

think that's going to be

play12:38

something that they're

play12:39

exploring as well. and I I

play12:42

it does seem you know,

play12:43

certainly when you look at

play12:44

it with all these sanctions

play12:45

on Iran. uh that that

play12:48

exists I mean, it's easy

play12:50

for most to say what more

play12:51

can we do? Um, but but it's

play12:55

surprising there are

play12:55

a number of things out

play12:56

there that we can do. uh

play12:59

that could pressure Iran.

play13:00

into reconsidering its

play13:01

position. and I think we're

play13:03

going to take a hard look

play13:04

at doing something like

play13:04

that. sir, and and as we're

play13:07

working to get more

play13:08

information here how we're

play13:10

monitoring social media.

play13:10

and the United States

play13:12

Central Command has put out a

play13:13

statement. They've said

play13:14

that they're of course going

play13:15

to wait to release the

play13:16

names of the 3 service

play13:18

members who have been

play13:19

killed until 24 hours

play13:20

after. their next of kin

play13:21

have been notified

play13:22

Meanwhile, we also know

play13:24

25 others were injured in

play13:26

this attack. So when

play13:27

do you this we might get

play13:28

more information? on the

play13:29

details of this attack

play13:31

hell as well as the

play13:32

status of the 25 who were

play13:34

injured. Well, I think

play13:35

throughout the day this

play13:37

just recently. happened. So

play13:38

I think uh, maybe this

play13:40

afternoon. or tomorrow

play13:41

morning. Uh, we'll have uh

play13:43

much greater detail.

play13:45

in terms of what

play13:46

has occurred here. Uh, I

play13:48

think they'll give us

play13:50

more details on the actual

play13:50

attack itself. Uh, in

play13:53

respect to the families. Um,

play13:56

it's uh, it's DOD policy

play13:57

to withhold those names.

play13:59

until the families have

play14:01

been fully notified and

play14:02

have had a chance to uh,

play14:04

uh, assess what's going on.

play14:05

I mean, you know, that's

play14:06

1 Thing the military has

play14:07

been doing for a very long

play14:08

time. and uh and you know,

play14:11

we we you know, and I I say

play14:14

this kind of inclusively.

play14:14

uh, is that we understand

play14:17

the impact that this has

play14:19

and nobody wants to see

play14:21

you know, you know, it's a

play14:23

it's it's insult to

play14:24

injury or or you know

play14:26

aggravating what it's just

play14:27

happened if you will to

play14:28

to learn of something like

play14:29

this and then to suddenly

play14:31

see it on television. to

play14:32

hear their loved ones

play14:34

name out there eventually

play14:35

it will happen eventually.

play14:37

their name will be

play14:37

released. but they want to

play14:39

give the the families

play14:41

a chance to you know,

play14:42

obviously be notified but

play14:43

also a little chance to

play14:45

process. What's been

play14:47

happening before they put

play14:48

that out there and that's

play14:49

something that um that's

play14:50

something the Department of

play14:51

Defense has been doing for

play14:53

a long time. I've been at

play14:55

casualty assistance care

play14:55

officer. in my career. uh

play14:57

more than once. and I could

play14:59

tell you that there's just

play15:00

a lot of uh, a lot of

play15:02

things you have to be

play15:03

aware of when you're when

play15:04

you're notifying someone. a

play15:06

family uh of of an

play15:08

injury and of course the

play15:09

worst 1 is when you notify

play15:10

him of a of a uh, someone

play15:12

being killed. Yeah,

play15:13

of course, So tragic all

play15:15

around it and just

play15:16

interested to see if

play15:17

President Biden will be

play15:19

speaking again, maybe this

play15:20

evening on this or

play15:22

you know what we can

play15:23

expect in terms of the

play15:24

White House. response if

play15:25

we have to wait till

play15:25

tomorrow to hear from

play15:27

anybody speaking on this

play15:28

incident, I would hope it's

play15:29

sooner than that, but I

play15:31

guess we'll see you later

play15:31

today. Yep. We'll see you

play15:33

later today which way this

play15:35

goes and uh you know, I I

play15:38

will tell you I would not.

play15:39

that and this is just I I

play15:41

can't say for sure. But what

play15:43

I can say is I don't think

play15:45

we're going to wait long

play15:46

before we respond. Uh,

play15:49

it's daylight here. It's

play15:51

night over there. And if

play15:53

the assets are in place if

play15:55

the missions, uh the targets

play15:57

are assured. if we if we

play16:00

uh feel very if we're

play16:01

comfortable.

play16:02

then we're heading the right

play16:03

targets and we have the

play16:04

right means to do it. Uh, I

play16:06

would expect that

play16:07

we're going to respond.

play16:10

very soon and I expect

play16:11

it'll be a very

play16:12

strong response now. it

play16:13

won't be what you saw in

play16:15

Yemen. Uh, uh, with that

play16:17

first big wave and I would

play16:19

say that's probably because

play16:21

we don't have the array of

play16:24

uh of of aircraft and and

play16:26

and missiles that could

play16:28

allow us to do something

play16:29

like that, But I will say

play16:31

it will be something

play16:32

probably much stronger.

play16:34

than what we've seen with

play16:35

some of these other uh

play16:37

responses and and Iraq and

play16:38

Syria today, sure, and let's

play16:41

leave viewers. How with a

play16:43

live picture right now.

play16:44

This is out of Southern

play16:45

Israel looking into. Gaza.

play16:47

I guess I want to leave you

play16:47

with this question how

play16:49

even though we've kind of

play16:49

touched on it throughout

play16:50

our conversation here. How

play16:52

does this impact the war

play16:53

between Israel and Hamas

play16:54

moving forward the US now

play16:56

that 3 US service members

play16:58

have been killed here. I I

play17:01

think it will be a

play17:01

discussion that we'll be

play17:02

having with the Israelis.

play17:04

Uh, and you know because

play17:05

obviously this is a uh, uh,

play17:07

you know, an outcome of

play17:09

that. Uh, there's so much

play17:11

going on. uh in Gaza

play17:13

right now, uh, you know the

play17:14

news today is that uh, and

play17:17

and you can't you can't

play17:18

really say too much but the

play17:20

news is that it's very

play17:22

encouraging what they're

play17:23

saying about another

play17:24

potential. ceasefire. Could

play17:28

be I've seen 1 month I've

play17:28

seen them I've seen uh, 1

play17:30

proposals to be popping up

play17:31

over and over again. of

play17:32

uh going up to 4 months.

play17:34

Uh, our our interlocutors if

play17:36

you will. um cutter and

play17:39

Egypt have both uh

play17:40

expressed that they feel

play17:42

confident that things are

play17:43

moving along fast. So if

play17:45

that, happens if a ceasefire

play17:47

does go or a operational

play17:49

pause, goes into effect.

play17:52

uh, if we look at the

play17:53

last uh operational pause

play17:55

or temporary ceasefire,

play17:57

what that did was it it

play18:00

basically quieted things

play18:01

across the entire region.

play18:03

you know, we just didn't

play18:04

see a tax and coming out of

play18:06

Syria or Iraq we didn't

play18:07

see a tax coming out of

play18:08

Yemen. Uh that everybody

play18:11

respected that so that

play18:11

could be a big shift that

play18:12

takes place. this

play18:14

that takes more pressure

play18:15

towards that although I

play18:16

think we're going to want

play18:17

to kinetically respond to

play18:18

this particular. attack

play18:19

before anything else. uh

play18:22

occurs. uh, the other thing

play18:23

though is, uh, and this is

play18:25

kind of connected to it is

play18:26

that the international court

play18:28

of justice the icg icj

play18:30

ruling uh you know that

play18:32

was that the Hamas was

play18:34

certainly hoping that they

play18:36

would order. a a you know a

play18:39

permanent ceasefire or an

play18:41

immediate ceasefire. to

play18:42

take place. that didn't

play18:44

happen. In fact, the uh I

play18:47

icj ruling. uh, kind of

play18:49

reaffirmed. Uh, Israel's

play18:51

right for self-defense. and

play18:53

that may have taken some

play18:55

political. and uh wind out

play18:57

of the sales of Hamas. uh

play18:59

out of Iran as well. but

play19:01

also limits the number of

play19:02

options that they have so

play19:04

so we might see this. we'll

play19:06

add more impetus. towards

play19:08

uh, some sort of hostage.

play19:10

release exchange for

play19:11

prisoners. uh deal. in

play19:14

Gaza that that also

play19:15

results in a temporary

play19:16

ceasefire. and and that

play19:18

will you know, quiet things

play19:20

down across the entire

play19:21

region if it stays true

play19:23

to form, How as always

play19:25

thank you so much for your

play19:26

time. and all your Insight

play19:28

here. I'm sure we'll be

play19:29

talking with you a lot more.

play19:31

Hopefully even maybe later

play19:32

today. If not into the

play19:33

rest of the week as we

play19:34

work to get more

play19:35

information here, but how

play19:36

come for a retired Marine

play19:38

intelligence officer as

play19:38

always? Thanks so much.

play19:40

Thank you, Lexi. All right,

play19:42

so we're going to continue

play19:43

to follow the latest here.

play19:45

Let's also show you more of

play19:46

this reaction that we're

play19:47

seeing on social media.

play19:48

vice president Kamala

play19:49

Harris putting this out on

play19:50

X moments ago. saying that

play19:52

Doug and I mourn the loss

play19:54

of the 3 US service members

play19:56

killed in Northeast Jordan

play19:57

near the Syria border in a

play19:58

Despicable attack by Iran

play20:00

backed militant groups Our

play20:01

prayers are with their loved

play20:02

ones as well as those

play20:04

injured these Fallen

play20:05

patriots served bravely and

play20:07

selflessly. wholly committed

play20:08

to their fellow Americans

play20:09

and the security of our

play20:10

nation and our allies and

play20:11

partners. our entire nation

play20:14

will forever honor these

play20:15

Warriors. their service and

play20:16

the ultimate sacrifice.

play20:18

We're also hearing from

play20:19

President Biden today who has

play20:21

released a statement he was

play20:23

in, South Carolina earlier.

play20:25

at a church service and

play20:26

then released this shortly

play20:27

after that. uh event

play20:30

happened earlier today.

play20:31

Let's pull up what he has

play20:32

to say here. as well.

play20:35

And this was the statement

play20:36

that he had released.

play20:37

saying today's today

play20:38

America's heart is heavy

play20:40

last night 3 US service

play20:42

members were killed and and

play20:45

many wounded during an

play20:46

unmanned aerial drone

play20:47

attack on our forces

play20:48

stationed in Northeast

play20:48

Jordan near the Syria

play20:49

border. while we're still

play20:50

Gathering the facts of this

play20:50

attack. We know it was

play20:51

carried out by radical Iran

play20:53

backed militant groups

play20:54

operating in Syria and Iraq

play20:56

Jill and I joined the

play20:57

families and friends of our

play20:58

fallen. and Americans across

play21:00

the country. in grieving

play21:01

the loss of these Warriors.

play21:03

in this despicable and

play21:04

wholly unjust attack. the

play21:06

service members embodied the

play21:07

very best of our nation.

play21:09

unwavering in their bravery

play21:10

unflinching in their Duty

play21:12

unbending in their

play21:13

commitment to our country.

play21:14

risking their own safety for

play21:15

the safety of their fellow

play21:17

Americans and our allies and

play21:18

partners with whom we

play21:19

stand in the fight against

play21:20

terrorism. It's a fight

play21:22

that we will not seize the

play21:24

3 American Service members

play21:24

we lost were patriots

play21:26

in the highest sense and

play21:28

their ultimate sacrifice.

play21:29

will never be forgotten by

play21:30

our nation together. We

play21:31

will keep this sacred

play21:32

obligation we bear to

play21:33

their families we will

play21:34

strive to be worthy of

play21:35

their honor and Valor We

play21:37

will continue to carry on

play21:38

the commitment to fight

play21:39

terrorism and have no

play21:41

doubt. We will hold

play21:42

all those responsible to

play21:43

account at a time
