all right guys so the reviews for black
myth Wukong are in and it's actually
looking way better than I thought
currently sitting at 82 out of a 100 on
Metacritic and to be honest given the
media push back that this game has
suffered it's actually looking really
awesome I gen was forced to pretty much
give it a great there's other news
outlets that said it's pretty much a
masterpiece and everything that I've
seen so far in all of these previews
makes me even more excited for the game
so today we're going to take a look at
most of the biggest reviews out there
including the ones that were very
positive as well as others that were
more on the negative side plus a few
really bad nonsensical takes that I
can't help but laugh
at so we're going to cover all of that
then more in this video starting with
this gaming bolt review right here which
mentions that after spending hours with
the game black myth Wukong made me
realize that not only does it deliver on
its initial promises but actually
exceeds it by quite a significant margin
and to the point that they actually gave
the game a fullon 10 out of 10 fullon
Masterpiece with only one negative being
listed which is the lack of an in-game
map and that is curious because I
noticed that other media Outlets also
mention this and specifically I in its
review mentioned that the game maps are
way too big and way too crammed with
Secrets not to feature a mini map which
actually sounds like a huge positive to
me because initial reports mentioned
that the game design is a lot more
linear than we got used to but lo and
behold once they got to play the game
they noticed that there are actually
some big areas and the game does open up
so to me that just sounds like a huge
positive let me know Down Below in the
comments does it sound the same to you I
mean having huge maps with a lot of
stuff in it and having it all secret and
do you needing to go in and explore to
me just sounds way better in the noisy
pixel review they mentioned how each of
the seven areas they played into is huge
and the brand cring pads allow you to
head into different directions and see
what happens there's little to no
Direction but you quickly get used to
being lost and he also goes on to
further explain how at some point he got
knocked out and captured in some kind of
prison which sounds freaking awesome and
I'm pretty sure that this specific scene
right here we haven't seen before this
seems to be some new kind of map I don't
recall having any of the preview
showcasing it and it also appears to be
within the first starting chapters
according to noisy pixel and there are
some other things that most Medias agree
on especially in terms of the fluidity
and the fun of the combat system
in-depth skill tree brilliant visuals
and also an excellent soundtrack plus a
vast variety of boss fights and even IGN
mentioned how there's a huge anime
diversity in this game that being said
the way the game plays seems to be not
so close to traditional from softer
formula but rather more like a
traditional action game maybe even
closer to biona rather than than
anything so it seems that it's fast
action quick skills good reactions but
also with some deliberate action as well
as you do need to know when to use your
spells especially since it seems that
Mana is going to be a very hard to come
by resource it's very hard to regenerate
and since most of your spells actually
cost that you have to be careful about
when during the boss fight you get to
use it also unlike Souls games you don't
have the typical penalties for dying for
example which only responds you at the
nearest checkpoint and previously in the
previews it was mentioned that you also
lose a bit of will but yeah it seems
that nobody ever mentioned that in the
reviews so maybe some kind of change in
the full game but we don't know that
another one is that there's no shared
currency to leveling up stats and also
purchasing items or upgrades so in alen
ring we had the runes while it seems
that we're going to have different sort
of currencies for each different thing
we know that Sparks are the ones that we
have to invest into the skill points but
for purchasing and upgrades we're going
to have a different currency so it
doesn't overlap making it a bit easier
most previewers in fact agreed that you
have to be smart about using these
spells because they cost mana and it's
kind of hard to restore Mana in this
game likely maybe to prevent spamming
the strongest attacks and just steamroll
through all enemies so in this case you
might want to hold them out for a bit
later into the fight instead of wasting
them at the start and then having an
unsuccessful run so for example we can
see some of these skill sh trees in
action in the game science review there
are multiple of them including
Foundation staff stances mysticism
alteration and there's also finally the
Transformations like for example we've
seen alteration deals with some of the
active abilities like the cloud step and
we also saw one of its upgrades called
Gallup which increases the movement
speed during that animation but there
are multiple of them actually we can see
the stances over here as well also
feature their own specific skill trees
so we can see once again smash pillar
and thrust stance there are some
upgrades for it including acceleration
which is an upgrade for the smash stance
this is just going to increase the
health recovery upon consuming a focus
point which actually sounds interesting
it seems that there's going to be a way
to regenerate HP when attacking uh
there's another one over here well a
couple of them one is force and bound
which enables sprinting while charging
maybe that's the ability where we see
Wukong sprinting and charging up the
staff as we've seen in many of the
previews Plus on the side we also see
focused attack two three and four so it
starts with two Focus points I guess but
then as we progress in the skill tree we
can gain up to three and then four Focus
points which um yeah we didn't know from
any of the gam playay we always saw that
the maximum possible was three Focus
points onto that stance bar well it
seems that we can go all the way up to
four which means even more damage this
is basically the ones that we spend to
cast heavy attacks another one we've
seen is foundation and the way this
looks is as if it deals with more of
like passive abilities so we can see
survival featuring the icons for health
some for the stamina and maybe a few
more in there that might be related to
other sort of passive effects maybe
defenses and whatnot in the mysticism we
also see immobilize so it seems that it
has its own separate section and it's
not going to be alteration so this also
features a um 2 4 6 s skills in total
with some unlockable at level 30 and
then level 35 um plus of course many
many more in here even like the
Transformations do feature their own
skill tree including one called Moon
roome so each taken level moderately
increases the damage of the next attack
after a perfect Dodge and looking at
some of these skills it seems that this
is not the only one which can hold up to
multiple levels so you can level these
up to three times but looking here at
the bottom there are some that go all
the way to five or more times again
leveling up with you and locking as you
level up the game so plenty of skill
points going around possibly something
that will require a lot of investment to
fully max out your character meaning
that a new game plus feature becomes
even more important in a game like this
when you can max out so many things and
gain so much power um another thing that
was mentioned is that yeah it is more
accessible it is easier to get into the
combat and the groove of the combat of
black myth Wukong however that doesn't
mean that it's going to be easy for
example in the case of iard again they
did mention that there were many boss
fights that maybe felt even more
difficult than ones from Elden ring but
it always felt fair when coming up with
a proper strategy to defeat them
specifically in terms of looking out for
Windows of opportunity knowing when to
time their attacks and also looking out
for incoming attacks knowing when to
Dodge and knowing when to well Parry in
this case because there are some
abilities that can do that and speaking
of some abilities we do have some more
information on those two including the
immobilized The Rock Solid and so on
bosses also seem to have different
unique effects like Guang ma right here
which I'm pretty sure I'm pronouncing
completely wrong seems to cast a bunch
of tentacles and also other poison
related abilities it seems that this
builds upon the character as there's a
bar a green one to the right side which
slowly fills up and once it reached Max
completion it also caused a similar
effect on well beneath the actual HP bar
of the player character so supposedly
this is going to be a poisonous effect
we've also seen a dual boss fight
against these two individuals right here
which seems pretty interesting we
haven't seen a tag team of bosses before
or at the very least that I remember of
and it does look like one of them also
smashes through some of the
environmental pieces so yeah this is
probably something that might play out
with some kind of mechanic that we have
to be careful about so we do have a few
repeats as well like for example some of
the Frog bosses do come with different
Elemental effects they do fight
differently but for the most part it's
kind of the same looking aspect like the
one that I like the most from the
preview definitely seems to be this one
which uses electricity Sparks and they
do tend to move around a lot at least
from some of the previews and also from
the trailer we've seen this character
which initially we didn't know the
significance off well it seems it's
actually a boss fight and it's called
the first prince of flowing Sands I'm
pretty sure that it's like this one from
the trailer so we can see there's a
fight in what appears to be some kind of
cave in that desert region so immobilize
once again was mentioned to be an
absolutely Beast of a spell to have
according to IGN this was also unlocked
very early in the game so it seems that
just like in the previews it's probably
going to be super op and they also
mentioned that there are skills that can
further upgrade that we also had the
cloud step a preview of that this turns
you invisible and leaves behind the
decoy but this also lets you follow up
with a surprise attack which gains bonus
damage plus Rock Solid we talked about
this before it briefly turns you into
stone and it makes enemy attacks to
bounce off you which is a good way to
counter them we've also seen more
details of Ring of Fire and how it
functions this is that barrier of fire
that we circle around us but this can
also provide some Health Restoration
plus it can buff any stat altering
drinks while we stay inside of it and of
course a pla of many another one of the
abilities which seems to be great at
ganging up on targets but nobody
mentioned any other new abilities that
we haven't seen before we do however
have more information on transformation
and spirit skills so it seems that
Transformations are different than the
spirit skills so for example that fiery
wolf for that is a transformation
instead of a spirit skill which are the
ones we absorb from defeating bosses so
the fiery wolf form is something that we
can gain very early by defeating an
enemy which is going to unlock it on our
skill bar this does not cost any Mana
but instead has a lengthy cool down and
it has some special moves that will use
its own unique Focus meter that we can
see charging right here on the side like
for example once the focus is filled you
can perform the this heavier attack
which sets the enemies on fire and from
looking at this HP bar it seems that it
deals some pretty respectable damage
over time too now Spirit skills is the
other component this is the one that we
get from absorbing bosses as we've
talked about before and this is mostly a
on hit type of skill so this explains
why we see Wukong fading in and out of
these many forms instantly in most of
the shots for example like we have a
couple of new ones there's this new frog
form that we haven't seen before we also
have this larger creature sort of like a
Minotaur that can be seen charging
through enemies which um could be
particularly useful against larger
groups of enemies speaking of said
Spirits we do have them as equipable
items there's actually a slot in our
items menu that lets us swap between
them so we can see multiple of them that
have been unlocked at this stage and
they also come in different Rarities so
one of them is epic and the ones in blue
I'm going to assume are just rare I do
wonder if it goes lower than that plus
they also come with a cheat cost in this
case for the epics all seem to feature a
high cheat cost so something maybe that
can be controlled later down the line
plus it appears we can also gain some
bonuses from them like the wondering
white which is one of those bosses we
see fights off very often gives a
considerable increase in defenses when
having this may be activated so another
interesting piece of information is on
the healing Gord we finally have a
full-on translation of how it looks like
it seems that it's actually an item with
multiple slots over here that might
imply some kind of collection and
according to game science they are
agradable with different drinks and
different soaks as we can see them
providing different effects so for
example this one um provides each sip to
recover 36% of maximum health and older
the wine the greater the recovery so
maybe older wines will provide a better
HP regen but this also recovers more
Health upon using the gour as an
upgraded effect and we can see it has
eight levels of upgrades costing one
awaken wine warm each which yeah the
user had insufficient material of
probably because they had the two first
levels already up speaking of weapons
and crafting we do have a screen of that
or at the very least of crafting the
weapons it seems that it comes in some
kind of branching tree starting with the
default I believe staff that we have at
the start and it does seem that the
increas in quality as well as Rarity so
Kung Jin stuff is an epic variant with
70 attack 6% critical hit chance and the
punishing downpour effect executes
Thunder damage to the enemy instead of
area damage which sounds really
interesting changing up attacks with
such unique effect but it does cost a
legendary sort of anther resource
refined iron sand Yogi core and will we
also seem to yeah expand will on this
which is basically that um XP resource
we talked about before so not sure what
that is about again it doesn't seem to
act most like the Rune system in alen
ring but there are some similarities
nonetheless now we also have some
information on how the game looks and
feels of course it doesn't come without
down down sides the game looks
absolutely gorgeous but at the cost of
having some really poor performance
actually across the board many reviewers
have mentioned how the performance was
less than stellar and at times that the
game barely holds it together and I mean
yeah this is something that was done on
like high-end machines so you can only
imagine how it's going to pan out on the
PlayStation 5 which kind of gets me a
bit worried as one of the other reviews
also pointed out that there are indeed
some concerns about how this will play
out on the PlayStation 5 specifically in
the P Square um review they did mention
this however they also mentioned that on
their I 9 32 gigs of RAM and 380 PC the
game easily ran on high settings with a
frame rate surpassing 60fps so maybe PC
will have it better than the consoles
but now there were some other issues
being pointed out especially in terms of
the dialogues and especially the voice
dubs especially in English it seems that
there's quite a bit of mismatch and it
doesn't always sound right so maybe
playing with a Chinese localization
might sound way better also no fully
localized translations of all menu
entries just yet some of the menu
entries seem to have been kept in
Chinese maybe some kind of oversight so
probably or hopefully something that
gets fixed by the time the game comes
out I would imagine so but if these are
the biggest issues that's still quite a
positive outlook because bugs like these
can easily be flashed out not bad game
game design or boring gameplay which
seems to not be the case with Blackmouth
Wukong by all accounts it looks like a
very fun fluid game that also looks
gorgeous which is exactly what we wanted
personally that's what I wanted with a
ton of exploration Secrets upgrades
exactly what I wanted to sign up for so
