Transcripts
so okay my name
Isa I am the chi Revenue officer here at
skill I joined the company in uh in
January
2024 and prior uh joining ski I spent
roughly a decade working with um large
enterprise software companies both
American and European in order really to
to go to market with our SAS solution in
um in the Mia market so the European
market most of the time I was the first
person in Europe to be hired and and
launched these new products across the
region so it was a great experience a
great learning I understand exactly what
is important in order to execute
Partnerships uh through different cycles
and here at skill of course what is
exciting is that I'm here to bring my my
experience and really create something
new in the market that can be also
disruptive uh listening to potential
customers understanding what are their
needs and then together of course with
uh our founder and our engineering team
uh the goal of course is to build the
right solution
for any customer that um would require
skilled from a security perspective so
I'm in charge of the whole goto Market
strategy of the company the commercial
aspects uh I kind of overseas also some
some marketing activities work Anastasia
so again that's my my my
role so yes can you briefly describe
their artificial engine security product
of your company
briefly so yeah I
think so what we do I mean skilled um
it's a company that essentially uh has
the objective to protect on device AI
models from reverse engineering so if
you think about the challenge or threats
that we are trying to to solve with our
solution we all know that that when
machine learning algorithm or AI models
are deployed on devices whether these
are mobile
application uh Vehicles robots drones
you name it right or any other connected
devices they can become much more
vulnerable to reverse Engineers so
literally in in couple of minutes any
attacker can immediately steal and
locates your your AI model and these of
course have not only a huge impact on
your intellectual property but also on
your Competitive Edge from a solution
perspective what we do essentially is
that we provide a full-fledged
protection both at rest and run time
specifically designed again for AI
models with our soft after protection
all the the weights of the IM model are
essentially transformed to something
that is undistinguishable from random
values so every weight that is sent to
an untrusted memory will be come
essentially a transformed weight
and overall we are operating in
different Industries whether is Health
Care robotics defense industrial iot
Mobility uh even surveillance so
different kind of verticals that really
require our solution to to protect uh
their intellectual property and
models what were the two main challenge
you uh I don't know what you say income
two in selling this product on the
European
market cool well I
think I
mean in in an amazing landscape because
of course on one side we are a kind of
cyber security solution that
protects AI which is the the biggest
Topic at the moment everyone talks about
the ey so the market potential can be
exponential however if you would ask me
what could be the the two main
challenges specifically in Europe
on one side we know that Europe is a
there is always an issue of Regulatory
Compliance so there are very uh
extensive regulation in order to uh you
know govern the product safety uh
Following also the environmental
standards and so on and so forth so it's
very important always always to take
care about the EU
regulation um and this can be you know
complex time consuming and of course um
we also require probably in order to to
generate awareness first of all uh a
decent amount of customers live
customers that with their brand can help
us to go to accelerate our our goto
Market
strategy uh from a regulation
perspective now as we all know there is
there was the the European AI Act
which of course is going to have
probably also an impact right but at
least hopefully European um organization
uh will become more mature to to adopt
such Solutions and I think the other
challenge specific in the European
market but that's not only for skill
it's for any I think software companies
is that Europe is not like the United
States where there is one single country
with one single language Europe is a
very diverse Market with different
languages different culture different
preferences and so every time I think
that you go or Target a specific Market
you need to be very tailored in your
messaging in your narrative uh
understanding also what are the the
local Customs the the the the buying
Behavior right whenever
buy software they may do this in a very
different way from country to Country
right and so these I think I would say
are the are the two main um main
challenge probably okay so what are the
main selection criteria that European
customers consider before buying an EI
AI
projects well I think you know one one
for in our case for for skill I think
one of
the the the key concern always besides
of course make sure that the product
functions is the is the impact that our
solution can have in the in the
performance overhead right
so whether you know we're dealing with
organization in different
verticals I think for them it's it's
very important that a solutional skill
doesn't have a major impact on the on
the
performance um we have typically I would
say an average between five and 50%
overhead which is decent can always be
improved it's uh the same for all
country in Europe or it's different uh
motivation this is the this average
number for the performance is something
that we
we a data that we have based on the
proof of concept that we have done with
uh potential customers and of course we
will do more and more to to have some
benchmarks but that's at the high level
what uh what we do um I think the other
criteria obviously it's
about and this something that we will do
uh when we are going to raise our next
fun
funding the the key topic around
security certification again because for
Europe specific it's very important
everything related to data privacy and
security
so by getting a a security certification
I think customers will be more open to
to buy a solution like skilled and I
think you know overall is about the user
experience uh that um our customer can
have leveraging our solution also the
the comparison between the the cost of
our solution and the ROI the return on
investment um it's something that more
and more we will need to start measuring
and and I think if we'll be able to
demonstrate what is Roi based on the
investment our customer do with us I
think this is going to be very very
important
okay and um have you encountered it I
don't know I don't very know how we say
this word so any so what encountered any
encountered any difficulties related to
competition I think at the moment we are
still early stage we didn't face any
specific
uh competitor player that uh you know
won any partnership against us I think
the number one competition at the moment
for us is the do nothing for example
when you deal with Prospect they may
have some interest in our soltion but
maybe not enough interest to justify an
investment and so they decide maybe to
not do anything and then maybe after a
few months they come back to us and
they're
interested we have an example of a
prospect that I think Marie engaged one
year ago at that time they were not so
interested now they re-engage with us
and we did the PC with them and it seems
that you know in in the next months they
they would be fine to to close a
partnership right
um the other competition could also be
when we deal maybe with a large
organization that have already an
inhouse custom solution that maybe they
developed um and so here comes the the
change management so really trying to
convince them to not keep doing what
they are doing which is essentially
using the existing in-house solution
that they already have
but let them move to a much more agile
and and better solution like skills
yeah and um how does your company
measure the success of its sales
strategy in on the European market I
think the way how we should measure
success is obviously the number of uh
interactions that we have with prospects
meetings at this stage
uh one big component I think that will
help us to to get meetings especially at
the stage of our company it's going to
be events like we've seen that from KH
we had a lot of meetings we had some
follow-ups with many organization and we
need to
invest um time in order to attend some
of those events in order to generate
leads and then of course on par
there is all the day-to-day activity
which is outbound reach
out um which of course is more tricky
because you know company don't know us
and so there needs to be I think a
balance between doing outbound reach out
and then investment in leading events
and of course at a certain stage uh
there would be also some investment in
uh in
marketing okay and uh what advice uh
would you give to company looking
another another way of how we measure
success s in the European Market at the
moment I think it's also the amount of
proof of concept that we do with the
prospective customer and then the next
step would be how many of these proven
Concepts will be converted to actual
dollars meaning deals and partnership
okay
uh what advice would you give to company
looking to Market artificial
intelligence project
ink one just one well I think that's a
it's a general very general question um
for General product not only for
security for in Cy in cyber security no
I I think the first thing would be to
try to identify what is your ICP ideal
customer profile because you know when
you go to market with a product that's
one of the most challenging thing
understanding what is your sweet spot
what is your total addressable
market and you can
only I'm
