Transcripts
so today I'm going to tell you what
supplements I'm currently taking what
foods I take like supplements and what
supplements I'm considering adding to my
supplement stack so my current
supplement stack includes the following
starting with nmn nicotinamide
mononucleotide now nmn is what's known
as an NAD booster nmn helps increase NAD
levels NAD is a co-enzyme and is
essential to the body's metabolic
processes processes process is you get
the idea it's in every cell and in every
living thing and if we didn't have it we
would die in a matter of seconds problem
is that NAD levels go down as we age so
I take nmn in an effort to increase
those NAD levels and I know there is a
lot of debate out there around nmn about
its Effectiveness whether it is or
whether it isn't and I personally have
had a very good experience when taking
nmn I've talked about that in other
videos when I do take nmn I take 1 gr
per day I take a powdered form from do
not age I take the powdered form because
it's just more affordable and I take it
in the morning with water usually on an
empty stomach I say when I take it
because I'm actually not currently
taking it and there's a reason for that
so I'm getting ready to do a blood test
so when I first started taking nmn I had
heard about it and it sounded exciting I
read Davidson Clair's book lifespan like
tons of other people and it got me
excited to try nmn so I just started
taking it I didn't really uh you know I
didn't didn't do any testing or anything
like that so recently I ran out and
decided you know what this is an
opportunity so I'm I stopped taking nmn
for a little while I'm going to do a
blood test to test my NAD levels then
I'm going to start taking it again and
this will give me a chance to verify
whether or not it is actually raising
NAD levels but also to see if I have a
similar experience when I first took it
it increased my energy it helped me
sleep it I even felt like it helped me
in in my running and some physical
endurance efforts for you know Trail
running like that I like to do so I've
decided to put it on pause do the test
and then start taking again for that
reason next on the list is TMG TMG
stands for trimethyl Glycine and is a
form of glycine that has three methyl
groups bonded to it now when we take nmn
or NR to increase NAD levels levels of
nicotinamide in our blood go up and high
levels of nicotinamide aren't
necessarily good so your body gets rid
of it through a process called
methylation that n enamide becomes
methylated and your body goes through
this process to excrete it through the
kidneys this process can deplete the
methyl groups in your body TMG acts as a
methyl donor to help support healthy
levels of methyl groups in the body so
your body actually makes methyl groups
but some people's bodies just are better
at doing that than others so according
to Dr Davidson Clair taking TMG along
with nmn or NR is more of a
precautionary measure for that reason
now this is not the only reason I take
TMG as I mentioned earlier I'm not
currently taking nmn but I am taking TMG
TMG was widely used by athletes before
nmn was ever you know ever really
popular like it is now because it's been
shown to support exercise performance
aside from Fitness benefits it's also
been shown to support vital organs such
as the liver and your heart so I take
one gram of TMG per day even when I'm
not taking an MN as I mentioned I
usually take TMG lat later on in the day
or in the evening before bed omega-3
fish oil is next omega-3 fish oil helps
to support brain health Eye Health
immune Health heart health joint health
and hormonal Health when I take omega-3
fish oil I take enough to equal about
12200 mg of DHA which will typically
give me about 1,600 Mig of EPA I take
omega-3 is usually broken up into two or
three doses spread out across the day
and I take it with a meal I have a video
about all the benefits of Omega-3s which
it's pretty incredible there are things
that I had certainly had never heard of
before until I did the research I'll
link that in the description below now
this is another one that I've put on
pause for a bit I'm not currently taking
Omega-3s and the reason being is there's
something called the omega-3 index it's
a measurement of of the Omega-3s in your
bloodstream and it's been shown through
various studies that people that have a
higher omega-3 index actually have
bigger brains and also other health
markers elevated in positive ways what I
want to do is let my omega-3 index fall
down to a level that might be considered
normal or average for the typical person
who's probably not getting enough
Omega-3s in their diet they're taking
maybe uh eating a very standard American
diet and then take the test start taking
Omega-3s again see how long it takes how
much it increases and you know what what
that will do to the to my own omega-3
index in my blood so I'm pretty excited
about that I'll make a video all about
that so for now I have omega-3s on pause
but I'm going to be doing that test and
starting to take them again in the very
near future next on the list is glac
glac has been shown in studies to
increase glutathion levels increase
autophagy and decrease levels of
methionine and decrease the effects of
age related disease I currently take
1,200 to 2400 Mig of glac per day broken
up into one small dose about 600 Mig in
the morning and the rest in the evening
before bed I have recently found that
when I take like higher doses see that 2
2400 milligrams that it tends to make me
really sleepy and lethargic so I take a
little bit in the morning and then I
take most of it in the evening right
before bed and it does help me sleep
that brings us to creatine now most
people think of creatine as a supplement
for athletes bodybuilders and fitness
competitors because it has been shown in
studies to improve muscular performance
and recovery but it's also one of the
best and safest and most affordable
longevity supplements available for the
reasons mentioned regarding muscular
performance and recovery but also
because of a long list of benefits and
this is a long list various Studies have
shown that it may help lower cholesterol
and triglyceride levels reduce fat
accumulation in the liver reduce
homocysteine levels serve as an
antioxidant enhance glycemic control
slow to growth in some types of cancers
minimize bone loss improve functional
capacity in patients with knee
osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia
positively influence cognitive function
and in some instances serve as an
anti-depressant as well as improve
memory performance who that is a long
list of benefits that I never thought of
I've never heard of that before I really
started to look into this so it's an
awesome awesome supplement for everyone
I Take 5 gram of creatine in the morning
with water usually right after my
workout I think I might be running out
of shirts so I've made a lot of collagen
videos and I even have a whole collagen
playlist on this channel and that
happens to be next on my list collagen
has been shown in studies to improve
skin Health skin elasticity reduce
wrinkles support healthy joints and
improve gut health it's also been shown
in some studies to reduce cellulite I
started taking it to help support with
my joints for all the trail running and
Hiking that I do and I've noticed that
it has made a difference I take 10 G of
collagen every day usually in the
morning going along with collagen I also
take hyaluronic acid hialuronic acid
hyaluronic acid has been shown to
promote skin health and reduce wrinkles
it's also been shown to protect against
a number of respiratory diseases assist
with weight loss be beneficial for brain
health ease incontinence and bladder
pain treat wounds and assist in wound
healing I take 200 Mig of hyaluronic
acid every day day in the morning along
with my collagen along with collagen and
hyaluronic acid I also take whey protein
as we get older it's harder to build and
maintain muscle one of the reasons for
that is that our ability to process
amino acids into muscle or muscle
protein synthesis declines as we get
older and I know there is a significant
debate in the longevity World regarding
protein some advocate for low protein so
as to keep Mt levels low and others
advocate for higher protein to build and
preserve muscle mass or slow the loss of
it and I'm getting to that age where
strength and muscle mass will really
start to take a nose dive and I've been
leaning a lot more towards the higher
protein Camp I've been working really
really hard in the gym to build muscle
and maintain what I already have and
honestly I have to tell you it's beenin
a lot harder than it was when I was in
my 20s or in my 30s I've added way
protein to provide an easily absorbable
form of amino acids to help build muscle
and I take 50 g of whey protein per day
usually in the morning after my workout
I'm currently taking this one from
Costco it's a protein isolate
concentrate blend and it doesn't contain
sugar or any other unwanted ingredients
so let's stop right there for a minute
me making this video does not mean that
I am suggesting that you should take all
of these supplements or any of
supplements people asked what is your
supplement stack so I decided to make a
video about it just because I'm taking
something doesn't mean that you should
be taking these same things or that I'm
saying that you should always do your
own research and always consider
Consulting with your doctor before
making adjustments to your diet or
including supplements in your daily
routine next on my list is a product
called element element is a zero sugar
electrolyte drink mix now electrolytes
are really important for proper
hydration muscle contraction organ and
brain function and I've really learned a
lot about how important electrolytes are
in the last several years while doing a
lot of longdistance trail running and
repeated adventures in the Grand Canyon
I take one element packet in the morning
only on days that I go to the sauna have
a particularly difficult workout or on a
really long trail run and especially
here in Arizona when it gets really
really hot out I also take vitamin D3
vitamin D3 helps improve immune function
boosts mood supports weight loss and
healthy cardiac function your body can
only absorb calcium when vitamin D is
present along with vitamin D3 I also
take vitamin K2 vitamin K2 helps shuttle
calcium to the bones increasing vitamin
D3 without increasing vitamin K2 may
cause an increase in calcium deposits in
the arteries vitamin K2 supports healthy
bones including bone density helps to
increase energy in the mitochondria
which in turn gives you more energy
overall it helps improve insulin
resistance and is anti-inflammatory in
addition to vitamin D3 and K2 I also
take magnesium magnesium helps your body
absorb calcium and supports bone
structure and bone density it also helps
with healthy heart function and helps to
regulate blood pressure in addition it
also helps with digestion when it comes
to vitamin D3 K2 and magnesium I've been
taking an all-in-one just because it's
more convenient one of these gives me
5,000 IU of vitamin D3 4,800 IU of K2
and 250 Mig of magnesium L3 inate I've
been taking it at night though I've
recently decided that I'll probably just
move that to the morning or sometime in
the afternoon and take it with a meal
both D3 and K2 are fat soluble vitamins
so it makes sense to take them along
with food and a meal that contains some
sort of dietary fat like an extra virgin
olive oil I've made videos about all of
these and in more detail than specific
benefits about each and you can find
those on this channel so next on the
list is saw Peta now saw palto has been
shown to support prostate health and
possibly slow or reduce hair loss I
spoke with a dermatologist recently and
she said oh it does it does and I know
there are a lot of different options out
there to hopefully achieve those two
benefits but for now this is the one
that I feel most comfortable with I take
580 mg of saw pometto each day usually
in the evening before bed now we're
going to talk about foods that I eat
like supplements or take like
supplements meaning I try to get a
little bit each day and every day and
the first one on this list is extra
virgin olive oil olive oil has a range
of health benefits it's believed to be
anti-inflammatory to protect against
heart disease it's also been shown that
it may help to prevent strokes and help
fight Alzheimer's disease and reduce
risk of type 2 diabetes it's also
believed to have anti-cancer properties
as well as antibacterial properties it's
also believed to activate cerin which is
very exciting for people focusing on
longevity and healthy lifespan I try to
consume two to three tablespoons of
extra virgin olive oil every day the
next one is one of my very favorites and
that is dark chocolate
M
Chocolate when I first started eating
dark chocolate I thought it tastes like
a bar of soap but after reducing sugar
in my diet significantly my taste buds
began to change and now oh man dark
chocolate so good I even actually prefer
it over milk chocolate which now seems
like it's just just way too sweet
chocolate is high in flavanols and
polyphenols it's also been shown to
support improved blood flow and
increased protection from heart disease
helps improve mood has antioxidant
properties and it also is believed to be
beneficial in fighting Cell damage
related to aging some studies even
suggest that it can help with protecting
your skin from UV rays I do 85% dark
chocolate and I typically eat about one
square per
day okay maybe sometimes I do two or
more now next we're going to talk about
supplements I'm considering now money is
a limiting factor and there are a lot of
options out there there are things there
are a lot of things that are interesting
and things that I would like to try but
I don't have millions of dollars like
Brian Johnson I really have to pick and
choose which ones might be beneficial
for me and that'll also fit into my
budget now the first one on the list is
search six activator another product
from do not age now it's derived from
seaweed and it's for the purpose of
activating search six or ceran 6 now C
six is one of the cin in your body that
is highly associated with longevity I
have C six activator and I have taken it
in the past but I haven't fully
committed to taking it on a regular
basis yet I mentioned CER six activator
in one of my other videos and received
an email from a guy who said he reviewed
several studies and learned that
activating search six promotes the
progression migration and invasion of
prostate cancer he went on to say that
he started taking six activator and 2
months later his PSA numbers doubled now
PSA stands for prostate specific antigen
PSA is a protein that's produced by both
cancerous and non-cancerous tissues in
the prostate elevated PSA levels can be
an indicator of prostate cancer doesn't
mean that it is prostate cancer but
that's one of the things that they look
for after mentioning this he said he had
just finished radiation treatment for
prostate cancer and was now on hormone
therapy for clarity I asked him if he
had had cancer prior to taking sech six
activator and he said yes so he already
had cancer prostate cancer before he
started taking it and he didn't really
know that activating sear six could
exacerbate that situation now having
said that he was quick to point out that
he wasn't 100% sure that it was search
six activator that caused the rise in
PSA numbers but he decided to stop
taking it and I don't blame him I would
do the same thing now let's stop right
there and talk about something have you
ever heard people say always consider
Consulting with your doctor before
making adjustments to your diet or
including supplements in your daily
routine oh wait I said that earlier in
this video this is a perfect example of
when that would very very very much
apply now I want to be respectful to
this person who sent me the email when I
say this and I really do think he would
want me to say this to you if you have
cancer or some other existing Health
concern doing extensive research on your
own and Consulting with your physician
is highly highly highly highly
recommended this situation probably
above any others would require that it
should require that more so than at any
other time doing your own research in
general even if you don't have a
significant Health concern just makes
good sense don't just start taking
things because someone made a video and
is talking about how great their
experience was that absolutely includes
me and any other person out there making
videos about supplements or health rated
topics so with this in mind I've decided
to go to the doctor get a physical it's
been a while check my PSA numbers and
make sure I'm not at risk of prostate
cancer before I start activating sech
six or taking SE six activator for that
purpose then I'll decide if I want to
commit to it and then if I do I will
monitor that on a regular basis so fur a
boost is another one I'm considering
also from do not age I get a lot of my
supplements from do not age almost uh
probably the majority of them it
contains hopane glucosinolate which is
derived from broccoli and has been shown
to neutralize toxins reduce inflammation
and support the body's efforts to reduce
the risk of cancer this is one that Dr
Rhonda Patrick talks a lot about she's a
big big fan of so furane and I have some
and I've taken it but haven't been
taking it regularly so I can't report
that it's on my current supplement stack
but I am adding it in and will be taking
it on a regular basis CA AKG is next
I've heard a lot about CG in the past
but just really had hadn't been taking
it I never caught my attention but my
recent conversation with Dr Nick Inger
has me thinking about that supplement
and potentially adding it to my stack
now he did his own test and found that
for him it actually reversed his
biological age by 3 years I made a video
about that as well and it's also on this
channel AKG is a key metabolite in the
kreb cycle which is all about how energy
in your body is generated and plays a
key role in metabolism stem cell growth
collagen synthesis and epigenetic
regulation it's been known to support
stronger bones and help with weight
maintenance and reduce inflammation from
ccent cells and is believed to help
extend healthy lifespan so I'm really
considering taking CA AKG beta alanine
is also one that I'm considering on my
consideration list it's popular with
bodybuilders because it's believed that
it helps to regulate acid in the muscles
and prevent or slow down fatigue it
helps to reduce that time to burn out
when you're working out you know and
your muscles just really start to burn
and you got to stop so I'm interested in
this because one of my goals is to
increase the number of pull-ups that I
can do in one set like all in a row with
no rest this year my goal is to do 50 I
need all the help I can get I'm curious
if beta alanine will help even a tiny
little bit reduce that time to burnout
torine is next and in conjunction with
beta alanine torine has been shown to
improve endurance strength and power and
expedite the recovery of Doms delayed
onset muscle soreness an exciting new
research also suggests that torine
potentially supports healthy aging and
Longevity now this next one may come as
a surprise to you and that is a
multivitamin I know I know that just
seems like a no-brainer why isn't that
the first one on your list right but
it's just something that I haven't
committed to yet I get a lot of very
nutrient-dense Foods as part of my
regular diet every day I've also done a
micronutrient test which came back very
very positive and showed that I wasn't
deficient in anything so I don't get
overly concerned about this one but it
is something that I'm very much
considering adding to my supplements
stack
