for hostages. uh in Gaza

What can you share about

Well, it's it's a a it was

a jubilant day yesterday.

lots of tears and emotion.

um with a nation in

trauma Israel. um to

receive for the um hostages

that are well known to the

Israelis. They've been

waiting. and longing to um,

see their loved ones come

home you can imagine you saw

a lot of that Embrace

yesterday. on the news. um

in the hospital as they

were greeting. their family

members and and then some

tragedies like almog my ear.

whose father died just

hours before his son

was released. from captivity

Um uh Noah aramani whose

mother. um is on the brink

of death with brain cancer,

So just a lot of drama

behind the drama. Um, but

very emotional day for

Israel, very important day.

and I imagine that this

gives other families Hope

families. whose loved ones.

still remain. families whose

loved ones still remain in

captivity. Uh, what can you

significance that these 4

hostages were rescued.

They are alive. They've

been reunited. Does that

their loved ones, families?

Hope that their loved

ones too might also be alive

I believe so. I think that

you know just as a parent

you would just be hanging

on. um every day. uh

expecting and wanting and

hoping you don't ever want

to lose hope. um, of

course as um, Admiral

Admiral hagari said

yesterday, the IDF

spokesman, there's no

way to complete a rescue

operation for every hostage.

Um, but that hope that

there will be a ceasefire

there will be some sort of

a deal that will open up

the way for um, you know,

numbers of hostages to

come home. Is really prime

minister Benjamin Netanyahu

has maintained. that they

will. continue this war

against Hamas until Hamas is

limit. eliminated and the

hostages. are are once again

reunited with their

families when we take

a look at the Timeline

again This is a very

complicated. War. Uh, we

see that Hamas is using

civilians as human Shields

They are hiding in tunnels

those tunnels are extensive.

What does that timeline

look like is? there an

end? in sight or is this

have heard from Israeli?

uh officials saying that

this likely will continue

on for months. I think that

there I think that is the

is going to be a

protracted situation with

right now. no end in

sight. No, no sense of a

deal being consummated by

Hamas. There's been no

official report back from

Qatar or Egypt to the Biden

Administration that Hamas

is agreeing to a deal. Um,

and Israel is in pursuit

of Their Own. War

objectives, which is to end

the military. Um, and

political leadership. um of

Hamas. ruling the Gaza

Strip, So while eager and

first and foremost wanting

to get hostages back they

are also going to achieve

those goals in some manner.

There's also been a lot of

discussion about what Gaza

will look like post-war.

uh President Biden has

outlined a 3-phase plan

where when it comes to a

temporary ceasefire, but

also looking ahead.

realistically though. what

might that look like

again. there there is a

line in the sand with

Israel. Hamas will never be

that's their 1 of their

hard lines in the sand. So

what does that look like?

and you know, how can that

actually be achieved? well,

not laid out a post.

strategy. They've only laid

out post. ideas. and I think

There's nothing that's been

concrete to date and I

think that what their hope

is that they will be

able to as they have

been doing. identifying

certain. gazen leadership.

Um, that is areas in Gaza.

Um, where you could assign

gazen leadership that are

not attached to Hamas where

they would rule over

particular parts of the

Enclave of course, that

would be a temporary

measure. uh, probably but

could go on for

so for years. um like that

conduct over a period of

time, dealing with the

pockets of resistance.

because you can't just walk

out of Gaza and just hand

the keys over and and slam

the door when you've still

got a strong presence of

homos there So I think the

the future is going to is

a little blurry right now.

it is yet to be seen the

hope for a ceasefire. um

at some point is the desire

of everybody's heart,

you know. United States.

Israel. um in order to get

the hostages released, and

then then you can move on

to another phase to this

war. and Heather our

that says that. Hamas in a

video posted on its

telegram Channel today.

saying that 3 hostages

have been killed including

showed what appears to be

just monstrous as they are

and have been. Um, they you

know, if Israel's uh

Focus. is that every life

is a loss of life is a

tragedy. Um, and their focus

is to save lives and save

even the civilian

um, loss of life the way

they view that is a

strategy and they don't

care about the civilian.

uh news report if it's

true. We don't you know,

always have the accurate

news. um on from Hamas,

but if it's true, it's a

it's a travesty. it's a

devastation. and it is

terrorist at the terrorism

at the highest degree. and

we do want to let our

again. Can Hamas be trusted

as they have said in

this video that 3 hostages

have been killed including

a US citizen. No doubt

Reuters. in all other.

legitimate media will be

following this breaking

news, but is does this

show that perhaps a

ceasefire is not realistic

when we hear information.

such as this coming in and

again this is coming from

Reuters. We're we're vetting

all of this. Uh, but does

it seem as though Hamas

is not interested in a

ceasefire they may

say they are but what is

their strategy when it

comes to that? I think that

they um want to stay. in

power and they want to

they don't. they're not

going to give up their

power. and so the idea of

a cease fire through

diplomatic means and to try

to um, get them to turn

over their Authority is a

myth I think that's what

the Israeli leadership is

concerned about. in a

ceasefire deal Can Hamas be

trusted to go through Phase

1 Phase 2 and phase 3 not

likely. um looking at a

situation like this and the

reaction that they would

have and taking the lives

of hostages. So it um, I

would say that it it's on

the brink of disaster if

this is if these reports

are true, are there anything

else that you're keeping a

very close eye on as we

continue to follow all of

the developments in Gaza? I

think that we will um see

some some breakthrough

either through Israel's

military. pressure. um on

Hamas they're going to

continue to pursue their

also looking for

opportunities to get the

hostages home and it looks

like they may have to do

that by force. uh by

going in uh doing

operations as they've done.

Um, they they will

continue to pursue an end

to this war through their

War objectives. and Heather

1 more question for you. I'm

interested in your

perspective we have seen

mounting pressure. uh and

criticism of Israeli Prime

Minister Netanyahu. uh,

including from perhaps

within his own party and

citizens, but when it comes

to a a a vision when it

comes to stability

especially in a time of

increasing instability, uh,

you know, what does his

political future look like

as we do look ahead. as

he is 1 of the leaders.

during this war. Well,

it's um, definitely been a

tough. season for the

nation and certainly for the

leadership of Israel.

I think you know having

been involved. uh, Stephanie

for the last 25 years.

their political. um

situation, changes every

day, so um, it's hard to

put that into the

calculation certainly Um,

there's going to be an

evaluation on the war. Um

as that as that scrutiny

on the failures and

weaknesses and what

where this went wrong.

as far as security and

intelligence. uh, this is

going to land on the

shoulders of prime minister

Netanyahu and his his cabinet

and um, they're going to be

facing that political

uphill I believe. um,

you know all the way to

elections or when Israel

might call elections, So

I think it's a tough season

for him. Um, he is uh

been a great leader for

Israel. Um, at at this

juncture, it's very very

difficult to anticipate

what the politics Will Be.
