what is going on guys welcome back to
the channel in today's video we are
going to be back to work on my 2023 BMW
M4 as you guys seen in the previous
episode we finally got this thing
running and driving and I got to say
that's a pretty big accomplishment
because this car was absolutely
destroyed on every corner except the
driver's side which is pretty crazy but
we're making some pretty good progress
in today's video we are going to be
focusing on getting this quarter panel
repaired I'm going to try to pull it all
out and see if we can fix it I'm not
sure if we can but it's definitely going
to test my skills and honestly it's not
too bad if you look in the back it is
pushed in right here but most of the
impact is right here I think he did
actually hit a telephone pull that's
what I seen in the picture I mean all
the gaps look really good like this top
Gap is pretty much perfect this Gap over
here is pretty much perfect that
basically means that the entire rear of
the car did not shift over usually the
gaps will tell you everything you need
to know basically if the Gap is like
super small right here you would know
that the entire frame rails are shifted
over if it's too big B but all the gaps
here look pretty good this one is a
little bit bigger at the top but I'm
thinking once you pull this out right
here that will simply go all back into
place but man this car is is getting
there it's it's almost ready for paint
all we have to do is basically knock out
that quarter penal right there and what
say this entire front end we are going
to be taking this car down to Florida to
a guy named Candyman and he's basically
going to paint the entire car he does a
lot of big projects like this and he
knows how to paint Matt which is a
pretty big deal cuz Matt paint is not as
simple as regular paint you can see it's
matte so if you do get like some dirt or
trash in your paint job you really can't
buff it at all cuz as soon as you buff
matte paint it just turns shiny and you
basically ruin the paint whenever you
start buffing it so you got to have a
really good paint booth and you got to
be really professional at painting it
and honestly I don't really want to risk
painting it myself or having my brother
paint it cuz he's never painted matte
and nobody else here has painted matte
before and it's a huge job in this
material is expensive I think the clear
coat alone is like like 1,00 bucks 2,000
bucks just for matte clear coat which is
pretty crazy and I definitely don't want
to be spinning that twice so first thing
we need to do is I think we're going to
disassemble this rear left side
basically take off the rest of this tail
light you can see it's just broken up
there probably take off that plastic get
that off right there also we can go
ahead and remove the fender liner and
then inside I think we can probably get
some access inside here if we pull off
this side cover 100% can so we'll pull
that off and see what kind of access we
can get into there and we do actually
have a new piece check this out right
here bam we have a whole new side pocket
right there which is going to be really
nice cuz we can just replace that one
and get everything back into the correct
position so I say let's get straight to
work let's pop this wheel off right here
get it up on the jack stand start
stripping it
[Music]
down
[Music]
so check it out we got the entire
quarter panel all nice and stripped down
and honestly I got to say it doesn't
look as bad as it did when all the
damage parts were still on here
basically we had a little bit of a tear
right here and it popped all these spot
welds off off look at that right there
didn't really rip too much of the
material which I'm super happy about
that and everything seems to be
relatively flat there's no like too big
of uh creases going on here then if we
go up to the top everything over here
looks perfect there's no damage anywhere
by the tail light pocket which is nice
and then check it out inside right here
there's these amplifiers I think or like
I don't know what these are a couple of
computer modules which I'm just happy
that none of them got damaged it simply
just pushed them all out of the way and
check it out there's so much room in
here basically just to push everything
everything out perfectly obviously we
have a new pan right there so we can
just replace that pretty simple but I
think what we're going to do is start
doing some slight pulls on it or I guess
we just start pushing it out I'm not
sure how we're going to do it right now
if I had a frame machine this job would
be super easy but unfortunately we don't
have a frame machine which I'm hoping to
get one probably this year I just don't
really do too much frame jobs anymore
which I kind of want to get back into it
let me know down below should I get a
frame machine and start doing more frame
jobs I think you guys would love that a
lot but anyways I'm going to go ahead
and get set up and start thinking on how
to pull this panel out so let's get
straight to it and I think we're just
going to grab a hammer and a piece of
wood and just go straight to town on it
and see if we can get this quarter panel
pulled out
[Music]
properly
[Music]
[Music]
n
[Music]
so check it out we got the entire
quarter panel nice and pushed on I got
to say it is coming out nicely I mean
it's almost there there's going to be a
lot more work I'm kind of doing all the
hammer and Dolly work before we actually
pull out my maxi Dent po I want to get
everything almost into the correct
position before we start doing any of
the actual finalizing touches with the
polar and now what we need to do is
remove this plate completely as you can
see this actually slides all the way up
in there and I've already cut most of it
off because I wanted to get some of the
tension off of it and basically just
going to replace this entire piece right
here and I think we'll be able to
straighten all this out perfectly get
everything welded up and there's a lot
of AIS back here so we can actually
Dolly this out perfectly make sure
there's only a super thin layer of Bondo
on this car and yeah that should be good
but now what we're going to do is
actually go ahead and finally remove
this entire piece right here there's a
couple of spot Wells down here here
couple of spot welds up here and get
everything removed and then we can
continue moving on and then finish this
up right here then we'll get the Maxi
out straighten it all out dude and this
quarter pound will be
[Music]
complete
[Music]
n
[Music]
a
[Music]

[Music]
he
so check it out we got the quarter panel
pushed out as far as possible now it's
time to go to the next stage which is
we're going to need to grind off all the
paint off this quarter panel and we're
actually going to weld a couple of pens
on here with our Maxi Dent fix equipment
this thing is an absolute Beast whether
you're pulling stuff out whether you're
shrinking stuff it basically does
everything if you don't own one of these
and you do body work you are seriously
missing out so basically what we need to
do right now is sand down all this paint
right here basically to bare metal so we
can start preparing it to weld some pens
on I mean that's pretty much the only
area that doesn't really want to come
out right there so we're definitely have
to work this area out and get this body
line perfect the damage area is really
not that much I mean there's just going
to be a little bit of filler like that
just a super thin layer not nothing too
crazy I think there's a slight Dent up
here but honestly you can just pop that
out from the bottom but anyways let's go
ahead and get started on this quarter
panel let's start standing down this
entire quarter pound to bare
[Music]
metal
[Music]
[Music]

[Music]

[Music]
so check we finally got done pulling the
entire quarter panel on I got to say it
turned out pretty freaking good we did
have to do a little bit of welding down
there still not 100% done as you can see
it still needs a little bit more
grinding and a little bit more welding
but what I want to do right now is
actually test fit the new rear bumper
put the tail light on and kind of see if
everything is lining up cuz I haven't
done that yet and this quarter panel was
pretty pushed in but I mean look at that
it pulled out pretty good it's almost in
the correct spot everything is looking
good it's definitely going to need a lot
more work but I think once we put the
bumper on we start getting a better idea
of how everything's pulling out we have
a new bumper right here check it out
brand new from the dealer in this little
box right here and then we have our new
bumper brackets in the big box we have a
bumper bracket for this side and then we
have a bumper bracket for this side over
here because this one is a little bit
broken I also had to get new sensors I
got one for this side and then one for
the passenger side but let's go ahead
and unbox this bumper and also get the
brackets and we can just go ahead and
start installing everything onto the car
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
so I went ahead and put the new bracket
the tail light and the rear bumper on
and I got to say it is not looking good
at all as you can see right here it just
does not want to line up well I mean
obviously I could adjust the Brack it up
a little bit but it turns out right here
the metal was too thin and I was trying
to adjust it out a little bit more and
it just started cracking I guess I
sanded down too much of the quarter
panel so we are going to have to
probably replace this quarter panel
which I did not want to do but honestly
it probably is going to be for the best
and I'm going to say I kind of failed on
this quarter panel maybe if I would have
took more time or put it on a frame
machine I could have pulled it out but
honestly a new quarter panel is going to
be so much better we're not going to
have to do any filler work right here
and the Tail's going to sit properly the
rear bumper is going to sit properly but
honestly it looks pretty cool we got the
bumper on there you know the cars coming
together now we have all the body panels
on the car the only thing we are missing
is just a couple of plastic pieces so I
mean we're making a little bit of
progress on there I'm kind of bummed out
about that quarter panel which it's not
the worst cuz I knew in the back of my
head I'm probably going to have to
replace this thing either way maybe I
could have just filled it in with a
little bit of body filler but this is a
BMW M4 2023 these things I could
probably sell this thing for like 75
maybe 65,000 60,000 and I really don't
want to be doing this much body filler
on this car but it is kind of
unfortunate so we are going to head down
to the dealer and see if we can get a
new quarter panel hopefully there's some
available in the United States cuz last
time I went to the dealer he said they
are on back order and he doesn't know
when they can get them or there's some
in Germany which is like 3 weeks
shipping which kind of sucks but it's
okay cuz I am going on vacation next
week so maybe I can order it today or
tomorrow and it'll be here when I get
back I mean it it almost came out we
were close almost there but you can see
the tail light wasn't fitting good there
I mean it just needs way more work than
I really want to put into a quarter
panel and this ain't even all of it then
we have to body fill it weld everything
up seam seal everything make sure
nothing leagues and then in the back
here let's go and pop this
up look at look what it looks like in
the back it does I mean it doesn't look
the worst first obviously you could sand
all that down and give it a nice paint
job and it look decent but honestly I'm
just I'm a little bummed out about it
but I think it's for the better what do
you guys think probably probably should
have just replaced the quarter panel in
the first place but I wanted to test my
skills and see how we could have pulled
it out I mean we got pretty close I got
to say if that metal right there wasn't
too thin and we could have just pulled
this side out pulled that up a little
bit adjusted it I think it would have
been good I definitely don't want to
butcher this car obviously it's a super
nice car but I mean it won't be too hard
all we have to do is take out this rear
window take out this side window right
here and I think BMW has a pretty cool
procedure where you don't even weld the
quarter panel on all we're going to do
is splice it in right here with a panel
Bond and some special type of uh it's
like bolts that bolt in definitely have
to do a little bit more research in
there but unfortunately we are going to
have to go inside here and we're going
to get rid of all these stickers right
here which is going to kind of suck but
I think you can buy all these stick
stickers brand new probably get that
sticker right there from the BMW
dealership just to make sure everything
looks Factory that's going to be
definitely more work than I
imagine all righty guys we are pulling
up to BMW of Chattanooga let's see if
they have this quarter
panel in here real
quick I want to know if I can buy that
big old BMW logo right there slap it up
in the shop let's go in here and talk to
the general
manager not a lot of BMWs over here
one of those
x3s y those actually look pretty cool I
think those are the new
m24s dang those are freaking sick they
look pretty
cool got every color you could possibly
want
here check it out they have two g80s
over here oh that's a g82 and then a G8
G80 that's pretty
cool just park right here
check this thing out it's pretty
sick it's got to be one of the coolest
BMWs ever
made Dam with those
wheels that is freaking
[Music]
awesome
XM
[Music]
D this is almost the same spec as mine
doesn't have the laser headlights
though dang look at this
interior it's pretty cool in 2024 they
put the big screen here it goes all the
way
over man this thing is a beauty
see what they want for this
car
$93,000 I'm pretty sure mine was higher
than that cuz this doesn't have the full
weather package or the laser headlights
but I do love the
black got the i7 over here these grills
are
crazy
I did just talk to them over there
they're going to get the quarter panel
set up I think it's like
$1,200 PR sweet cars
here that's a lot of stuff needed to
replace the quarter panel
yeah so we just got out of the BMW
dealership and look at this right here
this is all the stuff we're going to
need to replace that quarter panel so we
have like some reinforcements 1,400
bucks is not bad for an entire quarter
panel the only bad thing is we are going
to have to wait 3 to 6 weeks for this
quarter panel there's none in the United
States and it's going to have to come
straight from Germany and it turns out
they're going to have to put it on a
container ship and ship it over here
that way which is fine I guess we'll
have to work on something else in the
future but anyways let's head back to
the shop so guys we are back at the shop
and we got everything ordered over there
at the dealership and I got to say it
does kind of suck that the quarter panel
is on a back order it's going to take
about 3 weeks to get here so hopefully
maybe it comes in there sooner but we
did also order a lot of other stuff to
get this quarter panel welded on here
properly we're going to use some body
adhesive from BMW I'm pretty sure they
just glue on you don't weld these new
recorder panels they just have like
rivets and you rivet it on and you're
not going to have to weld anything which
is going to be nice but yeah sucks that
we couldn't fix this quarter panel I was
hoping we could but it's just too much
damage and there's a lot more damage in
the back right there so once we pull
this quarter panel off it'll be a lot
easier to get to we almost made it there
but I mean sometimes you just got to
give up and get a new quarter panel and
just reset which I think is going to be
the better option cuz I am planning on
keeping this car for quite some time and
I definitely would not want any of that
to crack and the fact that there's there
would need to be so much filler right
here and then like right here I and
maybe we could have pulled that out a
little bit more but everything's kind of
mangled up there and you'll never get
that tail light pocket fitting perfectly
and I really just I'm I'm just going to
change it you know there's nothing else
left to say I mean we got close but
unfortunately we couldn't save it but
that's all good once we get the new
quarter panel in we can just go ahead
and replace it glue it on and it'll be
100% like OEM in the meantime we can
definitely start taking the car apart
take the rear windows out and fix the
other body workor on that side but I am
actually going to take a little vacation
to Florida uh just get my mind off
things and that'll be like one week so
that'll be one week down we got two more
weeks to go and then that P will be in
here and we'll get this thing rebuilt
100% professionally but if youall
