the fact that keywords matter I want you
to spend some time thinking about what
kind of words people might use to search
for for your content these are your
keywords now sometimes it's easy to get
caught up in the words that we would use
to search for our content but that's not
what I want you to think about I want
you to think about what you want your
people your community your followers
what words are they using to search for
your content sprinkle these words
naturally throughout your canva website
or any kind of website that you have
incorporate these words into the titles
the headings and the content but keep it
as conversational as possible you want

backlinks team effort plays off here so
what are backlinks backlinks are links
from other websites to your website back
linking linking back to your website
this tells search engines that your
website is valuable it's trustworth
worthy someone else liked it enough to
point back to it to link back to your
site if no one is currently giving you
any back links you can network with some
other nonprofits in your Niche some
other community members and see if
there's anything of value that they
could point to your site for and if
there isn't currently anything valuable
enough for them to point back to go out
and create it create the content that
they want to link back to that they want
to share this could mean starting some
sort of blog it could mean just having a
couple articles that people can link
back to again this just boosts your
trustworthiness in Google's eyes next
tip spread the word on social media you
will always hear me talking about social
media and email lists on this channel
there is power to spreading the word on
social media and once you've created
your website and you're ready to share
it you need to be linking it everywhere

Reach people people online with your
digital Communications if you're
interested in that I'll link it below
but that being said the amount of times
we go to do a digital Communications
review and we see someone's website is
not linked on their Facebook page their
YouTube channel doesn't have their
website maybe their website doesn't have
their social media profiles it happens
almost every single time it's easy to
forget about all these different links
that you have going on but if you're
going to put the effort into building a
cohesive website that talks about what
you're doing and spreads hope healing
and light you need to make sure you
share it everywhere you're going to show
up online if that's Facebook that's
Facebook if that's Instagram that's
Instagram link your website please when
you link your website on your social
platforms this creates more
opportunities for touch points more
chances for people to click on your
website and take a visit to it even if
they never show up or become part of
your community you never hear from them
again Google takes notice of these
visits and perceives your website as
popular and relevant this increased
traction from social media platforms
will tell search engines your website is
worth sharing this is how you optimize
for search engines this is SEO it
doesn't sound like it it's pretty basic
but this is SEO so the more you spread
the word on social media about your
website encourage people to visit the
more Google is going to see you as
credible and popular next tip canvas's
SEO toolbox if you are using canva
websites which by the way we create a
lot of canva website content a link
below a couple of the most popular but
I'll let you know if you have a canva
website question you can a comment it
below and we'll add it to our very long
and growing list of YouTube videos we
need to make throughout the next year or
two or whatever or B if you want an
answer faster become a member of our
digital Communications training Hub we
answer members questions every week we
will create a personalized video a
personalized response just for you to
walk you through whatever answer you're
seeking we've got monthly and annual
membership so if you want to just jump
in for a month and dump your questions
on us and get out that's fine and of
course your questions are not just
limited to canva you can also ask
questions about social media websites
anything digital Communications related
we're here for you that being said canva
does have some specific tools to boost
your canva website's SEO or search
engine optimization for example you can
add descriptions to your images so that
the search engines know what the images
are and can say oh this website is
sharing imagery that is related to its
General theme this just makes it feel
better about sharing your website with
people as they're searching for it yes I
know I just indicated that search
engines has feelings yes I know that's
not real I blame AI with your canva
website you can can also create meta
descriptions which is a brief summary of
your page content which again just gives
Google or whatever search engine more
information about it what what it might
be sharing so again Google feels better
about sharing your website even though
it doesn't have feelings and with canva
websites you can publish your site with
a custom domain name that uses some of
those keywords we were talking about
earlier we do have a video linked below
and above talking about Cana domain name
options and how you can go forward with
that so check that video out if you're
interested in buying a domain through
canva it's super nice to do I've done it
with two of my companies now long-term
use you don't have to pay for hosting
it's very cheap fairy basic I recommend
it again that's up to you but when you
do create a custom domain name and you
use those keywords it is a way of
improving your search engine
optimization because those keywords are
going to come into play with the search
engines serving up your site last but
not least you can play one of the least
favorite games on the internet the SEO
waiting game search engine optimization
is not a quick fix it is a gradual climb
you can't make these changes and then
expect all of a sudden your website to
get 10 or 100 times the visitors it had
yesterday Google needs time to notice
these changes you are making process
them maybe have feelings about them and
then reflect changes in its ranking of
your website consistency is key here
stick with these strategies over time
you will see your website start to rise
in search results and remember because
sometimes it's very helpful to remember
why we are doing all of this the goal of
SEO search engine up optimization is not
just to please the search engines we're
not just here doing this to make Google
happy all of these tactics make your
site even more helpful more clear more
understandable for the people you are
creating the site for the people that
you want to help and by following these
steps you make your canva website more
easily discoverable to these people so
you can spread your mission even further
you can impact more lives with hope
healing and light all online if this
video was helpful for you subscribe
below for more canva and digital
Communications videos in general I'm
Sammy and I'll catch you in the next one
peace
