you’ll encounter in the video game, Black myth  Wukong. I’ll focus more on Novel journey to the  

west, on which the video game is based, instead  of the actual game plot. So that there won’t  

be too many spoilers to ruin your gaming  experience. It’s worth mentioning however,  

the plot of Black myth Wukong takes place after  Journey to the west. Just bear that in mind.  

Without further ado, let’s get into it! Jingubang 

Ruyi Jingu bang or simply Jingu bang is the name  of the staff that is wielded by Sun Wukong. It’s  

a powerful and magical weapon that can  transform itself whether huge or tiny,  

heavy or light, all depends on its master’s  will, Sun Wukong. Initially it wasn’t a  

weapon but an iron pillar located at  the East sea owned by the dragon king  

there. It served as a stabilizer of the sea  and weighed unbelievably heavy at 7,960 kg,  

according to the Novel. It was so heavy that  Nobody was able to wield it until Sun Wukong came  

and lifted it easily. He found it ideal to be  his weapon to match his immense power. Later Sun  

took it with him. When not in use, he shrinks it  down to the size of a needle and keeps it tucked  

inside his ear. Note that it has inscription of  five characters, namely Ruyi Jingu bang, on it. 

Jindouyun Jindouyun, translated  

literally as Somersault cloud, is the magic skill  that Sun Wukong used here. The cloud allows its  

rider to travel vast distances at incredible  speeds, covering thousands of miles in a single  

leap. Sun Wukong uses the Jindouyun as his primary  mode of transportation, effortlessly flying across  

the sky to perform his tasks or engage in battles.  The cloud only respond to Sun Wukong's will. 

Erlang Shen Erlang Shen, also known as Yang Jian, a  

powerful deity who often appears as a handsome  man with a third eye on his forehead, which  

grants him the ability to see through deceptions  and illusions. Erlang Shen is a skilled warrior  

as well as a demigod, known for his incredible  strength, magic spells, and mastery of various  

weapons, particularly his iconic three-pointed,  double-edged sword Sanjianliangrendao. He often  

represents the virtues of righteousness  and bravery. Erlang Shen is best known  

for subduing the Monkey King, Sun Wukong, during  the Sun’s rebellion against the celestial court  

and Jade Emperor, before journey to the west  happened. After Sun Wukong and the three other  

members completed the journey and got the sacred  scriptures finally, Sun is granted Buddhahood so  

logically becomes part of the celestial court  and colleague of Erlang Shen. But for some

in tracking down enemies or evildoers. In Journey  to the west, Xiaotian Quan plays a significant  

role in helping Erlang Shen subdue the Monkey  King, Sun Wukong, showcasing its ferocity. The dog  

is loyal only to Erlang Shen, and it almost  always appears alongside Erlang Shen.

over other gods and beings. His primary role is as  a guardian deity, and he is known for his ability  

to perform his great power, such as lifting  mountains or blocking rivers. Juling Shen serves  

under the Jade Emperor and is sent on various  missions to protect the heavens and the earth.  

Despite his formidable appearance, Juling Shen is  generally portrayed as a loyal and good-natured  

deity who uses his strength to maintain order and  protect the innocent. In journey to the west when  

Jade emperor sent out army to arrest Sun Wukong,  Juling Shen was sent as the vanguard of the army.
