Q & A

  • What is the main challenge people face when trying to follow through with their morning intentions?

-The main challenge is the disparity between the motivated 'higher self' that sets intentions before sleep and the 'lower self' that feels unmotivated and resists those intentions upon waking up.

  • What is the 'higher self' and how does it differ from the 'lower self'?

-The 'higher self' is the part of an individual that is inspired, motivated, and aligned with doing good and beneficial things. In contrast, the 'lower self' is characterized by laziness, fear, doubt, and a reluctance to engage in positive actions.

  • How can one determine which part of themselves is guiding their decisions?

-One can determine this by recognizing the language and characteristics of their thoughts and actions. The higher self communicates through virtues like fearlessness, humility, and self-restraint, while the lower self is marked by fear, laziness, and resistance.

  • What is the significance of the 26 virtues mentioned in the script?

-The 26 virtues, inspired by the Bhagavad Gita and compiled by Paramahansa Yogananda, represent the traits that make man Godlike. They serve as a guide to understanding the language of the higher self and help individuals align their behavior with these virtues.

  • Why is meditation recommended as a method to connect with the higher self?

-Meditation, particularly single-pointed focused meditation, is recommended because it helps to quiet the mind, reduce the chatter of the lower self, and enhance awareness. This practice allows for a greater connection with the higher self by not fueling the lower self's thoughts.

  • How does meditation contribute to subduing the lower self?

-Meditation contributes to subduing the lower self by not engaging with its thought patterns. By focusing on a neutral point like the breath or a candle flame, one redirects their attention away from the lower self's thoughts, allowing them to naturally reduce over time.

  • What is the 'Snowball Effect' mentioned in the script and how does it relate to connecting with the higher self?

-The 'Snowball Effect' refers to the process where as one starts to choose the higher self more often, it becomes easier to continue doing so. This is because the focus on higher virtues and the reduction of lower self thoughts create a self-reinforcing cycle that strengthens the connection with the higher self.

  • What role does awareness play in connecting with the higher self?

-Awareness plays a crucial role as it enhances the individual's ability to recognize the source of their thoughts and actions. With increased awareness, one can more easily choose to align with the higher self and its virtues, rather than being dominated by the lower self.

  • How can one align their daily life with the higher self's virtues?

-One can align their daily life with the higher self's virtues by making conscious decisions that reflect these virtues, such as practicing self-discipline, courage, and generosity. This alignment is facilitated by a regular meditation practice and a clear understanding of the distinction between the higher and lower self.

  • What resources are available for those seeking to learn meditation to connect with their higher self?

-The speaker mentions having a meditation course available, which can be found in the video description or by pre-registering through a provided link. This course is intended to help individuals learn meditation techniques to enhance their connection with their higher self.

play00:00

how many times have you been laying in

play00:02

bed at night and you've been thinking

play00:03

I'm going to get up tomorrow morning I'm

play00:05

going to meditate for 20 minutes I'm

play00:06

going to get up at 6:00 a.m. I'm going

play00:09

to have a cold shower after I'm going to

play00:11

make a really healthy breakfast and I'm

play00:13

going to get to work and it's going to

play00:14

be an amazing way of starting my day and

play00:16

you go to bed you feel motivated you're

play00:18

ready to do it and then you wake up the

play00:20

alarm goes off at 6 you feel knackered

play00:24

you really aren't inspired anymore

play00:26

you've got thoughts of I can't be

play00:27

bothered with this I just want like

play00:29

another 10 minutes in bed I just need

play00:30

another 10 minutes I'm not that

play00:32

interested in meditation anyway and you

play00:35

skip it you you hit the snooze button

play00:37

you lieing you get up an hour late

play00:40

you're rushing around then you end up

play00:42

having toast instead of a healthy

play00:45

breakfast because you've not got any

play00:46

more time and you rush out the door you

play00:47

feel half stressed on your way to work

play00:51

and you're thinking why did I make that

play00:53

decision the night before I was so

play00:54

motivated I was so Keen to do it and

play00:58

this is a prime example of of the higher

play01:01

self the night before being the dominant

play01:04

way of thinking the higher self was the

play01:06

part of you that was inspired to do

play01:09

something good for yourself that wants

play01:11

to you to do things that are useful and

play01:14

beneficial but then in the morning the

play01:17

voice of the lower self was front of

play01:20

mind and that was the thing that

play01:22

determined how you then carried on in

play01:25

that morning the choices that you made

play01:27

were based on the lower self The Voice

play01:30

is the voice internal voice of the lower

play01:32

self so we can see from this example

play01:35

that I'm sure we've all experienced this

play01:38

we all have this these two sides to

play01:41

oursel we all have the part of us that

play01:43

has our best interest at heart that

play01:45

wants us to do things that are

play01:47

beneficial and good for us and is

play01:49

inspired and then we've got the other

play01:51

side which is bit lazy which is fear

play01:55

fearful which has doubts which can't be

play01:57

bothered to do anything that part is is

play02:00

the lower self or the ego self and I've

play02:03

had a lot of questions recently since my

play02:06

video on astral projection sort of got a

play02:08

bit of traction with people saying Ben I

play02:11

want help with connecting to my higher

play02:14

self how can I do it and it made me

play02:18

think and as I thought about this I came

play02:21

to the realization that we're always

play02:25

connected to the higher self it's not a

play02:27

matter of connecting to the highest self

play02:30

the higher self is part of us it is

play02:34

us really what we need to do is learn

play02:36

how to remove the part of us that is

play02:39

obscuring the higher self and to do that

play02:42

we have to understand the language of

play02:45

the higher self how do we know which

play02:48

part of us is talking at any one

play02:51

time in there is a book actually called

play02:55

um autobiography of a yogi and I don't

play02:58

know if you've heard this before it's

play02:59

quite a popular book sorry read this

play03:01

before it's quite a popular book it was

play03:03

written by a yogi funly enough called uh

play03:07

paramahansa

play03:09

Yogananda and on his website he has

play03:13

compiled 26 virtues which are within the

play03:17

bagad Gita which is the ancient Hindu

play03:19

text and he calls it 26 virtues that

play03:23

make man Godlike and these virtues are

play03:26

things like fearlessness humility

play03:30

self-restraint determination courage

play03:33

honesty generosity like all beautiful

play03:36

traits that I think all of us would read

play03:39

and aspire to live our lives in

play03:42

accordance to that and it made me

play03:45

realize that if the higher self had a

play03:48

language it would be saturated with the

play03:51

language of these virtues it would be

play03:54

saturated with these virtues the higher

play03:56

self

play03:57

communicates using these ways of

play04:00

Behaving these

play04:02

characteristics and in

play04:04

situations we normally have a choice

play04:06

between do we choose the voice of fear

play04:10

or do we Cho choose the voice of

play04:14

fearlessness so knowing this it allows

play04:18

us to understand which part of us is

play04:20

communicating at any one time and

play04:23

understand that there is different parts

play04:24

of us that are trying to communicate

play04:25

with us at any one

play04:27

time and we have a decision to make when

play04:30

we're going about our life we can decide

play04:34

do I choose the voice of the higher self

play04:37

do I choose the voice of the lower self

play04:40

and this is where our Free Will comes

play04:41

into

play04:42

play for most people they are overly

play04:45

dominated with the lower voice the lower

play04:48

self is prevalent the higher self can't

play04:52

be heard much occasionally it creeps in

play04:54

and gives some inspiration and some

play04:56

great ideas but then we're dominated by

play04:58

this lower way of thinking and it's

play05:01

really hard it's like how do we overcome

play05:03

that how do we subdue this lower self in

play05:08

order to actually hear the higher self

play05:10

which is always there available to us we

play05:12

just it's just obscured by this lower

play05:15

self and obviously if you've watched my

play05:18

videos before you will know that I'm a

play05:20

meditation teacher you will know that I

play05:23

came to meditation when I was about six

play05:25

my dad was a meditation teacher and

play05:28

meditating has been a big part of my

play05:30

life for my entire

play05:32

life I probably less of you will know

play05:35

that when I was in my early 20s I wanted

play05:37

to challenge myself physically and so I

play05:40

started signing up to triathlons I

play05:41

became a Great Britain triathlete in in

play05:44

the age group um levels and I raced at a

play05:48

national level in Triathlon and duathlon

play05:51

I did Iron Man triathlons climb

play05:53

mountains all over the world push my

play05:55

body to the Limit basically I wanted to

play05:57

use the training that I kind of been

play05:59

doing in meditation and put it into a

play06:01

physical uh challenge or put it into a

play06:04

test in a physical

play06:06

way and I I generally speaking found

play06:10

that I was naturally able to do that

play06:12

quite easily and I believe that this is

play06:15

because of meditation and I believe that

play06:18

through meditation through years and

play06:20

years of meditation and by when I say

play06:23

this I I say this not meaning that I

play06:26

have by any means mastered this or that

play06:29

I don't have a lower self because I very

play06:30

much do but through meditation I have

play06:33

subdued the lower self to a great degree

play06:36

which has meant that I feel more guided

play06:39

and more connected to my higher self and

play06:42

it's been very very easy for me to um

play06:46

achieve things like I did in Triathlon

play06:49

and things like this because I was able

play06:51

to be determined I was able to be

play06:52

self-disciplined I was able able to have

play06:55

that self-restraint and all of those

play06:57

good virtues that are uh mentioned

play07:01

within the bag ofad Gita not all of them

play07:03

of course but a lot of them and so my

play07:07

first tip for you to connect to your

play07:11

higher self is to start to meditate and

play07:15

and um specifically using a single

play07:18

pointed focused

play07:20

meditation the reason for for this the

play07:23

reason why I I think so highly of single

play07:26

pointed focused

play07:27

meditations is because

play07:31

it gives you the opportunity to actually

play07:33

start to subdue the lower self the lower

play07:35

voice because you're not fueling it when

play07:37

you start focusing on thoughts as we all

play07:40

know and have all experienced when you

play07:43

when you o when you think too much you

play07:45

overthink you fuel that thinking process

play07:48

and you then have more thoughts to deal

play07:49

with meditation is very much the

play07:52

antithesis of that we let go of thoughts

play07:56

continually and put our attention onto

play07:58

something that is not a thought which is

play08:00

neutral a neutral area so it might be

play08:03

the breath it could be the a candle

play08:06

flame and when we do

play08:08

that for weeks and months at a time

play08:11

every day for 10 20 minutes because

play08:15

we're not

play08:16

fueling the lower self we're not fueling

play08:18

those thoughts naturally they start to

play08:21

subdue and reduce and this isn't

play08:23

something that I've just experienced

play08:25

myself I've taught many people over the

play08:26

years and lots of them have had this

play08:29

experience as well so this is this is

play08:31

not just because I've been doing

play08:32

meditation for so long you can notice a

play08:34

big difference in a couple of months

play08:36

three months you'll notice a big

play08:38

difference in the level of uh thoughts

play08:42

or the amount of thoughts that you

play08:45

have this process also enhances your

play08:48

awareness so not only do does the

play08:51

chatter in your mind start to reduce but

play08:54

your awareness of what what chatter is

play08:57

going on enhances

play08:59

and therefore your ability to then

play09:01

select the higher self over the lower

play09:04

self is improved and naturally this is a

play09:08

Snowball Effect because as you can start

play09:10

then choosing the higher self More Often

play09:14

by the fact that where you place your

play09:16

awareness your attention you place your

play09:19

energy you actually start to naturally

play09:21

fuel the higher self you actually start

play09:24

to connect more with the higher self and

play09:26

so if your mind was like a guard

play09:30

you are essentially weeding out the

play09:33

lower thoughts the lower natures and you

play09:35

are fueling and connecting to and

play09:37

feeding the higher self the higher part

play09:41

of yourself and so gradually it's it

play09:45

becomes one big Snowball Effect your

play09:47

mind starts to become calmer you start

play09:50

to have better quality thoughts it

play09:52

becomes more easy to align yourself with

play09:57

these good virtues and behave in a

play09:58

manner that is aligned to the language

play10:01

of the higher

play10:02

self so it's a two-fold process of a

play10:07

calming the Mind through meditation and

play10:09

building your awareness but then equally

play10:12

purifying the Mind by not engaging in

play10:15

the lower natures and being clear on

play10:17

what part of yourself is the lower self

play10:19

and what part of yourself is the higher

play10:21

self and aligning yourself with the

play10:25

higher self by

play10:27

choosing um ways of Behaving and ways of

play10:30

of thinking that are aligned to these

play10:32

Natures which are innately the higher

play10:35

self the higher part of you so the

play10:37

higher self is always with you it's

play10:39

always ready there for you to connect to

play10:42

it's just obscured by the lower self if

play10:45

you go through this process of learning

play10:47

how to meditate meditating every single

play10:49

day quietening the Mind by doing that

play10:51

and enhancing your awareness and then

play10:55

equally as you're doing that and as

play10:56

you're going about your daily life

play10:58

filling the mind with higher natures and

play11:01

choosing and making decisions that are

play11:03

aligned with these 26 virtues you will

play11:06

naturally connect with your higher self

play11:09

if you need any help with meditation if

play11:11

you're looking to learn meditation I've

play11:12

actually got a course coming up um

play11:14

depending on when you're watching this

play11:15

video it'll either be below and if it's

play11:18

not there yet then the there is a link

play11:20
