How does the script relate Leonardo da Vinci's work to the concept of using tools for problem-solving?
-The script relates da Vinci's work by pointing out that his diverse interests in painting, anatomy, and engineering were all tools he used to solve the problem of accurately and beautifully depicting the human form.
What advice does the script give to developers who fear being left behind by new technologies?
-The script advises developers to focus on the problems they want to solve rather than the tools themselves. By doing so, they can adapt to new technologies as they arise, using them as tools to solve the problems they are interested in.
What is the significance of the location mentioned in the script in relation to Leonardo da Vinci?
-The location, Milan, is significant because it is home to the Museum of Leonardo da Vinci and a statue of him, serving as a backdrop for discussing his multidisciplinary approach to focus and innovation.
How does the script differentiate between da Vinci's roles as a painter, scientist, and engineer?
-The script differentiates these roles by stating that da Vinci started as a painter and was primarily known for his paintings. His work in science and engineering was more observational, with a focus on drawing and understanding the subjects he was interested in.
What is the script's perspective on the relationship between focus and creativity?

🎨 Embracing Multidisciplinary Focus: The Da Vinci Approach
The speaker addresses the common concern about maintaining focus in a multifaceted world, using Leonardo da Vinci as an example. Da Vinci was renowned for his diverse interests and achievements, yet he was primarily known as a painter. His anatomical studies and engineering designs stemmed from his core passion for painting and drawing the human form. The speaker suggests that by focusing on a central skill or interest, one can expand into various areas and technologies without being confined to a single discipline. This approach allows for a broad exploration while maintaining a core area of expertise.
🛠️ Leveraging Focus to Master Problem-Solving Across Disciplines
Building upon the theme of multidisciplinary focus, the speaker encourages viewers to concentrate on the problems they are passionate about solving. By doing so, they can integrate various technologies, tools, and methods to become specialists in addressing those specific issues. The speaker emphasizes the importance of not being limited to a single tool or technology, but rather using a variety of them to solve problems effectively. The video concludes with a call to action for viewers to subscribe and follow along for more career advice, positioning oneself to grow beyond being just a senior developer, much like Leonardo da Vinci did in his diverse pursuits.

Transcripts
so how can you think about focus when
Leonardo da Vinci did so many different
things in so many different areas right
um that's a question I get a lot from
developers Bruno how can I focus on
things man you know if I focus on
something I'm gonna miss something else
and you know Leonardo DaVinci did so
many things right so why do we need to
focus so watch this video uh for us to
talk a little bit about Focus here so
today I'm here in Milan right in front
of the Lord DaVinci statue actually I
just went over there there's the Museum
of Leonardo da Vinci and right here in
this beautiful Square
um here is this famous uh
opera house or theater from Milan is
right here across the street and you
know you can't stop thinking about focus
when you just watch it uh learn our Da
Vinci museum with all the things that he
did you know all the all the paintings
and engineering and all the science you
know this guy was a genius right he did
so many things but here's here's the
thing right if you start thinking about
what he actually did right what Leonardo
I think she actually did you're gonna
find out that he was very very famous
for Lena painter right and uh and you
know and as a scientist or as an
engineer he was much more an observer uh
you know he he would observe things and
draw things right right so all of his
all in another DaVinci so he started as
a painter he he is trained as a painter
he he you know he did his all his career
and he's very famous as a painter right
but um but then he started drawing the
human body right you know and because he
was an artist uh they let him disact uh
bodies to you know so he could paint
them better right so again uh although
he he went on and he was a great
anatomist and a lot of detail in the
human bodies and and he did all this
research that he did all of these was
done because he wanted your pains right
the human body right and because he did
that because he he dissected the human
body and and looking at all the joins
all the muscles all that kind of things
he starts drawing machines right and
it's funny that you know he has all this
crazy thing he has like a lion uh that
he he created right like mechanical line
he has a mechanical Soldier all right so
here's all this kind of thing so so he
had all these machines right that you
know that he's very well known for also
but funny enough most of the machines
he'd never he never even create them
right it was just drawings right so you
know when you look at all these and you
look how amazing this guy was right we
can see that he was amazing because he
was painting because he was drawing
right and I think that's that's
something we have to to consider right
you know whatever thing that you were
very good at whatever thing that you are
amazing at you can use that to do a lot
of other things right you can use your
focus to go on all kinds of different
areas all kinds of different
Technologies all kinds of different
tools right so you don't have to be tied
up to one single specific thing right
you can really go on on all kinds of
different areas all kinds of different
Technologies uh just by having a Focus
right and so
um you know so so a lot a lot of people
tell me that they don't want to focus
because they fear missing something out
but in reality if you focus on something
that that's you know you you can really
um actually do a lot more right if you
focus on something you can really get
all kinds of different areas that you
want to you want to work on especially
tools right there's another thing that
developers are always afraid of because
oh Bruno but if I focus on Java then
what if Scala comes along right and I
miss it but you know what what Java is
Scala there are tools right and you know
and and so you can you can use all kinds
of tools to focus on whatever you want
right so the way I approach this it's
very simple right instead of Focus On
Tools focus on problems what is the
problem that you try to solve what is
the problem that you're most interested
in and then like Leonardo DaVinci right
you know he was interested in painting
painting people right and so because of
that he will use all kinds of tools you
know he did he did uh you know he did
drawing he did painting he did uh um
sculpture right you know he did
engineering machines and science right
and he did all that because he wanted to
pay change people right so what is the
problem that you are trying to solve
right and then figure out all kinds of
tools that you can use to solve the
problem you can use cloud you can use
Java you can use programming you can use
design you can use uh you know all kinds
of things to solve a problem that you
have right so think about that think
about what problem you want to solve
think about uh your biggest foe the big
Focus that you want to put your whole
life to and then incorporates everything
that you can incorporate all the
Technologies all the tools all the
things that you can into solving that
problem and that we're going to make you
a specialist on solving that problem but
also we're gonna allow you to be to
experiment and play along and and use
all kinds of things like Leonardo da
Vinci did right so you know if you want
to hear more tips about your career and
you want to really grow Beyond senior
developer don't forget to like And
subscribe this video because I'm gonna
keep posting more thing for you and
especially follow this playlist right
where I publish videos every day about
my trip here in Europe and so uh so you
know you might want to ring the bell
also right so every time I post a video
you get notified okay so this Bruno
Souza for code for life and I see you
guys around uh to improve your career
right so go out be amazing as Leonardo
DaVinci was because we can do that see
