back um i' I'd rather not talk about the
weight loss
please okay but how else did you
prepared for the for the role there was
a lot you know um I had to do a lot of
historical research yes for the part I
had to uh learn about what it was like
to be alive um in 1823 and before and
and uh what it was like to be a woman
then um and then my research started to
explore what it was like to be a sex
slave um and what the the emotional toll
that takes on a human being and um so
that was what I did to craft the
character and then I had to sing a lot I
had to uh you know get get get into
character you sin uh showing you sing I
dream the dream was memorable thank you
very much just memorable you really
saying the I have a friend from the
Philippines her name is Le longa I told
her I told her that I was going to
interview you which is uh in the stat
and in fact has a message for you she
does yeah it says uh oh my god oh that's
it she texted it to me from the from the
us oh I hope to meet her too yeah and
she said she could hardly wait to see
the movie oh my go sum anyway did you I
adore her yes you really say in a Vogue
interview that you could never have
compared with Leia and your mom who was
who played the Fantine yes Kate mcau
what did you say that but
you're terrific in the movie oh thank
you thank you well but I think if you
think of me as an actor who sings rather
than a a singer I'm I'm probably more
impressive uh but Leia has one of the
great voices of of our time you know I
don't think there's vocally anything
that she can't do and um and she's made
a career as a singer so I have complete
deference to her um and then of course
my mother has a very very beautiful
voice um as well you were very young

was when um I got to come back as an
angel at the end for Hugh because um I
got to feel

was I dreamed to dream oh I dreamed yes

you're a sh in for the Oscars next year
