What specific physical assessments were conducted by the physical therapist?
-The physical therapist conducted manual muscle tests, range of motion assessments, reflex tests, and balance tests on the patient's lower extremities.
What exercises and treatments were part of the patient's therapy plan?
-The therapy plan included heat therapy with a hot pack, myofascial release massage, and specific exercises and stretches for the lower extremities, such as hip flexion, hip abduction, knee extension, and ankle pumps.
How often were the therapy sessions held and were there any adjustments made based on the patient's progress?
-The therapy sessions were held two to three times per week, and adjustments were made based on the patient's tolerance and progress.
What improvements did the patient report after completing the therapy sessions?

It highlights the global impact of low back pain and its various contributing factors such as muscle strain and nerve compression. The patient, a 70-year-old retired female, experiences pain that radiates to her left leg, disrupting her sleep and daily activities. Despite previous attempts at over-the-counter medication, her pain persists. The physical therapist performs a series of assessments, including muscle tests and range of motion, revealing the patient's functional limitations and pain levels. The treatment plan involves heat therapy, massage, and specific exercises to improve her condition. After six weeks, the patient reports significant improvement in pain levels and mobility, allowing her to resume her daily activities with less discomfort.
🤸♀️ The Importance of Therapy and Exercise for Back Pain Management

strength was graded three over five with
normal reflexes and intact
skin her arrangement motion inflection
extension lateral and medial rotation
was within functional ranges despite
some
stiffness the patient reported pain

also found single leg balance too
challenging so during this interview the
patient mentioned increasing fatigue
anxiety and discomfort fearing over
exertion might leave her bed ridden the
next day
so her treatment involved heat therapy
massage and specific exercises and
stretches for both of her lower
extremities she started with a 10-minute
hot pack on her lower back followed by
myof fascial release massage to reduce
pain and improve her movements she then
performed hip flexion hip abduction knee
extension ankle pumps with 10
repetitions each I additionally she did
some hamstring stretches and perform
stretches each held was 30 for 30
seconds and she repeated that three
times her therapy sessions were held two

exercises people can feel better and do
more it's important to keep doing this
exercises and watching out for any
problems to keep feeling good
working with this patient taught me that
lowback pain and radiculopathy can vary
greatly from person to person some days
are better than the others and finding
the right treatment can be challenging
with the patient appreciated the
physical therapy sessions there was
still setbacks because these conditions
are
complex what helps one person might not
help the others I found using techniques
like heat therapy
and myof fascial release techniques was
interesting and rewarding at first they
were challenging but with practice both
the patient and I saw improvements so
while these methods might not be
suitable for everyone they provided
beneficial in this case and are valuable
tools for future
patients this experience emphasized the
importance of being flexible and trying
different treatments to find what works
best for everyone with low back pain and
