Outlines
🧳 Troublesome Luggage Claim at Canadian Airport
The speaker recounts a frustrating experience at a Canadian airport where their luggage was damaged upon arrival. They describe the disorganized process of locating their luggage and the unhelpful interaction with an airline representative who refused to acknowledge the damage as anything more than 'wear and tear.' Despite having insurance, the representative was unwilling to file a report. The speaker felt their rights were being infringed upon when they were told they couldn't film the interaction, leading to a confrontation with airport staff who incorrectly claimed filming was not allowed in the airport.
🛃 Public Workers' Misunderstanding of Rights at Airport
The narrative continues with the speaker expressing disbelief at the public workers' lack of understanding of basic rights, such as the right to film in public spaces. The speaker was detained by security after a dispute with airport staff over filming their interaction. The security officers, however, were professional and advised the speaker on how to proceed with their claim without the cooperation of the airline staff. The speaker highlights the irony of being told they have no rights by the very people who should be upholding them.
📝 Navigating Airline Claims Despite Airport Staff's Obstruction
The speaker details their successful attempt to file a claim for their damaged luggage through the airline's website, which was a straightforward process compared to the difficulties faced at the airport. They question why the airport staff were so resistant to assisting with the claim and providing basic information. The speaker also reflects on similar experiences at the same airport in the past and ponders whether it's a policy issue or a lack of training among the staff.
🗣️ Advocating for Public Awareness of Rights at Airports
In the final paragraph, the speaker emphasizes the importance of being aware of one's rights, especially in a country known for its strong human rights stance like Canada. They express concern over the lack of training and knowledge among airport staff and call for better education to ensure that public servants are equipped to handle such situations appropriately. The speaker also encourages travelers to seek information and not be deterred by misinformation from those who may not understand the law.

Transcripts
hello everyone uh it's just the reason
why of this
first life I had because it was amazing
to be on an airport when you arrive to
Canada
um
and find an airport what I've been
having
um basically when you arrive and trying
to collect your luggage and if it's
happened to have your luggage being
damaged or lost so uh technically you go
to luggage office which is right beside
the
the belt and when you go to the
representative you will ask to just
claim the damage or whatever you have in
your luggage amazing when I just did
this steps and I walked into to the
office where you're gonna complain about
if you have any issue
despite the fact it was terrible to
handle our luggage When we arrive at the
airport and the reason
I'm saying terrible because they've been
taken off
the belt every luggage and they claim
that's because people not having time to
collect the luggage but you will have to
look for your luggage between the build
and between the unloaded luggage so it's
a quite bit of a mess but anyway this is
not the real issue the real issue when I
went to the office and complained to the
gentleman and I asked him to
file a report because I do have
insurance beside the airline insurance
so the gentleman first of all he said
what the damage and I show him the
damage in the luggage he mentioned oh no
this is wear and tear I said this is not
a wear and tear it's a cut in right
through my luggage and it's a real
little cut and he said no no Airline
wouldn't uh honor this kind of damage so
I said okay okay might as well just do
for me a report because I do have
insurance so regardless what you're
saying and surprising the gentleman he
said no I wouldn't do uh report so I
asked okay but what a proof that I came
into the office in airport to claim the
damage so I can tell my insurance
company beside the airline company and
he said
I don't have anything I said so can you
just give me uh your name or right away
when I asked for the name the gentleman
he just
uh take the name card on his neck and he
keep it inside so I said why you do this
it just
um like have no reason for that why are
you scared and then he said no I'm not
gonna do any report then right away I
just take my phone and I start doing
um shooting a video and I went to shoot
a video all of a sudden I found all the
people inside the office which is I
think it's another three ladies they
just come out and they said they scream
at me and they said you don't have a
right to do this and we're not gonna do
a report and as well you have no right
to reshoot a video for us
and I was surprised because
um we are in Canada and this is a one of
the most famous country and human rights
and
um
I am surprised because the people whose
work on this um field they not
aware or they don't know the rights of
the Canadians and however on Canadian
lands to be filming if you want to in
public place and he doesn't have any
issue to do that but they claim no
you're not allowed in airport to shoot a
video and they tell me you are detained
because you cannot leave the spot where
I am I was shooting the video because
you are
um shooting us a video on we not
permitting you and I said okay so what
to do on this and I'm gonna
show some of this video uh shots I have
but I was surprised and I was like
um like it's unbelievable to have some
public workers they don't know the right
of public and they insist and by the way
there was really talking in serious uh I
mean they believe what they think that I
don't have a right to shoot a video in
the airport and after that they said you
cannot leave until we call security
however they call Security on me and I
have to wait and then the security came
in and was CBC uh officers and they
tells me uh you don't have to worry if
they don't want to write a report
they was very nice very kind and
professional and they said if you want
um do a report you can take our names if
this uh Gentlemans they don't want to
give up their name for privacy reason
which is I don't know which privacy
reason if they work in the public area
so there is no privacy reason there
however
um I come to know that they tell me to
take our names and we are uh a witness
that you've been trying to claim uh this
issue then all of a sudden one of the
ladies she was angry that I'm sure in a
video she mentioned that you
have no right and she asked the officer
to erase the video I showed it then the
officer goes to her and he said I cannot
do that because I don't have authority
to do that he have a right to just shoot
a video and she insists she said no he
took my photo he took my uh co-worker
photos and he takes the office photo he
keep filming the whole situation he's
filming the airport and
it was amazing like for me I was like
shocked really shocked that uh this
person he doesn't know what they doing
and besides they refused to do a claim
which is here is the main key of this I
went online when I get back home and I
went to the airline
website and I claimed the damage bag and
was so simple steps to do and I don't
have to be through all this Aggregate
and
it just filled up the form I found the
airline respond to me and they direct me
to where I should do and they give me
the option of receiving
um composition or repair the luggage so
here is one thing I don't understand and
this is like happened a few years ago I
was Landing in in Toronto and Persian
airport as well and I have the same
situation and I'm not too sure why all
over the world like I've been traveling
all over the world and the only
um airport I found this issue was
um
prison airport and I'm not too sure why
is this a policy or were they being told
they don't have to do claims and I'm not
too sure why if the airport in like if
the airline themselves they have no
issue to report and the wise things if
like if you want to Claim about damage
or Claim about loss of your luggage
they have to do the claim and the
airline they will do the investigation
but uh I'm not too sure why they insist
and number one they insist to don't do
report number two they insist not to
give a name or information number three
they insist not to filming
and number four they just uh mentioned
that's um
uh it's illegal
to claim or to film
in airport and
as a part of
a human in this country I have the whole
right to film in public area I did not
stop on anybody privacy and this I
mentioned because a lot of people they
be
landing in the airport from their flight
and some visitors or some
new immigrant or whatever is so they
wouldn't know much about their rights
and they will believe this uh
representative he knows what he's
talking about and unfortunately this
person's and they don't even know
anything about
um the rights and it wasn't one person
that's what is most surprising thing it
was all the group they're working on the
same office which is three of them I
recognize and all of them there was 100
sure you don't have a right to film in
the airport and to shoot a video and
put them on the video so this is
something it's really really amazing to
have a company hiring people they don't
they put them on the front line with um
public and they serve up like and they
don't know the rights and this is
um like I couldn't have explanation
neither from the officer one shows up
and after he tells me you can go sir
and I couldn't get explanation and
that's why I'm sure in this video to
just
um give a word up to people to first of
all when you have a damaged bag you
don't have to stay or to stop by the
person
he gave you wrong information you always
can go to the website of the company or
the airline and it's a simple steps and
from there they take you to just process
your claim and I'm not too sure why this
office there in the airport
um
just if they cannot do report or they
cannot help you to just get through your
problem or cannot solve your problem as
well and beside this they cannot even
figure out what their rights and what
the other rights and just for the sake
of to let people understand
um what's going on I just decide to make
this video and to give the people
uh much of information about claiming
their luggage because I assume a lot of
people they wouldn't even know there is
such things to help them and beside this
here is some of the video I show this to
show
teachers and photos we are in the
airport here and 100 we have a right to
just take a video or a photo in the
airport
there is no way
our freedom would be taken by just some
employees decide not to do their job
so I'm here
within them in life
no I'm standing because you told me to
don't leave
so I think that's enough to prove uh
what's going on on the airport and I uh
wish uh some responsible or some how a
person who knows or he have authority to
give uh training to these people who
working in a public area which is
serving the public and especially when
you come along from a long trip
and you have a long flight and you just
want to go home and you want to continue
with your genre Journey but you find
these people
um it just make your life hard and
stress you out for no reason and there's
no law there is no policies there's
nothing to back them up with what they
did and I'm just trying to
understand if there is a
person or someone will help to just
spread this out to
um
to just give a guard to our community in
how to use the rights and to understand
the rights in Canada there is a lot of
Rights you should be benefit of because
you are in a wonderful country and we
should be correcting if someone who
doesn't know and he doesn't want to be
educate himself or herself with this
rights and I wish you all have a great
time and great
journey if you're traveling and just to
be aware what happened have a great day
