today we're going to be looking at the

bulk product edit app

also known as bpe for short but

specifically

we're going to be jumping into the

variant and options function this can be

found on the left side navigation bar

or on the home page right here let's

jump in

first let's see what products we're

going to be editing

so this is the t-shirt collection as you

can see we have tank top long sleeve and

short sleeve t-shirts

each of these t-shirts has no price and

no quantity

in order to edit the product price

please see our bpe price editing

tutorial

as well as our inventory editing video

for the quantity

so let's check out this t-shirt

collection in bpe

so collection is t-shirt and let's

preview

so as you can see all of these products

that look like they didn't have a

variant

actually do have one variant each the

option name being title and the option

value being default title

it's important to note that all products

do in fact have at least one variant

so let's start adding option names and

option values to our t-shirt collection

so first instead of adding a product

option name we're going to replace text

and product option name

so let's replace title

with color let's start the task

perfect so in the collection t-shirt

we replace title with color in product

option name

so let's go check out our store

refresh let's check out tank top

as you can see we now have the option

name color

but the value is still default title so

let's change that

back to the app

go back to variant and options

so once again collection is t-shirt we

can preview

so now all three products no longer have

title as an option name

it's all color so let's change the

default title value

we want to replace text in variant

option value

we're going to pick the recommended

option and replace

default title with our default color

which will be white

let's start the task

perfect we replace the default title

with white

let's go check it out on our store

color white and if we look at another

t-shirt in the collection

like long sleeve we can see that the

same changes have been made here

so let's go back to the app

variant options collection is t-shirt

and let's preview perfect now we have

color

and white instead of the default

so let's say we want to add black as a

color

let's go ahead and do that add a variant

option value

because the current option value is

white add a new one

black based on the existing white

let's start

perfect so we added the black option

value for all products

that had the white option value let's go

check it out

refresh you can see that the long sleeve

shirt

has color white and color black

this is the same for all of the other

shirts

so let's make another change back to bpe

variant options collection is t-shirt

let's preview first we can see that the

number of variants has doubled

we had three variants before over these

three products but now we have six

variants

two variants for each product now we're

going to be adding another variant

option

name alongside color so we're going to

be adding size

add a variant option name let's put size

in here

and our default is going to be small

let's start the task

perfect so this task added the small

option value

of the option name size to all of our

products

let's check it out refresh

there we go we got small size and we

have white or black

so why don't we go ahead and add the

medium size to all of our products

random options collection is t-shirt

let's preview another important note

is that we still have the same amount of

variance only six

over three products and that's because

there's only one value for size

so all of the product variance just got

size as the default value

so let's go down add a variant option

value

add a new variant option value

based on the existing small and let's

execute

perfect so as you can see we added

medium to all of the products with a

small variant

let's go check it out refresh

as you can see we have color white and

black as well as size small and medium

and you can have a small white shirt or

a medium white shirt

or a medium black shirt or a small black

shirt

so let's go back to bpe in preview

variants and options collection is

t-shirt preview

so as you can see we have way more

variants than we did before

for each product we have the combination

of two different colors and two

different sizes

and that creates four different variants

for each product
