if being in your house makes you
stressed and you think you might have
too much stuff you probably do so these
are some signs that you might have too
much stuff and it's time to get rid of
some
crap you're kind of scared of your stuff
if you walk in your house after A Hard
Day's work and you don't really feel
calm in fact it kind of makes you a
little bit stressed out and you've ever
strongly considered just turning around
and walking out then you probably have
too much stuff once I got rid of a bunch
of the crap that has been in my house it
really changed how I felt on a
day-to-day basis I could walk into a
room and feel relax reled feel calm when
it's open it's bright it's clean because
there's not a bunch of stuff everywhere
if the idea of like going through your
closet or decluttering a single cabinet
is kind of daunting to you and you're a
little bit worried about it you might
have been kind of putting it off for a
while that might be a sign that you have
too much stuff you've been debating
inviting a friend over to help out cuz
it just sounds like a lot so it might
actually be a good idea to ask that
friend over and get rid of a bunch of it
because they might have no emotional
attachment to it it shouldn't be that
big of a deal it shouldn't stress you
out to open up your closet it's just
stuff you kind of hate people not like
that you hate when they drop by
unexpectedly because when they do and
you don't have 3 hours to pull your
house together clean up shove all the
stuff underneath the bed then you're
slightly embarrassed when people come
over and you you like don't feel all
that comfortable cuz your house is kind
of wreck I honestly used to hate that we
really didn't have a lot of people over
cuz we had so much stuff everywhere
things were always kind of a little bit
messy even when they were kind of clean
we just had so much stuff that it looked
messy but since we have started getting
rid of a bunch of crap and using a bunch
of simple habits for a clutter-free home
check out this video after it's been
amazing people can stop by and I don't
care at all in fact it's kind of nice it
literally makes our relationships better
when we get rid of a bunch of stuff you
consistently lose things I used to lose
stuff all the time I've lost about six
wallets which is a real pain I used to
lose my keys I'd lose things like every
single day even clothes I had like a few
shirts that I loved and I would never
seem to like know where they were and
then I would end up having to wear like
stuff that I didn't really like all that
much well once I got rid of a bunch of
stuff and I actually took time to find a
home for everything I stopped losing a
bunch of things cuz everything had a
home there weren't like piles of stuff
everywhere that things would get stuck
underneath the counters were always
clear and now I don't really lose much
stuff unless uh unless my daughter takes
it and hides it places which actually
does happen a surprising amount by the
way I'm giving away $1,000 to someone
who subscribes before I hit half a
million subscribers which will hopefully
be soon so if you're not subscribed
already don't forget to subscribe you
can also drop a like really helps the
video let's carry off your counters are
never clean you know when you walk in
the door and you just put some stuff
down on the counter and then you do that
for another like 47 days in a row and
suddenly you can't see your kitchen
table anymore well if that's you and you
always have stuff on your flat surfaces
whether that's the the kitchen counters
or the dining room table then you
probably have too much stuff because if
it's living on there for weeks on end
and you're not using it then you
probably don't need it it's super
stressful but also a really hard habit
to change is to stop putting stuff down
on every flat surface anywhere
throughout your house but the solution
to this is actually to use and need
everything that you have and in order to
do that you have to get rid of a bunch
of stuff you clean on Saturdays it used
to take us an entire day to clean our
house we'd have to take the good part of
a Saturday to kind of even just get
things back to Baseline so if that is
you and you have to take a lot of time
to clean your house then you probably
have too much stuff because the less you
have the less ends up getting left
around the less you have to pick up the
less things there are to dust everything
is faster the less is to clean which
leads into the next point which is the
17 minute rule if you can't clean up a
room or probably most of your house in
like 17 minutes which is completely
random number I just made up then you
probably have too much stuff in fact we
can do kind of a nightly reset in about
5 minutes where we can pick up
everything pretty much throughout our
house including our kids toys in like 5
to 10 minutes tops something that we
never used to be able to do even when it
was just the two of us years ago and we
had a bunch more stuff you're part of
the 47% although that number could be
higher could be lower I found a bunch of
different stats but regardless a lot of
people cannot actually Park their car
inside of their garage cuz it is just
filled with stuff it becomes a Dumping
Ground you can't actually use it for its
intended purpose so if that's you and
you can't actually Park in your garage
you can't walk through your basement
your attic is just a train wreck that
you Chuck stuff into like the Seven
Dwarves then you probably have too much
stuff you don't know what's underneath
your bed if you've run out of storage so
much that you're just shoving stuff
underneath your bed and you don't
actually remember what's under there and
you you definitely don't use it and you
probably got too much stuff now that
being said there is nothing wrong with
storing stuff underneath your bed it can
be a good place to store stuff we keep
some stuff under there but it shouldn't
just be like an attic where you put
stuff under there and then you never see
it again and it just clogs up the sides
and it starts spilling out just make
sure you actually use it all you
actually have to get rid of things in
order to fit more things inside of your
closet although something I probably
should put in here as a light cuz I just
had to use
this anyways this is the problem I used
to have where I literally couldn't shove
more stuff into my closet every time I
bought something i' have to think about
getting rid of stuff though I usually
didn't I just like shoved it in thicker
and yet I didn't wear about 80% of my
stuff 80% of the times I really just
wore 20% of my things I had a few things
that I really loved and the rest just
kind of just kept building up kept
building up getting shoved to the back
if you are doing that same thing then
you probably have too much stuff maybe a
shopping addiction as well I've since
moved down
to way less stuff and I got to tell you
I really like all of it
you have some credit card debt most
people use credit cards and especially
get into credit card debt to buy stuff
that they can't afford with literally
money that they do not have to impress
people they don't even like so if you
have Consumer Debt because you can't
stop buying things then you probably
have too many things from All That Bind
of things so it might be time to ditch
the credit card might be time to take a
spending fast to watch some videos on
Frugal Living it's not always enough to
just get rid of stuff you actually have
to stop the source of the stuff coming
into your house and then you can start
getting rid of stuff without it just
replenishing and then like 6 months
later you're in the exact same boat got
to stop it at the source you have
options for everything if you have six
jackets and 17 pairs of shoes and 12
different fuzzy blankets then you
probably have too much stuff you can
either have options or you can have
freedom but it is extremely hard to have
both I found freedom in Simplicity and
owning less things having more is not
always better because then you have to
choose between them instead you want to
have this kind of idea of less but
better which I really live my life by
and that can mean just getting rid of
everything that's not your favorite in
whatever category that is for you that
you have way too many options in you
don't have systems if you don't have
systems set up around keeping your home
clutter-free then you're probably going
to have a bunch of stuff if you don't
have systems for buying things maybe
it's using the 7-Day rule the 30-day
rule the onein one out rule all these
different rules of of minimalism and
clutter-free living that I've talked
about then you're going to have a really
hard time getting to and maintaining a
clutter-free home and you probably have
too much stuff if you don't have any
parameters of what belongs in your house
what you'll buy any of that if you're
just out there doing whatever then most
of us are instinctively going to buy too
much stuff and in turn our houses are
messy we end up needing bigger houses
which cost more money so we work more
and then we buy more stuff to make up
for this feeling and it's just like a
terrible cycle and that leads into the
next point which is if you feel like you
have too much stuff then you probably
have too much stuff like I would trust
that like instinctively I think we all
know so if you think you have too much
then do something about it take one room
fill up a box do something and start
this journey towards a more simple life
