airpods Pro 2 review for Android users

and in this video we will be attempting

to answer three questions one what

features will work with Android devices

two what features won't work with

Android devices and three if you're an

Android User are they worth picking up

so let's start with the features that do

work you have transparency mode active

noise cancellation and

okay so it's not actually quite that bad

while a lot of the software features

don't work on non-ios devices the

hardware features are the same and most

of them work just fine the pods provide

pretty good comfort and fit at least in

my ears I personally prefer buds that

Nestle down into my ears like the Galaxy

buds 2 Pro whereas the airpods are

largely held in by the tips however I do

find the pods to be pretty comfortable

and I rarely need to make any

adjustments to them even when exercising

and I do think they will fit pretty well

in the ears of most people especially

since they now include more ear tip size

options in the Box the form factor of

the second generation of the airpods pro

is pretty much identical to the last

generation so if you know how those fit

in your ears then you will know how

these will fit in your ears obviously

battery life will be about the same for

androiders with the pods providing

around six hours of battery life

depending on their usage with around an

additional 24 hours of Life provided by

the case although to charge the budge

you will need to use a lightning cable

and while that will seem like a

ridiculous complication for most Android

users you can always charge the buds

wirelessly the pods ipx4 water

resistance rating will also obviously be

the same the excellent column mic

quality will be the same and the out of

the box touch controls will also be the

same you won't be able to customize the

long press on the pods with an Android

device but since the default setting is

toggling between active noise

cancellation and transparency mode which

is what most people will probably want

anyway I don't think this is a big deal

predictably you won't have access to

Siri either more on that later perhaps

most importantly for the most part you

will get the same Sound Stage you would

get when paired to an iOS device now

personally I do think there are some

better sounding buds out there such as

the Galaxy buds 2 Pro which for around

the same price do have a fuller sound

and more thump in the low end especially

when paired to a moderate Samsung device

which allows you to take advantage of

24-bit high-res audio when listening

from a source that supports it like

title or Amazon music however the sound

on the pods is still quite good

especially if you are someone who likes

clean clear and balanced sound you will

however miss out on the Adaptive EQ

feature which uses the airpods inward

facing mics to adjust the sound based on

how the buds fit in your ears but but

honestly when switching between my IOS

and Android devices I couldn't tell the

difference that brings us back around to

the active noise cancellation and

transparency modes you will get the same

fantastic active noise cancellation

regardless of the device you are paired

with and I do have to mention that the

active noise cancellation on the second

generation of the airpods pro is next

level and is the best I have ever

experienced on any pair of truly

wireless buds transparency mode on the

pros is also excellent and works

perfectly regardless of the brand of

your paired device in other great news

for Android users adaptive transparency

will also work with your device adaptive

transparency is a feature that allows

transparency mode to become less

sensitive in the event of a loud certain

noise and more sensitive when trying to

hear quieter sounds and the reason this

feature still works with your Android

device is because all the transparent

magic is done on board with the pod's

new H2 chip I actually did a very

scientific test of this feature by

dropping some weights next to my head

and I can verify that this feature does

indeed work as advertised I had a harder

time noticing a difference or trying to

hear quieter things although I did see

seem to be able to hear at least as well

with the buds in my ears as I did when

they were out and if you appreciate this

type of deep and thorough testing

methodology be sure to like this video

and consider subbing to the channel I

don't consider it so now that we know

what features non-ios users are getting

we have to look at what features aren't

coming to the Android party and first on

the chopping block is quick pairing now

don't get me wrong it's still quite easy

to pair the pods with other devices it

just takes a couple of extra steps and

once paired the pods do a pretty good

job of connecting to whatever device I

am currently using regardless of its

operating system so I really don't see

this one as a deal breaker what might be

a bigger deal for some people is you

obviously won't have access to Siri or

any other digital assistant you also

won't have access to the pod's ear tip

fit test which tests the Integrity of

the pod's ear seal with your ear canal

as with quick pairing I don't think this

will be a deal breaker for most but it

is a bit of a bummer it will also be a

little harder keeping track of your pods

with an Android device because you won't

have access to Apple's find my features

and you won't be able to use the speaker

on the pods case to activate bait the

siren so when you lose your pods you

will just have to look under the couch

cushions the old-fashioned way now there

is actually a potential workaround for

the find my issue you can get your paws

added to another Apple users Network

through one of their devices or better

yet set up your own login on an Apple

device and register your pods you can

use the Apple iCloud find feature from

an internet browser on pretty much any

device the last feature Android users

will be missing out on is spatial audio

a lot of people releasing to like

spatial audio and the ability of the

pods to be able to track your head

movement and make the proper sound

channel adjustments is impressive and it

does do a pretty good job of recreating

that theater surround sound feeling so I

think when assessing how important

missing out on this feature will be to

you you need to ask yourself two

questions one how often do you watch

movies on your phone and two when

watching movies on your phone how much

are you moving and looking around if the

answers to these questions is not often

and not much then regardless of how cool

this feature is I'm really not sure

you're going to miss it so after looking

at what works and what doesn't are the

second generation airpods Pro worth a

pickup for Android word users and I

think the answer is yeah they actually

might be obviously if you are a bells

and whistles kind of person and extra

and exclusive features matter a lot to

you or if you're someone who likes to

access the digital assistant from their

buds then you will probably want to give

these a pass and go with something

designed for your device's ecosystem

like the new pixel buds Pro or the

earlier mentioned Galaxy buds 2 Pro and

you just simply might not be okay with

missing out on The Full Experience on a

pair of earbuds that cost 250 dollars

which is certainly understandable but if

you're looking for a good balanced

sounding pair of wireless earbuds that

have class leading active noise

cancellation and transparency modes

great call Quality decent battery life

and reliable touch controls then Apple's

newest version of their best pods might

be right for you well that's all the
