Transcripts
Friends, are you thinking of planning a trip to Ladakh
by road and are confused about what should be your day by day route or tour plan?
In the last episode of this series, I told you that if you go to Ladakh by flight. So
what should be your item list? Today let's talk about brother, if you want to plan a road trip
to Ladakh then what should be your item list? Let's start again.
Friends, if you are new to this channel then my name is Dheeraj and I am a friend of all of you.
Let me help you in making those Himalayan trips memorable. Let
's come back to the topic and talk about Ladakh road trip. Now the first question that comes
in this is that why should one go to Ladakh by road? Dheeraj. Brother, see
friends, I have given the answer to this question many times in my old videos that
Ladakh is a high altitude region where the altitude is
above 10,000 feet, then if your body is at 100 feet , then If it reaches a height of 10000 feet from feet,
then it will not be able to adapt, the risk of getting acute mountain sickness, which happens there,
increases if you increase the altitude suddenly,
so now when you plan by road. If you do a road trip then this is the most recommended one
so that your altitude increases gradually. This is the most recommended
or perfect option. I say that of Ladakh, we will start from Srinagar highway
and return from Manali highway. Why is this because
the altitude increases gradually on the Srinagar highway
, so your body gets adapted to the high altitude of Ladakh and
when you reach there, you may have health issues or acute mountain sickness.
If we compare it, if we take Manali and go by highway, now on
the first day, we will start from Delhi and I am assuming that
you are anywhere in the world, somewhere in India . But you have
reached Delhi or Chandigarh and are starting your journey from there by road. Now
you have two options to spend your first day and night. The first
option is That you can reach Jammu from Delhi or Chandigarh and the other option
is that you can reach Patni Top. If you are starting from Chandigarh then I
would recommend that you reach Patni Top but you are starting from Delhi.
If you are there, then the drive till Patni Top will be around 14 hours, so it can be a bit difficult,
especially if you are elderly with families and have children with you,
then I would recommend that brother, you should go to Jammu and stop now. On the second day,
we will start from Jammu or from Patni Top and we will go to Srinagar and
from Jammu, if you go to Srinagar, then you can assume that it
will take you approximately 8-9 hours. If you go from Patni Top, then approximately It will take you around 5 hours,
so in this way you can end your day at Srinagar. Now
if you reach Srinagar early, then you can explore Dal Lake, Shalimar Garden,
Nagin. You can explore the lake , you can visit some markets, you
can eat some good food, you can try Kashmiri cuisine there, be it Waban or
Kashmiri Dama Aloo, which is my favorite because I am a vegetarian, so you
can try it there. The authentic foot which is when the evening comes, the sunset
looks very beautiful on Dal Lake, so go to Dal Lake in the evening, take Shikara ride there
and do shopping in the floating market there, do that and return.
Come and sleep. Now you can either stay in hotels near you to sleep or
if you want to enjoy the house boat then you can sleep on Dal Lake itself or
Nageen Lake is also there inside Srinagar. You will get the house boats which are there. Now
on the third day we will leave for Ladakh. From Srinagar, we will start from Srinagar
and will end the third day in Gil by going over Zojila Pass.
When you start from Srinagar early in the morning, you will go to Sonamarg. It will take you about three and a half hours. There
is a very beautiful road in between Sonamarg and
Srinagar . You can spend about half an hour and an hour in Sonamarg
and then Zojila Pass from there is a very I would say adventurous pass. It used to be an adventurous pass.
The road has been maintained to a great extent but there are still goosebumps when
you are going towards Zojila Pass . He will come and from there
then move ahead towards Dras and Kargil. Now in Dras you will get very good Rajma rice. There
is Ali Dhaba there, you can eat Rajma rice there and then
after going from there, Kargil War Memorial will come, you will miss it. Don't do this, you will feel very patriotic
there, go there and have evening tea in the army canteen there
and go to Kargil till evening or late night and spend the night in your hotel. Now, which
is the fourth day, we are from Kargil. We will start towards Le and on the fourth day we
will reach Le by night. We will see many beautiful landscapes of Ladakh which is
called Baron Landscape. When you start from Kargil, you
will come to a place called Malbek where You can stop and
they have carved a statue of a Buddha inside the whole mountain, you can
spend some time there, look at it and then from Malbek, when you start further,
then both of them. Passes will come, you will cross both the passes.
After crossing the passes, you will visit Lama Yuru, which is also called Moonland, which
is the soil formation of the mountains. It is such that brother, you feel that you have reached the moon, so
you can visit the monastery. You can have food in the restaurant there. Now
when you start from Lama Uru and go towards Le, you will come across very beautiful
locations in between or there are also side seeing places. The whole Sham Valley is between Lama Uru and Le.
Now what all comes in these major places, I will say that you
can cover the confluent which is the confluent of Zanskar River and the confluent of Indus River
which you will see around Nibu, Bajgo Plains which is Bajgo Ras Fort. You can cover it there,
that too will come on the way, you do not need to take diversion anywhere,
then if you move ahead from there, you will come across Magnetic Hills and Gurdwara Patthar Sahib,
both of them will also come on the road . While visiting both of them, you will come across them. You can reach Le now
because there are so many places between Kargil and Le, I would recommend you
to leave Kargil early in the morning so that you cover all these places
and reach Le, in this way on the fourth day You must have reached Le and you must be feeling very
good inside . Spend time in the main market of Le,
go to Chang Spa Road, find a good restaurant, eat there and
have a good rest at night. Also, if you travel in the Himalayas, then
travel with full responsibility and do not spread any garbage there. Now
what we will do on the fifth day is that we will stay in a lay and rest.
Today we will rest in a lay which is local side seeing. In this
you can visit Shankar Gompa, you can visit Le Palace, you can go to Hall of
Fame, go to Shanti Stupa in the evening, watch the sunset, in the evening
the view of Le City below is very beautiful and Then come down to Chang Spa Road again, there
are many good restaurants where you can eat food and
rest at night and if you have come by public transport or
by taking a taxi or taxi from outside, If yes, then you can also arrange
your local taxi on the fifth day. If you want the contacts of the local taxi driver, then
I have given them in the description of this video. Please refer to them and
you can directly contact the local taxi driver. You can connect to them now by moving forward
First let me tell you an important aspect which is the permit. Now the domestic tourists inside Ladakh
who are Indians do not need any permit. The permit system which is in place for the last one or two years
has been scrapped. All you have to do is pay the environment fee.
And the fee structure is that you will have to pay Rs 400 one time and
secondly you will have to pay wildlife fee which is βΉ per day per person. Now this
is per person. If there are five people in your group then you can calculate it. You can do this by multiplying it by five.
Apart from this, there is a Red Cross Fund fee which is Rs. 50, it is optional, if
you have to pay then two, if you do not want to pay then do not pay. Now after making the payment,
you can either pay it in the receipt of environment fee. You can carry it in your
phone as a soft copy or take a printout of it as a hard copy and carry it with you. When
you cross the Ladakh side, different check posts will come in between, so
this is the receipt there. Your random can be seen.
Now coming back to Atan, now on the sixth day you will go out to visit or see the beautiful valleys of
Ladakh which is the site Sing of Ladakh and this is the sixth day, on this day we will start from Le and
We will go to Nabra Valley, while passing Khardungla, stop there, take photos,
wait for 10-15 minutes at high altitude, have soup there, if
you want to drink it in the canteen, go to Khardungla and then go down from there towards Nubra Valley.
Now there are two places in Nubra Valley, one is Hunder and the other is Dista, so first of all
you will come to Dista, what you can do there is that there is a monastery in Dista, one can visit that,
the famous monastery of Dista and the Lord Buddha of the monastery is above there. There is a 106
108 feet high statue which you can see, it is a very tall statue and the
view from that terrace is of Nubra Valley or Nder and this is Keith's Valley which is visible from there,
it is a very beautiful view, so see it. Don't forget to visit it. Like this,
Nder is 78 km further from this kit town. Where you will find Sadhus, there you will find double
headed bacterial camels . You can do his camel safari inside Nder. Now
on the seventh day, we will start from Nder or Diste. We will do this and go towards Pangong Lake, now
it is possible that sometimes this Shok route gets closed, then there is another route which
goes to Pangong Lake via Warila Pass, it is a very long route, you can choose your journey which is
next . You will plan the day accordingly, leave early, if the hobby route is closed,
then on the other hand, if you go to Pangong via Nubra Valley via the hobby route
, it will take you around five to one hours and you can spend your night in Pangong.
You can enjoy Pangong Lake in the evening. You can enjoy the sunset there.
Sumur and Panamik are two more major tourist attractions which come in Nubra Valley,
so if you want to visit them then I would advise you to visit them early in the morning.
Leave very early, that is, leave around 7:00 am. If you delay
in leaving in the morning , it may take some night on the way to Pangong Lake. Now it has been seven days. On
the eighth day, wake up at Pangong Lake in the morning and enjoy the sunrise. Have breakfast
wherever you are staying in the camp or home stay and from there return back
towards the journey which you have started by going over the Changla Pass. Now,
when you go down completely, which is Changla Pass . Shakti Village will come and
there are many monasteries between Shakti Village and Le, which are among the major monasteries of Ladakh,
so you can visit them too. If you want to visit the monastery, then you will have to leave early
from Pangong Lake so that you can visit it. There are monasteries, you can enjoy them, it
takes some time inside these monasteries, so if
you leave from Pangong Lake early in the morning, then these monasteries which fall on this way, their names are She Maso Takna of Chemre Hemis Thix,
so you can visit all these monasteries. You can do this
while coming from Pangong towards Le which is your ninth day. Take complete rest and
enjoy the main market. Do all the shopping you want to do for home from the main market.
Buy everything near you, etc. there and then
eat a good meal somewhere in the evening. Find a good restaurant on
Chang Spa Road or in the main market and then take rest. Otherwise,
skip this day and proceed further inside It Nari. Now if I assume that you
have taken a rest day. On the ninth day, which will be your 10th day, you will start from Le,
passing through Chuma Thang, you reach Sumori Lake. Sumori Lake is a very beautiful lake. If
I have to choose between the two lakes, then I will prefer Sumori Lake
over Pangong Lake. But if This is your first trip to Ladakh so I would say go to Pangong only,
so don't go to Mori because then you will have FOMO and not fear of missing
something, then he will come that friend, I did not go to Pangong, I went to Somo Ri, it
is a distance of 240 km. This and it is going to take you about 8-9 hours to drive on this day
, so leave a little early in the morning after having breakfast because you
have rested on the first day, now go to Sori, you can stay in any camp or home stay.
You can stop there and the road between Chuma Thang and Sumori is very beautiful,
you are going to have a lot of fun, especially on that road
it will seem very remote type, you will get a lot of photo breaks, so take them and Enjoy the entire journey from Jo Hai
Le to Sumori while going through Chuma Thang. Now this is the 11th day,
on this day we will start our return journey home. We
will leave from Sumori Lake early in the morning and sleep at Jo Hai Lake. Via that, we will come to Manali Highway, we
will exit there and from Manali Highway, we will reach directly via Pang,
we can spend some time at Sarchu Sokar Lake, we can take tea and snacks there and then
start from there and you will reach Manali Highway. After taking the exit,
you will come to a location there and from there you will go to Pang. Now when you start the journey from Pang to Sarchu,
then again it will feel like you have come to some other planet. The soil
formation is there and there are mountains. It is very interesting, so by the time you reach Sarchu,
you will come to Akila Pass, you will have crossed it, it is a very high mountain pass, that too
on Manali Highway, you will come to Lachung Pass, after crossing it, you will come to Gata Loops which
are hair pin bands there. The views below are also very good, so
you are going to have a lot of fun during this journey between Pang and Sarchu, so you will leave from Sumori
early and enjoy this journey and take photos.
So, it is going to be a lot of fun. Now, which will be the 12th day, we
will start from Sar Chu. Bara La Chala pass will come first. We will cross it first. If you
are going in the early time of the season, then you will get a lot of snow on Bara La Chala pass. As soon as you cross La Chhala
Pass, you will see a very beautiful inscription below Suraj Tal, then as soon as
you move ahead from Suraj Tal, after going a little distance you will find Deepak Tal which
is on the right side and while walking from there you will come to Jispa. There are hotels, dhabas etc.
there you can eat food. Similarly, when you start from Sipa, you
will come to Keylong which is a major town. There will be a waterfall in Sisu of Lahaul district
which is before Atal Tunnel. You can see it. Yes, the distance from Sarchu to Manali is
approximately 5 to 6 hours. Let's say with photo tow, you can cover the
local side seeing etc. in Manali. If you want to do that then you can do that too.
Rest wise, go to the hotel in Manali, roam around the mall road there and
eat food. Now it has been 12 days, now it is the 13th day. In this, you
will start from Manali and leave for Delhi. From Manali, you will reach Delhi. The journey
will take you approximately 12 to 14 hours depending on how many breaks you take. There
are landslides and traffic in between. How much is it? Keeping all this in mind,
let us assume that it will take you approximately 12 to 14 hours between Manali and Delhi
and the feeling of coming back from Ladakh, you can do what is called Sokan.
Now there are some optional days in this. Let's also talk about if you want to visit immediately
then either you can take the rest day which we took, you can go and do a day trip by tutuk in Nabara Valley
and utilize that day if you have 14 days. Leave that day too and visit
it immediately, it is a heaven type place and from there you can go till the
border of Pakistan which is our border area, Tyakshi Village
and can also see the border . That is, brother
, I have to come to Siachen Base Camp also, so again friends, Siachen Base Camp is also
a part of Nabra Valley and the Sumro Panamik that I talked about
goes further from there. If you have the luxury of a few days, then You add one more day to Nabra Valley
and then go to Siachen Base Camp. If you want to add Nale to this, then
go to Hanle via Pangong Le, come to Somore via Nale, then come back to Manali via Sori.
Go, but what will happen in this , the availability of petrol
will not be available on this entire route, so you will have to carry extra petrol.
Now talking about Nala, then why leave Umlingla Pass behind? Brother,
Umlingla Pass . Which is as I told that Umlingla Pass is the highest road, the highest pass
in the world . You can start early in the morning and go to Umlingla Pass from Nale
and if the day is short then you can go to Umlingla Pass on the same day towards Somor Lake. If the day
is more then I will tell you thoroughly enjoy that route,
spend one more day in Lale, go to Umlingala pass from Nale, come back to Nale and spend the night, then friends,
this complete detail in this video is a lightener which is a road trip.
Now in the end, I wanted to share with you how to plan Ladakh successfully,
if you liked this video then please like this video and subscribe to my channel
and if you think anyone else will also like it then please. Share
