the word of the Lord and being the time

now that we all may rise to our feet as

we're dealing with a very important

subject matter we have before us as you

know last week we started our summer

quarter series of of lessons and as we

know each quarter uh as far as the

months go for summer we're dealing with

June July and that of August uh this

particular quarter has a couple of

differences that uh you could say is

different from previous quarters for

example starting off you know as always

we have 13 lessons that we will be

covering in this quarter uh the

difference this time is typically these

13 lessons are broken up into three

separate units this time the writer took

a different approach we only have two

units unit one has 10 lessons and unit

two has three lessons that we're

covering and also the difference we have

is that the subject matter that before

is a subject matter that I guess you

could say occasionally we might have a

lesson about it and then we just move to

the next lesson and go on from there but

this time we have a complete series

extremely important as you know going by

your theme for the entire quarter is

uh as we know are dealing with the women

the last three we have are dealing with

the youth and not to get ahead of myself

but just so you understand when we get

to that point when it deals with the

youth don't always think of dealing with

youth that we're talking about the

children what we're talking about is the

younger folks the younger folks in the

church and doing the ministry and the

work of God because it can be sometime

for younger folks difficult and why

might it be difficult for young folks in

the

concept of God's work with women in the

Genesis the first book of a series of

books known as the oracles or the books

chronicles Ezra Nehemiah and Esther

these 12 books of History you'll find

that we could deal with a lot of women

in this quarter coming from these books

these books deals with how the children

of Israel now have come into the

Promised lands and the events that took

place

thereafter now the time of Judges was an

interesting time the time of Judges was

roughly give or take 425 to 400 let's

say 75 years of the time of the judges

some said they or most will say there

are 12 judges you'll find in the Book of

Judges

that's right but that's not all the

judges in the Book of Judges you'll have

12 judges but you'll find in all there

were 14 judges because there's two other

judges you'll find in the book of 1

Samuel that's Eli and the last one was

known as Samuel so really you had 14

judges not 12 but 14 and during the time

of Judges you'll find that the judge

their responsibility you could say was

twofold one was that the judge they did

handle some civil and judicial matters

and they judged the people because the

position they were placed in but their

primary role as a judge was that they

were the one who was placed in charge of

the military forces of Israel so other

words you led the armies you could say

really of God to deliver them from the

hand of those who had oppressed them

you'll find that the judge came about

because of the fact of the children of

Israel and their I'm going call it their

spiritual conditions and what I mean by

that is this is that they had God in

their life but they came a point in time

where they always thought that or they

came to the point they thought that

burden from us and so on and God would

words you're back in the fold because he

would raise up a judge and by raising up

this judge this judge now fought these

people in battle and they would win the

battle and then they would have peace

and everything was great and Grand right

but there will come a time where that

judge would now go back to be with the

Lord although it's he or we have he or

she would pass on and guess what the

people do they repeat the process all

over again so you have Rebellion you'll

have repentance you'll have repercussion

you have reconciliation then it will

repeat it and this went on for over 400

years that's what the Book of Judges

totally deals with the people in the

condition that they were in the judge

that we have today is the fourth judge

leading up to her and so on from there

but she is the fourth judge and she is

the only out of 14 she is the only one
