now I want to talk about some
alternatives to mental health issues now
of course check with your doctor before
taking this advice especially if you're
on certain medications but the problem
is with psychiatric drugs there are a
lot of side effects so I think it's
really good to look at alternative
remedies that have virtually no side
effects and there's a lot of therapeutic
benefit from using mushrooms so there
are four main mushrooms that I'm want to
talk about today the first one is called
chaga and the results are quite
significant for boosting memory
concentration other cognitive benefits
like focus and improving your ability to
learn chaga helps to increase the growth
of new synapses which are the tree likee
branches from neurons that communicate
to other neurons also chaga increases a
neurotransmitter called
acetylcholine which is the
neurotransmitter that's in involved in
so many different cognitive functions in
your brain Chaka actually does it by
inhibiting uh the factors that block
acetylcholine so thereby increasing
acetylcholine but make sure you don't
take it if you're in a blood thinner if
you're on Diabetes medication or if you
have kidney damage the next mushroom I'm
going to recommend is Corps Corps is an
adapted gen for your adrenals it's also
good for increasing your uh physical
performance and endurance but it has
some really interesting positive effects
on your brain It's very effective for
decreasing brain fatigue and it does
this by increasing blood flow through
your brain and decreasing something
called lactate now lactate is a
byproduct of glucose metabolism in the
brain and your neurons can use lactate
as fuel but the problem is when your
neurons are damaged they can't take in
lactate so you have this buildup of
lactate which can be toxic but Corps
actually can clear out this lactate from
the brain also Corps will decrease the
oxidation in the brain so it does a lot
of things for your mental health the
next mushroom I'm going to talk about is
lion's man now lion man has some
incredible anti-cancer effects but it
also is considered a brain tonic it has
been used by the Buddhist monks for
thousands of years to enhance brain
power but Lions man has a direct
stimulatory effect
on something called nerve growth factor
which does two things it repairs neurons
as well as increases the growth of
neurons in your brain and lions man is
really good to take if you had any type
of brain trauma or brain surgery because
it can help repair brain tissue now of
course if you had brain trauma you also
want to add uh MCT oil or ketones in
general either through fasting or going
on a low carb diet because ketones are
the best fuel for anything related to
problems with your brain all right and
the last mushroom I'm going to recommend
specifically for depression is the
matake mushroom so there you have it the

your diet okay there's several reasons
first of all is a mushroom a vegetable
uh no it's not it's a fungus okay it's a
fungi and um fungus and mushrooms are
very very keto friendly let's break it
down we got 92% water okay in mushrooms
4% carbs 2% protein and less than 1% fat
so in one cup of mushrooms we only have
two grams of carb and one gram of fiber
so really we only have one gram of net
carb so again mushrooms are extremely uh
keto friendly but it's not just the low
carbs that we're interested in they have
a lot of other things um very rich in
the B vitamins especially B2 B3 B5
folate uh very high in selenium which is
a powerful antioxidant that is vital for
your thyroid and a precursor for
glutathione for the liver which is the
most powerful antioxid
also loaded with zinc which I've done
million videos on that uh great copper
Source okay copper is part of the
vitamin C complex which is important in
making collagen and also in your immune
system and it has a good amount of
potassium also if that mushroom is
exposed to UV light uh there'll be some
vitamin D in a in a form that's like a
previtamin d that has to be converted
but there's some vitamin D in that
mushroom
but I think the biggest benefit of
mushrooms go Way Beyond just the
nutrients goes into the antioxidants the
chemicals in these mushrooms are
incredible I mean it has beta glucans
which are anti-tumor there's many many
different chemicals in mushrooms that
give some very cool effects uh to
support your adrenals for stress to
support Vitality uh to support your
immune system to help you reduce
inflammation and the list goes on and on
uh funguses have been around for a very
long time even before plants and
funguses are more related to animals
than they are to plants fungus even has
the ability to break down plastic in our
environment not in years but even by
weeks so they've adapted to many
different harsh environments in their
survival and have created different
compounds that can benefit us as well
and um on the Spectrum you have
mushrooms that are poisonous that can
kill you yet you have mushrooms that can
heal you and are used for medicine and
there's a couple other very interesting
things about fungus number one uh you
probably heard of good friendly bacteria
it's called the microbiome or probiotics
or Flora well you actually have friendly
fungus you have friendly yeasts which
are a type of fungus that greatly
benefits your immune system helps you
make vitamins helps make nutrients more
soble to be absorbed in the soil we also
have a tremendous amount of fungus
that's not researched as much as
bacteria but fungus and bacteria work
together to take the rocks in the soil
to take the clay to take the sand and to
break it down into certain minerals that
the plant can then uptake and in
exchange the roots of that plant give
off certain things like even sugars and
other types of carbohydrates and amino
acids to the fungus and the bacteria so
they can work back and forth and so it's
a very interesting topic especially for
someone that's uh creating a garden and
wants to make sure that uh plant is very
very rich in nutrients you really need
the fungus not just the bacteria so
those are just a few reasons why
mushrooms are very uh not just
ketofriendly but extremely healthy for
