Outlines
🌏 Belief in God and the Last Day in the Quran
Sam Garens discusses the concept of belief in God and the Last Day, as found in the Quran. He emphasizes the importance of focusing on the fundamentals amidst the chaos of life and societal collapse. Garens points out that belief in God and the Last Day is a common thread across various cultures and religions, not just within Islam, Christianity, or Judaism. He also mentions the availability of his translation of the Quran and its notes online, which can be accessed through mobile devices, thereby connecting to the 'West' in terms of technology. The discussion aims to simplify the understanding of belief by returning to the Quran's teachings and distinguishing between true believers and those who may claim to be believers but do not truly accept the concept of divine judgment.
📚 The Day of Truth and the Relevance of Sectarianism
In this paragraph, Garens delves into the implications of the Day of Truth, suggesting that sectarian disputes and differences in doctrine will be rendered insignificant on that day. He argues that the belief in God and the Last Day is a belief in a time of divine judgment where good deeds are rewarded and bad deeds are punished. Garens criticizes those who deny the Last Day, associating disbelief with a lack of belief in consequences and accountability. He contrasts this with the belief in hell and the afterlife, which is central to the Quranic understanding of justice. The speaker also addresses the issue of people who live charmed lives questioning why bad things happen to good people, suggesting that they fail to consider their own good fortune and the broader picture of divine justice.
🔍 The Essence of Tawhid and the Importance of Good Deeds
Garens concludes by highlighting the essence of Tawhid, which is the oneness of God and the belief in the Last Day as central to true faith. He suggests that the remembrance of God and the Last Day is what truly matters, as it provides a context for understanding the purpose of life and the importance of good deeds. The speaker emphasizes that belief in the Last Day is an acceptance of a day of reckoning, where actions will be judged and individuals will receive their just rewards or punishments. Garens also touches on the human inclination towards evil and the need for cultivation of virtue. He ends by encouraging viewers to use the Quran as a tool for self-reflection and guidance, reminding them of the eternal truths it contains.

Transcripts
hello I'm Sam garens today is Wednesday
3rd of July 2024 and today we're going
to be looking at the question of belief
in God and the last
day all right today what I want to do is
look at belief in God and the last day
as um as we find it in the Quran and I
think the motivation for this is because
I think people get bogged down I know I
do too on occasion with um you know with
the extraneous stuff and especially if
uh like I you know if one gets attacked
and you know by all kinds of people and
I'm not just talking about myself I'm
you it happens to all sorts of people or
just the just the sort of General
stresses of life um and the the
complications of of things and living as
we are quite clearly in the collapse of
Western civilization and when I say
Western Civilization I don't just mean
Europe I mean everywhere is the West now
um if you have an iPhone you're the West
that's it okay I don't care what you
call yourself um and also let's not
forget our good friend World War I which
we happen to be in
um if you haven't noticed so not that
those are change the fundamentals uh the
fundamentals are that you God gives you
a time to be born and a time to die and
there's nothing new Under the Sun in any
of that but um the the whole point and
just going to turn to reader. Corine .c
and I've searched this features my own
translation but you can also if you just
look in here you can get to other
translators so if you don't like Sam
garens and his methodology you've you've
got some options this does feature my
own translation and all of the notes uh
which are found in the Quran and
complete
Revelation but this online version uh I
quite understand that the the the book
is very heavy to carry around and it
means you can access it on your uh
mobile device and every time you use it
just remember if you've got one it means
you are now in the West in in the sort
of as it were
um the actual West the technological
West and so you know these sort of
distinctions between Europe and other
countries and so on in America they
don't really exist
anymore brother SED murer put this
together oversaw this project and he's
done a wonderful job and there is a link
Down Below on my YouTube anyway for
people want to use this you don't have
to sign up for it we not we don't want
your email we not there's no advertising
it's just for you to use so that if you
wish to you can prove me wrong or
whatever anyway the point is God and the
last days so I've just run a search on
this particular
convention and the reason why it's
interesting is because you know people
get really bed down in the details so
the the distinction fundamentally is
those between those who believe in God
and the last last day so when we say
believe in God and the last day this
isn't just people who call them you know
s
Muslims uh or even those who call
themselves Christians and
Jews uh people from all kinds of
cultures and backgrounds uh if you had
asked them in the past do you believe in
God and the last day they would say yes
I mean quite clearly even within the
context of the Quran itself you have uh
in the story in Surah 12 of Yousef of
Joseph um You probably have noticed that
the the king in this uh story is not
referred to as Pharaoh he's referred to
as the king and um in this time uh quite
clearly they were believing people who
didn't not only did they not hold to El
Islam they didn't hold
to well in fact J Judaism whatever we
mean by that the Hebrew religion hadn't
been sent down to Moses at that point
and yet there were people who believed
in God quite clearly the king is himself
a God-fearing man um even the um the the
wife of
aliz uh of poyer's wife in the Bible
version um she refers to God and so my
point is is that this is the distinction
between people believe in God in the
last day and those who don't now what
does it really mean to believe in God in
the last day well it means quite a lot
of things firstly it means that your
sectarianism my sectarianism you know
those shibas those points of doctrine
that we think are so important and all
of that um are going to be laid be on
that day now that doesn't mean excuse me
haha you know God will prove me right
and you wrong and yabu sucks I I I I
mean maybe that will happen for you I
you know good for you if that's the case
excuse me it's hot here but the point is
is that you know it's it's the day of of
truth
truth uncovered and so what do we really
have to to worry about in in that in
that case you know let's say you know I
have a view of this and you have a
different view there is a day of Truth
and it's coming to all of us and
acknowledgement of that really puts
those things in their perspective Ive so
that's the first thing um the second
thing is Works
um there is a reward for those who have
tawa um and God is the best of rewards
and he will pay in full and so anything
that you I anyone else has has given in
the in in the way of spent in the in the
way of God um whether it be in monetary
terms whether it be in terms of efforts
and so on will be rewarded in full so so
you know there's no reason for any of us
to fear or to grieve that that's the
next point the other point I would say
about this is
um this is really the distinction
between Believers and I'm using this
sense in the true sense not in this
sectarian sense that um what I call
Brand Islam is rather cooked up for
itself I'm not saying there aren't true
believers within brand Islam and that's
that's not my claim absolutely but what
I do claim is that there is the the the
assertion that there's um a onetoone
correlation between between such people
and Believers in general in any case is
is not sustainable in general and it's
not sustainable on a quranic basis what
is the case however is that those who
deny a denial of the last day is really
denial of the the division the point at
which God judges and uh those who whose
balances are heavy receive their reward
and enter into eternity in a good State
and those whose balances are light and
enter into eternity in an in an evil
State I.E go to hell what you find is
that and this has just been something
I've observed is that the unbelievers if
you want to call it this I'm not call
talking about unbelievers in the relig
of Islam as as as you know in toned by
your favorite Sunni mulah um who drives
around in a nice car and has a mobile
telephone and you know all the rest of
it not talking about that I'm talking
about what what a quranic definition of
this term will
bear what I find is that the people who
are not believers they uh they don't
believe in hell and um one of the
arguments uh used for example by The
Professional Debaters um I'm talking
here secular
Debaters is you'll find quite often one
of their arguments is well how does why
does God allow bad things to happen to
good people then there you are full stop
the
end uh two points on that the first is
is that um firstly it's they they're
judging a play before they've got to to
to the third act which seems to be a
little premature um but secondly if you
if you know the people who make that
argument is almost never that I've seen
people who actually have suffered it's
people who bear a Charmed Life who's uh
who are fated and paid and given prizes
and um and adulation it's and and fame
and riches it's those people who feel
that it's um how unfair it all is and
yet they never stop in my I've never
seen one anyway stop and say why is it
that I'm having such a great life I
don't Des deserve it no they take that
they take that as their Baseline and
move forward from there
anyway so that's what you see you see
that it's unbelievers by definition do
not believe in they don't believe in
hell because they don't um they can't
believe they won't believe in
consequences and this is something that
you see expressed I'm not saying that
they have a monopoly on the franchise
but they certainly uh partic ipate in it
uh Li what I call Progressive liards and
where it's all about identity and there
is no actual accountability for anything
um there's anything they do there's an
excuse you know they weren't cuddled
enough as a child or whatever it is
there's an excuse and a way out of it
there's actually no accountability and
you find exactly the same mindset um
amongst many people in organized
religions including what I call Brand
Islam um and Christian ity certainly has
something very similar where there's a
get out of jail free card where actually
your actions you're not going to be held
to account to them so really they don't
believe in the last day not really what
they believe in in in so far as they do
believe that this will happen is that
they're you know they're kind of in with
God for some reason not that they're
actually going to be judged according to
any ex um objective
criteria uh which brings me to my next
point which is that belief in God in the
last day is a uh a priori an
understanding of an acceptance of a day
of the settling of accounts so when we
look at the objectively evil
people um who hold sway to an a great
extent in this world as we as we read in
the Quran God says I will fill I will
fill hell with men and gin all together
I'm not going to get into what you know
what we mean by that precisely but
certainly the majority of men are going
to hell um I don't like
that I find it a very difficult saying
but if you accept the Quran and actually
if you just look around you you can see
that if there is a day of account of
accounting that this must be the case um
quite frankly because um contrary to
what you're told by uh humanism modern
humanism men are not naturally good
we're we're naturally we incline to to
evil we actually have to a bit like how
a garden if you leave it alone it it
turns to weeds you you can um make it a
good Garden but you have to work on it
you have to cultivate it you see efforts
you see have actually have to do
something and lastly is that that
remembrance of God and the last day is I
would say the essence of TAA this is
really what it boils down to seeing this
life in the context as a symbol and a um
a
precursor and a pre sentiment to actual
reality in this context um wranglings
about you know different points of
Doctrine and so on really Fade to
nothing and our
um little highs and little lows to quote
Queen um again are seemen from a a great
enough distance really cancel out into
into actually
nothing but the what does remain in this
context is faith in God and good works
and that's really what it boils down to
and I just wanted you know as long as we
hold on to that especially at a time
when as I say we are or have said in a
lot of videos we are clearly living
whether the media is taking it upon
itself to inform you or not but in World
War I and we you know if nuclear weapons
are real and I tend to think that they
are um you know we could all be
annihilated at any moment but you know
leaving that to one
side
um the fact of death is true anyway
so it doesn't make any uh qualitative
difference difference it just makes a
quantitative difference which I suppose
if you've read ginel
um and people like that maybe some Evol
and some fith jof
Shuan would it would be fitting that the
most debased man Dem democratized man
should die together because that's all
he can do he's a he's a mass animal and
but if you believe in God in the last
last day you actually retain a hold on
quality and you understand the
difference between good and bad and
that's something that this U the modern
society will tell you doesn't exist and
it will point to lots of people who um
for support none of whom have actually
done any actual thinking anyway uh
reader. night.com you can go there and
search for all kinds of questions and
look at them and here we just sort of
quickly flick through what we what I
found they believe in God on the last
day if they believed in see how Central
this
is but you can use this as a as a tool
to investigate what's important to
you and seek guidance from the Quran for
yourself anyway that's it for today
thanks for listening and bye for now
