2021 was honestly my best year yet which

is such a weird thing to say because it

was my loneliest year um but i just grew

so much and i had incredible experiences

to first explain why i started this um

which takes us back to 2020 how that

year went for me and how that triggered

me to become the person i am now so the

reason that 2020 gave me the

determination and motivation to make

2021 my best year yet was because 2020

was a horrible year it was horrendous

from the get-go let's take it back to

january 1st 2020 um new year's day which

i spent crying my eyes out all day long

i was in so much pain because that was

the day i finally cut off a toxic axe

for good out of my life a couple days

after that so still early january my cat

died this cat was my baby it was my

child he just turned five years old he

passed away very unexpectedly which just

resulted in more heartbreak a couple

weeks later at the end of january i went

back to uni for my second semester of

first year where i met someone and

instantly started dating this person

unfortunately things escalated very very

quickly and i found myself in a

relationship that i wasn't actually

ready for because i didn't think too

much about it i spent majority of my

second semester just before lockdown

here partying pretty much every single

day neglecting my uni work

and following the crowd pretty much

every single day i don't think i had

much sense of self at that point um i

had no kind of personal practices not a

lot of independence i was just always

with a group of people

and just having a good time which

honestly i don't regret i think

everything happens to a reason um but by

the time locked down here and i was

forced to be on my own all the time

i realized how the hell did i get here

why am i in a relationship with a person

that isn't for me because somehow i'm

stuck kindness for love and that is a

serious issue and that is something that

i need to now fix because there's

something going on internally where i am

accepting the bare minimum

and praising it for some reason once i

had that realization i then ended that

very short-term relationship

and at this point my social media

journey had just begun until at the end

of summer i met somebody else and i

started dating again because for some

reason i still had hope i was still in a

relationship with somebody who

was not emotionally available at all and

yeah i was still in a relationship with

them why i don't know um and could not

give me the bad minimum which just led

my mental health to decline even more my

sense of worth was very low and because

of all of this i was starting to give up

on the social media stuff i wasn't

posting as consistently i wasn't posting

youtube videos at the end of november in

2020 i finally walked away from that

relationship because i was sick and

tired of having to beg somebody to act

right and treat me right and actually be

able to show emotions

and i knew somewhere deep down that i

deserved better than that so i spent all

of december 2020 trying to figure out

where i went wrong and why i kept

finding myself in these situations it

was so repetitive i kept finding myself

in the exact same situation where i was

with somebody who wasn't treating me

right and for some reason i was

play04:40

tolerating it and i knew that was my own

issue and i couldn't be the victim in

play04:44

this situation anymore there was

play04:46

something internal that was going on

with me that was allowing this to happen

to me and life kept throwing this same

play04:51

situation at me which resulted in

play04:53

heartbreaks over and over and it was

going to continue doing so until i

learned the lesson

and i figured out that that lesson was

self-love and it wasn't going to be

until i worked on myself

realized what my sense of self was

got my independence back and got my

confidence and self-worth up that i

would start having better

relationships and experiences with other

people so all of december 2020 i made a

plan and i said you know what 2020 was a

write-up from the get-go it was pretty

horrendous and painful and it has been

throughout i lost friends i went through

breakups i just my mental health was

really bad 2021 i am changing that and

2021 i am staying on my own throughout

so i journaled and journaled and i wrote

and i let go of all of those emotional

connections and i officially started

fresh on january 1st 2021. okay now that

that little 20 20 recap is over and done

with hopefully you guys have a clear

idea of the mental state i was in and

how i was pretty much sick and tired of

everything i had gone through so now

let's get into the main section of the

was actually like for me what were my

goals did i achieve them how did that

all go down so my first main goal was to

have a healthier lifestyle um and this

was centered around having a morning

routine i've never really been a morning

person but i wanted to be committed to

practicing that so i made a routine for

my morning and that was going to be wake

up early

do positive affirmations that was then

followed by meditation following on from

that i started to learn french so i have

this little app called memrise on my

phone and i do five minutes of french a

day i am still getting there it's not

something i really stayed that

consistent with i was definitely

consistent with it for the first half of

and now i'm doing it here and there but

for 2022 i'm still going on with it um

and it's nice to know that you're doing

even if it's just five minutes following

on from that the next step in my morning

routine was to exercise i have never

been consistent with working out i've

never found any joy in it and 2021 was

the year that i actually joined the gym

it i've actually found joy from it i

found that as soon as i do a gym session

i feel so happy it's really good for my

mental health and i find so much joy

actually seeing progress that i'm making

from working out

and then my other positive lifestyle

routine changes that i wanted to

implement in 2021 and successfully did

was one reading i've read so many new

books um i was

constantly been at the bookshop this

year buying new books learning new

things one really exciting thing that

has come from reading a lot is i found

that i think i want to be a writer i've

never actually known what i want to do

with my future

but the thought of writing a book myself

really excites me and that's not

something i would have figured out about

myself beforehand um so i actually got

into journalism this year and i started

writing articles for my university

student magazine um which is crazy i

never thought i would be into journalism

i've only written two articles so far i

only started this semester at university

but it's given me a lot of hope and

excitement about the direction i'm going

in and where the future's going to take

me i also got into journaling this year

which has been such an amazing addition

to my life i don't feel like i have to

really go to anybody about my problems

or rant about anything or ask for advice

because the second that you write down

everything that's on your mind whether

it's good or bad into a journal

it's so crazy i know it sounds stupid

but everything really is just off your

chest and it's like a huge weight has

just rereading some of the pages and

incredibly freeing and because of that

coming away from that and in the second

i now look at it in a completely

different way i've unfollowed a bunch of

now my social media is such a positive

place and it just inspires me and it

was literally sat in bed working on

essays when i wasn't making content and

as a result in summer 2021 i found out i

got a first class grade in my second

year of uni which was amazing and i was

honestly quite close to dropping out of

uni at one point so knowing that i was

actually doing well and i knew what i

was doing was so motivational and it

inspired me to stay committed as a

student in my third year where i am now

um and that's resulted in me actually

waking up at eight o'clock in the

morning so i can make my 9 a.m lectures

and going to every single lecture in

seminar i'm not skipping them alongside

this one of the main goals for 2021 was

also to make as many memories as

possible and have incredible experiences

given that 2020 was a lockdown um so i

really wanted to make the most of this

year and i'm so happy to say that i did

i traveled to different cities i went to

leeds liverpool

birmingham

london so many times i visited new

people i made new friends i also spent a

lot of quality time with my family

especially my grandparents and just

maximizing the time i have with them

and going out to dinners with them

making the most of student lifestyle

because this is the last year that i'm

going to have it going out clubbing as

often as i can

just partying with my friends really

enjoying and being grateful for the fact

that we're not on a lockdown anymore

doubt i can be so hard on myself when i

make a mistake or when i do something

procrastinate and i beat myself up about

it and the one thing that's really

gotten myself out of that habit and

that's led me to having the highest

level of compassion patience and

kindness for myself is looking at myself

as my five six-year-old self because i

am still that girl just in a bigger body

we are all still our inner

children we are our younger selves and

that's why we need to have the highest

level of compassion for ourselves and

not be as hard on ourselves once you see

still just going through life trying to

i am no longer dependent on anyone i

don't feel like i need someone to come

into my life and save me or give me some

anybody i do not get attached when i'm

dating because i have a great time on my

this year i don't need to date anybody
