Transcripts
hello everyone I trust you are in good
spirits and getting ready for the
holidays before we all immerse into the
excitement of the festive mood of
Christmas Diwali or k
Quanza whatever you celebrate I have
chosen to wrap up the Year by sharing
some exciting updates on the talent
intelligence Hub today we will primarily
delve into the integration features of
talent intelligence Hub with the rest of
the success factors in hxm Suite as of
released 2 AG
2023 but before we dive into the incases
of these Integrations let's start with a
quick recap or refresher of what talent
intelligence Hub is all about okay for
this section let me um close out my
video because I want to make sure you
see the animation well okay firstly
let's get the big whale out of the way
Talent intelligence Hub is included as
part of the sap success factors platform
module and the best part is there is no
additional license cost to purchase the
solution so what exactly is Talent
intelligence Hub back in 2011 the only
platform feature available to maintain
job and job attributes such as
competencies job families role Etc was
called job description manager or in
short JDM
but it didn't offer the ability to
maintain people attributes now first
forward to
2013 sap introduced a beta program
called job profile Builder um in short
JPB built on the MDF framework the
metadata framework which replac the
Legacy roles in JDM JPB also um brought
in skills management featuring a table
to list all skills
and a handy skills portlet in people
profile to capture employee skills and
employee can view their
skills now come to
2021 sap introduced the whole uh the
whole self model concept to manage your
employees
capabilities during the second half
release in 2021 we also introduced
Center of capabilities or in short known
as
COC uh with new features capability is
portfolio where employees can see their
existing competencies and capabilities
Library where admins can manage
competencies so at this point the
competency Library moved from JPB under
capabilities
library but uh Center of capabilities or
COC was essentially a placeholder with
the ultimate goal of becoming the talent
intelligence hub
and now the center of capabilities have
evolved
into um the talent intelligence Hub um
the capabilities portfol portfolio has
transformed into growth portfolio and
the capabilities library has become the
attributes Library you know we decided
to change the names as you all know by
now here at sapu we have a soft spot for
renaming things you know um it's what
noting that job profile Builder is here
to stay coexisting with Talent
intelligence Hub although some of its
components now fall under the purview of
talent intelligence Hub okay now that
you are familiar with the emergence and
evaluation of T intelligence Hub
solution let's look into how the
underlying data is changing codes from
where it's house today to its new home
to understand the evaluation of various
data blocks was changed or was added
let's start with job profile Builder and
work our way uh through to Talent
intelligence Hub now this picture
represents the components of job profile
Builder until 1 age
2021 uh before Center of capabilities
was released now from 2013 up until 2021
job profile Builder was a solution to
manage both job attributes and people
attributes skill sport under employee
profile was the only place to hold
person specific attributes during this
time with uh introduction of uh COC or
Center of capabilities for customers who
choose to upgrade to COC competency
Library moved under uh capabilities
library and other uh people specific
attributes including skill Library
continue to exist under job profile
Builder during um the time of center of
capabilities which finally with the
introduction of talent intelligence Hub
a job profile Builder found an alliance
with a few new entrance one is growth
portfolio attributes library and the new
skills onology with each solution having
its defined responsibility in this big
house of talent intelligence Hub in this
target and state of talent intelligence
Hub job profile Builder would manage
only job attributes and growth portfolio
for skills and people attributes as
depicted in this
picture so with job profile Builder and
job description manager the competency
skills and other contents were directly
associated with the job role or job
profile and not with the individual
employees inherited those features via
the job code assignment to job role
however in growth portfolio all skills
and attributes are now directly
associated with the person that is an
employee now that we have traced the
evaluation of talent intelligence Hub as
a customer you might find yourself in
one of the following
scenarios let's break down the
recommended strategies and building
blocks for customers in each of these
four scenarios
number one job description manager
customer and you have never upgraded to
job profile Builder or Center of
capabilities uh so you'll begin by
evaluating whether you want to leverage
skills in job uh job roles or job
profiles if you are not using skills at
all refer to the knowledge-based article
um and decision tree mention in in my
blog everything about Talent
intelligence hub you can visit that blog
to find the detail link consider the
decision carefully and follow the
provided guidance run the check tool and
uh upgrade to Talent intelligence Hub
and remember you have to run the check
tool again after you upgrade to Talent
intelligence Hub to fix any migration
related
errors number two um second scenario
existing JPB customers or if you are a
JDM customer and if you want to use
skills in job roles roles and job
profiles now refer to the relevant kba
uh this is a different kba and the
decision tree you will also run the JPB
checks um and the check tool to address
any errors you will upgrade to Talent
intelligence Hub and then run again the
check tool for migration related errors
um very important um you have to
manually build the skills Library as it
won't be migrated with the migration
tool competency Library however is
migrated type three um Center of
capabilities customer now you might have
upgraded from JPB in 2021 or 2022 you
will follow similar step uh as as like
the JPB customers you will run the check
tool you will manually build the skills
library and you can utilize the Import
and Export templates and integration
Center for data transfer note that
category groups and libraries are now
converted to
tags okay uh the last type of customers
um who are not using saps job profile
Builder JDM or Center of capabilities or
let's say if you are implementing
success factor for the first time or
haven't used uh any of success factors
Talent Suite before and now you are
implementing so we suggest you you to
directly upgrade to Talent intelligence
Hub build your skills Library manually
or use import export option to populate
your skills Library which is under
attributes Library create your
competency Library under attributes
Library too um you can create any custom
Library if uh you know that is required
as per your organization or your
industry type you can set up role-based
permission to control employee access to
growth portfolio allowing them to view
and or rate their skills um and then
finally uh you can configure U cross
module interaction with success factor
Talent intelligence Hub so that other
Talent modules can leverage skills and
competency from Talent intelligence
subub so in summary your your stage will
determine your upgrade path and the
specific steps to follow including
running check tools building skills
library and configuring permissions
uh please note that while a Sunset date
hasn't been defined yet the skills
portlet under JPB the JDM Legacy Family
and roles and even Center of
capabilities will be deprecated soon
