info
Day so a few things about the Gaia
initiative uh Gaia is a comprehensive
open Innovation program designed for
innovators and idea holders
here to develop or refine an Innovative
concept into startup with that said uh
this G challenge uh is uh an Horizon
Project which is um uh being granted by
the European Union and the main scope of
the Gaia is to provide Solutions uh
within the energy sector the reason
behind um submitting this kind of
proposal uh for the European Union was
uh the beginning of the war between uh
Ukraine and Russia and and at that point
everyone felt uh the energy crisis um
rising in the European Union so uh here
in months Beyond Innovation we are
really proud to say that we are the
project leaders of this
Consortium uh we managed to submit this
proposal to the European Union and get
so uh to uh to build a great community
of innovators idea holders uh big
organizations mentors and other experts
in the energy sector to build a great
community and try to provide Solutions
within the sector and the challenges uh
that this sector has so uh it's an open
Innovation program uh initially uh
designed to attract uh idea holders
innovators uh young people uh really
likeminded people who would like to
enter the entrepreneurial and startup
journey and we are here to assist in the
very beginning of the journey by
providing uh education Consulting and
guidance through throughout the the
whole
program the participating countries of
for the Gaia challeng is Serbia Slovakia
Poland lva Lithuania Hungary Czech
Republic and
Greece with that said we do uh we we
have planed to uh to have eight Regional
challenges uh during the next couple of
months uh in which Regional challenge we
aim to gather as many uh teams as
possible so to spread out uh the The
Innovation and the entrepreneurial
mindset uh throughout these countries uh
but please note that if for example
someone would like to participate in the
Serbian Innovation Challenge but is not
leing in Serbia right now uh there is no
problem at all uh the challenges each
challenge uh is open to participation
even from uh countries outside of the
afor mentioned uh therefore you're more
than welcome to spread out the world the
word and uh try to raise awareness for
the Gaia challenge all over
Europe regarding the Gaia Partners uh
mtis Beyond Innovation is the project
leader of this Consortium alongside uh
UNESCO chair for green Innovation and
circular economy which is located in the
National Technical University of Athens
and Professor costadino soses also a
great uh uh contribution comes from eat
raw materials who is the leader uh for
raw materials in the European Zone and
we are proud to say that we are
associated partners with the at ra
materials and we we are focusing our
efforts on uh providing Solutions uh in
this sector also the Greek Association
of our Environmental Protection
companies uh otherwise called with the
acronym pppe and the inoc center which
is directly correlated with the
University of Upsala in Sweden so these
partners are are consist consist the
Consortium of the G Challenge and
they're responsible
for making uh this happen make it making
a reality and at the end providing
Solutions within the energy sector about
the scope and the objectives of the Gaia
challenge we would like to focus our
efforts into enhacing entrepreneurial
skills among the participants who are
going to uh apply
for the faces to the faces of the GU
challenge also try to interconnect
Regional ecosystems within the pan
European market and of course to Foster
Innovation and startup generation within
the energy
sector uh participants will have the
opportunity to gain a hands-on
experience on designing and developing
green Innovative solution uh we list uh
they will build uh all together uh a
network with young entrepreneurs uh
really experienced mentors and big
organizations were going to contribute
even more in this um building
community and of course uh the objective
is by the end of September 2025 to be
able to uh establish at least five
startups within the European Zone uh
with Core Business uh to provide uh a
product or service which aims to uh
provide Solutions within the challenges
of the energy or uh the raw material
sector some of the benefits of
participations for the applicants uh can
be highlighted that uh teams who are
going to participate uh will for free
receive uh startup Services worth worth
up to 30,000 so here's a a great a great
benefit and a great opportunity for both
individuals and teams who will have the
opportunity to H get the education get
the consultancy and get the the
mentoring programs uh which is which are
highly uh come come with highly high
quality and from uh really experienced
uh people who are willing to share
information share knowledge and
finally uh try to move a step forward
into finding sustainability within the
European Zone also uh a
great uh benefit can be considered the
network you're about uh to join uh as we
try to keep connected everyone who is
going to participate in the Gaia channel
uh technology give us this opportunity
so uh the connection and the network can
be uh still alive even after the end of
the Gaia challenge meaning September
2025 also in each phase participants
will receive a digital certificate from
a top European Innovation initiative and
this is really important especially uh
if you want to get
promoted uh uh for your skills and the
experience you are going to get from uh
this challenge especially into the
social media professional platform like
LinkedIn which is valid
and gives great credibility on what you
say into your digital
resume and all the aforementioned uh
benefits will come through bootcamp
trainings mentoring sessions by industry
experts and entrepreneurial
resources now about the the phes and the
important dates dates uh of the Gaia
challenge
uh right now we are into the phase one
of the program uh where uh we actually
have ex exceeded uh the deadline for
applications for participating in phase
one where we will we will dive into
these details uh a few minutes later uh
this phase one of the program it's about
the idea generation and having the
regional Innovation
competitions and uh it lasts from March
2024 until May
2024 phase two of the program will
follow uh it's the incubation and the
regional Innovation competition and it
will be starting in June
2024 uh up to October 2024 or otherwise
uh uh Autumn uh the the upcoming Autumn
2024 for phase three we're are going to
invite and promote the best teams who
are going to to be the winners from the
inter Regional Challenge and in this uh
last phase of the program uh the main
scope is to uh do the acceleration and
the startup establishment of this uh
selected selected teams and it will last
from November 2024 until September
2025 a few more details about the
timeline uh we can see here that uh
right now we do run the final info day
uh in case uh there will be another info
day during the next couple of weeks you
will get all informed uh if you want to
join another info day uh for now this is
the final info day for phase one of the
program uh the idea generation and
preparation for the regional Innovation
competition uh will begin at May 15 and
it will last until May 31st and uh
the regional Innovation competitions
will follow from uh May 29 to June
21 at last we're going to have after the
regional Innovation competitions we're
going to have the F visits in each
country in each uh country who in which
we are going to have a regional
Innovation competition uh participants
will have the opportunity to to take a a
firm visit after after this Regional
Innovation competition so to get more uh
about the everyday work the challenges
of this big organizations who are
involved uh actively within the energy
sector and from July 2024 the start of
phase two uh will
begin uh later later on we are going to
have as mentioned previously the
incubation and the general Innovation
competition
uh and uh in Autumn 2024 we're going to
have the inter Regional Innovation
competition which this inter Regional
inter Regional Innovation competition uh
will be uh a competition uh meant to and
designed to be in person so uh teams who
who are going to be promoted to phase
two of the program uh will get the
reinvestment so to travel to the
selected Europe an country and pit their
idea in front of a greater audience and
U develop even more their business
concept uh here is the phase three of
the program uh as we said earlier uh it
will last from November 2024 until
September 2025 and by the end of 2025 we
uh we plan to have at least five new
startups uh into the European
Zone a few words now about the
Innovation areas and um the the
solutions we're trying to find uh in the
sector uh as a broader
uh scope is to find Solutions within the
energy or the raw material sector uh
with that said uh as explained in the
very beginning uh GAA aims to provide
Solutions and uh try to uh find
innovative
ideas so to give to European citizens uh
the opportunity not to face once again
this energy crisis that we've faced
since uh
2021 uh therefore the one main thematic
um area is the energy uh which can be
the uh detailed into the renewable
energy the smart and sustainable cities
the energy stor and the Energy
Efficiency on the other hand we also
have the raw material sector uh and in
this
thematic we can uh divide this thematic
into the substitution of critical and
toxic materials in products and for
optimized performance Recycling and
material chain optimization for rent
Life Products mining in challenging
environments exploration and raw
materials resource assessment design of
products and services for the circular
economy increased resource efficiency in
Mineral and metallurgical
processes please note that in case that
you already have an idea and uh doesn't
feed absolutely 100% to one of these uh
thematic areas uh this doesn't mean that
your idea is not valid for participating
into the Gaia challenge uh uh these
thematics are just a
descriptive um let's say a beginning uh
description of the thematics we're going
to uh to get involved during the Gaia
Challenge and teams are more than
welcome to contribute by trying to
exceed these thematics and provide
Solutions uh where the challenges are
and uh try to find uh a business
Concepts that will make a positive
impact within the European
Zone lastly uh I would like to share
with you a few uh details on how to
apply to the phase one and phase two of
the program so uh you may use this uh
link uh can be also find can be also
found into the chat box uh in which link
uh you're going to uh to to select in
which innovation competition you would
like to uh participate uh you can choose
among the eight
choices and uh uh it will be uh
displayed a new application form where
it's pretty basic actually uh in this uh
in this stage uh you will be asked to uh
fulfill a project name this project name
uh it doesn't have to be the final name
of your project just give a project name
uh and it can be revised uh afterwards
uh we would like to have your full name
of the team representative and also some
contact details like your phone number
and your email address in case uh there
is already uh an existing team uh please
note that it is only required from one
person to submit this application form
as a team representative and uh this
team representative will submit the
contact details of the rest of the team
members of the in the same application
form in case you are individual you will
follow this process and you will
finalize your application as an
individual and there is no problem at
all because during uh bootom trainings
we will have the opportunity to get to
know each other and also try to formate
teams uh so to create um greater chances
for finding uh uh nice and uh innovative
ideas uh for the teams to participate
for the regional Innovation
competitions
also uh a second text box uh follows in
this application form and it's about the
the idea itself so you will be asked to
uh answer the first question question
which is uh if you have a startup idea
already in the Innovation area of the
competition if yes you select yes if no
you select no there is no right right or
wrong answer you just uh fill the
current status of uh the project also uh
it is highly recommended to submit uh
The Innovation area you believe your
idea lies in uh so to understand a few
things about your idea and what you have
in mind in case the two these two
questions uh can be answered with a yes
then uh you are kindly asked to provide
a few words about your idea so to give
us a a glams of uh what you have in mind
and try to understand what it's uh what
is this idea is all
about so uh I think I was I tried to to
keep it short just to to give the room
for questions and discussions and
discussion uh I'm at your disposal for
any questions thank you
for um being here present today for the
GU in for day and please uh anyone who
has a question uh can write this
question to the chat box or raise his or
her hand so to open up the microphone
and address the question verbally thank
you once again and um my colleagues uh
if they can assist me and uh uh reading
the the questions on the chat box if
any for now we have a raised Hand by an
unknown user so you can just open your
mic and ask the
question yes so basically my question is
that it is mentioned that 1300 13k Euro
will be provided as a startup service
whether it be cash or other like AWS
account and other credential for
different Services what what in the form
of what is the form of that
Grant
dear unfortunately I can't read your
name uh thank you for uh opening up your
microphone I'm afraid I would like to uh
I would like from you to clarify a bit
more your question so to give a more
direct answer if you don't mind okay
sure so basically it is mentioned
mention that 30k Euro will be provided
to each of the startup that will be
selected so it is mentioned that it will
be 30k worth of services whether it will
be like some Grant in form of like
monetary Grant like cash or anything or
it will be the services like AWS free
account or AWS credit Google Google
Cloud credits in that form so what is
the form of that 30k ground yeah got it
thank you for the question yes you're
absolutely right in in inside the
presentation it was written that uh
startup Services worth up to 30,000 will
be provided to each team uh these
startup Services uh have to do with uh
the education the Consulting and the
mentoring sessions the teams are going
to uh be uh having during the three
phases of the program uh and also uh it
was it is worth mentioning that uh other
than the uh startup Services worth up to
30,000 uh the three best teams of each
Regional Innovation competition uh will
gain in total
3,000 so the monetary support will be
given to the three best teams uh of each
Regional Innovation Challenge split
equally and also uh the teams who are
going to participate in the inter
Regional challenge will get monetary
support uh for travel expenses uh hope I
answer your question the best way
possible yeah I got my answer basically
top three team will be getting $300k of
uh funding or monetary benefit other 30k
30k as a service like mentoring setup Fe
and all other stuff yeah just let me
clarify the total price uh reward will
be €3,000 not uh three
300 okay okay
okay so other
questions yes please
Esther well what is not quite clear to
me thank you for the opportunity to to
ask a question is uh if we uh apply as
individuals we're going to take part in
a boot camp where we generate ideas
right but if we apply as a team uh then
there is no boot camp for us so we just
pitch at the national
round or how is that going yeah yeah let
me clarify this also thank you for the
question Esther uh so we do have an
extension of the deadline for phase one
of the program uh which phase one of the
pro program
uh will have the bootom trainings this
deadline um is now for May 12 and uh by
that day we
um we invite all uh either individuals
or teams to apply and uh take part on
the bootom trainings once this deadline
is over uh a new deadline will be is set
already for participating in the
regional Innovation competitions it
doesn't matter if someone is going to
participate in phase one of the program
or not uh everyone will have the
opportunity also to participate in phase
two of the program which is the regional
Innovation competitions this deadline
it's uh for the seven European countries
in June 6 except the Greek Regional
Innovation Challenge which the deadline
for participating in the regional
Innovation competition which is about to
take take place in Greece is for the
22nd of May so uh we do have three key
dates the first day it's uh uh common
for all eight uh European countries and
it's uh 12th of May for uh participating
in the ban trainings and the rest two
deadlines it's for phase two of the
program for the regional Innovation
competition in Greece the deadline for
submitting as final your application is
22nd of May and for the rest seven
countries is June
6 hope hope hope I answer your question
Mr yeah absolutely thank you you're
welcome
uh and another hand is been raised and
it's from uh
K yeah good day vasil yeah thank you
very much for the presentation again um
I've I think I've asked this question
last time but I'm not quite sure with
the answer uh I would like to ask like
um uh can you please tell us
the the target markets of the ideas for
example the innovation
for for certain Market would can be uh
innovations that are required for the
certain Market cannot be that valid for
another for example for Greece it would
make sense to come with some ideas that
are specifically with the for the
Greece or for Hungary it may be other
things that might be in the range of
Interest or is is it the totally in in
European level because depending on this
the complexity of the project can be
defined yeah okay yeah thank you for
this question it's a a very good good
question to set the ground for the boot
camp trainings uh so during the boot
camp trainings uh dear we will have the
opportunity to discuss about not only
the idea but also uh how to to create an
overall uh complete business concept
within this business concept is being
included uh the target market of the of
the idea itself so in some cases uh this
idea might uh apply to different
countries or in other cases the target
market could be uh just one or a couple
of countries uh within the European Zone
in any case this target market for each
idea uh has nothing to do with uh the
scope and the objectives of uh the GAA
challenge with other words we do invite
everyone to participate so to get uh the
education the knowledge and the
experience on how to generate ideas and
complete uh a business concept uh
throughout the the whole program and it
comes as a a last priority in which
Market could this business idea
apply in uh in the era we live right now
it is best to uh try to have a niche
market at first and have a Global
Perspective uh for the final product or
service you're aing to to have but it
doesn't have to do uh since the very
beginning try to apply to its Europe
Market hopefully I answer your
question thank you very much that's
another quick question so that would be
possible during the boot camp and
mentoring processes like phase one and
phase two would it be possible to adjust
the topics I mean yes
absolutely absolutely thank you again
for the question this is one of the main
uh rules and uh mind
uh we tend to say that we have uh uh in
the startup ecosystem uh we don't be
afraid to be agile and pivot our idea
constantly so to find the best possible
Feit between the market and our
expertise and competitive Advantage
therefore there's no problem at all to
change uh slightly or uh even greater
the idea during the the whole G
challenge thank you very
much thank you for the questions
K uh we do have another question uh
another raised hand from Mina hello
Mina hello I hope you're doing well uh
thank you Mr vasilis for the opportunity
and for sharing this presentation I
actually applied uh with one idea I have
two ideas and one of them I'm already
involved in in the green energy field
and I wanted to ask you please if it's
like only available for like the
European citizens or it is like like a
non- European citizen can apply since
I'm like from Algeria from North North
Africa and if somehow like he that
person would like let's say he won the
prize he can for example apply for the
startup visa and like launch that
startup in that country he applied for
so this is my question thank you so much
thank you for your kind words Mina and
for your question you are more than
welcome to on board members even from
outside Europe uh this this is these are
really exciting news to spread the word
about the G challenge even outside of
the European countries uh it is uh a
fortune to have people from outside
Europe I can see also on the chat that
uh we do have uh another fellow
participant here who is from India so
there is absolutely no problem from the
counter Orion or the country leaving of
the participants right now for the Gaia
Challenge on the other hand uh we do
want to promote and motivate teams to uh
at the end establish a business entity
within the European Zone uh it doesn't
matter if the target market is going to
be outside Europe meaning doing business
internationally uh but we uh we're
promoting establishing uh business
entities within the European
Zone thank you so much I would uh also
ask you if like I can for example apply
with two ideas or like apply for just
one and if I can apply for like multiple
countries or just choose one of
them
um that's a that's a very that's a very
good question if I may ask in which
country you located right now I'm
located in Algeria in North
Africa okay okay uh so right now you're
uh you're uh you're going to submit as
an individual or you do have uh other
team members with you yes it is
individual okay so um please choose uh
one of the eight Regional challenge is
to submit your
idea uh so to uh get all the the perks
and benefits of this uh
participation in case you want to uh to
submit another idea then uh a good
proposition for you would be to take
part to another Regional uh Innovation
Challenge uh meaning to another
country's Innovation Challenge
if you find yourself that you have the
time to put and the effort to put uh so
to uh take part into two Regional
Innovation challenges with two different
ideas then I don't feel that would be a
problem in any case during the boot camp
trainings we will also try to formate
teams among the participants and also
try to develop uh initially the ideas so
to uh so you can find it more easy to
choose uh between which idea you would
like to move forward even more all right
thank you so much I got it now thank you
you're
welcome more questions do we have more
questions we got a similar question in
the chat uh Maria asks uh she's located
in Spain
and uh what what happens if she can only
establish the company in the country of
Spain there is a thank you Maria for the
question uh since Spain uh is inside the
European Zone I can find any reason why
this would be a problem so uh more than
welcome to establish a new business
entity uh within the Spanish territory
do we have other questions
the uh yeah St is asked asked if he can
use the same idea from the Green Tech
Challenge so thank you stus for the
question actually Gia is being inspired
by the Green Tech Challenge here in
months Beyond Innovation we are really
proud to say that uh We Are The
Innovation enablers and the the thinkers
Behind the Green Tech Challenge which is
uh an open Innovation program designed
for circular economy and green
technologies uh within the Greek market
and we run this program the last seven
years so we are really proud to uh to be
part of this green Challenge and be the
main organizers of this um open
Innovation program in Gree uh GAA is uh
the development of this uh Green Tech
Challenge and of course your it's uh
your idea from Green te challenge is
more than welcome also to the GAA
challenge hopefully we will have the
opportunity uh during the GAA challenge
to develop even more this idea so to
make it a solid business concept and
find your way to establishing a business
entity uh by the end of 2025 so uh long
story short yes you are more than
welcome to submit your idea from greench
challenge to Gaia Challenge
ALS any more
questions for now we don't have any
other
questions great uh in case you haven't
uh
uh write in the chat uh about your
country you're living right now uh
please do so uh it will help us
understand uh the Dynamics uh among the
countries who are going to uh uh who are
going to have the regional Innovation
challenges um I would like to thank you
for being present today in this final
info day for the ga challenge
uh we do uh keep in touch we will
contact you again or uh otherwise in
case you have H any questions or you
would like to uh follow up with some
kind of clarification regarding the the
challenge uh please do so uh our emails
and uh support are always active for
your
participation
uh we are wai waiting for your
application for one of the eight
Innovation challenges and we're
welcoming you in the boot camp trainings
were're about to start in may 2024 until
then uh we we will keep in touch through
emails and uh the contact support uh
from uh montis bi team uh will be here
for you uh thank you once again for
being here today and uh have a great
evening thank you all vasil we have two
more questions
now oh yeah uh we have a question if any
instruction
for potential uh mentors will be given
instructions to mentors
actually thank you for the question of
course um instructions and an not
boarding meeting will be set with the
mentors uh all over Europe uh so to
provide the best possible guidance to
this uh experience and also very we are
very thankful for the participations of
the mentors to the G
challenge thank
you sorry just a quick question just
clarification um did I get you right
that the application deadline is
extended to to May 12th right so not
April 17th then now it's May
12th exactly you're you're absolutely
right KRA the deadline has been exceeded
from April 17th to May 12th okay yeah
thank you very
much must we good Ser asks uh if some
countries are more competitive than
others uh if he could register to
another country instead of the first
one everyone is can choose freely in
which Regional Innovation competition
would like to participate H competition
on the other hand uh in most of the time
seems more than welcome because uh with
competition we tend to develop even more
our ideas and get better and better uh
you're free to choose in which region
Innovation Channel you would like to
participate here G and hopefully um your
idea uh will be a gr one so to be
promoted for phase two of the
program now we are
good okay so uh last time uh for once
again I would like to thank you all for
being here today uh have a great evening
and we'll be in touch thank you
all bye-bye yeah thank you very
