[Applause]
you know the first women in the Bible
that preached the resurrection was women
that the first person to ever preach the
gospel was a woman it was a woman Mary
who carried the word did you know this
apparently I missed this apparently a
lot of us missed this that the first
person the first people or person
depending on who you ask to carry the
gospel to preach the gospel was a woman
in the Bible the very first gospel
preacher ever was a woman the first
first woman preacher was a woman that
was
unnamed she was the Samaritan woman that
Jesus was speaking to Mary Magdalene was
the first person to see Jesus after he
rose from the dead she told people that
Jesus lived he died and he rose again
and run to Mary who carried the word so
if women got to be quiet and can't
preach how in the heck did Mary carry
Jesus who was the word all those clips
and there are hundreds maybe even
thousands of others like that all of
them are incorrect the first people to
preach the first person the First
Peoples to preach the gospel were not
women I know it's fful today because
there is an attempt and there will
always be an attempt to do just what
Satan did incidentally enough to a woman
in the garden did God say and then if
you say well yes God did say well then
what's Satan's next Ploy that's not what
he meant that's not how we should
understand this and so we see that today
and it's always been that case the devil
is going to use scripture Twisted why
because he knows that there're going to
be people that are simply not going to
want to go and look at the scriptures
themselves or are just too lazy they
don't care they don't want to they have
no interest or maybe it's just that I
like it this way I like the new revised
version of The Gospel I like Bible 2.0
that allows me to do whatever it is that
I want to and that allows us to conform
to the world let me just say this
upfront and we'll go into their lessons
into their into their comments into
their points and we'll just see how
they're wrong but if anyone is preaching
to you telling you that the Bible is
okay with women being pastors leave that
person alone because what else are they
all distorted it's not to say that women
cannot preach meaning that women can't
give the gospel that's not what it's
saying there are people in the Bible
that gave what the word of God is and
they happen to be women but can they be
in an official capacity in an office
such as a deacon such as a pastor or an
elder the Bible is clear no so let's go
and look at some of these arguments
let's listen to them and then let's just
see how one I think absolutely laughable
but really how serious this is so
someone left this comment on a post we
did and I wouldn't normally address it
but I don't know I got time today yeah
we don't do that over here at
empowerment we don't do non-contextual
iseal readings of the word we understand
that you have to put the word in context
so what they're always going to say is
they're going to come back and say that
when the Bible is speaking about women
the several times the many times about
women you've got to keep it in context
and so because he's thrown out the word
isogo and in context well no he is
literally doing the very thing that he's
saying that others aren't doing he's
isoing Texas and he is going to take
them out of context as a matter of fact
not take them out of context but give
them a new context and we understand
that it was a woman Mary who carried the
word the only reason why we have access
to Jesus is because of a woman if if if
your heart skipped a beat if your mind
moved around and came back it's because
what he said was just absolutely
unbiblical the only reason that we have
access to Jesus is because of Mary no
I'm sorry but all things were made
through him including Mary it he was in
she was impregnated by the power of the
Holy Spirit if it wasn't Mary it would
have been Jenny it would have been Lisa
it would have been April it would have
been Sandy it would have been who
knows but God is going to get what he
wants to get done and so he just chose
Mary at that point in time oh by the way
thank God for Joseph for being a just
man not want to put her away but the
point is he didn't need either one of
them he could have done it with anyone
because he's God we don't have access to
Jesus because of Mary Mary was used Mary
was a chosen vessel Mary also needed to
have her sins forgiven and she had to
confess him as Lord as Savior which she
did and it was a woman who first
preached the gospel the good news of the
resurrection of Jesus so we believe
fully in God's ability to use half the
population of the world we're going to
come back to that again it was a woman
who first preached the gospel now they
can't get their story straight was it
the woman at the wh or was it the women
or the woman at the tune half the
population of the world to bring other
people into a loving growing
life-changing relationship with himself
and I know that there are plenty of
churches that believe differently that
choose to interpret the word differently
but when you come to empowerment just
know that Pastor Fingal is as much the
pastor of our church as I am so here you
have where you've got maybe this a
husband and wife couple what you see
more and more you see husband and wife
couples and because a husband wife
couple what's the husband going to do
what the same thing the wife is going to
do twist the scriptures to make so that
she can fit uh but we've got a problem
we literally have qualifications for
pastors but we'll come to that in a
little bit and I came across this
particular gentleman who says it
passionately but he says it passionately
yet ignorantly stop using script ures to
kill people we want to run over there
where Paul said women be quiet in the
church well after you run over there and
get that run to the Old Testament and
look at Deborah and look at Esther and
look at junked who saved Moses and look
at shiffer and po who made sure the boys
didn't die in Egypt and run to Mary who
carried the word so if women got to be
quiet and can't preach how in the heck
did Mary carry Jesus who was the word
Mary carried the word no no Mary was
used by God to do this it's not that
that and and by the way this is not Mary
preaching the gospel that's number one
it's a silly argument how C how is it
she can carry Jesus or carry the word
but not preach the word couple of things
one no one is saying that she can't give
the gospel she can't function in a
particular capacity which is why you
don't see any women functioning in these
official capacities in the church church
so let's get away from this little silly
argument that she carried the word and
so if Mary could carry the word well
then other women can too I'm sorry are
other women giving birth to babies while
still being a virgin no so women can't
do what Mary did because the Holy Spirit
isn't doing in them what he did in Mary
and that was for one specific time for
one specific purpose Mary fulfilled her
her role stop making her out to be more
than what she is and stop saying that
people are hurting people with the
scriptures as Paul says am I your enemy
because I tell you the truth the truth
is women cannot function in that
capacity and like the other brother said
earlier that we're we're limiting half
of the population well first of all far
less than half of the population are
qualified to actually preach not just
women but men half the population can't
preach because most of the population
isn't even save and then even in that
half of the Christian population can't
preach because they're not qualified
whether it be men or women now I want to
address this issue of Deborah also
Deborah was given in this position to do
at the shame of Israel that part is
clear as a matter of fact she makes that
statement to Barack and what I want to
show you guys is though Deborah did her
job notice this in Hebrews 11 we are
going over the what we call the faith
Hall of Fame those whose faith is credit
to them notice in Hebrews
11:32 and what more shall I say for time
will fail me if I tell of Gideon Barack
Samson and jeffi do you know who Barack
is Barack is the man who Deborah told to
why isn't Deborah's name here now we've
got rahab's name here go up a little
further we have rahab's name but we
instead of seeing Deborah's name here we
see Barack is that a slight against uh
Deborah no it's not but let's make sure
that we keep Deborah in her proper place
her proper perspective she is not if she
were around during the New Testament
time she could not be a pastor she could
not be an elder that part should not
Escape you guys stop letting people come
up with some sort of fanciful ways to
kind of go behind what the scriptures
say the only person who showed up to the
tomb when he got
up was a woman that nobody liked and
Jesus had to tell the
woman who was woke cuz the brothers were
sleep told the woman come here baby do
me a favor
go tell Pete and them I'm
woke so can I just say this this is
going to make a lot of people mad cuz
you know everybody has this debate about
whether or not women should be in
Ministry I have an argument that the
first person to ever preach the gospel
was a woman now the irony of all of this
is that this is a man who has told women
to shh hush quiet silence in the name of
Jesus yeah stop her
sh hush hush
silence in the name of Jesus but I want
to deal with something that you're going
to keep hearing about women preaching
the gospel the first ones to preach the
gospel I'll come back to that first ones
preach the gospel in a second but at the
tomb what happened first Peter 2 a woman
AR to remain in silence it's a text out
of context because when God said it the
women at the time at the church of
Corinth and the other churches they were
practicing prostitution outside of the
church now let's go to 1 Timothy 2:12
and let's look at something Paul writes
this letter it's a pastoral epistle he's
writing to Timothy two letters to
Timothy as well as to Titus now what the
if we're going to keep things in context
and we're going to see what's happening
we find out that these letters that are
being sent around to Colossians and so
forth they are also to be disseminated
amongst the other churches so what Paul
is telling Timothy and Titus as well as
others in some of these churches they
are intended for circulation because
they are for training now with Titus and
Timothy specifically he's teaching them
how to plant churches and how to choose
Elders we'll look at his qualifications
for those that he chooses to be Elders
you'll notice they're male not female
they have a XY chromosomal makeup Paul
doesn't care what these people these
guys who don't know the scriptures who
have not been moved by the spirit to say
so he does care what they're saying he
is being led by the Lord and he tells
Paul I mean sorry he tells pet pet or
Timothy tells him this he says I do not
allow a woman to teach or exercise
authority over a man she cannot teach
over a man she cannot exercise authority
over man now some are going to say well
wait wait a second what about uh
Priscilla didn't she teach over a man
did she first of all we don't know what
Priscilla said at all if anything are
they just linked together maybe she said
something but who was she there with she
was there with her husband we don't know
to what degree and what amount Priscilla
said or Aquilla said but she certainly
was not teaching over Apollos and she
certainly was not exercising authority
over paus stop letting people tell you
more or as a brother said isoing into a
text and then we talk about context well
what's the context of First Timothy well
let's continue for it was Adam who was
first created and then
Eve when he gives a reason for why the
woman cannot EX exercise Authority or
teach over men he didn't say what he
just said because the women were doing
this or this was happening in that
culture that's not what Paul went to
Paul said for it was Adam I'm sorry it
was yeah Adam who was first created and
then Eve and it was Eve who was deceived
and then Adam fell into transgression
Paul could have simply because he was
there he understand the context he could
have simply stated what the context was
what was happening in that time and they
were coming in deceiving the men so God
says for a season I need the women to be
quiet so I can talk to the men did Paul
say that for a season well that's
classic isoing he didn't say anything
like that for just this moment for just
this brief period if it was just for
this brief period and not for the rest
of the church why then do we have this
in the cannon he did not mean for women
in
2024 to be silenced in the Church of God
and how do I know because when Jesus got
out of the grave
Peter and John was sleep it was a woman
named Mary the First Gospel message was
preached by a woman because Jesus said
Mary go tell my disciples and Peter that
I'm alive why do they keep saying that
Peter and John were asleep the Bible
doesn't say if they were as sleep or not
the Bible does say that at all you want
to demean them which is funny why would
you ever want to demean the actual
Apostles just for the sake of uplifting
something that's not scriptural so let's
go ahead and deal with this issue about
the First Gospel preachers being a woman
either Mary or the woman at the well
let's first go to uh Mary matter of fact
I'm sorry I'm sorry let's go to woman at
the well first let's go to woman at the
well first first let's go to John
chapter 4 Jesus is speaking this woman
now she's trying to figure out who he is
Jesus says to her I am he EO I'm the one
that you that you're talking about I'm
that person I'm the Messiah and so what
does she do so the woman left her water
pot and went to the city and said to the
men come see a man who told me all the
things that I have done this is not the
Christ is it they went out of the city
and were coming to him so now let's drop
down and let's go see what the men say
when they show up from that City many of
the Samaritans believed in him because
of the word of the woman who testified
he told me all the things that I have
done so when the Samaritans came to
Jesus they were asked asking him to stay
with them and he stayed there two days
many more believed because of his word
and they were saying to the woman it is
no longer because of what you said that
we believe for we heard for ourselves
and know that this is the one indeed the
savior of the world couple of things did
she say that he was the savior of the
world now she pontificated she
questioned she thought he told me
everything is this the Messiah is this
the one and so they believed what she
said and they went investigated but did
she give the gospel no she did not they
understand that the Messiah is coming
but there was no talk about at this
point in time about repentance she
didn't give that she didn't give the a
complete gospel now are we saying that
what she said was wrong no no but let's
stop making her out to be the greatest
preacher since uh this side of of
Spurgeon or Edwards or whomever else
she's not she was told about her past
and she went and told other people in
other words hey come see this man that
I've met he told me everything could
this possibly be the Messiah did she say
some other things we don't know we don't
know maybe she did give a Full Gospel
makes you wonder and I'll get get that a
second but makes you wonder how could
she have given a Full Gospel at this
point in time well we're going to find
out how she could have if indeed she did
but the Bible didn't say she did now
what happens the angel tells them that
he is not here come see where he lays
later they do come back and they and and
Jesus tells them go tell the disciples
but what did they tell the disciples to
do that Jesus is
risen is that the gospel well that's
part of the Gospel let's just even say
that is the gospel Jesus is not sending
them to go be my to be my Apostles my
disciples that's not what Jesus did if
you're going to say that the women were
the first to preach the gospel we've got
a problem as a matter of fact you guys
can do this just go
uh do a word search do it on your
computer if you got a concordance or
just look up in the scriptures where you
know the gospel is preached we're going
to find places like oh I don't know
Roman like Luke 9:6 departing they that
is the disciples began going throughout
the villages what were the disciples
doing preaching the gospel and healing
everywhere so my question is this does
that precede what happened at the tomb
sure it does so you cannot say that the
first people to preach the gospel were
women no it it it's not that is not the
case Jesus was preaching the gospel yeah
but that's Jesus what about John John
came preparing the way John said repent
for the king of heav at hand John was he
preaching the gospel I don't know but
certainly the gospel was preached long
before Jesus death burial and
Resurrection they knew what was going to
happen and so they preached that the
kingdom of God is is at hand that they
knew what was going to happen and they
preached that that's what the Bible says
the good news now when man Mary or the
other ladies are told to go tell someone
the word yalon is not there they did not
there's no instruction no description
said that they were told or they were
telling the gospel so we need to move
away from that if anyone is going to say
something so backwards so wrong so
unscriptural without any support that's
a person that you need to move away from
that's a person you don't need to listen
to Because if you're going to twist the
scriptures for this you'll twist it for
anything now before I move forward I
want want to make it clear no one is
saying nor should anyone ever say that
women cannot be used or women are not
useful women are part of the body and so
they will be used they just won't be
used as pastors as a matter of fact the
overwhelming majority of people in the
body won't be used as pastors won't be
used as teachers won't be used in that
official capacity but they're still just
as honorable of a position in the body
as the pastor now there's a stricter
kind of nation and judgment against the
pastor and the teacher and so therefore
uh you probably don't want that position
anyway but we're not saying no one is
saying that women cannot be used women
can't give the gospel someone needs to
hear the gospel wait a minute there's no
man around let me go find a man because
I a woman and I can't I can't give the
gospel no one saying that give the
gospel if someone is in error and you're
they're trying to figure that and you
can lend your word you're not
functioning as a teacher you're not
teaching over the man you're not
usurping Authority you're just doing
your job as a as a believer but in this
capacity Paul once ordered now some are
going to say well it was for that time
that context there's a couple problems
with that couple problems that and I'll
address in a second because even people
who seem to be biblically sound or at
least for the most part of sound still
fall into this area what about this bit
about not allowing a woman to teach well
that's weird cuz Paul had a woman named
Priscilla teach the great preacher named
Apollos notice what he's doing Priscilla
taught
Apollos is that correct no Priscilla and
Aquilla or Aquilla and Priscilla pulled
apollis to the side and corrected him
gave him a full understanding what did
Priscilla say to
Apollos anyone no one can tell us
because we don't know we don't know how
again we don't know how much she said we
don't know how much her husband said but
what we want to do often times is
disregard her husband and give her the
role of leadership that's not what we
see there at all but now I'm
disappointed in how he adds some things
to this as well so what's going on here
but what's the name of the movie where
Barbara stran plays that young Jewish
woman yent right go watch the movie yent
and what you learn is Young Jewish women
were not allowed to get an education
so Paul is essentially saying ladies if
you've not had an education don't
presume to be a teacher is that what
that says is that he should be he should
be ashamed of himself and I respect him
but to say ladies if you haven't had an
education don't presume to be
teachers is that same thing stated for
men you have to have an education to be
teachers but obviously those women who
did get an education Paul used his
teachers as he used Priscilla to teach
the great preacher Apollo this is so bad
so backwards so just ridiculous for him
to say so we don't know what these
people's background is and know by the
way what education did the disciples
have what was their what was their
education now they walked with Jesus so
that's enough but what about the others
there are people in the Bible that we
see that are that are being used we have
no idea what their education was but
they are learning they're doing what the
Bible tells them to do and still Paul as
well as the rest of the Bible Li certain
offices to men now the question that
someone going to say well wait a second
what about what was happening in that
Society what was happening in Ephesus
Paul writes his letter to Timothy who at
the time is in Ephesus so this is only
applying to Ephesus the problem with
that is when he writes his letter to the
church in Ephesus he doesn't mention
this Paul doesn't bring this up why is
that why is that cliff and other people
will bring up something that the Bible
doesn't bring up were there issues in
the church at Ephesus well yes there
were issues in the Church of Corinth
there were also issues in the Church of
Philipp there are also issues in issues
in the church in all of them Paul
doesn't bring this up and say it's only
specific to the church at Ephesus or
what about the church in Corinth because
he also makes the same statement to the
to the church specifically in the letter
to the church in Corinthians so are we
saying these are two issues that are
happening only in these two places and
it only applies there it doesn't apply
anywhere else well if you're going to
say the reason was because women were
out of order they were worshiping these
fertility gods and they were all had all
these different things happening is that
happening now the same thing that you're
saying the reason for Paul forbidding
women to
preach aren't the same things happening
now they are so maybe it still applies
but Paul wasn't doing that because of
the because of the economy that we had
there because of the con the situation
Paul was doing so because that was what
it was going to be from the beginning
remember this is why Paul hearkens back
to Adam and Eve in their fall and what
does God say
God said that her desire will be for
that man but he shall rule over you he
didn't change that he didn't abdicate
that those things are still in place
even in the church who leads the the
household the man just like he leads the
body which Paul brings this up as a
qualifications notice what he says it is
a trustworthy statement If any man
aspires to the office of overseer now
the word man we can't use to say it's a
male because it's the Greek word Tis so
we're not saying if this means just
anyone a person but then when he says he
must be the husband of one wife the word
is mikas Andra which is a a woman onom
man that man part that male part Andra
that means something they have to be a
male and then he also speaks about him
managing his household this is office is
relegated to that of a woman and so when
Paul says to keep silent in the church
he means not that they can't ever say
any words because it just said in in in
1 Corinthians 11 that when she is given
a revelation or uttering or informing or
telling that's what the word prophesied
mean that she has to do it in a certain
in a certain way but we can't so we
can't come back that she has to be
totally silent his point is to keep
silent in terms of trying to lead to
teach or whatever she has her she has a
limit on what she can do now those are
going to say well that's because the
women were out of order so much so
that's why this prohibition was there
against women but most of the disorder
that we see in the church Paul is
confronting men
so get away from people making up things
about what the current Society was the
situation if that were the case then
just about everything in the Bible we
need to take with a grain of salt
because the the situation the economy
the culture was vastly different then
than it is today the reason for these
qualifications are simple and they are
clear and if anyone wants to violate
First Corinthians 4:6 that is in any way
exceeding what is written leave those
people alone I don't care if you think
that they have been trustworthy in the
past maybe someone like Cliff needs to
to stick with the apologetic side but
this he's wrong as wrong can be and
others who will also agree with that
they are just wrong so can a woman
preach sure she can can she be in the
office functioning officially as a
preacher a pastor an elder a deacon no
she cannot can she give the gospel yes
she can can she give her testimony yes
she can can she worship can she praise
in public can she pray in public yes she
can but can she lead men no she cannot
can she be over the body no she cannot
can she even do so even if another man
is her husband or her father and give
her covering no she cannot because
there's no scripture for that why not
just simply follow what the word says
let that be enough and if that means
that you can't be a pastor then you
can't be a pastor that's fine because
guess what that's just simply not the
role that God has placed you to be amen
oh yes
