first of all team looking ahead to

Everton H Squad Che yeah yeah um same as

uh same as last week um no real change a

couple of bumps and bruises after

uh after the game as normal and uh guys

who've been out for a little while are

recovering and on on track but um no

we're as we were we spoke a lot at the

start of the Season about one of your

aims looking to bridge the gap between

the championship in the Premier League

now are a few weeks in where do you

assess the squad's level out do you

think you've been able to do that to a

certain extent well we definitely would

have like to have obtained more more

points than what we have um and and as

we know in the end you know that's uh

the most important thing and um there's

always the number one objectives of how

many points and position you you you you

finish in um so we we'll be no different

so um we are we are sort of frustrated

but um that we haven't got more points

than what we have because we feel like

we we've we could have got something

more in each game than what we did so

that that's a frustration but it's also

um a motivation um to to do better on on

that front in terms of getting over the

line and

results um but we also feel like we um

are uh really making positive strides in

um in that transition and becoming um um

a really competitive team in this league

so um so I don't want to say that we're

on course because we've only got two

points that would be that would be wrong

but I also know there's a lot of good

things going on on and there's a really

good work ethic and there's a really

good environment brilliant spirit and

togetherness from from the guys and

really committing to um to what we're

trying to do and and you know the

process um is what we're in control of

and um you know that's our preparation

that's our training that's our sort of

attitude

towards um towards games in terms of

like I said how we prepare and how we

deliver on Match days and um so no no

problem there we've just got to continue

to try and put it all together um and if

we do we feel like we we'll be you know

a good match for any game that we play

so um so we've just got to keep going

really want to ask you about odson

Edward of course being eligible for the

last two games but now he is available

yeah what do you hope that he can bring

to the squad that's going to be a bit

different maybe perhaps to the other

options you have yeah so it was

obviously his felt like a little while

has been with us now and he hasn't been

able to play with the international

break and um first game being being

against is his parent Club in in Crystal

Palace um but that's also allowed us um

um to for him to develop his his sort of

relationships with his teammates and the

staff to understand how we want to play

and his role within it and um and he

adds um you know

another good experience a good level of

player to the attacking part of the of

the pitch so um you know he's he's um

played mainly as a number nine and but

know we can also play in in some

slightly different positions at the top

end of the pitch so you know I've talked

quite quite often about having um a

variety of options and different

profiles that we can hopefully select

wisely for for each and every game and

um oddson is another good example of

that so we're enjoying working with him

and it it'll be great um you know to to

get him involved sooner rather than

later and just finally from you step to

looking ahead to everon I know it's very

early on in the season but does this

already potentially feel like a six

point come the end of the season as a

huge huge thing we taken out every game

as it comes and and and treating it with

the the same importance um we we prepare

for every team for for expecting them to

be at the best and you know Everton have

a um a lot of really good players and

and and a really experienced manager and

um and we know that like every game in

this league it it it comes games come

with with really difficult challenges so

so we're fully fully aware of that um

but our approach so far has been to to

really focus on ourselves and what we

can bring um CU that's what we're in

control of more than anything else so um

it's um it's continuing with that plan

continuing with our strategy getting

ready for a tough game we're excited

about the game we're excited about being

at home it's been a brilliant training

week I have to say which has been on the

back of um a frustration of not winning

at at Palace and a and a really bad

decision that that went against us um

that we've had to pick up with the

Premier League this week um and um but

also knowing that we did enough good

things in the game to to allow us to

feel positive about our about our work

so um um we we we're excited for the

game yeah thanks

Dan just on the V decision how do you

make sure that that doesn't doesn't

the way yeah well well we're we're over

it of course I mean it was an awful

human era um that We Believe has been

hidden a little bit in in in the media

um and that that's been as disappointing

as the decision to be honest you know we

we at the time um didn't feel like the

decision was right and we asked for

clarity and um you know we've seen

different images um that that show that

when when they they froze the game for

for the decision of the the offside he

clearly was offside unfortunately um

where they froze it was at the wrong

time um and it was uh they deemed to be

onsite so um everything that has been

seen by the media by um um the KMI panel

has been a False Image you know and the

meeting that we had on Monday with the

Premier League we show clear footage

that actually the game was stopped at

the wrong time so um isn't it listen

decisions go against you whether it's in

in game or or V and and we've had a

massive error massive error go against

us um but we don't want it to go under

the radar um because I don't think that

would be right for the players and also

the the supporters um so even though it

might be hidden in the media It's Our

obligation really to to bring it up and

say we've been really hard done by been

let down um and um we've told the

Premier League what what our thoughts

are and the uh and the the referees uh

department and um and they met us to be

fair on on Monday um which they they

should have done should have been Sunday

really but it was Monday um and um and

that's that's where we're at with it so

it's no disrespect to to Crystal Palace

not in any way shape or form um but um

for me errors like that should never

happen particularly when V's in

place um the offside is obviously you

know a flawed system that's why we're

changing to uh

semi-automated um but um but yeah we we

felt very let down by it and and uh we

needed to stand up for the club uh with

the players and supporters and and tell

them tell them what we thought um like I

said it doesn't change the result and

we'll be on the end of good and bad

decisions this season that will uh will

influence the games like that one did

that's that is football and that's why

we love it but um don't don't hide away

from mistakes you know own them and

stand up stand up for it can ask about

Jame

yeah working with him it doesn't seem

lost his appe time no he's

hungry yeah yeah he's really really

really hungry to be fair really

motivated feel like we're working well

with him I think you have to um bring

get involved him in the process

obviously with his uh with his age if

you like and and the stage he's at in

his career in terms of what's right for

him in terms of preparation but he loves

training he loves um being involved with

the team he gets excited at match days

and you can see in his game that he's uh

he's really motivated and um for me the

preparation for the games is the key for

him to allow him you know to be at his

very very best in every aspect for for

game so um so there's no doubt he's had

a good start to the season particularly

off the back of a a very indifferent

preseason where he missed most of it

through through injury um and uh he's

been able to to deliver us uh deliver

for us while obviously getting himself

fully up the speed with his training

load so um yeah let's hope that um you

know we can keep it going for him

because um you know when when he's on it

like he has been in games he's he's

still a massive

threat thank you

okay hi Steve hope you're okay um just

on oddson Edward you talked there about

having a different profile of of Striker

what does his profile offer you in

particular yeah well um obviously you

know J Jamie has been um well known for

his his sort of playing on the limit and

it runs in behind and and um really

coming alive in in in the box and that's

what's giv in the career that we all

have seen over you know many years now

um and and oddson can definitely offer

that as well um but as well as being

involved in the buildup you can play

like I said a couple of positions um and

um you just need more than one option in

in every every position so um he has the

Premier League experience he has the um

the big game experience as well even

through his time a Celtic played on a

big stage there and um you know the more

sometimes the more attacking options you

can have going into a game and during a

game for changes I think I think the

better and that that

uh oh and is the um the modern game

isn't it you know it's not just about

the the the starting team it's not just

about one player for one position it's

it's having a real variety and um and

that's what what what he adds to us so

um yeah you saw at the start of the

Season how with with with vs picking up

that that injury and obviously P being

out as well that we we were a little bit

sort of under under man there and um um

we needed to bring you know some some uh

bodies in as well but to to bring in the

quality that we have you know it bodess

well for us really to um to give us the

right level that we need at that end of

the pitch you spoke very passionately a

few moments ago around the V decision

did the did the the Premier League

except that the game had been or that

the certainly the footage that was

showed was stopped too early for the

decision was there an acception well we

we we had a um a meeting with them and

we showed them they we asked them to

explain why they came to the decision um

that they did and it confirmed to us

that that they were wrong in terms of

how to what when they actually stopped

the game we showed them some broadcast

footage uh other the broadcast footage

has not been anywhere near the media um

so everything that you see on on M of

the day or or sky or um you know PLP and

and everything else has has been um

false really in terms of the the

decision because it was stopped at the

wrong time we've showed them the real

footage and and with some some extra

footage as well that we have and we

presented to them we gave it to them um

but we haven't had anything back since

so there's been no apology or anything

like that so

far no next up Everton to get three

points this weekend in in front of your

in your home fans I wonder how big a

foundation block that might be for for

kickstarting this this period now before

the next International yeah yeah not

that that's what we' all striving for

you'd always strive for you know if we'd

had more points on the table we we'd

still be you know equally as motivated

to get the three points in in in this

game and that's that stage of the season

that's all you want is to Wi win as as

many games as you can um so but at the

moment we uh we we feel like we're doing

a lot of good things um I I'm seeing

loads of togetherness I'm seeing loads

of commitment into the plan uh

everyone's sort of on board and um but

but we know it's that's all well and

good as long as we we can put it

together on a match day and and and that

allows us to get the results that that

we want so um yeah we're desperate to to

to win in front of our home supporters

you know the two games we've played so

far uh we've lost and and you know we've

been sort of applauded off performance

but that's that's not enough you know we

need to be applauded off for good

performances and and and wins um and we

we hold that responsibility um strongly

so um yeah full commitment now into

which has been from when we returned

after Palace into Everton and and you

know another day or so before uh before

we can we can hopefully make it count

you have had access to and the club have

had access to did the V officials have

access to that at the time that they

were making some of it yeah some of it

yeah but um but it's not being it's not

being used it's not being

used I guess I'm asking you to speculate

now yeah I don't know like I said is we

can't change you know what happened in

the game and and the the you know

mistakes will happen you know and um

some will be there'll be a game

hopefully this year where we'll be on on

the end of of a poor decision that goes

for us um so we understand that but

don't just own up to it just don't hide

behind it and accept it you know have

the humility to go we' made a big

mistake there and we learn from it you

know that's what players will be doing

that's what managers will be doing you

know you need to see the same um from

from referees as well so he didn't

intend to make the mistake that he did

but they did made a massive mistake you

know and um um you know show the footage

don't put out you know the wrong image

images that they've um used are the ones

where they did stop the game and he is

on side but they've stopped it after the

ball has been kicked not when the ball

is they stopped it when the ball was

been kicked as um Howard well Webb

explained I I didn't see it but it

explained in his show in the week about

when they actually touched the ball

that's when you look at the offside if

they' done that for this you would see

that he was clearly offside but they did

it when the ball had left the foot and

we've seen some clear images of that we

can't obviously can't release them and

we won't um but um if we had then you

would see it but the Premier League have

we sent our our presentation to them and

the footage and yeah we're not H

anything

back um just looking at the weekend

Everton and everything that they're

going through as a football club at the

moment just from the outside looking in

it it it looks like a really good

opportunity to spring board and and

Kickstart your season it's a good

opportunity because we feel like we we

we we feel like there's a lot of good

work going on here um so it doesn't

matter who we play and obviously you

know we're focus on Everton because

that's the opponent but um regardless

who we playing we we feel like it's a

good opportunity because um because of

what we're we're developing but it's all

talk at the moment until we win games

you know but we've really got to commit

to that plan that process which you know

guys have been faultless in terms of the

application and and the engagement um

but it's all like I said it's all talk

we we've just got to deliver now match

days and get results just finally for me

the player workload issue that's been

debated this week Roger came out said

some of the players that he'd spoken to

were considering strike action because

there's just far too much football

they're not getting an opportunity to

have any downtime any rest time um

what's your take on all of

it well I can't say I've got the

personal experience of of um um being a

a sort of a premier league manager

that's in in Europe and and latter

stages of Cup competitions and then

obviously International games EX Etc um

yeah it's um it would be really wrong

for me to give a strong opinion because

I've not really lived in in that world

but

um um you know where where we're at this

season depending on sort of Cup games we

we'll play a lot less games than what we

would have done in in the championship

some guys will play more because of

Internationals so um I think it's right

that that it's topical I think it's

right that it's um it's monitored um

because in the end you you want um

players to be at their best during games

because it gives off the best image and

and the best identity for for for any

game that people are watching or whether

it be domestic or International so um

and obviously you know welfare and and

play of players should always be um well

thought of and looked after but um I

can't really say that you know um like

some of the European teams that I've

lived and breathed it hope I do one day

um

but at the moment um you know we're sort

of just dealing with the schedule that

that we have
