I graduated from Vocational High School 5 Denpasar in 2024 and decided to take a gap year for one year. I enjoy reading novels and comics, and I also love singing. In terms of work experience, I interned at Ritzken Bali as a Front Agent for six months and later worked as a Guest Relation Officer for 11 months. After graduation, I continued working at Bali Beach Hotel as a Guest Service Center staff for 10 months.

  • Why did you choose to pursue tourism studies at Politeknik Pariwisata Bali?

-I first discovered Politeknik Pariwisata Bali through social media, particularly Instagram. Many of my internship friends were from Polpar Bali. After doing more research, I learned that it is one of the best institutions for tourism studies in Bali and has been nominated as a center of excellence. The facilities and the comprehensive tourism curriculum at Polpar Bali also attracted me, which led me to choose this institution for my higher education.

  • Why did you choose Hospitality Management as your major?

-I chose Hospitality Management because it offers a comprehensive understanding of the hospitality industry. In this program, I would learn various aspects of hotel operations, including sales, marketing, finance, and overall management. This major covers all the essential components of the hospitality industry, providing me with the knowledge needed to pursue a successful career in this field.

  • Can you share some of your achievements during your studies and internships?

-During my time in vocational high school, I participated in two competitions. One was the receptionist competition in 2023, organized by Politeknik Negeri Bali, where I placed second. The other was the Tourism and Hospitality Olympics in 2024, where I also placed second. These experiences helped me gain valuable skills and recognition in the field of hospitality.

  • Can you describe a situation where you had to handle a guest complaint?

-When handling guest complaints, the first step is always to apologize and acknowledge the issue. For example, at Bali Beach Hotel, many guests complained about their rooms not being cleaned after turning on the 'Make-up Room' sign. In these cases, I apologize for the inconvenience, explain the situation, and offer a solution, such as sending the housekeeping team immediately or offering the guest a complimentary meal in the restaurant while their room is cleaned. If the guest demands compensation, I consult with my supervisor to offer appropriate compensation.

  • What are your career plans after graduating from Politeknik Pariwisata Bali?

-After graduation, I plan to work in Bali for at least one year in a five-star hotel, focusing on roles like Front Desk or Guest Relations. • How did you manage working while attending school?

-Balancing work and school was challenging, but I managed it by staying organized and prioritizing my tasks. I worked as a daily worker at Ritzken Bali while attending school, and later continued at Bali Beach Hotel. It required discipline to manage both, but I was passionate about gaining experience in the hospitality industry, which kept me motivated to work while completing my studies.

  • How do you handle stressful situations when working with guests?

-When faced with stressful situations, I focus on staying calm and composed. I listen to the guest's concerns carefully, show empathy, and make sure to communicate that I will do everything I can to resolve the issue. If necessary, I seek support from my supervisor to find the best solution. It's essential to maintain professionalism and not let stress affect the service provided to the guest.

  • What skills do you believe are most important in the hospitality industry?

-In the hospitality industry, communication skills are essential, especially when dealing with guests from various backgrounds. Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills are also critical when managing complaints or guest issues. Additionally, having good time management and organizational skills is necessary to juggle multiple responsibilities effectively, particularly when working in customer-facing roles.
