all have millions and millions of
experiences but even with having
millions of experiences throughout our
lives we don't learn very much we cling
to our old ways we cling to our old
belief systems there's also another
great quote from Dr Stephen Covey where
he says people are climbing the ladder
of success only to find that it was
leaning against the wrong wall they were
working so hard to get there making
progress externally and making genuine
progress as a person are two different
things you could achieve all sorts of
goals but you might not actually be
making progress as a person you might be
actually just looping looping looping
looping your past you might be of doing
everything you can to avoid facing the
truth and so everything you're doing is
actually to avoid something you don't
want so it starts by actually defining
what true progress is true progress I
love the quote all progress star it's by
telling the truth true progress means
you're actually becoming more conscious
as a human being you're becoming more
aware you're letting the unconscious
become conscious you're becoming more
aware of your own patterns your own
addictions your own habits the things
that are driving you we're all being
driven by something whether it's
avoiding something we don't want or

the future to a narrow range thoughts of
tomorrow perhaps a few weeks ahead we
are generally dealing with so many
immediate battles that it is hard for us
to lift our gaze above the moment it is
a law of power however that the further
and deeper we contemplate the future the
greater our capacity to shape it to our
desires the more conscious you become as
a human being the more you can
consciously create who you are the more
you can consciously create your own life
your own experiences you're you're no
longer unconsciously creating your life
without knowing why there are patterns
that keep coming up you become more
aware of those patterns you become aware
more of who you are you you untangle and
you shed many layers so let me go ahead
and jump into the elements of a week
that if you apply these elements you
will start growing exponentially each
week the first principle for achieving
more in a single week than most people
do in a year is giving yourself lots of
time giving yourself a few hours a week
for just honesty and introspection this
could be time walking and thinking
without having constant inputs without
needing to have except for maybe some
peaceful music but not having inputs
you're actually giving yourself time to
think to reflect to introspect to look
at your life and to be really honest
with yourself all progress starts by
telling the truth if you're not being
honest with yourself but if you're not
giving yourself time to think time to
reflect time to analyze your life time
to analyze the forest and the trees if
you're not giving yourself space to
think and introspect and to learn about
yourself to review the patterns of
things that are going on but also to
look at the direction you're going
there's a really good quote from J.M
Berry he is the playwright who wrote the
original version of Peter Pan he said
the life of every person is a diary in
which she he keeps one Journal while
meaning to write another his most humble
hour is when he compares the volume as
he's writing it with what he wanted it
to be so all of our lives are a diary or
a journal which we're currently creating
while we were wanting to write something
else and so our humblest hour is when
we're comparing what we have what we
have been writing in terms of the Diary
of our lives and we compare it to what
we wanted it to be or what we vowed it
would be if we actually listen to
ourselves if we peel away the layers
it's kind of like Michelangelo stripping
away the layers of the David the pope
asked Michelangelo how do you how do you
have such genius you know in creating
the David the statue of David and he
said it's easy I just take away
everything that's not David well you
have to strip away a lot of what your
current identity is what your current
personality is what your current goals
are strip that away that's a lot of what
all all progress starts by telling the
truth being honest and starting to
untangle things and starting to realize
oh this is why I've been doing things
this way oh this is the pattern that I
didn't realize was happening oh this is
what I've been creating and contributing
to in my life whether it's in your
relationships and your income Etc oh I
was totally committed to this story or
this idea of the past or this idea about
those other people you start to just
become honest and so a key element
obviously of having a week where you're
making rapid progress towards your
future self and also towards just making
genuine Evolution as a person is giving
yourself plenty of time regularly daily
but also
just often could be in your Journal it
could be out walking but this is really
the true essence of meditation
meditation is really two things it's
about getting really honest with
yourself peeling away the layers and
becoming aware it's also about
consciously creating it's about
visualization and ultimately creating
what you want those are the two aspects
of becoming conscious is becoming more
aware of yourself and then becoming more
conscious of what you want and creating
that in your life so if you're not
taking time in your week
on a daily basis it might be 15 to 30
minutes in the morning or at the end of
the day most people as soon as they wake
up they plug straight back into the to
The Matrix they're giving themselves low
level dopamine they're being reactive to
everything around them and then at the
end of the day they're doing the same
thing they're never actually fully
living they're just always reacting
responding they're always at surface
level they're never going deep into flow
they're never fully on never fully off
they're just bouncing from thing to
thing they're a bunch of subconscious
loops and then your brain you know while
you're sleeping ultimately is where all
of the where most of the deep learning
happens and because people haven't been
deep thinking learning introspecting and
reframing just who they are and what
life is all about and then they're
they're not getting deep sleep because
of their habits around technology then
they're not transforming a lot but if
you can spend less time plugged in less
time with less inputs and more time
genuinely just thinking reflecting
reviewing observing honestly also having
good conversations with key people and
getting feedback from the outside world
you know from those who who you trust
and those who you care about being
honest about what they see that you
might be blind to if you're willing to
expose yourself and exposure is a key
principle of learning and growth if
you're willing to expose yourself rather
than hide from the truth if you're well
a lot of people they just don't want the
truth they don't want to expose
themselves they don't want to be they
don't want to expose themselves to their
own truth but they also don't want to
expose themselves to other people
if you're willing to expose yourself to
other people in other words you expose
your faults your fears your dreams
and also if you let other people expose
aspects of yourself that you don't want
to see wow you can make real progress
maybe a real honest conversation with
yourself or what someone else might lead
to more progress in a day or in an hour
than many people experience in a full
year of staying unconscious principle
number two of achieving more and growing
more true growth true true
transformation in a single week than
most people do in a year is giving
yourself lots of time for high quality
learning actually giving yourself time
to listen to material that stretches you
material that challenges you material
that reshapes your worldview our input
shapes our Outlook our input shapes our
world view you yourself the person who's
watching this or listening to this you
have a map of the world you have a view
of the world which you don't see the
world as it is you see the world as you
are we all have a subjective view of
reality none of us see the world
objectively and you're constantly
reshaping that view of Reality by what
you're letting in
as a whole most people consume
entertainment based media or just very
low level Media news news feeds most
people's input is around 80
entertainment and it's low level
entertainment and maybe 28 or less
education you want to reverse that where
80 of your input is education and maybe
20 is entertainment there's nothing
wrong with entertainment especially
wholesome flow-based entertainment where
you're with family or friends or just
honestly just enjoying something there's
nothing wrong with that again your input
shapes your outlook and so if you're
giving yourself a few hours at least
every week for deep learning it's not
just about
um inputting as well it's about thinking
about your thinking thinking about your
learning processing what you're learning
writing about it thinking about how this
changes everything
if you're giving yourself space I
believe the average person or at least
the average person in America reads
maybe one to two books a year but what
would happen if you started reading one
to two books per week and they were
challenging books high quality less
quantity if you're consuming really high
quality really challenging really
stimulating information that reshaped
your worldview reshaped what you think
is possible reshaped how you view
yourself reshaped what you think you can
do as human beings we want more of what
we do and so if you consume Donuts
you're going to want more Donuts if you
spend lots of time on Facebook you're
going to want more of that if you we
always want more of what we're doing and
so when you actually start learning your
brain's going to want to do more
learning your brain's going to want to
transform more and so if you give
yourself more and more time for True
learning and not just inputting but
actually like thinking about it
processing it applying it thinking about
why this changes things and then
starting to put things into practice
which requires commitment and courage
and also integration the integration of
learning means you've learned something
and now you're actually truly applying
it just by learning one thing you can
alter your course a little bit and by
altering your course even one degree
that one degree over a year might take
you
decades away from where you thought you
would be the next one is really
important I love the book deep work by
Cal Newport he talks about how focus is
the IQ of the 21st century we live in a
world where focus is very difficult
because of all the distractions all the
inputs the technology our addictions
just constant pings and things if you
can focus
real deep focus deep flow-based focus if
you can focus for good stretches of time
on one thing at a time without any
interruptions in other words if you can
go into deep flow and experience deep
Mastery and actually make genuine
progress on something then you will grow
and learn more you will achieve more
there's a great book on this topic as
well called catching the Big Fish by
David Lynch and he talks about how
Consciousness is like the ocean and if
you have a low level Consciousness then
basically you're just catching you're at
the surface you're at the surface and
there's only small fish at the surface
and so that's the level of thinking that
you have small thinking small fish small
opportunities small feature self small
changes
um very micro whereas if you go deep
and meditation and Consciousness and
creativity are about depth not
shallowness if you go really really deep
that's where the big fish are that's
where the big ideas are that's where the
big Transformations are you can go
really deep in one day without all the
distractions if you're just allowing
yourself to go deep really deep into
deep work I recently finished writing my
sixth major book called 10x is easier
than 2X and on my to-do list usually for
about a four month period of time I only
have one thing on my to-do list right
for like six hours just go as deep as I
could and because I was going deep deep
deep deep
the level of changes in my mindset the
level of changes in my belief system the
level of changes in my subconscious were
crazy in a week how much time are you
spending doing true deep work deep focus
without any distraction
how many hours did you spend focusing on
one thing without any ping or ding
without any distraction just going
really deep into your thinking really
deep into learning really deep into
creating if you
invest even five hours or five to ten
hours of true deep work where you're
deep in flow there's no distractions and
you're really only focused on one thing
and it's really focused learning or
focused creating how could you not
achieve more
than most people most people are not
doing deep work they're doing very
shallow distracted work and they're
never really in flow another aspect of
this is deep recovery how much are
people truly recovering like fully
recovering one really interesting aspect
of flow and what I'm really talking
about is the research on the flow Focus
flow and Recovery flow is that flow is
synonymous with Peak experience
pick experience according to Abraham
Maslow are what transforms people and so
flow is another word for Peak experience
if you're really deep in doing deep work
in flow you're having a peak experience
but also if you're really recovering if
you're really opening up yourself up if
you're doing something new something
novel or if you're really connecting
with someone recovery flow is about
expanding yourself having new
experiences or connecting with other
people a good question I guess you would
ask is how much deep flow are you having
Focus flow and Recovery flow but also a
similar question would be just how many
transformational Peak experiences are
you having on a weekly basis if you're
having phenomenal Peak experiences on a
weekly basis many people the peak
experiences of their lives are random
whereas if you're designing your life
designing your day where you're going
really really deep and transforming your
thinking you're also being really honest
with yourself but then you're gonna be
having really seismic Peak experiences
if you're connecting with yourself if
you're connecting with your loved ones
if you're going out and trying new
things then you're going to be expanding
you're going to be having lots of big
experiences that's how you
self-actualize as a person that's also
how you transcend your current self and
become someone new so a question would
be how many Peak experiences are you
having where you walk away and you feel
expanded as a person you feel alive you
feel new you feel different because of
the level of focus and the
transformation and change because of
that focus and Innovation or because of
the level of connection or the level of
novelty so if you want to achieve more
in a week than most people do in a year
then have higher and deeper Peak
experiences more expansive Peak
experiences but also more it's kind of
they say it's Contracting and expanding
contract expand contract expand the more
you can do that in in deeper bigger
expansions deeper contractions the
bigger your Peak experience is the more
expanded you will be so you ultimately
want to build your life around having
bigger and bigger Peak experiences Peak
experiences are transformational
shifting experiences where you're now a
different person as a result I love the
quote from George Bernard Shaw he said
that a mind that has been expanded by a
new experience can never go back to its
former Dimensions Peak experiences are
not created equal some are very shallow
some are very deep you could have little
Peak experiences and I wouldn't really
call that very Peak
or you could have very deep ones but a
mind that is stretched by a new
experience cannot go back and so if
you're having very deep focused and very
deep learning and very deep
introspection but also very open and
humble experiences I love the concept
that the opposite of addiction is
connection and so as you're really open
as you're really honest as you're with
other people and you create genuine
connections with other people with your
loved ones I I as an example I'm married
and I have six kids and when I actually
get closer with my kids and I'm humble
and I I really care about what's
interesting to them and and I don't just
react and respond but I'm genuinely
listening I can grow and change so much
in a day whereas or I can just live on
loops and just be the same person see
them the same way not change not be
aware not be mindful so you want to have
lots of peak experiences in your week
and you will have lots of peak
experiences if you're doing lots of
introspection
lots of learning lots of deep work and
lots of recovery the final component of
a week where you could make more
progress in a week than many people if
not most people do in a year is by
making power moves towards your future
self this is where you're stretching
yourself you're actually being
courageous and you're striving for
things way outside your comfort zone
there are three core elements of flow
one is having clear goals if you don't
have a clear goal then it's really hard
to know where to focus but another
aspect is risk or immediate consequences
if you're trying something that has has
risk some form of exposure you have to
commit and be courageous in order to be
in a in a deep Flow State and so when
you commit yourself and when you're
exposing yourself when you're trying new
things and when you have the chance of
failing or getting rejected that
triggers all sorts of flow and so
exposing yourself where there's there's
consequences there's there's feedback
there's you know you're you got to be
humble you're opening yourself up
exposing yourself to other people
exposing yourself to yourself being
honest with yourself being honest with
other people but also making power moves
where you're genuinely attempting things
that might not work where that's what
courage is is trying things that might
not work attempting things failing
trying new things being willing to get
rejected I've shared this before but one
of my favorite books of 2022 is go for
no yes is the destination but knows how
you get there when I was listening to
that book one day I was walking around
my neighborhood listening to that book
and it taught me something that led me
to making one of the most courageous
moves that I've made in years there was
something that I'd been avoiding for
years something I'd been holding on to
something that I'd been afraid to do for
years and just by simply going on an
hour walk and listening to that book it
gave me the Insight gave me the
commitment the courage to go and do it
and I went and sent an email that
terrified me that had massive
repercussions there was huge exposure on
my part and huge potential consequences
your input shapes your outlook if you're
not giving yourself time to walk to
think to learn higher quality things
then you'd you're you're just basically
just on autopilot if you're just
consuming entertainment and you're not
actually learning then you're not
changing and you're not applying higher
and higher level thinking but if you're
giving yourself space I mean I gave
myself space in the morning to go on a
walk I was listening to a really great
book and it hit me so hard that I went
then and I applied it I integrated my
learning and I immediately sent an email
that terrified me I went for no on a
very high level and the consequences
were high and after I sent that email
all of a sudden some you know what's
crazy is when you act courageously
immediately after the fact
because you're so deep in flow you learn
so much and so if you're not committing
to your future stuff if you're not being
courageous towards your future self and
making power moves and going for no then
you're not transforming a lot but if
you're regularly making courageous power
moves with high stakes with high
exposure with high risk it's either
social risk or economic risk like if
you're not taking if you're not being
courageous and making big decisions and
going for no and making power moves
towards your desired future self then
you're not you're not advancing very
much and how many people are truly
you know going for rejection at a high
level how many people are willing to
expose themselves and have inner
commitment inner certainty that they're
okay I'm okay I don't need this
opportunity or situation I'm okay if I
if I if I lose this I'll find some other
way uh my confidence is in myself and in
God and so these are principles that if
you apply you can achieve more you can
grow more you can transform more you can
you can expand more in a week than most
people do in a year maybe even a decade
if you apply these Concepts every week
