documentary photography documenting my
life documenting the important moments i
have with others
documenting
ever since i got back into photography
i've loved the act of just casually
capturing moments
with the people i enjoy being around and
the details of the mundane parts of life
it wasn't until more recently that the
purpose of it all has really grounded
itself for me
being able to have a camera and capture
important intimate moments not just for
me but
also for others has shown me the true
importance of documenting the everyday
and its purpose
documenting for me brings that peace of
mind that this all isn't worthless
that the little moments we have on our
own and share with others matter
the beauty of those moments we don't
often pay attention to or
let fade to time
it's important to sometimes to just be
okay with being bored out of our minds
because
those days are real
not every day is glamorous not every day
i'm motivated to carry a camera or take
pictures but i like to keep a camera
ready and nearby because moments come
and go and in a split second could be
gone forever and never happen again
that happened for me when my father
passed
i don't like to glamorize my lifestyle
because that's simply not real life
real life is working hard enjoying the
downtime or laying in bed all day long
watching tv and sleeping
doing those things we hate
for example i used to kind of hate
working with my dad doing manual labor
but
now that he's gone i find so much peace
and joy knowing i can
do something that he'd be proud of me
for and that i genuinely enjoy doing now
i feel his presence with me as i work in
the yard and take care of his legacy and
i'm glad that i got to document a large
part of it social media portrays this
fake window into a lavish lifestyle that
we all get caught up in
giving us this unhealthy and false sense
of reality that
we'll only be happy once we reach a
certain status when in reality we're
already living that life we want so bad
we just get distracted by the light box
that's in our hands even if you're only
doing a small part of it you're living
that life right now those moments of you
being proud of a loved one for doing
something as simple as making a shot
while playing basketball
falling asleep on a couch as the sun
sets or finally getting that rest they
need
that's what's important that's the life
that's what matters right now
capturing humans simply being
human
those thousands of images are years of
memories that will last for lifetimes to
come and
i hope they bring perspective meaning
and resonate with those who view them
i thank god for blessing me with this
purpose and giving me the tools to be
able to share these images i hope this
inspires you to photograph these mundane
moments in your life
your family your pets the way the sunset
lights your home in the morning and
evening
that job you're stuck doing to make ends
meet
because it all matters
so i simply ask you to
act on this inspiration and capture
those important moments for yourself
